Is there any Android hack to up the volume of the speaker? I have a hard time hearing it in my car or around anyone.
Sent from your Mom's Jitterbug
I was wondering the same thing. I can hardly hear anyone. While we're at it, it'd be nice to boost the headphone jack volume as well.
You can use mixzing player or poweramp to make the volume louder playing music, now for calls I don't know.

Use DSPManager.
Anyone know of any presets available for DSPManager? Will it work with winamp or the stock player?

This increases the speakerphone volume for calls? I tried it and it seemed to do nothing unless I did something wrong.
I don't think it effects speakerphone, just music played. Poweramp has a nice EQ with a few presets and you can always make it "louder" by cranking the preamp. Doubtful that your speaker sitch can handle the preamp as it distorts clarity, but it can make music louder. PreAmp is a ****ty player for day to day though cuz navigating to artists involves several touches. I guess I can just write down the levels of my custom preset in PowerAmp and apply those to DSPS

Yeah, the low speaker volume bugs me, but apparently they can here me just clearly, can talk less than average volume (why couldn't it be like that for the receiving end too? :/)
Wish there was a fix OP, we'll just have to wait.
Yea I have to say I miss my TP2 and all those cab files lol thanks for the responses.
Dsp did nothing for me either. Guess its waiting time. Would anyone know where the volume is controled? Is it an android or kernel variable?

Anyone find out anything new about this? DSPManager does help some. But it would really be nice to be able to turn up the speaker volume louder.
Yeah speaker is way too low

Dont use any app... if your on sence you can just turn on hearing aid mode. gives you all kinds of range. Now if your on aosp ( cm7 ) use dsp manager or something.
Never thought of that, it seems to make a little difference, not a ton but a little. Now if someone can find a way to remove the icon
Hi folks, can anyone recommend a good music player. Would new great if it could also download mp3's but guess that's asking for too much. There are just so many out there
Thanks.

Stock Galaxy S is the best IMHO. I wish I could get it on my Atrix.
If you want to explore 3rd party then you might want to give Winamp a chance...

PowerAMP is really great.
Anyway, no matter what music player you take, dont forget to combine it with a voodoo sound app/kernel
Thanks guys, got the full voodoo app, just wish there was 1 app to play, download, recognise, show lyrics and allow you to place library where you wanted, would pay a lot for that, sigh!

MIUI or Winamp - I use both
i love the look of the MIUI music player its really nice, with some nice features
And Winamp lets me sync with my PC so i have all my music from my hard drive sent to my phone via WiFi - love this feature
Definitely PowerAmp. It's worthed. Best sound quality and features.

i too love stock player, with one major issue thou, if choose albums, or folders view, and switch to thumbnail view, and than exit player, it doesn't remember where i was, but open 'ALL view' every time player starts, it's really retarded behavior, from eclair to froyo, all the same
is there any workaround for this?
DoubleTwist
mortplayer if you wan t play folders
C3 if you like a good visual interface
Another vote for PowerAMP...just an excellent all around player with a great EQ and presets.

PowerAmp, I've tried loads but none of them really match it, having said that I use FLAC rather than mp3. Player Pro is another decent alternative
meridian, why?
one may say it is ugly but
you can build playlist by picking files
you can play folders
you can select cue playlist
it can also play flac files
and it is also very good for video
i've only used stock SGS player and poweramp so far (both with voodoo sound module) and, regarding audio quality, the stock player is by far superior in my opinion.
just compare them by yourself and you'll find out how much weaker poweramp sounds.
there's also the new music player from launcherpro's dev, which has a really well done zune/metro interface. it's really smooth and it comes with widget, artworks download etc..it will also feature an EQ in the next builds if you are on gingerbread. on froyo you can use voodoo hw EQ which will come in the next realeases of the app.

PowerAmp is great, but once it gets running it never wants to quit. Has anybody figured out how to stop it from running in the background, and draining juice after you quit.? It's the main reason I stick with the stock player, which has a bunch of features if you dig deep enough.
DoubleTwist, simple and powerfull, free and combining a lot of features. Good replacement for the stock player.

There is a Music Player named ³.
just type "music player" without "" in the market and scroll down. you ´ll find it quick because of its short name.
It cant download music but it has the best design for me and an equalizer. Its free and AD-free.

SGS with Voodoo my experience and help required!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have SGS with Voodoo for last couple of months. Would love to share my experience here:
With Voodoo sound takes quantum leap from stock
I am at 2.2 froyo and Voodoo control at the moment. It has good mid range, punchy with my Brainwavz M2 and better than most phones I have ever heard, still not as detailed as most reviews make me believe
With control plus (I bought it few days back), sound quality deteriorated for me. Very muddy. So, i revoked superuser permission went back to free ver and it is much better
Yesterday tried to compare iPhone 4 with my SGS, same song, Brainwavz M2 and Senn CX 400 as earphones. I dont like to admit but iPhone was much better than SGS - Bass, clarity, stereo effect (Most pronounced); I noticed some parts which I never thought were there. SGS was much louder for sure but over all I was a bit dissapointed with SGS.
My questions to people in forum - is it my earphone? Am I doing anything wrong? I am in Darky's 9.5 with kernel having voodoo sound implementation.
I use stock and poswer amp and feel without any eq or effects, poweramp is a bit better than stock although stock's ui (in Darky's rom) is much better
Can my SGS sound as good as iPhone 4? I had huge hopes before gettign SGS after reading views of people in XDA and here. Overall I would still buy SGS again, it beats iPhone every other parameter..but SQ is close to my heart!
I couldnt post this in dev's forum as i am new and I feel most of the others here would know better than me
Any answers are welcome!
Is there any iPod touch look-a-like players? I love the ui of my Touch music player and would like to get similar to my SGS when I get it soon...
PowerAMP and the one from miui are very good
One criticism of my N7 is that the max volume is too low. I am hearing impaired, but don't have this issue with any other device I use. Whether the speakers or headphones, it is just too low. I think I have tried every free volume setting or boosting app on Google Play and none of them seem to do a thing. My device is rooted with the stock 4.2. I am not particularly interested in loading a custom ROM just for this, but if that is the only solution I might. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Don't do it. I blew my speakers with a booster app.
A better solution ( and with better results ), is to get a bluetooth external speaker. A friend of mine has one of these, and I was surprised by the
amount of volume coming from it in a 20 by 20 room. and he only paid 30 bucks for it.
you can try this... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889522

Youre lucky! Or maybe I am doing something wrong.
The volume through headphones while watching movies using the Google Play Movie app is so low as to border on unusable. Unless you are in a very quiet environment, my experience is you can barely hear the dialogue even at max volume.
Wish there was a way to fix this, as watching movies on airplanes is a primary reason I bought the Nexus 7 and its quite poor for that.
I'm in the same boat. With 4.3 installed headphone volume is limited to 50% on movie/music playback, No warning ever pops up, and all the "audio booster" apps say they only work with Gingerbread.
So from November 2012 when I got my phone I have tried any thing came to my mind to solve this problem but nothing worked for me!!!
I'm very sensitive about music quality and I really can't stand this anymore!!! My volume is very low even when I crank it to the max!!! I mostly use my Dr Dre Studio headphones and sometimes my Beats Tours... I've tried several other headphones and didn't get any result
When I connect my Studio headphones to my laptop and I listen to the same track that I have on my phone it's super load like if I turn up the volume to the max I really go deaf!!! So I'm pretty sure it's not from my headphones... I know that the phone's amplifier is not as powerful as my laptop but still ... I think it is not normal, I also notice some other people have the same problem as me!!!
So these are the things I have tried already:
1. Using other mp3 player apps such as PlayerPro, PowerAMP, Winamp and .... none of them made any difference and the equalizer simply just mess up the quality of the track...
2. I have used all the mods like Beats Xlouder and such and they also just lowered the quality
3. All of my tracks are MP3 320kbps/flac audio format... still I tried to increase the audio using Audacity by amplifying the dB... It helped but not really noticeable.
Currently I don't have root access but if something can really help I'd be willing to root my device... like kernel or something! Please help

Please tell me you're being sarcastic...
Well...
A ) There's something wrong with your ear.
or
B ) You have a defective unit. My headphones are waaaayyyy too loud even at half volume. If it's really that bad, ask for an exchange unit. If you're adventurous, root and custom rom it. Might see a change.

Google Nexus 4 Volume low you can probably see people having the same problem I you think I'm lying
If you think you can help please give me a solution to my problem...
Imma be as descriptive as possible with my fix.
ROOT YOUR PHONE!
1. Install Trinity kernel. (Its the only kernel I've gotten this to work with)
2. Flash Misledz audio mod, keep up with the latest ones as in my opinion she really knows what she's doing and the quality gets better and better.
3. Once the mod is installed Titanium Backup / Rom Toolbox remove the 4 system apps installed by Misledz audio mod.
-Awesome beats, -Noozy Player, -Noozxoide, -Dolby Digital App.
4. Reboot wipe cache / dalvik in recovery, reboot.
5. Go to the market and download the latest Noozxoide, set up to your musical preference.
Now you can omit some parts such as keeping 3 of the apps, but I find awesome beats not to work at all, the libs in the mod does though. That's why I remove the apps. I listen to a lot of bass heavy music (rap / old school hip-hop). This method is a night and day difference in loudness and audio quality.
I genuinely hope this helps everyone.:good:
dude Awesome beats is the worst ... plus I'm not rooted any more
but I heard there is a kernel that increases the volume
Not awesome beats. Misleadz audio mod. Trinity kernel makes your audio louder naturally. With the audio mod trust me you'd give me an e-hug in gratitude (no homo). I had the same problem. This method I posted works.
I give it try thanks a lot

try lower impedence headphones?
and/ or a small headphone amp, eg. the fiio?

Haha told ya!
What type of earphones or headphones do you use anyway? I'm using the V-Moda LP2's and they sound fantastic. They do need an amp to get the total feel but with Poweramp's equalizer, I have been pretty impressed.
Is there anyway to increase with the S5 thru headphones? I used to use DSP manager with my old phone and it made a world of difference... Also is there anyway to get better signal. There are times I have 1x signal but my phone wont do anything thru the internet..
Bump anyone?
Check the themes and apps thread thought I saw a mod in there. I personally changed my settings in (mixer paths) with root browser.

You could use viper and use AGC to raise the volume. Though I seem to remember an actual volume boost. But then it seemed to disappear. You can also use an EQ as a pre-amp. If it does not have a gain slider just boost all the frequencies the same amount. Start with +3db with your volume low and then bring up your volume. You got to be careful to not overdrive the preamp stage so go slow. If it does start distorting you can pull the bass frequencies to sacrifice some bass for volume. Bass frequencies take the most power so small changes can get you some more headroom.
If you have hard to drive phones you could get a cheap/small DAC. If there aren't already there will be volume hacks coming.
Have you tried anything from the Play Store for more volume?

Broadley1: what do i do? What is the mod called? Im on stock S5
ezas: I havent tried the playstore yet. Figured i would ask here before I bloat my cellphone more than it already is.. Would really appreciate it if there is a app or some tweak to boost volume as it seems somewhat low compared to my old HTC EVO
If you are not rooted you can't use viper ?
Just search on volume in the play store. If you need it is not boat is it.
I used my headphones for music yesterday and it was plenty loud at 1/2 volume.
Light bulb just went off. Sound alive has an EQ. As I said just boost (each slider) them all a little bit at a time.
Give it a try and I'll subscribe to this thread.

ezas: what do you use to get it loud enough at only 50%? I just checked sound alive & the EQ is literally all the way up on everything. However, i think that EQ is only for the music player right? Its not for incoming calls ?
Yes that's true. Sound Alive is only going to help music. LOL I didn't really think that through.
I haven't been playing with my phone much so I can't offer much help.
Is it volume for speaker, headphone or both.
And what do you men by volume at 50%?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Free mobile app
In your reply you said at 50% yours is plenty loud thru headphones. I mainly care about the volume thru headphones & when making calls but increasing speaker volume would help too for incoming calls. I wish there was something as effective as the DSP app I used to have but was only useable thru root...
Root is SUPER EASY on this phone. I used it in the car today and I had to turn it all the way up but at that level it was driving my car stereo fine.
What headphones do you have? Are they considered 'hard to drive'?

The headphones I have worked fine with my old HTC Evo 4g however I needed to be rooted & tweak the eq curves under the app called DSP Manager. Without this app the sound was also pretty low on my old phone. Ezas what ROM are you using on the S5? If the phone bricks or something goes wrong will verizon void the warranty if I need to bring it in?
