[Q] PLaying music downloaded via zune on handeset - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

I am having issues playing tracks using the zune media player.
1. I have zune installed on my pc.
2. I have a trial zune account.
3. I have downloaded two albums on my pc and used the desktop client to sync the tracks to my HD27
When i try to play any of the tracks i get an error message:
"Cant play, check your internet connection or try again later"
I have enabled my data connection with 3G services (and have full strength 3G reception) and in media settings i have enabled Zune connection.
....despite this i'm not still not able to play tracks i have downloaded through Zune.
I can play tracks that i already owned and have synced onto my HD27.
has anyone else experienced this problem?

BBC Radio 1 on Magician

Does anyone know of a way to receive the BBC Radio 1 stream on the Magician
use Pocket Media Player 10 or Real player.. and enter the URL..that's it
I have tried that, hence the reason for posing the question.
You never stated that you had tried either of those options.
You haven't even stated what the problem is, error messages etc...
Ok good point PDA,
The problem is that I cant get Real player 1.0 or 1.1 to work with the bbc's stream of radio1, i have tried the website links but that just wont take me to the player and I have tried the r1live.ram & r1livev7.ram files with the player but it just says the connection faild and gives me a message about not being able to connect to server.
dan
Do any other streams work?
Are you using T-Mobile for your internet connection? If so, open the .ram file with a text editor. Replace :554 with :7070 and it will work. T-Mobile blocks port 554 but not 7070. I'm using the so called 1.1 preview version (although it's been a preview for about 3 years.)
If you're using a NAT firewall, some of the older routers won't pass the UDP protocol correctly and that will also block the stream.
The BBC page will give you the option of listening in an external player. If that option is selected, Pocket Internet Explorer will download the ram file and open the Real Player. Save the ram file as in the future you can just click on the file and the BBC will start streaming.
I am able to use the Virgin Radio Stream, but not the bbc, I have an orange M500, but I do not intend to use it via GPRS, too expensive, I have so far only tried using the internet connection via active-sync, but my PC has no problem streaming it, I have just bought a wireless card, so will be testing that asap.

Windows Media Player and XDA Exec

Has anyone figured out how to get these two to talk together so they sync?
I can't get Media Player 10 to recognise the Exec. I can sync Ok with outlook but just can't get past the Setup bit of Media Player.
I get as far as the "Setup must be completed" then goes on about setting up a partnership with MP10 on pc, i say yes and the loop starts again
its fairly easy.
1. connect usb to pc
2. open wmp10 on pc
3. select sync tab
4. add video, pics and music
5. press start sync on wmp10 and voila.
note it must be synced to a storage card
ive just seen the storage card bit in the help file
Install Version 10 of Windows Media Player before media can be synchronized.
Connect your mobile device to the PC with a USB cable. If the device is also connected using Bluetooth or infrared, you must end that connection before media can be synchronized.
Insert a 32 MB or larger storage card in your mobile device.
Set up a sync partnership between the storage card and Windows Media Player.
my SD is already in the phone so it didnt trigger the sync.

Norton Antivirus. I'll try disabling it when I get home tonight.
ok, my home machine, no AV no Firewall setup, dosent work
work machine, AV running Firewall Running, works fine
both XP SP2 with WMP10 using AS4.1
now im puzzeled
Did you install WMP10 on your PC after installing AS4? If yes then thats the problem. AS4 installs some files for WMP10, so if you install WMP10 after AS4 then they will be overwritten. So you need to install WMP10 first, then AS4.
I read this on the MS site somewhere.
Nop AS4 was installed on both as the last thing on them.
Same here - had WMP10 on for a while now and only installed AS4.1 recently
WM10 AS4
Same here,..WM10 doesn't recordnise my MDA pro. Tried olmoast everything but still no synchronisation. In Active Sync is says to complete the Sync klick here,..and then QM10 starts up. but no way of enabling the synchronisation....
anyone had some advice?
best regards
Arjan

Anyone can help?
Best Regards
arjan

Try completely uninstalling all antivrius, firewall, reboot and see what happens.
For that are having problems with AS4/4.1 - I have found uninstalling the COM ports can help as the USB drivers can become corrupted. Also I think you need to make sure that AS is working; do a sync before you try to connect to WM10 on this PC. I have found that my AS does not always start when I connect my JJ to may laptop.
Edit: I am not using USB2 connectors, not sure why but I remember reading I should only use USB1 ports for AS...

Jdee - spot on - works for me nicely.
Thank you ever so much - that's made my morning rush out of the door a lot easier now.

Playing mp3s shared across the internet

For a while I've had some of my music accessible over the internet and I play it at my friends' house where they have older computers with smaller capacity.
This is how the internet access is setup
1) the file server is running XP Pro with IIS v5 as the webserver
2) I have a "media" folder that is shared within the my home network
3) That same folder is also shared on the IIS webserver (Read-only + Directory Browsing)
4) I forwarded port 80 to the file server in my router
5) I setup an account at dyndns.org (example: myserver.dydns.org)
So if I want to play my music on any computer I browse to http://myserver.dyndns.org/media/ and I get a list of my music folder (categorized as genre/artist/album/01 filename.mp3), for example, if I want to play a specific song, I could browse to http://myserver.dyndns.org/media/genre/artist/album/01 Title.mp3
Here is my problem: I can not play my mp3s on WM5
* If I browse to a file, I only get the option to download the mp3
* If I open Windows Media Player , click on Menu > Library, then click on Menu > OpenUrl, then type the url "http://myserver.dyndns.org/media/genre/artist/album/01 Title.mp3", I get the error message:
"Cannot play the file. The file is either corrupted or the Player does not support the format you are trying to play"
I also have m3u playlists setup in the Media folder. Some have relative urls to the files (for example: ../music/genre/artist/album/01 Title.mp3) while others have the absolute url (e.g. http://myserver.dyndns.org/media/genre/artist/album/01 Title.mp3) . Both play with no problems on the desktop version of WMP, but they will not play on the Mobile version.
After searching the web, I found out that WMM natives supports playlists in the asx format, so I created asx files which WMM loads automatically from the browser but throws the error message:
"Cannot play any items in the playlist. For additional information, on the Now Playing screen, select an item, and then press Menu > Error Details."
Could someone please help resolve this problem.

Playing shared mp3's over internet
Tried your dns.org setup on my wizard...great idea. used TCPMP core player to access dns.org site. This will let you stream any content, just add to playlist. Although due to high bitrate of content streaming over edge network not so good, wi-fi works perfect. Now, I have the reverse problem and can not download file through PIE. Could you explain your setup to download and save file?

Syncing HD2 with PS3

Is there anyway to sync my hd2 with my ps3 wirelessly or usb device. If it can just recognize just the external memory card that would be good. It just comes up has unknown device. Is there anyway around this
basically, there are 2 ways:
1. connect you phone as a usb drive. this is done by selecting usb drive mode under usb to pc section in settings.
2. this one is a bit tricky. you need to have both ps3 and hd2 connected to the same local network (wifi is good also). now, install a dlna server on the hd2 - use the one that was extracted from the omnia 2 or pocket player with the upnp plugin installed. configure the server you have installed. on the ps3 you need to enable the media client option (don't remmember the exact term). it is located under the network settings. now, on the ps3, goto any section you like (pics, music, video) and select search for media server. you should see that it has found the server. scroll down to the server and browse it like any other folder you have on your ps3. good luck!

WiFi Sync with WMP?

I am currently syncing over WiFi with Winamp, and it works fine.
But I am finding that I like Windows Media Player's UI more. Is there any way I can sync over WiFi with Windows Media Player? Google rendered no help.
