I have been watching my GPS signal with the GPS test app and the GPS has this signal drop maybe every ten to 15 seconds where it shuffles satellite signals.

Which test app are you using?
I see one by Chartcross and one by Mike Lockwood.
I will install it and see what happens on my phone.
I'm using Blackhole 3.0 with Adrenalyne's 1/21 non-voodoo test kernel.
Chartcross. I am not sure if this is kernel related or Tom related.

I ran the app on my way home from work. Had a few drop off, but kept at least 6 up constantly. I live in Oklahoma if location makes any difference (no tall buildings, lots of wide open space). I am running Blackhole 3.0 with Adrenalyne's latest non-voodoo kernel and using standalone GPS, not Verizon's.

Okay so I am now using cyanogenmod stable with the Decafuct Kernel and the decafuct battery mod. Also I am using autokiller and juice defender but I'm not seeing the results everyone is talking about..... am I doing something wrong or are there better mods I need to try?
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
You'll also need to adjust update frequency on various apps and turn your mobile data off on occation.
But does juice defender not toggle those options automatically?
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
Also I ran linpack and my mflops are still at 3.74, shouldn't they be alot more?
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
I've used the same minus autokiller and juice defender and have seen huge improvements. Have you wiped the battery? Look around for the how-to.
Also, if you run a lot of widgets you may not see the improvements.
Sent from my HTC Hero CDMA using XDA App
I'm gonna delete juice defender and autokill and see it that helps, I don't run too many widgets, just fancy widget, Calender, and winamp.
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
Well deleted the two apps and battery life was frigging horrible, dropped nearly 40% in just 2 hours without really even using the phone
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
Sounds like you have something constantly syncing or checking for updates. Check your accounts and sync menu and turn off those things you don't need constant updates on

How can I put the 4G icon to my vibrant? I have stock froyo installed

Flash a custom rom. I recommend Bionix 1.3.1. Its the best out in my opinion. It gives you the "H" your looking for and is a very fast rom. Hope this helps. Good luck!
Bionix 1.3.1 w/Overstock 1.4.1 with Scarlet Leftovers
Trigger also has it and I think it is more accurate. I had bionx for over a week and alwayse had H. I was downtown and out of the city. With trigger it changes from H ((HSPA) T-mobile 4g) to 3g and also E. Also I like trigger better.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
In themes and apps section is a theme that gives you the 4g icon bit that's all it is,is the icon so you can fake people out

nope. using Virtuous Fusion.
Gps will never be exact. Its usually off by a few feet. But gps on fusion is great. Used it when I was running the rom and it was really on point. Wasn't off by much. Just off by a few feet

Well gps is always more reliable on the stock rom, so it might be your issue. There's trade offs to using custom roms.

Works perfectly on CM7 nightlies. Locks on instantly and accurately.
After 2 weeks of trial and error this is what finally worked for me.
Download GPS status from the market.
Activate GPS status and see if it gets a lock.
When locked hit the menu button-tools-manage a gps status-then click reset.
Immediately reboot
Open maps -turn on gps and WIFI
That's what worked for me. If I don't have wifi active in the pull down tab my location shows about a mile off, when I activate WIFI i am locked dead center.
There are two other fixes I found at "I can't post links so I spaced out this site" teamroyal net /gps.html but I did not need to use them as this worked for me.
If it works can you repost back here as I'm curious what is working and not working for people.
Does anyone elses galaxy s need rebooting about once a day because after a while launchers reboot when you go to your homescreen and apps always act, like they've been force closed when you go back on then after exiting using the home button?
Also, when I'm using my phone and I get a call it hangs for about 5 seconds before my ringtone comes on. is this normal?

Download and install an apps from market . . Free . . Called 'Fast Reboot' . . It don't actually reboot but close the unnecessary programs within seconds and make the phone much faster . . It works for me. . .
It might be your rom.. What rom are you using? New ones (even stock) somehow feel better than the old ones
I'm on darky's 10.1 and I already have fast reboot but it doesn't help.

Is it just me with this problem then?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Same problem here, I'm on darky 10.1 too. Apps keep acting as mentionned above
I have already flashed the rom again but it doesn't seem to work =/

So does everyone have these problems?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Nope, no problem here phone is always responsive, even after days. Stock 2.3.4 + voodoo kernel ext4

Could you please post your baseband version, kernel etc from about phone?

I'm now on simply honey 3.8 on the dark core kernel with ext4 lagfix active. I get around 1900 on quadrant but it still feels as though I need to reboot every day becausw at some point in the day it starts getting really laggy and slows down.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
install a cache cleaner - runs daily
Mine is on stock JPJV6 and i don't reboot it neither it does itself no matter how many days it's running. I think last time i restarted it after 9 days to clear the battery stats after full charge.
Try a different kernel. Dark core just didn't play nice for me. Also try one of the ram hacks out there (juwes for example) as I found it made things better regarding the home screen.

I've never had these problems on my phone, and from the replies it seems that very few other people have, so it might be caused by your combination of non-
standard software.
Just as a test, try loading GB 2.3.3. on your phone, in it's standard form, and see if you get the same problems, if you do it's a hardware problem, if you don't it's a problem with your choice of Roms.
Best of luck.

Just flash a base rom with odin then flash custom rom. Preferable stock jvp rom

Try Ryuu's rom, I'm running it for a whole day now without charging yet and its still on %30, try it

I've got my Samsung Fascinate (Which has notoriously bad gps) to lock extremely fast and accurate (to 4 ft) by using this method..
1. Download the app GPSAids. (*Note: This will Only work for Galaxy S & Nexus Phones)
2. Run the setup and let it do it's thing.
3. Under the program preferences change the custom ntp server to pool.ntp.org.
4. Go outside. Ensure you have a clear view of the sky and both options under your phone location settings are checked (use wireless networks and use gps)
5. Download gps status.
6. Go settings > display and tools. Check the options automatic orientation, show time to fix.
Units and formatting menu
Distance > Foot, Mile
Speed > Mph
Temperature > °Fahrenheit
Gps and Sensors Menu
Sensor filtering > Strong
Main Menu
Tools > Calibrate compass, pitch, and roll.
Manage A gps state > Download
7. Download Gps Booster
*Note: It will say Gps Booster failed, just ignore it. It actually worked.
8. Your gps should lock quickly and show your position within a few feet. If it doesn't, redownload a gps state from gps status, open gps aids, download gps aiding data, click gps status at top, press sync time, and it should lock. Kindly leave some feedback or hit the thanks button if this works for you..

If you have, I apologize. I read a few threads today discussing issues with gps and thought I'd share my own method for fixing it. If it helps even a single person, i'll be happy.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
or you can flash a powerwashed rom and not have to mess with any of that
Spending that much time following those steps will definitely get you a GPS lock before you finish them..
Sent by way of the GB delivery truck..
It takes all of 5 minutes.. If that. And for those on CM7, without a modified gps.conf, your gps won't lock or be very accurate.

Im on cm7.1 and with just gps booster I get a lock in 10sec. without gps booster maybe a minute. this is from inside my house. it does say gps booster failed like you mention...makes me wonder if the latest cm7 has been tweaked like you mention in op.

I haven't tried CM 7.1 yet, so I can't give an opinion on that. I just know from personal experience that it's always taken 2-5 minutes for my phone to lock til I tried this, and it won't lock indoors. I guess everyone's hardware is different.
