So I rooted my Intercept yesterday, and I read atleast 10 threads on items safe for removal. However AFTER deleting google talk I stumbled across a forum post informing me I was screwed. Gmail and the Market will not work now. I tried reinstalling google apps 3 times, and also hard reseting my phone atleast 5 times to no avail. I am not sure what to do now. What can I do to fix this? Would flashing it with the stock image work? I am not opposed to flashing it with something custom, I just dont know if that would work seeing as though a hard reset wouldnt work. I am at a loss. I have spent countless hours searching, and everyone else seemed to fix their problem but I was unable to. Maybe I need samsung intercept vm apps dump from someone to restore ALL original apps in case I deleted something else as well? I know....my noob mistake for being cocky and not dooing a backup myself. Please help me.

I am having this problem recently. I try to download any app or an update to any app. It will just sit at starting download and never download.
I am on Fresh ROM 1.0
I did update some apps after installing the ROM so that's not the problem.
I also have a problem that if I clear the cache, when I reboot Everything force and keeps force closing forever. Whats up with that? isn't the cache supposed to recompile on reboot?
I tried clearing the cache to fix the market issue to no avail (beacuse of all the force closes never got to see what happened after clearing cache). I tried clearing the cache from recovery and using Fresh's app installer, and both times tons of force closes.
Someone please HELP!
U probably need to login to gtalk. I had the same problem from using autostarts. Jus open the gtalk app, it will/should sign u in automatically.
this is not a gtalk issue. gtalk is not even related to what problem he has. i had it happen to me on my eris when i was playing around in the bootloader. when i started back up everything force closed and would not start. only sugetion i can give you on the force close it is a factory reset or ruu reset both will work. as far as downloads not starting are you rooted?
Yes, to install a custom ROM you need to be rooted. Tried the gtalk sing in to fix the Market issue and no dice. Still hanguing...
Anything else??

So I'm not going to call you out or something, but please read before you speak. Gtalk is MAJORLY tied in to the market and it is a documented fix from google themselves to try signing in to gtalk to fix stalled downloads.
Even though it doesn't work for everyone (depending on the reason it's stalled) it IS related.

Hundreds (maybe thousands?) of posts. Starting back in March and dating all the way until today. Google hasn't been able to resolve the issue. I can tell you that what has always worked for me is a combination of cancel download > disable wifi > disable mobile data > enable mobile data > try download again.
Didn't work? Reboot and repeat. Eventually it will go......
Thanks a lot flipz. I'll try that

95% of the time your second sugestion works. it may be that gtalk has major issues with stalled downloads but ussually i have this issue when i start my download over wifi for some reason it just never connect to the google server but when i kill the download and connect over 3G or Edge it works everytime on my G1. that's been a documented fix too. this issue only happens more frequently on custom roms than stock android roms. so it's more of a rom issue that googe issue. we're all here to help each other not trash talk each other. from my point of veiw gtalk may have some type of issue but it's more with the rom cooks than the app itself and it's not their fault either gtalk was desighned to work on googles cookie cutter os not on the home brew roms so errors happen you just have to know how to sweat talk your andoid to doing things when issues happen. the problem i had with your post was you only stated the gtalk issue when the wifi issue is more prevelent. i wasn't sure if he was on stock os or custom os so i asked about it. then i would have given him the instructions on turning off the the wifi, killing the downloads, and restarting the phone. like you told him to in the second post cause that seem to work better than the gtalk method.

I stated clearly on my first post I am on Fresh 1.0 ROM, so everyone would know I was on a custom ROM.

sorry. i did not read your post clearly thought when you said fresh you ment fresh install. haven't really been keeping up with the hero roms to much and thier names still waiting for my eris to get it's turn at root. when i saw your post it just reminded me of how my rooted G1 would not start downloads over wifi. so i asked rooted or not just to be on the safe side.
the thing that got me a little heated was when he said "not to call you out" then he goes into a trist about how wifi seems to be the better fix.
by the way did you get your problem fixxed?

(Ok,fair enough it can be confusing when i wrote fresh; no worries).
About my problem: Not at all man, I tried every single one of the fixes and no luck. I am thinking about going back to stock and reflashing the custom ROM. I'll report back if/when/how it gets fixed
Nevermind Disregard

I ended up factory resetting and now everything downloads normally
So... apps were downloading perfect from market UNTIL I restored a nandroid backup. Afterwards, Apps hang again. I mean exactly after restoring, went to the market and the problem is there again. Can the problem be tied to restoring backups? Or just coincidence?
Update:
Got the downloads working after clearing the cache of every single google application on the phone as well as IM.
After this, started downloading the app and it still hung. Opened gtalk and exactly as it signed in it started downloading fine.
I tried the afore mentioned fixes and had no luck, so for anyone who has this issue and has not been able to resolve it, this is another workaround.
Just FYI to anyone still with problems, I had problems again today EXACTLY after restoring a backup again.
This post I quoted by Zippy-man did the trick today Great Help..

Hello, I am having an issue with my droid 2. I have rooted it following all the instructions here. Since this phone is my GF's she has loaded all sorts of stuff on there, and now the phone is running slow, and burning through battery. We decided to do a factory reset on the unit.
after setting up her google account, all her old applications start flooding back in. how can i stop this? we want to have the phone with a clean slate.
we have tried deleting all the apps on the phone. rebooting, waiting then wiping as well. all these same apps come flooding in.
Any help will be appreciated.
Go through darkonion's sbf tutorial that will start you off from scratch.
will that remove root?, im not sure that would fix it tho, ive read around, and it appears like google has some sort of application backup and restore option. somehow that was turned on. and im not sure how to turn it off.
It will remove root but you can easily get root back with darkonion's one click root. Look in Settings>Privacy>uncheck Back up my data>uncheck Automatic restore and try a factory data reset.

one-click root
Yeah its a feature in froyo that its restoring all your apps in the my downloads folder of the market. If you have done a full wipe just open the my downloads folder and begin to uninstall apps, that should also break their chain to come back if you wipe again

Ive tried that, i guess ill have to keep battling it. the odd thing is my incredible does not even have this feature... maybe its the rom im using (Virtuous) but i dont see anything that even remotely looks like this.
the last thing we did was uninstall all the apps and wipe again, and they all came back. Maybe if i do it from the market, like you suggested. ive already disabled the backup and sync. i wish there was a more intuitive interface for this.
If it's not too much of a hassle just sbf the phone and make a new google account.

So i figured out a solution. I wiped her phone. and skipped adding a google account.
I then went to settings privacy, and i saw that backup my data was unchecked, but automatic restore was both greyed out, and checked.
i quickly enabled backup my data, then unchecked automatic restore, and backup my data (making it so everything was unchecked.)
I added her google account, and none of her apps came back. This was a pain to figure out, but not that bad of a work around now that i found it.
hopefully this helps someone who is having the same issue.
I have had this Samsung Vibrant for a couple months. I have a good number of apps and did the one click lag fix sometime ago. Recently, I had experienced a bunch of force closes and overall bugginess. My Pure Calendar widget stopped loading. I emailed the developer. He had me send him the change log and responded to me that my phone had a bunch of problems.
He said that I should have wiped the phone before the lag fix. And that he can't help me until i wipe it.
Here's where I need help. . .How do wipe the phone but back it up in a way where I can get all of my apps and settings back?
Can you give me a step-by-step in "newbie language"?
After I wipe it, i will use the lag-fix and then restore the settings and apps, if that's the way I should do it (once again, what do you think?).
Sorry if I broke any forum rules or ettiquite. If I did, it was unintentional. I just need the help. Thanks in advance!
Generally the first step is to uninstall the lag fix. That may actually fix your problem since the earlier lag fixes were prone to degradation over time. I don't know which lag fix you installed and uninstalling it will take some research on your part.
After uninstalling the lag fix I would try flashing one of the newer roms that fix a lot of bugs and do not need a lagfix. Again, that will take some research on your part. Check out the bible in the development section.
Thanks for the reply, snowdogging.
I did uninstall it (v1). There is an option on the app that I used.
All I want to do is back-up, wipe, get back to original condition, and then restore my apps and settings.
It is not that hard to do with android but you can expect to lose some information. What I usually do is do a Titanium Backup of all my user applications. I then use SMS Backup+ to dump all of my text messages to Gmail. I am rooted so I use SU Explorer to make sure that all of my pictures and other important data is moved to my external SD card.
And then cross my fingers and use Odin to flash the latest rom that I think is worthwhile.
After a successful flash I do all of the first paragraph in reverse to restore my stuff. It is time consuming. As an example, the first time while learning took about 5 hours, while now I can probably do it in one.
Just make sure you can get into download mode while at the powered off green battery indicator BEFORE using ODIN and you should be OK to experiment. I have crashed ODIN and a bunch of other stupid stuff and am still on my original vibrant.
So hopefully this thread is in the right section.. Anyway..
So I have a T Mobile Galaxy S4 M919 that I have tried rooting and which was successful but then came a problem.
At first Google play store was perfectly fine and such, after rooting my phone it was still working fine. I downloaded Freedom.apk and after that few minutes later my app store just doesn't connect anymore. I removed Freedom.apk to see if that would work. No it didn't so I tried change the password of my gmail account and re-logging again I can't connect. So I did some research on google and found a couple threads on this forum about the issue which lead to many solutions. I tried them all even clearing cache, data, force stop, enable/disable, re-flashing.
Not to mention that I also tried downloading total commander? To edit the Hosts file anyway, I got it to edit the file but I could not save it. It would constantly crash every time I clicked save. Last resort I did was factory reset, no worries I backed up all my contacts, messages and such...
That also did not work so being that it was a clean fresh start I decided to re-flash again. At first I was using the cf auto root then I tried another one after.
There is nothing wrong with my internet nor the service provider that I am with (t mobile).
I literally tried everything and now i'm about to give up. If anyone could help me out without suggesting the same steps that I have done I would really appreciate it.
Thanks for taking time to read this!
Bump... Does anyone know a solution to this? Please help :3
I got a message this morning about a system update on my YT3-X50F
(YT3-X50F_S000022_160606_ROW_TO_YT3-X50F_S000023_161201_ROW) -
Downloaded and the install failed.
I googled and it seems this is happening to others. however the "Resolution" was to download from some Russian site
(https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Androi...x50f-dec-2016-update-fail/td-p/3523775/page/3)
I'm not even clear on what the resolution steps are.
I'm asking here because I've used XDA as my go to forums for years (my third tablet). You guys are always helpful and able to explain stuff anyone can understand.
I had rooted my tablet, but went ahead and unrooted. I also pulled the "nuclear" option and factory reset. I was already on the verge of needing to do so anyhow since it was having a bunch of annoying freezing and rebooting issues. Its in the process of reinstalling all my apps now
