[Q] hd2 android SMS / contact number problem - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hello all,
I recently bought an HD2 again (after a rubbish galaxy S) and this time I installed android. (DFT stock desire rom)
everything works great, except for the following.
When I enter e number in contact in format 0475123456 or +32475123456 (belgian formats) and I call the number there is no problem.
but when I enter the SMS menu, and I press the call button he displays the number 32475123456, so not starting with 0 and not with +32 as it should be.
Now sometimes these SMS messages do not arrive at its destination. And when I call from out the SMS menu, I end up at a different location then the number I wanted to reach. Very strange, but mostly it is a fixed line number, and not a mobile number...
I think the 32475123456 number can be the problem that sometimes SMS messages do not arrive...
Can somebody think of anything this can be?
thanks for your answer!
grtz

I have the same problem. Pity that no one can help. If you managed to solve it, please let us know how

You can try 0032 instead of +32 for all your contacts ..

it doesn't help, I use operator 'Orange' in Poland, still can't sent SMS otherwise than by entering the number manually

Will the problem be solved when I flash another android rom maybe?

Yes it will... There is also a script that can solve I though(search something like "xda android dialer fix script" on google), but you might want to try a different rom as the battery drainage of this rom is pretty bad(smoothness is still unbeated though).
Hint go for gingerbread...

thanks man, now at least I know there s a fix, when I install another rom. I was already thinking of going to gingerbread. I like the nexus HD2 one, is that a good one?

For what I´ve read the Nexus rom should be good, I use the hyperdroid rom (v11) and it works very good(after adjusting the DPI)

bad dialer

I'm wondering why my dialer digits respond as bad as the ones on older htc phones.
htc diamond's dialer responds almost as quick as the iphone's one so im asking if this is just in my case or if it is like that with the htc touch hd in general.
come on there have to be other people here that already used their htc touch hd's dialer and can tell me if they got the same problem ?

I just recived my touch hd today and my dialer seems to be responding fine, I would say almost comparable to iphone.
hmm mine is far away from being comparable to the iphone... are there any videos of the blackstone dialer in action?

Maybe you should post more information than saying "It rains here, why?"
So if we would know how many contacts you have in Outlook, how many on SIM card, and what applications you have installed, one could possibly be more helpful.
sorry, im using the phone straight out the box (german version, no other software installed), deleted all sim & outlook contacts but still the dialer is far away from responding quick.

I have like 400 outlook contacts with my german version, and the dialer is working almost instantly.
Maybe something is wrong with your SIM Card, how old is the SIM Card, which version?
Try to use the dialer without SIM Card.
just tried it without sim card - same problem.
actually i would say it is a small delay when i push a digit, but if you need to dial a number fast its really annoying.
the dialer is far away from responding as quick as the diamond / iphone's one.
I just tried to dial a 12 digit number, and it would take me 1,5 seconds (i cannot type faster), and no error or digit left out.
I guess something is wrong with your phone.

Could you make a video and upload it somewhere so we can better understand the problem?
Same problem with slow responding in Phone application
I received my Touch HD last week and have the german language version too.
I have also problems with slow responding of the phone application of my touch HD. When I dial digits often the phone does not show the digits immediately after typing. That very bad because you can not be sure that the phone recognised the pressing of the digit you want or not.
Often when I want to pick up a call the phone application is so slow that Im not able to use the softtouch buttons on the screen because great lag.
I have not found yet a solution for this.
I have already tried soft and hard reset, even disabled all running programs befor calling but nothing helped.
I hope someone can help me.

yeah i've decided im going to return my hd, it just still has too many bugs.
i dont know if it's just the german firmware...but i will get one again as soon as theres a new firmware and they maybe fixed some bugs in the hardware.

What firmware version do you have? I have 1.14, and not found bugs that are showstoppers for me.
try this,
go in the phone application, then go to menu/options and disable the keypad sounds.
this sould make keys more responsive.
try to post as much information as possible
ROM version?
Radio stack version?
etc
etc
some information may have nothing to do with this SEEMINGLY, but you never know. and the more info we have from you the more we can help, and the more variables we can eliminate.
awaiting your video upload as well

[Cab] Leo SMS Fix for HD (new fix cab added)

Hi all,
I made a cab from the 2009-12-15 Leo SMS fix (http://www.htc.com/europe/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=812&news_id=407), so this can be installed on other devices with Sense 2.5..
I'm on a sense 2.1 rom currently, so can't test it...So be careful, it might break ur SMS function, test with your own risk and always backup (I guess the new 2.02 package has the update already or even a better fix)..
happy new year!!

New SMS Fix Cab added (dated 2010-01-14):

wath exactly it fixes?

yes...what exactly it fixes??
Is this to fix the slow Messaging with Leo Roms ??

i'm not sure what it fixes... but it doesn't seem to fix the annoying slow messaging thingy... I was just coverting the .exe which can only be installed on HD2 to a cab that can be installed on every device..
I have heard that the htc messaging in the 2.02 pack is fast, anyone tried it?
what is your point in creating a thread with a cab entitled "sms fix" and you are
not sure what it does? shouldn't you have tested it first and shared to us what
exactly it can help?
no offense, but i agree with jigners... hopefully the OP has had time to test it by now!

Am I the only one in this thread that uses the actual HTC site? or do people just like to hijack threads and flame people who are doing what they can to help the community... As I remember no one else knew what the Leo Camera Fix did either, but it proved useful, at least for some.

Looks to me like HTC don't really say what the fix "fixes" but THANKS for creating the CAB, i'll have a look and see what it effects if anything. If it's worth it I'll cook it in for my next flash
Okay, have just installed the CAB.
So far no noticable difference when sending / recieving SMS.
I'm using my own custom ROM, using WinMo 6.5 28014, and most of the packages from Leo 1.48.
Thanks again for the CAB anyway.
Hi guys,
be easy, read the link:
"this update delivers just that: fast and reliable SMS messaging."
these files have been updated:

MessagingClientDll.dll
MessagingNotification.dll
MessagingRes.dll

MsgSettingDll.dll
PushClient.exe

GetHtcMmsLimitDll.dll
HtcMailAccount.dll
JSRHandler.dll
MessageStore.dll
@Jigners
When the fix first came out, I tried it but it won't install on hd. and now I learned how to create the cab, so I just made it. I need to have my phone switched on all day right now and I'm with a sense 2.1 ROM, so can't test it, but I thought someone with a lower leo build may want to try it...
yes, you are right..sorry for let you down.. I won't do it next time.
@Swarvey&PooPoo
Sorry for wasting your time... thanks for your kind words
also gonna give it a go
still on a energy rom of 23-09 whit m2.51919
will report back later
ps gonna restore over 800 messages to test it to the ultimate
well tested it and it works sort off
i can type directly but the message im replying to isnt shown
so its kinda a fix
hi,
have you tried restoring tons of messages to see if the slowness has been somehow fixed ? Last time I've tried with 2.5 the phone almost got stuck (with about 600 messages)

I sort of think the 2 posts directly above your post answers that question don't they
thanks, I could read those, but I'd like a bit more of an explanation:
you installed the fix and restored tons of sms, what I'd like to know is this:
- adding a contact with a lot of sms history to favourites slows down the phone ?
- opening such contact slows down everything ?
- I understand there is no sms history shown in the manila contact at all ? actually that point isn't very clear to me. where is that the original message is not shown ?
what I'd like to know, if you have got time to explain it to me, is what actually the fix changes, and how fast it makes opening sms history on a contact.
One last minor point is that a big sms history had most sms cut to one or two lines.
Regards
Andy

well for from the contact page i cannot tell you as i have flashed my phone a couple of times afterwords(im trying to build my own)
for the sms not shown
when i get a new message i go the message tab and click the sms
there im supposed to see the threaded conversation between the person im replying to
the whole conversation doesnt load(waited about 3 min)
but i can directly type a reply to the text message whitout a lag

here is a fix for the slow sunny animation....
I have tested this, it works
does it work for 2.1 manila?
and come on people! just thank this guy for even bothering to create a cab and sharing it in this community.

no, the sms fix is only for Leo package lower than 1.49...and the weather fix is for any sense 2.5.. I think 2.1 manila does not need any fix, both sunny animation and sms are working ok in 2.1 manila

hd2 messaging problem?

okay guyz umm i dont own an hd2 yet but my friend does but i want one.. and he text a lot and when he goes to reply a text message the device takes like 25 seconds to load up..because it looks like it loads every text message he has with that contact and i was like.. what the hell? how can this happen? do you guys know why is doing this? is there any solution.. any new rom or xda rom that can fix this because i text a lot.. and i wouldn't be happy if my hd2 has this problem too..

thank you i hope you guys can help.
Try the Update for HTC HD2 – New SMS Function Update (for Roms prior 1.66)
http://www.htc.com/uk/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=297&cat=0&dl_id=812
does it matter if i live in usa n i use that rom? does your messages take a while to load up with the rom 1.66 or does it work fine with your hd2?
Its a generic update, so wont matter.
I use the 1.43 ROM, waiting for my provider to release an update, or until they send me my unlock before i update to 1.66.
I used that patch and it now loads messages in the background, so you can type straight away.
okay thank you.
did you see that supposedly hd2 won't be upgradeable to WM7S.?
Yeh, because it has too many buttons?! lol

[Q] Call and Texts not showing contact

Hi all
Apologies if this has been posted already but I cant find it anywhere. Maybe I am looking too hard :confused
I have the HTC Wildfire with wildpuzzle rom. I have synched my contacts up and they are synched up with F/book and everything goes well.
If I get a text come throught and have the number stored as +4415100000000 I get the contact details appear eg. Mum, but then if the number calls I only get the number eg 015100000000
how do I get the contact to appear on both?
I dont want to put all the numbers in twice
Thanks
I think this is a problem with WildPuzzle ROM.

dont suppose you know a rom that i should use instead?
Unfortunately I haven`t tested any custom rom so I can`t say. Check the respective topics of CyanogenMod, OpenFire, Modaco, and look at the bugs mentioned.

This is a problem with all roms based on the Chinese 2.2 froyo. I just changed the numbers for my most used contacts and will change them back when the official 2.2 is released

[Q]phone does not auto search contact

I need a big help please. I just mod cyanogen7. I realize that when I press dialpad to call someone, it will not automatically search in Phonebook contact. It will not show any contact person.
For example, when I want to call Steven I just press 7 and 8, and his name should show up. But now nothing was search after the mod.
Thanks
still need help. help please
same problem eventhough I flash. newest cyanogen 7004 rc1
i think htc/sense is needed for this option
and it s not available in the latest roms since HTC will not update to 2.x

As he said this intellectual search feature works only in sence UI, which is available for our click only in official 1.6 ROM and several 2.1 custom ROMS (you can find them here in development thread)

the only problem left to this mod is the youtube having no picture
I discovered this as well, and since I want to stick with the stock dialer because it runs fine I found another way. I'm just using the search button to search in my contact book, which is quite simple as well.
