Bug: when 4G signal disappeared, battery died. - EVO 4G General

Since the last upgrade, I got a new status icon indicating 4G antenna on, Scanning, etc
I have my EVO on 4G all the time. I have a 4G signal at home in NYC. I have had the signal for months already. The signal disappeared sometime overnight.
I also noticed this morning the battery was 20%. Strange. I always find if 100%, full in the morning.
the bug is, when the 4G signal went off, the 4G status icon was in "Scanning". That for sure takes a whole lot of energy and battery. I was thinking my cable was damaged as it happened already once. Then, I checked my USB port.
Finally it came to my mind that it must be that stupid 4G signal that went on vacation, and my cell phone was wasting more battery than normal when scanning for it:
".....Scanning, Connecting to Sprint, Scanning, Connecting to Sprint, Scanning, Connecting to Sprint, Scanning, Connecting to Sprint, Scanning, Connecting to Sprint, Scanning, Connecting to Sprint...."
Imagine this endless loop for hours and hours.
It will never connect to Sprint. Not in 4G. It should be implemented in a way that EVO gives up trying to connect to 4G and breaks this loop!
Now that I disabled the 4G, the battery is finally charging. Mystery solved.
This happened only after the upgrade. After they installed that 4G scanning antenna option thing.
NOW, Sprint: WHY? Where is my 4G signal at home? I'm paying 10$+taxes extra for it! Please, return my signal. Please don't steal my money! and my battery!
thanks.

4g bug?

at home and work i know i have 4g network available but sometimes it is stucked on scanning and never grabs 4g and stays on 3g UNTIL i uncheck the 4g option and check it again.
mine got stuck once when i tried to turn it on during a phone call. scanning is not a bug.. it will keep on scanning until it finds a signal.
4g/3g
Am I lucky or unlucky? I power my phone on it starts up in 3g once the phone is loaded i am on 4g all the time I never have seen the 3g in the task bar. However this morning i had no network coverage and the phone didn't try to find 3g.

Wifi's effect on Battery life.

So, is it harder on my battery to be connected to wifi or not? TIA
No offense, but you start question threads on a development forum that are easily answered with google. A thread should only be started when all resources have been exhausted and the answer can't be found elsewhere.
Wifi effect on Battery life with android
good day.
No, it's not. 3G uses more battery, especially when the signal is fluctuating all over the place.
I'm actually a perfect candidate for this, as in my apt, 3G signal is rather weak. I'm gonna leave the wifi on and see what happens.
I've been getting GREAT battery life with stock Voodoo and no wifi at all, just GPS turned off except when Im using it, and now I'm gonna try with wifi on at all times at home, and at work, and see what happens.
I'll report back tomorrow after work.
I can verify that having wifi on in low 3g areas helps tremedously. At work I get 1 bar and it fluctuates between 1x and 3g so I have wifi enabled all the time. After being in the office a majority of the day for about 8 hours I'm down to about 75% when I leave. If I leave wifi disabled and rely on 3g I'll leave with about 49-55%. It's the same at home except it is 1 bar of 3g so battery drain isn't that bad. I use a program called y5 that enables and disables wifi according to location. It uses Cell towers instead of GPS so not too bad of a strain on battery. YMMV

I'll go further than that. Even with a strong 3G signal at work having Wifi on uses less battery then 3G only on my stock (waiting for the right Froyo) Fascinate. With my crappy 3G signal at home there is no question like previously stated.

4G network issue or my Epic?

In a spot where I get very strong signal, today it will connect but won't actually work. Toggling 4G mode and rebooting have no effect. 3G works normally. Anyone else having this issue? Wish I could test it in another 4G area to narrow it down to the local tower.
Happens to me intermittently. I wondered if it was maybe just maintenance on a tower but that would not account for it showing that 4g was connected, plus my buddy was connected on his Evo at the same time, getting pretty good speeds. Its very curious.

Well, at least I know now it wasn't my phone. 4G is back, although weaker than before. 100% uptime doesn't exist in this world, yet.

Data 4g 3g keeps dropping connection.

When I'm on 3g cdma only mode, I can keep a data connection. When I switch to cdma/lte mode, it sometimes takes a while to finally get 4g data. I'll have plenty of signal and in different parts of my County, it acts the same. This started last night. I did a ##72786# and it didn't help. I tried manually updating prl and profile. It didn't help. Today I flashed mf9 full in Odin then did full factory reset and wipe in accounts. Still flaky connection. Tried updating prl and profile and 72786 and still don't have a steady connection. As I type this there isn't any data. The 4g will flash then 3g then no data in under a second. Now 4g just came back but no telling for how long.
Its probably because they are launching 4g in your area and its very spotting. That's why your phone drops signal. Because its trying to switch from 3G to 4G. I would say to stay on just 3G.

Lte is already in my area. It seems to be stable now. Long story short, I changed mode into cdma evdo. Updated profile. Changed back to cdma evdo lte. shut down phone and removed battery. Held power button down for av minute straight. Put battery back in and powered on. It seemed a little more stable but not rock solid. Drove home and 4g is staying on now. Probably a hiccup with the phone last night. I'll run it for 24 hours to see if it's stable again.

928i 4G not working, 3G intermittent and dropping calls - recently started occuring

this phone has started playing up, 4G wont connect at all and 3G is constantly changing between H and H+. Phone calls dropping and battery draining fast.
Have tried factory reset
flashing older Samsung firmware
Nothing is making a difference. Tried my SIM in another phone and it instantly connects to 4g.
This only started about two weeks ago.
Any one else have this issue? i'm in the uk on the 3 network.
UPDATE: it appears the 4G radio is faulty - setting it to 3g only solves the issues.
UPDATE : I'm so gutted that this phone 4g/3G is ****. Love the phone but loads of people and reviews suggesting 4g/3G issues with this phone and high number of call drops. I did a test today, I put my sim in an iPhone 6 and instantly connected to 4g and speed test was through the roof peaking at 38mb. Put the sim back into the s6 edge plus and only connects to 3G. But unable to browse the Internet. This confirms my fears that the 4g chipset/antenna are ****. In this phone. Which is a real shame as the phone is my favorite ever. Going to get an iPhone now. Connectivity is the most important thing and I can't be dealing with this crap from such an expensive phone. Shame on you Samsung.

I have the exact trouble as yours whichs about constantly changing between the H and H+. (4G is not matter, its new around here). When it turns on H, doesnt connect any site and application which need data connection. But H+ is doing normal. I bought an unlimited data package is provided for up limit 7.2Mbps. Dug something and saw that HSDPA(H) technology's up limit is 7.2 for our carrier. Then bought limited turbo data package(shows as up limit 43Mbps) but still changing H and H+ Thats not such for current device. It was in such an annoying situation since H+ available to connect. Tried to force use H+ but no luck. Sorry for long article and bad grammar. Just saying. Thanks.

Been doing a lot of research and it appears to me that this phone is crap at holding 4g/3G signals. I think this is a hardware/design fault. Most people won't release this until they test this on an iPhone in the same location and see the huge difference. Can't believe Samsung would release a huge pile of crap.
