Greetings all,
On my t-mobile g2 running Froyo : when I receive a call that has been forwarded to my g2 from another phone, there is no indication that it is a forwarded call. On my old iPhone 2g, it would display "incoming forwarded call" (or something like that). On an old nokia flip phone it would also display something to indicate that it was forwarded.
Is there some method for identifying forwarded calls? If not, is there a method in Gingerbread?
Is this an O/S issue? a phone app issue? a hardware issue?
Thanks in advance!

Yes, I know what you mean. I miss that function too since I change to a PPC 3 years ago... have not been able to fine this feature (yet).
Here are two options.
First is an auto-responder like what you were talking about. I don't know if it is any good. Should have trial period. This is the first one that i found through Google.
http://www.bytesurge.com/mobiledownloads.aspx
Second is SPB Phone Suite which gives you (I think) a button to reject a call and send a preset message in one click.
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/phonesuite/?en
Just search PPC sms auto responder on google.
am talking about somthing els
I use this with my Trinity all the time.
It is PROVIDER SETTING which can be switched on in phone settings.
Example: I am talking to my friend Mr. A. While I am talking my wife calls. I hear a sound and On the screen I see ("wife calling") I than have the option to take wifes call (while Mr A. has to wait).
Is that what you mean?

Saminegm, yes my Trinity is working like what you are saying above.
However, what I meant is something else. Allow me to explain.
Say the scenario is that my wife is talking to Ms B. My wife has call waiting activated on her cellular service. IF I call her while she is on the phone talking to Ms B, on my trinity side, I get a ringing tone without any indication that she is on the phone (which will leave me thinking why she is not picking up).
In the same scenario, should I be using a nokia phone (you all can try), if I call my wife while she is on the phone with Ms B, on my nokia phone screen I will see Caller waiting, and I will also be getting a ringing tone as well. This way I know she is talking on the phone and I won't go wondering why she is not picking up the phone.
Do you all get me now?
Call waiting tone
The call waiting tone is a network thing - I have that supported in my Trinity and I also had that in my Prophet (and obviously in all land and cellular phones). This leads me to believe that you need to talk with your service provider about that.
I always hang up the minute I hear I am on someone's call waiting.. I hate for them to have to switch calls in the middle.
Hi,
when I call someone with any PPC and the other person is on the phone, I get the busy-ringtone and Windows Mobile displays "busy" on the screen.
Or am I wrong?

Yes I agree that tone is a network thing, however my network cellular support some sort of 'display notification' on the LCD of nokia phones regarding the other party is on the phone. I am just wondering if this 'display notification' is available here on the trinity ...
No No No :-D
to make it simple lets amagen :-D
tom was trying to call joe ! But joe is busy with other call , if tom is using Nokia phone he will see a message on the phone with the word ( waiting ) so tom knows joe is busy and may be he can't talk to him !!
But if tom like me and he is using a PPC he will keep calling and can't know that joe is on the phone .
of course if your phone support more than one call

This is only the case if 'Joe' has set up his network/phone so that he can switch between two conversations. If Joe's network/phone only allows one conversation at a time, the caller will get a 'busy' tone.

My old Ericsson (NOT Sony Ericsson) phone does that as well. It displays "Call Waiting at Other Party" when I call the other guy who is already on the phone.
It is some info for me - but I don't think I can't live without it.

Well, I CAN live without it (have been living without it for the past 3 years since I changed to a PocketPC), however it's a nice thing to have.
So, have this issue solved yet thus far?
I like this features a lot but my O2 Atom Exec doesnt seems to come with it...
sighz...

you will only get the busy tone if the person you are trying to call is still connecting or has not established a connected call.
hello,
I'm using a HTC Kaiser with a WM 6.1 rom.
Sometimes I forward a normal wired telephone number via the isdn forwarding feature ( i active this using *21*numertoforwardto# on my wired telephone here in germany) to forward incoming calls to my mobile.
When now someone calls my wired number the call is forwarded to my cellular phone, and the real caller ID is displayed (so not the id of my number I forwarded from). I think this is because it is forwarded by my provider when I use the ISDN feature and not by my phone.
My old mobile (sony ericson W810i) showed a message when a forwarded call was received(while also displaying the real caller id), which indicates, that something in the gsm or umts protocol tells the phone that it is a forwarded call. As I want to be able to distinguish if the call I receive is forwarded or not on my new phone, too, I want to know, if there is a way or tool to either display a message when I receive a forwarded call or assign another ringtone to it on my HTC Kaiser?
bcom
Did you ever find a solution? Same issue here!
Hello, I'm writing in the hope that you've found a solution to your forwarded call problem. On my old phone, a Sony Treo 650, the phone could distinguish between forwarded and original calls and I could answer them appropriately.
On my blackberry 8900, there is a brief flash on the screen that distinguishes a forwarded call, but neither the blackberry programmers nor my tmobile carrier can tell me how to generate a separate ring tone for such calls.
If you found a work-around, I'd be grateful (as would thousands of others with an identical need) for some advice.
My name's Ed. Hope to hear from you.
Kind regards.
I'm also writing in hope that you have found something to identify the forwarded call.
It does not show on mt HTC Glacier froyo 2.21. Neithet T-mobile or HTC were helpful.
FYI, I have tested it on some other phones:
Samsung Galaxy S (T-mobile) not rooted stock 2.1 shows "Forwaded Call" in a separate green window, only briefely then goes out while showing the caller number.
Other older phones like Nokia E71 also show a broken arrow for forwarded calls.
Nexus S (that is made by Samsung) stock 2.21 and some blackberries I tested did not show.
I am a newbie and so far I have found out that this function is part of the "telephony" that supposedly the manufacturer puts on the phone.
There are Several other treads in this forum under Diverted or forwarded calls, mostly asking for help. One had a reference to Windows Mobile that supposedly works but it's no help for the android.
Regards
Warren
Hey guys,
Just wondering if this could be X1 related or service provider issue. When any of my contacts call me even if I have their number stored and they have caller ID active, my X1 says "unknown" incoming call instead of their name/number.
I don’t have a spare phone to try my sim in it to eliminate whether it could be provider related. I have also installed the HTC touch dialler and still says unknown caller.
Any advice appreciated
Thanks guys!
No such problem at all. Might well be you do not have the Caller ID service on this line?

Thanks
Hi everybody, I want to know what android app can enable vibration alert when the phone call is being connected. Please let me know, many thanks!
What do you mean by connected?
USB?, Wifi? or GPRS
What he means is when you call someone he want the phone to vibrate when they pick up or when you hit there voice mail.
Most HTC wm phone has this function.
My desire does this when the user is busy I think..
If that is not the reason then I have no idea :-\

I mean phone call connected
It is the same feature that the stock Hero has.
It is when you call someone or get a call, when the call is connected and the sound is coming through, then the phone vibrates a few ms.
This is just to let you know that you are ready to talk
I would like that also

Yup my unbranded desire already does this too.. when a call connects the phone vibrates a short pulse.

Thanks everybody reply my post!
I have asked the HTC CS service Hotline, they recommended me that try to Hard Reset the Desire, because the phone had this function, maybe I installed the third parties software disabled the vibrate function.
I will try it later.
I have the same problem. I have a Desire with T-Mobile Branding. No vibration! I don´t know why.
I've got an unlocked Desire and it only vibrate when connected to the mail box!
Any news to get it vibrating for all calls?

what exactly happens when you try to call the number? any message or anything?
might be worth a call to T-Mobile to verify they don't have any restrictions on the account or anything
i just hear a beep and nothing happens! i just notice that this aldo happens when i try to call a numer that it's not saved in my contacts.. so i can only call someone if his nurmer is saved in my contact list.. do you if there is an option to disable this?
thanks!
try having a play in
settings - menu - all settings - personal - phone - services - call barring (typing this from memory, wording may be slightly different).

SAME situation I'm on T-Mobile and hubby's on AT&T (work) and I can NEVER call his phone (always get voicemail) unless his phone is right next to me!
We've tried everything... once he leaves our little onclave ZAP! he's no longer reachable unless it's late at night.
this worked for me
settings - menu - all settings - personal - phone - gsm/umts services - caller ID - check everyone
thanks for all the help guys!!
