I have an idea i would like to share with everyone.. and in fact this very post is the first action i am taking toward making this idea a reality. I am starting a post for teaching, for helping people understand the basic rules behind the fascinate. IF this works well it can then be applied XDA wide. I need everyone possible to contribute to this post. Your job is to keep returning here and teaching me by answering questions.. My job is to over analyze and repost questions..
the biggest reason i am doing this is because nothing on these forums is linear. by that i mean their is no start and end or set direction to help new people get a general understanding in this community. I myself look for answers to to a question among the vasts posts, and instead of answering my initial question i pose 10 more questions to myself.. i then Google some things.. get lost in tabs.. and post dumb questions that flamers are just waiting to jump on.
i will make this OP a living post.. i will continually edit it adding definitions, generalizations and basic rules i gather from your replies and our discussions.
SO, to start this out. i would like to have people post small things you have noticed that help a large amount of people, things that newbies question the most and things people should know in general to understand some of the language the more adept people use.
ps.. im not talking about the newbies that dont bother to read the beginner sticky
If you want to flash froyo, you should flash jt1134's latest clockwork patch first. CWR is badly broken under froyo, and using fallingup's guide won't give you a useful recovery after DL09.
Most voodoo problems can be resolved by flashing a full odin recovery. Still, don't install voodoo unless you know why you want it. Some good reasons are a lot of file system lag like from massive email syncing etc. and kaos's CM alpha only world under voodoo kernels.
Actually the full recovery images fix most problems you can run into. Because of their usefulness and size, hosting them is burdensome - consider donating to the hoster out at least using a torrent if available.
You can use heimdall instead of odin. NEVER touch the [phone] button in the Odin user interface. If a flash fails, flash again - no point in rebooting a bad flash.
Manually rooting isn't very difficult. Do it at least once.
Learn the definitions of: kernel, modem/baseband/radio, and rom. Learn the difference between CWM and Odin, and how "flashing" works in each. I like to use the word install with zip roms and when using CWR in general to limit confusion, but both are capable of flashing images to your Fascinate's internal memory partitions.
Be comfortable with getting into both recovery and download mode before modifying your phone ib any way. Backup via nandroid and keep a folder of odin images on your computer and keep track of install.zips on your phone.
Watch out for update.zip getting overwritten, this should typically be clockwork recovery which installs temporarily to a RAM disk and then runs.
Be polite when posting, flames always generate a mess of useless posts.
Swyped w/ XDA App. When in doubt, mumble.
Know where to post. If you aren't actively developing something for the Fascinate, don't post a new thread in the development section. Even if you think your post is related to development, it most likely isn't, and belongs in the general section.
Read on voodoo before you actually install it. Like, study how to install, the benefits, how to disable and uninstall, and what to and not to flash with voodoo installed.
Don't feed the trolls, and feel free to ask questions, hopefully in the correct thread and/or section.
DONT FLASH STUFF FROM OTHER PHONES OR YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE!

If you are serious about Android then be prepared to read - that is the one thing which will separate you from the average user.
To get you started you will need to know a few basics before you can start contributing to a community which has dedicated themselves in bringing better Operating Systems (Roms) to our phones. By knowing these basic steps you will be able to help iron out bugs from whatever Rom you have decided to keep on your phone and thus, improving your own user experience.
If you are completely new to this then you should read Glevitan's Starter Guide. It contains everything you need to know and it is a mandatory prerequisite before you can post in this thread seaking help.
Now that you have read and understood some of the terminology and how to recover from possible issues, you can root your phone with the A high-level DHD/Inspire manual S-OFF hack concept for advanced users [NOTE: The AAHK HAS BEEN RETIRED FOR NOOBS. IT IS FOR ADVANCE USERS ONLY. REFER TO THIS STICKY INSTEAD [How to] ROOT without the Hack Kit] Even if you do encounter issues, knowing the terminology, what you did and what went wrong will help communicating your issue so we can find a way to solve it. If you read the starter guide you should know that we don't recommend using HTC dev to unlock your bootloader. However, if you did go this route you can read this helpful guide: [NOOB] Flashing a custom ROM & getting it to boot IF bootloader is htcdev unlocked. And finally, our own resident and esteemed Glevitan is working on a tool to make it easier for you all. [ROOT] [TOOL] Easy Ace Root Tool
After having spent some time in the XDA threads reading a lot more than what you should post, you will have realized that almost any question you could possibly think about has already been asked over a dozen times and why so many emphasize the importance of searching for your answer first. You would also come to realize what are the benefits of setting up ADB. Among one of ADB (Android debug Bridge - [GUIDE] ADB - Usage, Tips, Tricks and More! and [GUIDE]ADB Workshop and Guide for everyone) uses is creating logcats. These logcats help developers finding what is causing a bug and how to fix it. This is a quick [Tutorial] How To Logcat. However, this quick tutorial will only help you get started. Keep in mind that apps like aLogcat or Catlog could shorten important output from the log. Another one: Learn to logcat like a Pro!
To be able to help developers create a better user experience for us, we need to create a bug report. The reason why we first need to search the forum is to avoid confusing the developer by cluttering the thread with repeated reports, of bugs and questions which as mentioned earlier, most likely have already been asked. To have a better understanding of the different instances we can create logs, then have a look at: [TUT]Report a bug I do believe this can not be emphasized enough and thus, what better way than reading it from existz own words.

ABSTRACT
The present document pretends to guide the noobs and not so noobs in their flashing / modding / theming way. It covers what the team thought is the basic stuff you should be in knowledge of and may be the most helpful. Any suggestions about the contents or stuff that you think should be included are welcomed, just let us know.
Guide Index
1.Basic Stuff: In this section you will find the common language that is related to Android / HTC Ace devices. This is fundamental for you to understand how things work.
2.Rooting: THIS IS OUT OF SERVICE...CHECK THE UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER TOOL IN PARAGRAPH 4
3.Fixing a messed bootloader: You are not good at listening advices or reading for comprehension. You flashed a froyo RUU or hboot in your GB shipped device? Thank God attn1 was around. This is the Hboot fix for you. All credits go for the Hack Kit Channel devs. I have not done anything but put it here
4.HTCDEV tool: So far, this is the best and only way to do the flashing stuff....
5.Unrooting: In case you need to take your phone to the service centre or lost your mind and want the stock rom back (is there anybody that actually does? :cyclops ) you will find everything you need to know here.
6.Flashing roms: The right steps to flash successfully a custom rom…you can´t miss it. If you do, then you haven´t read carefully.
7.Doing / Restoring a nandroid backup: In case you mess it or you don't like what you get on a new rom, a nand backup is what will save your A**. Follow the path and you will see the light at the end of the tunnel.
8.Radio / RILs: All the radio / RILs related issues, follow this or you will regret it!!
9.Kernels: Everything you always wanted to know about kernels but you didn't dare to ask. Links on line now..:silly:
10.Trouble shooting: I guess this will be the most visited section of the guide. OF COURSE YOU DIDN´T READ THE ABOVE. NOW YOU ARE HERE BUDDY FIX YOURSELF A GOOD READ
11.Customization: For those who would like to start customizing your devices, here you will find a good point of start but THIS IS JUST THE BEGUINNING [/QUOTE]
12.Battery drain issues: I HAVE FLASHED A NEW ROM AND MY BATTERY IS DRAINING WAY TO FASSSSSST!. Well that could be normal, just read and learn before you run out of battery...lol

FAQ & Notice
FAQ :
What Is the Best Battery,Performance GB/ICS/JB ROM?
There is no best ROM, the opinion of each ROM is different from one person to the other, it is subjective.
Is there a recommended Radio for ROM x?
There isn't a recommended radio for any ROM, since the Radio depends where you live, it is best to test each one for a few days to see which one works best for you.
Can I Flash RIL For AOSP ROM?
No, the RIL is sense based ROM,AOSP RIL is provided in the ROM
How Can I Boot in Recovery/Bootloader if My Volume Rocker is Broken?
You must setup adb and then the command:
adb reboot recovery/bootloader
Why Don't We Have Any OFFICIAL CM9 ROM?
Because the CM team always makes everything work (camera, camcorder, etc) and since we don't have the kernel 3.0 source, there isn't any OFFICIAL CM ROM from them.
Is There Any Official Rooted Sense 3.0 ROM?
Yes, There it is
Notice when Posting On the Dev Thread :
Please Read the First Post, It Usually Stated What's Working and Not Working
Don't Post Any THANKS, just use the thanks button
Don't Even Ask ETA of the ROM, the ROM will update when it's ready
Full Wipe Is Recommended when Updating the ROM, but also can try it without (this is basic, even if it's not stated on 1st post)
ADB is easy, very simple to use. Its the CLI interface that most cannot get used to and are afraid of.
A great XDA guide/overview on ADB here. --> [GUIDE] ADB - Usage, Tips, Tricks and More!
After a full wipe including sd card, to restore a backup mount sd card to pc, create the folder "clockworkmod/backup" place backup there - unmount, flash.
Is there a way to flash a backup using adb? If yes, do the folders need to be created or not and what would the command be? I couldn't find an answer for that.
Edit: Answer is no. Why? I have no clue.

@hdorius - what do you know to do? Didn't you port paranoidandroid? The faq's look good but needs some editing/correction. Where are you from? What's your first language? Do you need help with that?
@Guy - what happened buddy? In the previous page I suggested a few things. Apps? It depends what the others think. I don't see this as a standard.
@miukkuman - where are you?
By the way, where are you from? What do you know to do in the android world or what are you interested in learning?
@everyone - the idea behind this thread is:
- I rather ask each one of you to tell me what you understood which is the idea behind this thread - what you understood. If you didn't understand then I'll need to find a better way to explain myself.
Don't forget to let me know if you know the adb question above.

ok, before sending the file via PM, I can answer you...there's no choice of restoring a backup from adb. That is the same as flashing a Custom Rom....those files are packed in a certain way that won't be possible to be flashed in hboot (PD98IMG.zip) way.

Thanks bub, so no can do. I don't believe in 'no can do's
Did you read my question about the hboot interface in the other thread? This, and the above question is simply a language (which I know absolutely nothing about) - there must be a way to get them talking to each other.

Anything you like really, it's your show. Porting? There are plenty guides for that. If you know any good ones I can link them in the third post. Can you look through the ones I posted to see which are good and if there are any ones that are repetitive or if there are better ones than the ones I posted? Especially the flashable zip link, since I don't know anything about that, maybe there is a betrer one or a guide or a tool for it?
I'll pm you in about 20 minutes.

Greets to all
Greets to all from another noob. Well, not a complete noob but a noob here on XDA given my few posts. My deep thanks for allowing a thread where sometimes there just might not be such a thing as a stupid question but honest ones instead,.... Hoping I can contribute something here as an owner of a softbank DHD here in Kyoto, Japan aka the 001HT. I spend alot of time trying to dig up general info from all over the i'net to help answer questions especially for ACE owners so I hope that might be of some help. Grant Barker's homepage is a great resource, (hope its allowed to mention that~). My first minor contribution------ 64GB MicroSD card usage with the DHD. It may already be well-known but for all us noobs who aren't too sure make no mistake..... I have the SanDisk Class 10 64GB MicroSD card and it works flawlessly in my DHD. Since I like to pack lots of MP3's and several full-length HD movies into my handset (helps keep the kids quiet on long drives ) being able to have that much storage space is a blessing! So, just to reiterate, 64GB microSD card--- no problems!

Thanks for the feedback Blashpemer666, hopefully you manage to refrain yourself in front of the kids.
Absolutely, we were all noobs, still are and probably remain being noobs. There is too much information to cover and too little time to do it in. We here are just trying to return to the community what they have given us by helping the new members whenever they need it and whenever we can, to the best of our knowledge, by pointing them in the right direction. Any and all suggestions are welcome.
Check the second post, it has been updated.
@glevitan, pm.ed you.
@hdorius, same to you. There are a few mistakes in the pm I sent.
To the Moderators:
This is a try at lowering the rate of repeated questions in the CyanogenMod 10.1 official nightlies // discussion thread. I am aware that this thread would probably belong in the "Q&A" section, but I fear that it will get buried and forgotten there. I beg you to consider the idea of this thread and leave it in the "General" section.
Have you flashed a CyanogenMod 10.1 official nightly? Do you have questions and problems? This post is here to help you!
Please read the entirety of this post before asking questions in the CyanogenMod 10.1 official nightlies // discussion thread!
It is assumed that you have read the first post of the CM10.1 thread (called "the OP" in the following).
If you were not able to find your information by yourself, or would not have been able to without this thread, you should reconsider flashing a CM10.1 NIGHTLY.
I will not answer Questions in this thread.
I get a "status 7" message when flashing with CWM!
It seems you are running PhilZ Kernel or a derivative of it. This kernel seems to be broken and unable to flash. Flash Siyah, Dorimanx or any other Kernel via CWM or ODIN, boot to Recovery and try again.
My phone asks for a PIN or some other code which I don't have!
You have a SIM.Locked Phone which was unlocked via an exploit. Samsungs kernel-update fixes a few issues, including those exploits. Use GalaxSim Unlock to re-unlock your phone.
Youtube/Market/GMail crashes!
You need to flash the corresponding 4.2.1 GApps, currently 20121212.
The Clock app (or any other app) crashes!
Go to Settings -> Apps -> All -> Clock (or whatever it was) and delete it's data.
Are there any other kernels supporting CM10.1?
As far as I know, all Siyah-based Kernels should work. Remember that you are not supposed to post on the CyanogenMod 10.1 official nightlies // discussion thread when using a different kernel.
I have flashed [insert any kernel here], now my phone won't boot!
The kernel obviously does not support CM10.1/Android 4.2.1. Reflash the ROM to get the stock kernel back.
Where are the developer and performance options?
Google has hidden them. With good reason. You can render your phone unbootable if you use those incorrectly. To quote Codeworkx: "bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed."
If you apsolutely need to use them, tap Build Number until you are a developer (about 7 times).
I unlocked the Developer Options and tried to use "Simulate Screens". Now my screen is black and won't turn on again!
That is why one does not simply mess around with the dev options. Reboot your phone and press vol. down while it's booting. This will boot it to Secure Mode, where you can go and untick "Simulate Screens". Fixed.
I cannot find Photosphere! Will it be added?
No. Photosphere is not open source and therefore only available for Nexus devices.
Charging speed is very slow!
Due to hardware limitations, there are only three possible charging speeds, one of which is never used. The others are 450mA on USB and 650mA on the charger. Your phone is either draining power while being charged (media scanner?) or has a problem with the USB connector. Try cleaning it CAREFULLY or find the app responsable for the drain with BetterBetteryStats.
I want to disable the Lockscreen Widgets
Use Lockscreen Policy from the Play Store
The weather Icon of Chronus does not show on the lockscreen!
You can maximize widgets in the Lockscreen Settings. All your Lockscreen widgets will be maximized after turining the screen on. If you want to know why there's no better Option read this.
Sometimes I get freezes when scrolling through long lists!
I have never experienced this. People suggest that ticking "Force GPU Rendering" in Developer Options solves this. Other People suggest that forcing GPU rendering breaks other things, e.g. the keyboarld leaves a black space in WhatsApp. I have never experienced this, neither.
My Car Stereo/Handsfree/other Bluetooth device does not work correvtly!
All AOSP 4.2.1 ROMs including the Nexus 4 seem to have problems with Bluetooth, or more specifically A2DP. Rumour has it that it will be fixed in 4.2.2.
I get "Out of storage" messages and can no longer install Apps!
Viber and Lucky pacher are known to trigger this. Try to move them to your external SD card. If that doesn't do the trick, search /data/apps for .odex files and delete them.
I get tons of dumpstate_ril_RESET_BY_CP_SILENTRESET.log files at /data/log !
These are logs of RIL crashes. Do NOT use GetRIL to fix this. Use this instead. These zips flash modem, RIL and a few other related files. They are much more reliable than GetRIL. You can also try to Flash XXLS8 without RIL and hen reflash CM, it comes with XXLS8 RIL.
The rotation- and the acceleration sensor do not work anymore!
Deactivating tilt to scroll in Chrome should help.
Real Racing 3/Simpsons/other games crash after a very short time!
Blamesung. This is a problem with the current mali driver (mali is the graphics chip). Do not expect it to be fixed. There is a possibility to flash older drivers and fix the gaming issues (see siyah kernel), but that will bring the graphical glitches in the UI and keyboard back.
UPDATE: It seems to me that it's not the mali driver, but the audio HAL acting up. I have sudden loss of audio and a game crash a few seconds after, most prominently in World of Goo, and some people report that disabling all things audio via in-game controls fixes the crashing.
I still have a problem that was not discussed here!
Reflash the ROM and wipe cache and dalvik cache in Recovery. Reboot. Delete the data of the app that is misbehaving. Search the CyanogenMod 10.1 official nightlies // discussion thread to see if anyone has had this problem before you, and if there is a fix. If all of this fails, ask in that thread and someone will hopefully try to help you.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
I have moved on to a Sony Xperia Z. I will not trouble myself with keeping myself, the OP or the thread up to date. If you have very common problems and a solution, PM me and I'll update the OP. If you want to take over the management of this thread, PM me and we'll find a solution.
Happy flashing and bye!
this thread s completely useless... when we have a discussion thread and one development thread in original forum what was the necessity of this'd thread.. does q & a or discussion means different? think before starting a new thread..
I have been considering CM10.1 and aren't too bothered about some of the bugs but the GPS one does concern me. I use my phone as my everyday satnav, does this GPS bug mean that the navigation app is currently useless on CM10.1?

True, All of the above answers are completely useless, because they have been answered countless times alerady. But still people ask them, sometimes the same question twice in the same thread page. But instead of flaming the questioners, yelling at them, i try to answer them in one, easy to find place. It is an experiment to see if maybe the original thread gets cleaner with this, and more efficient at solving the real problems as well as discussing issues and solutions. In my oppinion, telling people to tap the build number 7 times does not count as discussion...

In my oppinion, telling people to tap the build number 7 times does not count as discussion...

I like the experiment an totally agree to the spirit of not flaming.:good:
But I am afraid it will not really help. Too much users who prefer to just ask instead of doing some honest searching.

updated OP with the answer.
How to get Root access of ADB on this CM 10.1 version?
How to get Root access of ADB on this CM 10.1 version?
On earlier CM version 10 there was "Developer options" in settings were I could simply change that, in "Root access" section.
My problem is that i get this: (shell has been denied superuser permissions) on my Samsung galaxy tab2 7.0 when trying to install app's wirelessly from my computer using "APK Batch Installer" that I found on the internet, ow and on the tab I use adbWireless app.
Typing "su" in terminal emulator and getting access to it doesn't work.
I am trying to solve this for few days and I just now found out that on CM 10 version everything would work if i would get ADB access, so I ended here asking for help. :fingers-crossed:
P.S. Sorry.. Writing this i didn't notice that this treat is for specifically one phone, that's because I googled this But any help would be appreciated.

Maybe you could ask the mods or TS in this thread to merge, add or link your OP.
It'll help that thread by just pointing queries to the OP.
Good job collecting those info btw.

If you get problems installing cm10.1 using the leaked version of Samsung jelly beans insecure kernel. You don't have to flash a kernel using odin.. If you flash sky fires dream kernel.. Reboot recovery and install cm10.1 from this kernel.. Everything works great.

Hello everyone,
I am new to the Nexus 4 community however not new to XDA. I have survived an HD2 and also a T989 GSII. I have had so much success with XDA and I am looking forward to working with community of folks over here. I got a Nexus 4 (being delivered Monday) to enjoy the Android experience. However the more I look over it the more I feel it lacks some of the features that I enjoyed with previous custom roms like Toggles on the notification panel for example. I know there are many apps that will accomplish the same thing but why use all these 3rd party apps when you can flash a decent rom and get a better experience with often better battery life. I am coming from an All Star Developer ROM that is a compilation ROM ( CM10, AOKP & PA )
I apologize for the rambling. I need to know:
1: What is the difference between Original Android Dev and Android Development forums? GSII did not have two forums so I was a little confused.
2: For a genuine NEXUS device, are there still bugs in ROMS? RR, SOD, GPS not working, etc? This is not a huge issue with most GSII roms I just wondered if you guys experience this at all with this phone being stock Android already. I wouldn't think this would be the case.
3: I have done my research and I am ready to move on with rooting and probably Romming. Is there anything else maybe that would be noteworthy that is specific to the Nexus line of devices. This is a vague question so don't worry with it too much. I am just curious.
Thanks everyone! I can't wait till Monday!

Thanks for the info! I guess more specifically I need to know the difference between the "Original" Development thread and just the "Development" thread. Should I refer to one more than another?
Also, in reference to toolkits. I am just curious where the issue lies with that? Because honestly that is exactly what I was going to do. I am not lazy, just efficient lol. I figure why do alot of manual driver installs and command prompts if someone created a program that would do it for you? (I reference links below) Is it faulty software? Badly written programs etc? I would think there would be more room for human error when doing it yourself vs. something automated. What are your thoughts on this? Has anyone else had luck using the toolkits in the links? or any other rooting toolkits? Thanks again!

Because, you learn something very important while rooting & unlocking your phone. Human error is covered for by the step by step guide. Human error while using the toolkit, you're stuck trying to understand what the fck happened. Learn fastboot mate. Learn to control your device to a 100%, learn to fix it if it's stuck. Understand what happens with "fastboot OEM unlock". Do you know what that means btw..?
The difference between Original Development & Development is in the quote I posted above. Paranoid Android = Original.
TWRP Recovery = Original
"XYZ" Rom based on cm 10.1 + abcd theme = Development.

PLEASE make sure to thank developer for the dedication to this ROM
Please do not clutter the Development thread with non-development related chatter
See post 2 for FAQ
FAQ
Q Why a special Q&T Thread for a specific ROM??
A The bigger a ROM development thread gets, the greater the chance that posts are being placed in this thread that are not related to the ROM development itself, e.g. problems with flashing, installation, bugs, things not working etc. However this is understandable, it's not according to the guidelines of XDA for Development sections. Therefore the main goals of the ROM specific Q&T threads is to avoid this cluttering of the original develpment thread with these OT posts by redirecting the posters to the ROM specific Q&T thread and also to relieve the developer from answering these post, so he can dedicate his time to developing.
Q How to move my post to the Q&A/T thread?
A Copy the text of your post in the dev's thread, got to the Q&A/T thread and paste it there. After having done that, go back to the dev's thread, edit your post and change the text into: moved to Q&A/T thread, preferably accompanied with a link to this thread.
Q When I'm asked to move my post to the Q#A/T thread, do I have to do that?
A When you're asked to move your post, there will always be given an explanation by the OP of the Q&A/T, e.g. your post is not development related (f.i. SD card problems, etc), so please be so kind to move your post. If you want to help the dev to keep his original thread as clean as possible from OT posts, then the answer is, of course, YES. Although we cannot force you to move your post, it's highly recommended to do so
Q Where can I download this ROM and How do I install?
A You can find the link to download and installation instructions HERE. Pay close attention to this post, everything required for a successful flash is listed right here. If you fail to follow the instructions or meet the requirements for installation, you could run into some problems.
Q What are the known issues with these ROM's?
A See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341484
Q How’s battery life?
A see this question asked repeatedly across all ROMS. Honestly there is no way to give you an answer based on a ROM. There are too many variables in question and results vary from user to user and device to device. Battery life is going to depend on age and condition of your battery, your use habits with your device, installed apps, tweaks, settings, etc...
Q How do I...
A Ask your questions and report your issues in this thread. You will receive a response and hopefully get you back up and running this ROM to it's fullest
Hi my dear followers of this ROM,
in this post I will explain the goal of this specific thread created for this ROM with the permission of the Developer of this ROM:
This is a statement made in the Q&A/T template thread:
"While our forum has slowly been morphing, the one area we would like to keep original is Development
The goal is to alleviate the OT banter that occurs within any rom. While the XDA forum continues to grow, we need to help users work within the guidelines created by XDA. Over the last couple of years the average rom being created, has become a free for all chat thread. There tends to be much infighting and mod/developer cleaning.
The idea of this template is to create a Questions and Answers for each rom. This is in no way asking for Development to be moved here, rather any and all conversation that is non Development related to your conjoined Q&A."
This means that non-development related posts, should be posted - with the permission of the Dev - in this thread. What are the most common Off Topic posts, that should be posted in this Q&A/T thread?
1. Battery life related posts
2. Will this app work with this ROM
3. SD Card related problems
4. How do I dowmload and install this ROM, etc
Hope to have given you enough information,
kindest regards, Kuzibri
Off topic posts or not in the original Dev's thread?
Hi All Followers of this ROM,
a certain post of a member of one of my Dev's ROM for whom I created a Q&a/T thread set me to think and reconsider what kind of posts is OT or not and how to deal with that.
It is not my intention to be overly strict about what is or is not an OT post, you should decide before you post whether you think it is OT. Consider whether the development of the ROM is helped by your post. Consider also whether someone in the future, searching through the thread, would find your post useful or would it just take up bandwidth.
If there is any doubt as to whether a post is OT, i will not ask you for it to be moved.
If I do decide your post is OT, I will ask you to move it.
If you think it is not OT, please post your reasons in this Q&A thread, quoting post number.
If I or the developer then agree with you, I will delete my post in the dev thread asking you to move it, and the post can stay.
I hope this makes it all clearer.
kindest regards, Kuzibri
Hi,
first, many thanks for kuzibri for creating & monitoring this thread.
My approach to the Q/A thread is to have a place for free discussion where you can share your experience, thoughts about the ROM without posts being deleted by mods. Posts like "Guys, what colors do you use for x and y app?" or "Omg have you seen the new tabUI of the app x and y? Awesome!" Feel free to ask questions as well like described in the above posts from kuzibri.
I do not want to have a strict dev thread in the dev forum though so bugs, errors, issues, install problems, general usage reports or anything development related, etc should still go there.
I am new to the HALO feature on PA. Could you give me a step by step. I installed on NativeSD. It works smoothly as of now. I have not tested it thoroughly, but swiping through screens, opening & closing apps work smoothly.
I could not find how to start HALO. I am really interested .
Partho
Assuming that this ROM is the same as PA on the N4, you start halo by pulling down your notification tray and clicking on the halo icon. It then disappears off your screen but you'll be able to receive all of your notifications in halo once they appear.

Yes, you have to download the HALO))) app from play store and you can permanently pin any app you want.
Hi NxStep, NativeSD install on existing ext4 partition alongside other roms.
Wifi, data, halo, 3rd party wifi tethering (barnacle), pie, camera, camcorder all working. Rom is fast and smooth.
Excellent job, thanks.:highfive:
Edit; You may want to install dataGR nativeSD app in future builds
and @kuzibri you may want to change the title of this thread to reflect the new build number 3.68 thanks
Intalled the v1.2 of this ROM via Magldr with data and system in ext4 so pure Native SD.
Super user is missing I noticed. I downloaded SuperSu but required binary update. Tried it but wont continue to update.
What is the exact fixed? Looks like not an issue to everyone. Appreciate anyone assistance.

What do you mean by dataGR? I forgot to change something in the installer script that's why the nativeSD app is missing this time, my bad. Will change in the next release!
If you have some spare time, can you test native wifi tethering for me? Because it seems to start for me but my laptop cannot see the network created by the phone. I'm just curious if it works for someone else.

How is it "missing"? Is the superuser option present in the settings? Or did an app try to get su rights and it failed?
Did you install the USB mass storage app? Because it messed up SU for me once. Apart from that it should work well.

Yes I tried to runTitanium backup after the install but failed to run - no root access. So downloaded and installed first the SuperUser but TT still failed to run. Uninstalled it then installed the Supersu but also did not work. I will try again from scratch and see.

Hi NxStep, yes I meant the NativeSD app written by datagr (sorry mis-spelt name)
Same with me with native wifi tethering, it starts but does not show up on PC. The icon does not appear in notification bar if using encryption. When using open network the icon appeared once but still did not show up on pc.
BTW, I installed titanium backup and the rom granted su rights no problems. Sometimes TB breaks root, happened on tytungs 4.2.2 rom too I think.
I tried to install your Rom with magldr on nativsd (i also have tytungs cm10.1 installed) but i got stuck in the bootscreen i waited for almost an hour but there was the bootscreen all the time i don't know what to do i did a wipe via armoma befor installing can you pleas hell me?

I'm having a problem with NAND installation + DataOnExt. If I put both data and system into nand, system works really fast. But if I use the ext partition on my SD card for data, it slows down very much. I know it shouldn't, because my friend's HD2 doesn't slow down like this. I tried reformatting the second partition into ext3 and ext4, but it didn't help and now I have no idea, what could I do. Any suggestions?

It could be your sdcard, it might be slower than your friend's one.
Also did you format the sdcard ext4 partition with recovery?
The more information people give here when posting problems, the more chance someone will be able to solve them.

My SD Partition was 200MB, then I resized it into 400MB, but nothing changed. I don't think my friend has faster SD.
I formatted the partition via recovery, but I made it using PC.
EDIT: Well, nevermind. It was laggy only when I was trying to unlock the screen and a few minutes after ROM installation. Now I found out that laggy unlocking was PA's bug.
hello, I really enjoying your PA rom but i have run into some random issue
HD2 from tmobile with 1024 U.S
I have HD2_Extended_TWRP_2.6.0.0 recovery installed and Magldr loader, and using 400/10 partition size/cache size
I'm using NAND install option from your installer
I had to reinstall your rom 2 times already so far, first time my notification bar disappear completely, than second time I got constant "system UI not responding" error, am I missing something?
