galilio battery - G2 and Desire Z General

before anyone say search, I DID
just want to ask if any galilio battery user has good experience with them yet i'm on my day 3 of the battery and still getting stock-ish battery life

Did you search in the actual battery thread in the accessories forum though? I remember reading feedback from Galilio users in that thread (not positive, but I think there were definitely others who saw the same as you---no different than stock).
Might want to post in that forum instead (and say if you are using the 1800 or 2000 versions).

Reasons to root

My Nexus One will be here tomorrow, and I am wondering what the Pro's and Con's of rooting are.
I've rooted before. I had a G1, but I bricked it, accidentally. Won't stop me from rooting the Nexus, but just give me some reasons why.
I obviously know about cooked roms, etc. I've read about the Desire rom with Sense UI, is it worth it?
Just want your input.
The "search" function of the forums is a great feature. I've seen several threads about this very subject already.
Its definitely worth it! I enjoyed the phone stock, but when i rooted and went with cyanogen 5053. I couldnt happier. I thought the phone was fast already, but with the ROM, its a step above!
And plus some apps from the market are only for rooted phones. SetCPU (underclocking app) is one of them, and has helped me out with battery life. moderate use, i got about 18 hours yesterday with still 35% left on the battery.

Its great how we have members that spam other members topics with unuseful replys just to get there post count up.
This is exactly why I don't post alot.
@stuff: I rooted my n1 and flashed cyanogen 5053 and gotta say it's alot faster! If your the kind of guy that gets alot of apps and games like me there is another feature of rooted phones called apps2sd. Apps2sd allows you to set a partition size of your choosing on your sd card for use of storing installed apps and games. That way you are not limited to the internal phone memory. Also as h2opoloplyr_11 stated there are some apps that require your phone to be rooted. Thats all I can think of right now as I am new to android and the n1 but I'm sure there are more reasons and more reasons to come as devs get creative.

It has nothing to do with getting our post counts up and everything to do with having a clean, uncluttered and efficient forum. No one likes to see the same questions asked every few days. The point of a forum is for it to serve as a repository of information to help and educate future enthusiasts. This guy isn't special and somehow entitled to create another redundant thread instead of using the search function like the rest of us do.. Not to mention he said in his original post that he rooted his G1.

Why the hell isn't there an official stickied topic listing the pros and cons of rooting your device. The first thing people would see before they go asking repeated questions would be that thread.
Good question...the info was stickies in the G1 forum..probably still is.

Which is why the op's question should have either been answered or his topic reported. What could have been very simple has turned to a two page topic with only a few post that actually answer the question and it's not because of the op. It's because of all the other post within the topic that are completely of topic including this one.

Every time someone asks THIS question. It's about 10 pages of people giving different great benefits. What difference is 2 pages telling the guy to Lrn2Surch
If someone is too lazy to SEARCH for benefits. Who would ever expect them to accomplish rooting, and the various benefits without further questions that have been seen 100's of times.

Complete Guide to Maximizing Your Android Phone’s Battery Life

I found the link for this guide on gizmodo. I actually get the same amount of battery life on my HD2 with shubcraft as i get on my Nexus One so i have no complaints about battery use (im a "power user" so i dont expect great battery life anyways. I Avg about 6hrs on every smartphone i had.) but i see alot of threads about battery use so check out this guide.

[Q] Which NAND ROM delivers the best battery life before tweaking?

Which NAND ROM provides the longest battery life before tweaking with SetCPU and/or JuiceDefender? I would like to have peeps provide here their opinion or proof before I settle on a single ROM.

Hi,
I had a NAND ROM once.
I installed it, charged it to the Max, powered it down, and put it in the cupboard for a week.
And guess what. There was still some charge on it when I switched it on again!

Great, another "whats got bets battery life" topic, we have been running short on these and other circular never ending topics like them, lets all enjoy at the finality of the answers.
Go and try some roms and find out what has best battery life for YOU because what MAY have good life for us doesn't necessarily translate to best for YOU.

with reading, reading, reading. and with experimenting. with trying something out and not expecting it to be 100% perfect the first time i did it. not posting and expecting others to solve basics for me.
but i digress. so many threads about "best this" or "best that"...it seems that people are hesitating to experiment or impatient at that their first choice may not be the best answer.
anyways. blah blah.

I start the same place I would do on ANY forum...

All these "best" topics are completley useless other then to clog up the forum with useless junk, There is just too many of them and they always have the same answers. In some section they get closed/deleted by mods so its not as if we are complaining for no reason.
Anyway, Welcome to the HD2 forum some advice for you...
DO NOT create topics in the dev section, Its for posting dev releases/work/reference ONLY!
DO NOT create "Best rom" or "Best Battery" or any other kind of "best" topics as they will always get same response, "best" is subjective upon the user, The ONLY way to find the "best" is to try it yourself because best for you is not always best for us etc.
PS. Incase you wasnt aware, All XDA n00bs at registration are give this video to watch so they have absolutely no excuse creating topics that are going to be obviously a FAQ, Its just common sense, ANY question that a n00b can think of has very likely already been asked AND answered a million times already so all they have to do is take 2 seconds to look, its as simple as that.

OK so the new to the forum thing should have been new to HD2 forum. I have been following the galaxy S forum for last few months. so I know the basics..
but I don't want to go through tens of threads so the best thing would be to ask or look for best ROM topic..
yes it is irritating to read all the best ROM, kernel topics but that's what newbies like to know.. I think the solution would be add a newbie section.. so that the development section will remain clean.. or you could just stop replying to such threads... whats up with that? ?

Discussion| Best version concerning battery

What in your opinion, is the best android version so far that has the best battery life for our amazing device, the Galaxy S III?
Also, what's the best version for battery life in your opinion, from version 4.1.1 + ?
If there is another discussion about this matter, please let me know before you comment.

Threads covering the inquiry of the best of something, be it roms, battery life etc. aren't allowed.
there WAS other threads like this before the mods got to them please read the stickies and rules before starting a new thread as this question and many others like it are not aloud and will be closed as soon as a mod sees it. And the reason they are banned is because every ROM effects everyone's phone differently so what could be great for someone else may be bad for you so it ends up becoming a pointless thread with people complaining about battery life. There is also a Q&A forum for all your questions please use that next time as it saves making clutter

So? The "best" of anything is really a matter of one's own preference, whether you're too ignorant to understand or not. hence why they're not allowed and this will be locked in due time.

Simply because their is no best and the posts break down into abuse .

Wait, let me prepare my crystal ball...
While you wait, do some searching in the rom thread, in this section where you posted and Google.
There are numerous posts about the same issue.
As above and try a new battery.
Takes at least a week for battery to calibrate itself.

Yeah, i bet you did a massive research.
So what were you expecting when you opened this rather useless thread ? That we are gonna tell you to install this and that app and your drain will be gone ? Is that what you wanted ? It's not like it's phone model dependant. But there are apps to monitor what's causing drain.
You are not the first one with this issue, the phone is 3.5 years old, there's plenty of info.

There are too many things to be considered. We can't just tell you what it is. Let the rom settle for a few days.
