long story short i had to restore from my nand backup. But the phone stays stuck at the black samsung screen. It makes the startup chime sound but doesnt load. What could the problem be? I really need this backup. For some reason not even mybackup pro backed up like it should have because when i restored it restored an old back up.

Here is what you do. Go back into clockwork and flash a different nandroid or the same one again. if non of your nandroid works. you will have to odin and then reroot and whatever.
What are you developing?
most likely this means you made a nandroid backup from an RFS rom and you are using EXT4 or vice versa. my suggestion is to do a nandroid restore, then flash the ext4/rfs dual kernel. see if that boots you. if not, nandroid, oneclick root/nand unlock and restore. if that doesnt work, you are officially boned. i suggest using titanium backup in the future. nand backups are nice, but i have had way too many problems with Clockwork recovery's restore. either not working or not restoring properly.
You most likely have the wrong kernel for your ROM. If the poster above me is correct, go find a dual-support kernel and flash that. Most versions of CWM Recovery right now don't back-up the kernel block for some reason.
If you can, go find the ROM you're trying to restore from, pull the kernel out of the zip, and make your own update.zip for the kernel. Should clear your problem right up.
nandroid does not restore the kernel on our phone (maybe others, too?). Flash a kernel after your restore.
The way I usually restore now is to flash the rom that the backup came from, then advanced restore->restore data to get my apps and settings back.

I was flashing CM7. This is what I did:
Rooted, ClockworkMod v3.0.0.5 from Rom Manager.
From recovery did a BackUp (seems useless because it doesn't do anything.)
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe Cache partition
Install zip from sdcard - selected cm7 - got a Status Error 7
Now the phone won't boot, stays on the Google screen, I can get into the recovery though.
Any ideas? I am downloading the Stock 2.3.3 image.
Thanks!
restore your backup.

I tried doing that from ClockworkMod, gave me an error, it was a ridiculously small file, doesn't seem like a backup.
Even the stock gives me a Status Error 7.
Any ideas?
you didnt brick, just download a a new rom, sounds like it was a bad download.. if the phone shows a screen it isnt bricked...

This is what I get. For both Stock 2.3.3 and CM7. I've tried multiple times.
right did you re download it and copy it back to the phone or just going off the rom you downloaded already? if so worst case shouldnt odin work?

I'm downloading it again. Should I rename it to update.zip? Odin, that's the software right?
I think your problem is because you are using the clockwork mod for I9020, where as for rogers you should be using clockwork for i9023 -- at least this was my case, I have i9020a rogers
you can get it from this link 2nd file.
after using this one you shouldn't be getting "E: can't mount cache" and you shall be able to repeat rooting/flashing steps.

What is your computer OS? do you have android sdk?
In general everything you need is in this post

i think that is all of your system data information (downloaded apps, passwords, pics, settings, etc). doing a factory reset/data wipe clear all of that.

hmmm... I was able to make several successful backups of 4.2.2 ROMs.
did you completely uninstall 4.3 and start from fresh? again, I read that some folks had trouble even getting back to stock or 4.2.2 from 4.3.
while I don't think there is an issue with TWRP, I would certainly post your question on that thread.

great.
I would advise to create some nandroids of your fav 4.1.2 and 4.2.2 ROMs.
Ive flashed just about every rom for my M as it is just a play phone(no service lol) even unlocked it for other carriers and ive never had a problem like this. Well now that its fixed time to flash somemore 4.3's
Well, I think I need some help with this one.
So, I have been using Resurrection Remix as my daily driver for a while now (to be able to run lollipop). As I noticed the G2 now has an official lollipop build, so I wanted to install that(cam sucks on most ROMs and overall stability isn't always great). Since I figured the best way would be to go back to stock, and then run the OTA updates.
I made a backup of my current rom, found this, and tried the TOT method. Everything ran fine, but when the 85% reboot thing happened, it booted straight into TWRP. Decided to reboot to system via TWRP, but after showing the LG logo for about 5-10s, it goed straight back into recovery. Since i figured the install failed or something I decided to factory reset, and restore from my backup. TWRP says the restore is succesful, but it still won't boot into my ROM. Reinstalling any ROM doesn't work either
Already tried this, no result(, and I'm afraid of trying the above guide again, but let me know if i should just try again)!
I do have access to my recovery and download, and ADB still works. The only thing I see is that instead of this:

Mine says this:
(My PC is in Dutch )
(The LG Driver on the guide was an older version than the one on my pc still, but I don't think that will cause a problem).
Hope my phone isn't gone forever, and thanks for helping in advance!!
-Scrytal
EDIT:
Tried the above TOT method again, apparatly it skips a lot of things, and is done in like 30s, so it's not doing its job. I have no idea what's causing that though!
EDIT2:
IF ANYONE STILL FINDS THIS, this was the solution for me. I didn't know LG had a 'official' tool for fixing our sh*t . Hope it still helps you!
You should edit the title to include the word (solved) or (fixed).

Hi, i can't boot any rom too,
I can access my download mode and recovery mode (twrp),
But i can't boot any custom rom,
And ADB can't recognize my phone,
I tried to back to stock using LG Flash Tool 2014 (the kdz ones), but nothing works,
And the official lg tool link is broken
Good Morning All,
I did a search for this but didn't come up with anything specific so apologies in advance if it does exist somewhere. After a long time owning an S7 under Verizon service I finally took the plunge and Rooted him. Works Beautifully so Hat off to the Warriors. I see that Flashfire can Perform backups and restores without having to utilize a custom recovery.
My Question is has anyone tested Backing up and restoring on a Verizon S7? If so can you provide Experiences, results, what paritions/items listed in flashfire backup was performed on, Workarounds if needed and of course Failures. If it is more advantageous to flash a custom recovery instead of using flashfire. Which one is preferable i/e TWRP/Clockwork Mod. Please excuse me as the last time I had rooted and romed an android fully was my Moto Droid. (LOCKED BOOT LOADER ON THAT ONE "Safe Strap used" )
Just to be clear again this is for my Rooted Verizon Galaxy S7 Debloted and Lag fix applied.
Gratsi me Android Familia.
FlashFire is the ONLY recovery that can be used other than stock, but not as a replacement to the stock recovery. The backup and restore feature is amazing on the S7, but you need to have it installed/operating first. I mean that if you do a backup and wipe the phone, you will need to re-root and install FlashFire before being able to restore.

That makes sense. Really so Clockwork and TWRP cannot be used? Prob because the bootloader is still locked right? Like I said is been a minute since I've been through the entire Process.
If flash fire is the only viable method other than stock, obviously that will be my Choice I may try the Stock too.
Additional Question about items to backup. The items/partitions marked below that are marked protected. will the restore perform without errors since they are marked as protected? Or are there specific Items only that should be backed up besides system and data?

I just use normal and have restored with no problems.
I was curious about this as well... Thanks for answering.
ok i see some of you are using the backup restore feature in flashfire but when i do a normal backup i deselect internal storage but the problem is that it keeps repeating over and over again listing the partitions see screenshot i know my explanation isnt very clear so is this normal or am i doing somethinv wrong. and this is on a rooted galaxy s7 verizon on nougat firmware
Edit: restarted phone and it works now
Hi there. About a year or so ago I went about flashing my Tab but it went wrong and now all I can do is get it to boot to TWRP. Would someone be so kind as to tell me step by step what to do to get it back working? I'd prefer it to go back to stock ROM without TWRP or other 3rd party flash programs but I'll take what I can get. Help appreciated.
This is what I get when it boots:

I got a reply! Thank you!
No I didn't try that. To be honest I used to flash android stuff all the time but kind of having been doing much of that stuff the last few years so I don't remember how to do any of that. If you were so kind to provide me a link or walkthrough on what to do that would be HUGELY appreciated. Thanks for the reply.

What was the goal when you started down the path of installing TWRP? It seems like you might have been part way there if you got that far?
There are Lineage install instructions here. <-- More importantly Odin Download if you don't already have it.
If you decide to try Lineage, the latest builds require new firmware found here. It can also be obtained by returning to stock and updating.
Anyways If you are in TWRP, in the restart menu there is an option to restart to download. If will reboot to a black screen, just hit the power button once when the screen goes off. Before you do this, you need to obtain stock firmware, from somewhere. (Sammobile or something like that) You will also need Odin, link above.
As with anything proceed at your own risk.
Once you have those files, you can extract the firmware. They will be labeled and go into those spots in Odin, AP, BL, CSC, then you should be able to hit start. I'm going from memory, as I haven't had to restore mine since I got it (and looking at the files in stock firmware file).
Idk how relevant this is anymore but I had this same issue after I install lineage 18, there's a multi-disabler zip I got awhile ago that fixes all my flashing problems related recovery loop. Just Google that zip, flash it then format and restart. That what I've done easy fix, this assumes you followed the basic steps to properly flash whatever it is you're trying to.
