Hi finally rooted my phone only to discover that the cyanogen mods dont support 4g!!! I use 4g all the time so this is serious to me.
Is there another rom that can give me my 4g back?
Or should I just restore my Sense ui?
The problem with that latter is that my sense ui was buggy, making my phone slow and the keyboards almost useless.
Is there an alternative Sense UI rom that might perform better?
Thanks
I use mikefroyo

an amazing rom, very very fast.
Try this CM rom. It has 4G but its still in beta: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=902051
mikions are as bad as mynions, surprised no mynjas have chimed in
Any Sense ROM will have 4G unless the ROM developer is a complete failure. Right now for non-Sense the only option I'm aware of is the CM6-WiMax mod posted above. It looks like if things keep developing as fast as they have been there's a strong chance CM7 will have it built in when the final release hits.
i hope you backed up your rsa keys

If someone asks for recommendations on what rom to use, why are people "bad" for suggesting the rom they prefer, themselves? I have nothing against any rom, but none I have used runs as well as mikfroyo. Since the 3.70 update, I have used: vaelpak, fresh, myn's, one of the evoKings roms, cm6.1.2, cm wimax alpha, a few of the GB roms, and mikfroyo. Of all of these, none ran as smoothly as mikfroyo. My hwv is 0004, my original swv was 3.29, and I have the .97 hboot.
My Warm TwoPointTwo RLS5 and MikFroyo 4.4 are the heavy favorites in these forums (hence that comment about Mikians and Mynjas). I use both, back and forth, they both have their ups and downs. Myn's is prettier, Mik's is faster. Both have all the function that stock has (4g, hdmi, etc).
As a previous poster said, all Sense roms will have it, but Mik and Myn have the 2 most popular ones.

Hey guys and gals,
So I just rooted my EVO last week with the Beta unrevoked with success. I flash my first ROM that day(Drew's GB 15a ROM). I really like it but it really isn't something that I could use everyday yet, of course.
That being said, can anyone recommend a ROM that is just as easy to flash without haveing to flash anything else over it and with everything working? I hope I am making sence. Maybe a Froyo ROM without sence or even with sence. Anything custom that people really like. I am just getting into flashing ROM's so, I am trying to keep it simple at first.... The EVO is my first android phone. My hardware build is 0003 if that helps. I got it on release day.
Thanks Everyone!

Thanks for the replies guys! Do you have any links for the ones you like? When I do a search here I get tons of threads!
cyanogen's current stable doesn't have 4g FYI. i just got my evo today & flashed the fresh rom (used to use his hero roms). i dig it.
If you like sense Fresh is the way to go, calkulins ROM always been my favorite. Just head over to the development thread you see them, download, nandroid backup, wipe, flash.
I've had my evo for about a month and I flash a new rom every week a to try them all out I'm currently on my fourth rom and I think a nice noob rom would be the Sprint Lovers rom its not too different from stock

this ... with the specs of the e3D the phone would blaze .
but i do like my sense and sense 3.0 is crazy
As soon as CM7 hits the 3d, I'm all over it.
I like Sense a lot. I have tried a couple other roms and different launchers, but end up going back to sense. I ran my evo stock for about 6+ months before rooting. Prob won't wait as long on the 3D but def sticking with sense.
Ill rock sense for awhile. I like aosp and especially cm7, but I am currently using calks evio2 and everything just works. That's the best thing about stock or stock baser roms - everything seems to just work. I like that.
Tapa tapa tapa
Until sense uses better Bluetooth drivers that allow my audio to sound good to my car, sense isn't even an option. Cyanogen uses the default Google drivers which sound flawless.

Fans of CM and AOSP will have to port LG ROM or something like that to have the 3d options...
I flashed to AOSP for a brief period of time, but Myn's sense rom made me stop flashing other roms. I love HTC Sense and sense 3.0 will be amazing; there's nothing like the design and functionalities that come with it.
I am probably going to keep it stock for a long time. I have tried all the roms for the Evo and I always end up going back to stock. It seems like all the roms eventually start to slow down.

I agree with this , except with Myns I used Calkins Remove sence , installed ADW Ex , Flashed a GB appearence zip (added a few mods myself) and made kind of a sensless GB Myn's rom . Smooth and very battery friendly . I tried the AOSP's out there but kept getting plagued with high OS usage after phone calls . Tried all the fixes but nothign ever corrected it . So Myn's RLS5 is where I will stay .........for now LOL
Stock for me. Atleast for a while. Isn't Bluetooth supposed to be better?

Hey xda,
I just got a HTC G2, straight of ebay. I'll be following the tutorials posted to perma-root, CID unlock and S-off (not using visionary).
My only question and concern is, just because I am new to this phone, apart from CM being at the top, what other roms are stable? fast? and reliable? (decent battery life, not too many fc's etc)
I'm very much interested in something with HTC Sense, but meh, am willing to compromise if its too buggy. I've been reading here and there that there are tons of problems with scaling etc when phones switches from portrait/landscape etc.
Any suggestions will be great! Thank you for reading this far!!
Sorry, but you're going to have to do what everyone else does. Try them out and decide for yourself.
Hello and welcome!
My suggestions:
If you want sense, look up Virtuous 1.0.2 for froyo. If you want sense 3.0, look up Virtuous Fusion 1.0.0.
If you want stock android, look up Virtuous G-lite 1.0.2.
All of the above ROMs are by the same dev, are very stable and I have used all of the above. Currently using G-lite because as much as I love sense, it does take alot of memory.
As posted before, try the ROMs for about a week each and see how you like them. It's all personal preference.

I couldn't agree more; as far as ROMs go, rmk's are the most stable. CyanogenMod7 is actually extremely buggy still on the G2 (at least, when I used it a few weeks ago). While CM7 is probably the fastest ROM I've used, there are lots of little things that don't work correctly, and newer builds sometimes will break things that worked on older builds. I'm currently running G-Lite and I'm extremely satisfied.

Cm6.1.1 is nice and stable with decent battery life. It isn't as aesthetically pleasing as the myriad gingerbread releases but it gets the job done and can be tweaked to appear incredibly 'speedy' by using spare parts from the app market and Launcher Pro.
Ill throw my vote in there for Pyrorom. Its fast and is based off of CM7 if I remember correctly. I had tried a few, but as soon as I booted Pyro, I knew it was the one.
Good luck anyways.

fwiw I have yet to find another ROM as stable as GingerVillain 1.5 with the 4.02.17 radio. Everything works perfect and I can get 18 hours battery life.
Tried Glite 1.02, super smooth, great ROM with the 4.30 radio BUT could not get the bluetooth to pair. Plus a few minor quirks with the camera flash not working. This is mostly due to the hw differences between the G2 and desire Z. I have a bell Can Desire Z
if u don't want sense...
If you have a G2, go for Glite 1.02 otherwise GV 1.5 is stable and can't be beat ..yet imo

Hey everyone, I've been on Synergy RC1 for a few months now. I think it's great save for some lagging, space issues, and a few connectivity bugs. I've been looking at MikG, Mik3D, Synergy RLS, and CM7. I'm looking mainly for speed, battery life, no crazy default themes (all red/blue text, etc.), and basically everything working (4G, wifi, etc). Possible with any of these or another one I have forgotten?

Why not try synergy RLS1. Synergy is my favorite
Synergy RLS1 should have been your choice months ago. It fixed all you said, laggy, and some bugs that were in RC1 and 2. Duh!!
If you want to go ASOP, CM7 is ok. I dont like ASOP, what is the point of having a cutting edge phone like an EVO if you dont run all the bells and whistles of Sense? Kind of counter productive in my view. Sense is what makes an EVO an EVO!!
Good luck. I also run MikG and it is nothing more than Synergy anyway. Has a few more selections on the pull down bar, but other than that, I can see no difference.

And why! Don't just drop a ROM name. Mention which are your favorite features and which other ROMs you might have tried. Maybe this thread will stop the questions "what's the best ROM". Basically it was always asking "what ROM are you using" Because those were the results.
So far legendary has been the best for me! I have tried out thunderhawk (laggy for me) mostly stock (too stock for me)... well let's just say I have tried them all and I always end up back to legendary... it has the perfect balance of themeing, stability, and performance IMO!

Roms used
So far I have used Marcusants ASC roms 5.1 - His V.2 was a fan of the speed, but just not stable. And I'm not a fan of V.2 with the red color theme. I have also Tried MIUI 1.12.23 which worked good, but i like having the app drawer which this did not. I am currently running CleanGB 1.03 with no issues. It is a stable rom, running 4g without issues and installed gtalk w/video. Next on the list is the new CM7 version which seems to have gotten Wifi stable as well as 4g working.
I have to test out all the roms and supply to all the friends/family that have the epic so they dont end up calling me for every error they get

CleanGB MTD is a great ROM. No problems, good battery life. Love it
