hello to everyone, i have hd2 phone with 6.5 windows mobile OS. I want to know if there is someone here, that is brave, good, and that knows to tell me something about win7, and that i can trust him... i dont want to risc, and trust other forums...
so... i want to install win7 on my hd2, is it really possible, and how exacly to do that.... thx for ur help, dont hurt my feelings
Installing WP7 on your HD2 is more than easy.
Manual: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=912416
After installing it's best to test it for some minutes or hours and make your own picture of this OS. If you decide to use it further you have to activate it:
Manual: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928695
Please backup you SDcard before flashing WP7 as the tutorial says.
I you never flashed a phone before, i want you to say, that there is no risk to break your phone, if you do anything wrong while flashing. and everything is reversable, you only have to flash original windows mobile 6.5 rom and everything is the same like before.
I used android for 1 month and then decided to test WP7. Before i used it, i thought it is nothing against android, but after it started and i looked around i really fell in love with this operating system. It's simple and fast and that's why it's soooo cool! I would say it's worth to test it and if you like it, it is stable for everyday use.
Do it and you will know what i mean
If you have further problem just ask in this thread or pm me, i'm glad to help you!

thx good m8, u realy helped me ) ... i wanted to flash it before, but then i saw that someone posted on internet that u can destroy your phone by flashing it, so i must do it on my own risc, so i got a bit unsure... anyway, thanks again for ur help, and i will ask u, if i need something to know... if im allowed by u, ofc

hi, i havent had any windows mobile phone before, im completely new, however im not stupid and can learn quickly
ive ordered a clone, to get used to it, then ill buy a real jade once im familiar with it all !
so ive ordered one of these :
www . dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12811
so does anyone know how i go about installing a WM6.5 rom on it ? ill need guiding alot as i dont know what software to use to flash or what to do etc...
all help is appreciated
thanks
Tom
If you're not stupid, you should be smart enough to read the stickies and such
if you read this you will see you have to run this to unlock your device, so that you can install custom ROM's on it.
Just follow the steps provided.
Next, you can download a rom. the rom will have two files: customRUU.exe and ruu_signed.nbh
Just hook up your device to your computer, run customRUU.exe and you're done!
Flashing takes about 10 minutes, and in my experience you can use your computer while it's busy.
After the ROM is flashed, hard-reset your device to make sure the ROM is loaded correctly by your device.
Bro,
keep in mind, that although the phone is clone to HTC jade or elphin, the hardware between the original & clone is deffer, so all the roms here will not work on ur incomming clone.
Add to this it will not be at that good quality like HTC or ACER or Lenovo or samsung....
at the end, its ur decision.
same opinion here:
wouldn't have ordered a clone, but the original. difference in price cannot be that huge any more.
sorry lad, you're on the wrong track.
not development related moved to Jade general
My Uncle gave me his old HTC HD (Telstra Branded) running 6.1
I would like to upgrade it to 6.5 but have no Idea where to start or where I can get a cooked rom from .
I found a tute on flashing the 1.56 roms but the more I read the more confused I become. There is soooooo much information on here I am suffering from information overload and I cant seem to find a really basic step by step guide or where to download the cooked roms from all the links I follow are broken.
Its very frustrating for a newbie!!
Can someone please give me a leg up!

Hey Darkfibre,
Welcome to the world of phone flashing! First of all it's very important to know what kind of phone is it, is it GSM or CDMA? After that, you'll have to unlock the phone in order to flash a custom rom. If you've got a GSM device, then XDA is your best friend, if you have a CDMA phone then head over to ppcgeeks.com. Each site will have detailed instructions on how to unlock and flash your phone. Then it's just a matter of trying out a few roms until you find one that suits you. Goodluck and happy flashing!!

No worries, just follow this step by step guide:

It'll answer all questions.
Thanks the heads up guys.
I am just wondering what uncle is going to say when I tell him I turned his HD into a BRICK.
Here goes nothing
One can always use a good door stop! Goodluck!
Hi everyone.
Well I built up the courage and now its 6.5 Energy.Blackstone 21908.Sense2.5 rom.
WOW Wat a buzz when it boots up in the new rom.
Love the new ROMS its made the old HD a new phone. Now its smooth and responsive with great usability.
Just LOOOOVS the sense 2.5 interface.
Cant believe how much I have learnt in the last few weeks
You right Krook this could get adictive!!
I would like to get a pinch zoom working just to rub it in the nose of the apple buds!!
I loaded pinch to zoom but it didnt work. Is there a Rom where it works, or should I stay with opera 10.
I also run the android app on it but its a bit micky at the moment.
This **** is really exciting but HOW do you learn it all!!
I really bow to all you guys U the MEN!!!
Hey Darkfibre,
Pinch to zoom isn't really rom specific. I know I had a bit of trouble getting it going the first time. I believe opera 10 is still not supported but that may have changed. It works for me in Opera 9.7 build 35964. You may need to install a different version of opera to get it running. Still not really worth the effort imho but it's a great start.
Welcome to the community!!

Hey. I have some questions..
Im new in all of this an so pls forgive me if i ask something stupid
// I have an HD2 with 512MB Flash Memory / 576MB RAM
Im looking for an Android OS which runs stable, with good performance and if possible enough apps .. the battery life is not interesting for me.
So i hope, theres something out that fits my wishes
it would be nice if you could also link me the thread (or a video) where is exactly explained how to install the new os ( and of course a link where i can download the rom, if its not in the thread where it is explained how )
thank you

Other than that, just take your time and have a look through the NAND ROM section. Just open some that sound interesting to you from the titles and read the 1st post to see if it's what you want (Froyo or Gingerbread? Sense or no Sense?).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=928
I've not seen a ROM thread yet where the dev doesn't list what's working and what's not working, so you should be able to weigh it up yourself.
I only suggest you do this because there's no way I can tell you a good ROM. It's all subjective, and you're better knowing what options you have anyway, rather than me just giving you a link to the one I use and saying it's the best there is!
Good luck mate. If you get stuck on anything, read, read, read. If you really can't find help then you've found a very rare situation, so go ahead and ask.
Have fun
Thank you, that will help me for sure, but i have an other question.
What means "Sense or no Sense" ?
Do you know the HTC interface, HTC Sense? It's on the HD2 running WM by default, but also on Android HTC devices such as the Desire, Desire HD and Desire Z (to name but a few).
If you've never seen it it's worth a look. I personally don't use it as I prefer something more configurable, but a lot of people really rate it.
Here's a link to the Desire running Sense...

Hello,
I use a clean Android 2.3.2 and it works like a charm. 720p recording does not work, but it should be fixed in future. You can contact me via MSN or ICQ.. In german
Or you go to www.mobiletopia.de and you can read my Tutorial for flashing Android (http://mobiletopia.de/viewtopic.php?f=371&t=8275) if it is easier in german.
Im not exactly sure what it is, but i think that i like it.. so thank you very much .. I will give a try to the threads you posted above.
You're welcome mate. Good luck
You may also want to try one of the NAND builds, they replace Windows Mobile on your phone. I set up NexusHD2-Froyo V1.9b NAND for my girlfriend and she's reported no problems. It's been a few weeks now.
It runs very fast and stable.
Before you can install a NAND ROM, you will first need to install the MAGLDR. But it's all quite easy.

It's Android for the NAND of you HD2. That means that it will be installed in you phone memory.
An other option ist to install Android on your SD card and Windows Mobile is still on your device and you have to start Android from within Windows Mobile.
I think NAND is the better option, after you startet Android the first time you will never change back
P.S. i used a clean Android from the NAND-section fro Leo and it just works.
Im very new to the whole phone hacking, and porting, etc. like i dont know anything.
I want to install android or window phone 7 onto my HD 2 cause just cant stand the crappy 6.5wm.
What Os should i use. ICS, Window phone 7, etc? for daily uses. to completely replace wm 6.5.
And can someone link me to a guide for like a complete Newbs.
Dude,
Seriously? use the search button!
I'm a total N00b but even i figured it out on myself!
none the less, i'll give you some links to posts that helped me alot!
