Hi forum!
I have read the post that has been made micke99, and i have seen that no one answered positive about this question.
SO, is there a way to unlock a HTC Tattoo phone so it can work with some other sim cards (on different GSM networks - different GSM providers), without paying a dude from service to do it. How smarter can he be than we are.
If anyone have a good will, please respond to this topic, i am assured that it will save the money to every man on the world.

root your phone, install custom ROM and that's it! ...enjoy
Same problem. Where i can found a custom rom with french language please. And the procedure for unlock for any network is just by flash a custom rom?
As said, all you have to do is flash a custom rom on your phone.
I did that, MULTIPLE TIMES, but no success. Sim Lock window is present every time i insert the sim card
you see a window where you need to insert a code generated with the IMEI?
and i bought an unlock code and that was it.
I did that also. But when i insert the key, it responds with "Network unlocking unsuccessful". Could be that it is the wrong key?

Hello all. I got a TMobile Wing from US (I'm from South America), but it's SIM Unlocked.
Anyone knows where can I get a "unlock code key generator" where I can input my IMEI and it gives me my SIM Unlock Code!???
I'm not willing to pay U$ 35!!!!!!!!!, because the phone already cost me a fortune here.
After reading the WIKI, I saw that at this point there's no way (except paying to some obscure website) to unlock the wing.
My points are:
1) How hard can It be to unlock it, because:
1) the website can do that, and I'm pretty sure they're not using the official way.
2) I only need SIM unlock. When I use my SIM card, it asks for an unlock code. I'm assuming that the unlock code is a function of my IMEI number.
If there are code generators for other HTC models, how different the algorithm can be? And, of course, the guys from that website most probably have broke it.
3) I used to crack 68k code long time ago on my Commodore Amiga. Is there any emulator or something? A debugger like softice? Who's working on the unlock code generator? Can I help?
I've been going thru the herald forums for months now, and I have yet to hear of anyone being able to bypass SIM lock on the herald ...
I'm sure if you could figure out how to unlock, it would be much appreciated by the whole community.
i second that.... hope you find a way man... because ive been itching to get my wing working... 35 dollars for a code? that would be too much... some say they can get it from t-mobile for free, you just have to contact them... the problem with our situation (yes i bought mine from ebay also), we do not have a contract with them. i tried it already and they were not willing to help unless i am the subscriber myself asking for the unlocking. i tried contacting the person i bought my phone from but i got no answer.

I was Olipro's tester for his hard-spl, and after it was done, my O2 terra was sim unlocked.
I have no idea how it happened, though
Hello guys,
Does anyone know if the turbo sim will bypass the sim lock on the htc tattoo?
if you have it try it and tell us, but if you don't i would recommend you to unlock it via imei preferable.
Flashing Won't remove CID lock
Hi
I have tried several methods on here to change from my UK Orange branded Tattoo.
I purchased an unlock code, but this was just based on the IMEI from HTC & didn't allow me to use any other sim.
Orange have really butchered the software to stop you using a different network.
I have managed to remove the Orange branding & got back the standard HTC apps.
However the Orange CID (customer ID) still remains & prevents any other sim being used. Even with the HTC software the APN is still greyed out.
Eventually I bought an I-sim2008, a few websites have them but I chose ebay.
With this underneath my sim it bypasses the CID check & allows me to use a different sim card.
Many people have claimed to use the phone with a different sim, but this is the only method I have found to work, I have spent about a week non-stop flashing, I now believe the only way to remove the CID would be on a rooted device with a custom ROM image.
Hope this helps a bit?
Up to now there is no development on the root or rom side, either not many people have the Tattoo or they dont' think it's worth while doing.....
Lets keep our fingers crossed.....

Codes for Orange UK have been a problem. The codes are correct but you need to flash the right rom.
The Italian locked Tattoo's don't have any problem with regard to unlocking.

Thanks for the heads up dude. Have you tried to enter the code after flashing the rom?still no good?Well, Ive seen a good place on the web where I can get a I-smartsim 2008 and its much cheaper than buying the code.

So ferraripassion you assure me that if I flash the ROM, the code will work?
Ive been in touch with htccode and their prices are really good (compared to others on the web) but problem is that they do not have a money back policy in case the code doesnt work. From the various reviews Ive read here and there, I dnt think I should invest in something that might not work when I have the I-smartsim.
On the other hand there is unlock-now, their prices are a bit higher but they assure me a money back in case that their code does not work on my mobile. I think Ill give it a shot. I have nothing to lose, if it works Ill be very happy if it doesnt ill have my money back
Well, thank for your comments guys. Have a merry christmas 2009 and a happy new year 2010

What would the correct ROM be for one on Orange UK?
I have used the RUU Click HTC WWE 1.67.405.6 WWE release signed NoDriver.rar from their website & am still having problems getting any other sim card to work.
As mentioned in my last post, I have been trying for about a week to get it working.
@yash08: I have this option, but when I tried to use it I got an error about files missing of the mem card?
@jusumgeezer: Am no expert, really and I might be completely wrong on this, but from what ive understood is that tattoo's not from orange uk dont have this <simlock> option, and orange uk does. Might this be why we cant use an imei generated code? Must we unlock this some other way?
By the way, I flashed and bought the code and it does not work neither!
Same as me then, got rid of the orange branded rubbish & got all the HTC stuff back, but still need the i-sim2008 to use another sim card. Otherwise it just gets stuck on the "unlocking Sim Card" screen or the APN is greyed out.
Well on my side I am very satisfied with unlock-now.com service. As soon as I supplied a video proving that the code didnt work, I got a refund without any hassle. Was like a knife in butter . They are very professional, I recommend their service to anyone.
Now I am just waiting for the I-SmartSim 2008 to be delivered. If this can be of any help to anyone, I bought it from here: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12167.
Hey guys are there any developments on unlocking Tattoo from Orange UK, it's been more than a week that i got the phone and i still can't use it, it's driving me crazy.
Nobody knows what should flash ROM code to take HTC Tattoo Orange UK?
The only solution is as per the link above, that is how I got my Orange phone to work. It is the only known solution to date even though it is just a workaround and far cheaper than an unlock code.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5229016&postcount=11
Code I have already paid. And the phone for sale, it will be difficult to explain why the client needs turbosim.
Hello
Could You tell me please which ROM should i use to unlock this handset? I've got the code...
I've tried:
r2-mcr-tattoo-withadditions-signed.zip
Says "network unlock success" but still not working
and this one:
fyodor-TattooROM_v0.5.3.1.zip
Says "network unlock success" but after this freezed on "Unlocking SIM card" for around 20 mins and I'm still waiting...
Any advices?
Thank You
hi guys,
i just want to know if the i-smartsim is the only thing needed to unlock the device or will i have to buy an unlock code as well?
If i choose this phone, it will be locked on Orange Fr network.
Thanks for your help.
Well the ismartsim is no more needed. If you get the last ROM update from Orange, you will be able to remove the simlock with a imei based code.
And to answer your question, no you dont need to buy a code if you use the ismartsim but as I said you can unblock your phone with the code now.
Ok, thank you.
I've order both the phone and the ismartsim (just in case )
Dear all,
I was faced by an unexpected problem and I will try to relate this to you in this thread. I will also update this thread if i find a solution on how to resolve this issue so maybe I can avoid some head-scratching out there......
- I got an HD2 on T mobile UK was very happy to see it safe and sound home
- I didn't have a sim card in it ....
- booted it ......
- checked out the IMEI number
- Sent it to an IMEI unlock service from Ebay (one of the best)
- The day after, I received an email from the unlock service and guess what?
- NO unlock code! It's unavailable!
- Reason given ..... can't unlock because phone's IMEI is too new so we
so they don't have it in their database
- Didn't discourage myself and tried at least 5 different ones INCLUDING some really prominent sites out there (if you p.m. me will send you the address but I don't want to sound like I am doing some advert cos I am not...)
- 7 unlock services later...... I gave up..... The code is literally unknown and no sim unlock code seems to exist....
- T-Mobile simple told me that I need a 3 month contract to get the unlock code from them .... but the problem is I am outside the UK so that is not an option. Also 3 months not using this HD2 will simply make me go crazy.....
- Tried also HTC, quick reply (very quick indeed). To cut the long story shor I was told that their "universal unlock code" for all worldwide models WON't work on T mobile UK because the codes are changed by this carrier (grrrrrrrr... why?)
So I have to give up using an IMEI type of unlock. THERE MUST be some alternative way of doing it .....
Anyone could guide me on this please? Do I have to use HSPL2 to get rid of the sim lock (and the warranty?)
Thanks to all of you who contribute to this great community a better place......
Regards
Alcatraz
sorry to hear that mate
tmobile uk here aswell
how comes you need it unlocked? if its just to flash ROMs then HSPL2 can do the job for you and it won't invalidate your warranty as the new version provided two options
for example 1.42HSPL (unlocked) and 1.42SPL (original)
so you can change backwards and forwards in case you ever need to use your warranty.
if however you want it so that you can use it with a different operator maybe someone else here can help you

I had to wait a couple of weeks before buying the code as T-Mobile hadn't released the database (something like that).

I think I did not make myself clear. The mobile is LOCKED on T mobile UK. But I am overseas and there is no T Mobile over here.... so I need it SIM UNLOCKED (am I right? )
Secondly I am not quite sure that if I use HSPL2 I would REMOVE the Sim lock (am I correct again?)

Correct, HSPL has nothing to do with unlocking the phone. It will allow you to flash another ROM with another CID.
Doing so will not remove your sim lock, what you need to do is get an unlock code (which you have been trying to do)
Quite a few of the noobs seem to think that CID lock and SIM lock are the same thing!

I never implied that ...... I KNOW that they are different .... I was being sarcastic in my reply....
The thing I am not sure about is the CID locks. I know that SIM locks lock you onto a particular carrier... But am not too sure about CID locks. What I was led to understand from the various readings which I bumped into is that a CID lock restricts you onto some particular region. So for example people in Egypt encounter regional-related issues due to CID locks (for e.g GPS not working etc...)

HTC's reply... RE generic unlock codes (factory ones)
Dear all
The fellow people at HTC told me the following RE "generic factory unlock codes......". They basically "DON'T exist" according to HTC Uk. They claim that when the network operator gets hold of the phones, they put in there own sim lock encryption... They do some other disastrous things as well .....such as mucking up the OS and removing apps.....
Dear Sir,
Thank you for contacting us. In regards to Unlocking, I can help you with that. Unfortunately HTC does not have unlocking codes as we supply to different networks, the devices we supply are customised by the network providers accordingly. Hence only the network provider can give you an unlocking code. Thank you for contacting HTC. Best regards, Herald B HTC

Hello,
I am a recently new user to the forum, so first of all Congatulations for the work done here.
I have a little problem, and dont know if this is the right place for someone to help me.
I live in Portugal and I have bought an HD2 trough a cell operator called TMN, I have already made an HardSPL an installed an Android NAND OS.
I tought that trough the HardSPL my HD2 will be unlocked, but it wasnt!!!
When I put a Vodafone card, after putting the sim password it asks me for another code and I dont know what it is.
Can anybody help me?
Best Regards from Portugal,
MPaixao
What you need to do is SIM unlock your phone. You could either try the operator who sold you the phone (it may cost you, but if you don't ask then you will never know if they do it for free) or have a search around this forum for unlocking and find recommendation on folks/sites who will unlock it for you (this will definitely cost you).
Hello,
Thank you for your answer. I have already been talking to the operator, I wont tell here how much he asked to unlock my phone, so that you wont keep the wrong idea of Portugal. But I told him to.......whatever!
I have already searched through this forum and through the web and all I could find were international sites that charge a symbolic fee to provide the code. Most of what Ive read say that these are not thrustable.
I dont care about paying a symbolic fee to a thrustworthy person.
Do you know somebody.
Have an HD2 and not beeing able to use it its kind of bad...
Best Regards from Portugal,
MPaixao
I know that there are lots of similar topics here, but as far as I searched no one could solve my problem.
I have a HTC HD mini registered for Inidia but I wanna install a GCC (Arabic) Rom on it.
I already have tested "DFT_SSPL_MINI" with official and shipped Roms and also the method "Update from SD memory card" but after each one I ended up with the Error:294 invalid vendor ID.
Does anybody know the solution? I saw some guys with similar problem had successfully changed their Roms by "DFT_SSPL_MINI" but I don't know what is wrong with my phone.
Still no reply?
is your phone carrier locked?( I guess so...)
How can I find that? My phone carrier is MTN
Does it really a matter of phone carrier? I thought it should be due to a software issue of my phone.
If you bought the phone from a GSM provider and you enagaged in a monthly subscription that means your phone is carrier locked and you can update the ROM only from their site!
Yes,it does matter since the phones will have CID(Carrier ID) locked!
Example:
"CID: Carrier Id - commonly used in the form `CID-Unlocking`. If you purchase your phone (example) from Qtek (Qtek is the 'carrier'), your phone will only accept Qtek ROMs (the carrier's ROMs). If you want to flash ROMs from other carrier, you'll need to CID-unlock your phone, so that your phone will accept other ROMs. Note: In general, the phrase 'unlock your phone' usually refers to SIM-unlock, not CID unlock."
Thank you for the information
But how to CID unlock? as I said in my above post I've already used the DFT_SSPL but with no result and getting the same error. Some guys say that the sspl ignores CID check and thus you can flash a custom rom on your phone but for me it didn't have any benefits.
Do you have any other ideas for me?
then u better ask who says that,i don't buy phones from carriers so i don't know much
you know guys, in where i live, when you decide to buy a phone you should only go to a shopping center and choose something looking good and affordable and nobody cares about the carriers, cause there is no carrier in there, and after buying you'll be encountered it is merely a garbage. It's confusing for me, I paid a lot of money for a phone and there is no way to change the software, why? It's only a software, I have the hardware in my hand. why is it such a complicated problem for hackers who hack everything?

you know guys, in where i live, when you decide to buy a phone you should only go to a shopping center and choose something looking good and affordable and nobody cares about the carriers, cause there is no carrier in there, and after buying you'll be encountered it is merely a garbage. It's confusing for me, I paid a lot of money for a phone and there is no way to change the software, why? well..if you or nobody from your country doesn't care about the carriers then live with the consequences
Windows Mobile is an OS,not a software and no,it is not complicated for hackers or developers to unlock this, they are just not interested in this phone.
there are tools which unlocks CID,try www.google.com or xda search function for further references.

only solution is to make gold card and install completely rom (including radio), but to do an gold card you must to buy revskills software -> http://revskills.de
With dft sspl you are not able to install radio becouse that feature is disabled for possibly device brick but with gold card you are abble installing everything!
Curently I testing an s-off and super cid for htc hd2 and I have success in super ciding hd2 but some problems in s-offing (it go to s-off but I am lost in nand chip becouse flashing is not possible after s-off) but I think photon and hd2 have something similar about that feature and if I done it for hd2 I will try to explain how to do it for photon... I think I will done it after we have working android nand or maybe if you found jtag pins for photon (I will try to do it by jtag)
Thanks Munjeni, for your helpful answer. I hope you to be succeed. If you came up with any results please keep me informed.
I'll try some Gold Carding...

Can we find out, whether the device we've CID unlocked or not before we change the ROM?
