I called customer care today and found out the following.
2 year contract - $199.99 (nothing new)
1 year contract - $299.99
no contract - $439.99
There's also a partial discount for early upgrades, but I forgot what she said. I was too shocked by the no contract price.
Pre-orders begin July 15th.
that's great! Will probably get the vibrant... I thought it would cost 500 and up....thanks for the info

Just called my store asking about preordering on the 15th, and the store manager told me that it was actually being released on the 15th, and that the launch had been moved up.

You got it early
Plus, you got 8gb and a front-facing camera. And no carrier logos.
someone just posted this in another forum but it confirms the $439 for a "basic" upgrade price
anybody know what a Basic Upgrade is?
http://i780.photobucket.com/albums/yy89/jasonlo34/samsung.jpg
PS just spoke to Tmo CS and there is some sort of contract involved with the $439 price but the CS rep covered so much material (you'd think it wouldn't be that complicated) that i gave up trying to make sense of what she was explaining
but the sheet at the above link is apparently valid, she had it in her system

no contract price was announced last week but they said $449.99
*Nevermind*
Wow, that's less that £300, I may have to get one of them for the lady since I'll be out there in a couple of weeks.
i'll still pay the xtra premium price to get it now, and have the factory unlocked 16 GB version, than having the localized carriers version of the phone, with 8 GB or less.
Too bad the version with the keyboard is only for CDMA networks

Both the TMobile and ATT versions have 16GB.
Also I believe if you're out of contract they will unlock it for you anyway... Or you can pay someone $10 to do it OTA.
I think what'll hurt TMobile's sales more than anything is ATT's $350 no-contract pricing on the Captivate.

If you've been a customer for 6 months or greater I believe they'll unlock your phone without any questions.
As for ATT's $350 price. I'll believe it when I see it on their order page and an order is actually shipped. The $350 came from an AT&T employee answering a question. Who knows where they got their information from. Seems like a case of misinformation just like T-mobile when they had it listed for $329.

When you pay the full price Yes it is locked, you have to ask them to unlock it. and if you run into some new guy tell him your in and out of the country regularly.
I have not had a sim locked phone in 3 years, I do it all the time.
If your worried about it, ask before you buy.

I've confirmed it like three different days with them... Seems to be good so far.
so if i were to buy this phone for the $200 2yr contract price, and i had a $100 credit, would i be getting it for $100? i know this is a stupid question, but i've been scouring the net looking for a price for current customers. and if i could confirm the $100 price, i'd pretty much induce a coma until thursday so i wouldn't have to wait.
You don't have a $100 credit, you have a $100 credit LINE. That means you can pay $100 down and three payments of $33.
Also, No Contract price is $499! Quit spreading misinformation.

I thought it'd be good if we had a centralized thread with all reported prices from various retail/online locations.
Store - On Contract/Off Contract
Amazon.com - $149.99/$599.99 with FREE Shipping and NO Tax
AT&T - $199.99/$399.99/$499.99 ($100 rebate)
Radio Shack - $149.99
Wal-Mart - $129.99 (new contract before 2/24)
If you see a price somewhere, make sure to report it below!
I am willing to bet it wil run $199 from AT&T stores and att.com.
Also, I would caution people about buying from sites like amazon.com, letstalk.com, and wirefly. They charge their own ETF for things as simple as changing your plan too much. Just be careful.

I've been with AT&T since it was bell south mobility TDMA (before Cingular), so suffering an ETF seems unlikely for me. However I've always either gotten hand me down phones or bought directly from the ATT store/site.
If my plan is stable (it is) and if I return the phone it is within the warranty period, what is my downside for saving $50?
any news on atrix gsm version price?
No one has a officially announced it outside out of AT&T (It was said Orange UK said they would get it, but I couldn't find anything from them directly), but I think it is because Motorola technically only announce the Atrix 4G, which is a AT&T specific version. The Atrix is on their website, but no one has announced it yet.
Friend of mine (AT&T employee) told me $500 for the bundle... laptop dock and phone.

If that's true, then it's seriously overpriced and will keep people away. Even if they throw in the multimedia and car docks, it's still $200 for the phone, $150 for the laptop dock, $60 for MM dock, and $40 for the car dock. That only comes to $450.
I suppose the phone could go as high as $250, or the laptop dock to $200, but I doubt it.

Hi everyone,
What do you guys think about this source?
http://techfibe.com/2011/06/17/exclusive-samsung-galaxy-s-ii-landing-on-bell-july-14th/
Looks like we Canadians might get our hands on this device next month.
I was going to purchase the international version but now waiting for official release seems like a better option. Do you guys have any predictions for the price without contract? (Bell sells Atrix for $600 so It might be a bit expensive than that, this would still be cheaper than buying it online right now b/c of all the shipping and tax costs)
I sure hope it's true
I wonder if it's the same version as the international one, or if it's NFC enabled?
I'd really like to change my SGS for this beauty, but this time I'll test the sh*t out of the GPS, before the 14 days "buyer's remorse" period it's over.

This is good news for fellow canucks. After ordering it from handtec and paying import taxes it came up to almost $800. Don't mind having an unbranded and factory unlocked model though. And yeah, it'll be interesting to see if it ends up having NFC, even though id never see myself actually using it.

I doubt it will have NFC, it would be nice to have it but I really don't care as I don't think anyone will actually use it for next two years.
The only reason I am holding back on ordering from handtec (390 GBP = $620 CAD.. price has dropped quite a bit) is b/c of the warranty and returns policy. If the device is defective I would have to ship it back to Europe and its just too much of a hassle.
I am not too worried about the tax/import charges as I will have to pay taxes if I buy from bell. So in the end I'll end up saving around $25 if I buy from Bell. And since the phone will be locked it ends up costing the same as handtec, that is if Bell sells the phone for $600-$625.
On a side note, I do look forward to switching from Wind to Bell or Rogers though. What do you guys think about the service, which one is better in terms of reception in GTA, Ontario?

Rogers for sure, I'm in Markham and travel to Hamilton for school and I always have reception in both areas... but Rogers plans are expensive, thats the only downfall.
Mobile Syrup reports the HTC Sensation is being released by Bell on July 5th. The approximate retail value is $549.95 which would be some nice competition to the Samsung Galaxy S II.
I should sell my Incredible S before these two monsters hit Bell
Was in TO past weekend and checked out the phone @ Pac Mall and the price for the S2 is between $700 to $720 unlocked depending on which store you ask. Already ordered the case via eBay and once I get the case (when this strike is over) then will get the phone. I am with Rogers and IMHO always thought Rogers had better reception than Bell but probably that's cuz I have always been biased against Bell and the idea that their reception is not as good as Rogers. =)

I also went down to the Rogers store in the same mall and the clerk there had no idea what the S2 was... guess it isn't coming to Rogers?

To be honest, I would like a NICE backup phone and for this price it's a hell of a bargain... IMO I know that prices will always fall but if your looking to use this on AT&T or Straight Talk in the US then it's a good deal considering that this device will get the updates quicker (usually) and HSPA+ is fast enough for a lot of people... I will probably ditch one of my Galaxy S 3's to pay for this (mostly) and return this open boxed one that I just got on Monday cause it's acting weird and I paid for a "NEW" item and got an open-boxed N7100 so Amazon can handle that one since it was fulfilled by them... I will probably end up getting a Note 2 on Verizon once the bootloader is unlocked (which you know it will be!) and everything will be grand!! Thanks OP!

One more question, can we preorder the phone or do we have to wait til Nov 13 to buy the phone online?

I'm sure there will be taxes collected somehow... as for when we order I'm not sure. Hoping earlier then the 13 so we get it on that day. So in other words a pre-order.

For profit. They know people will pay $20 or 30 more because they won't buy it online. You might be able to price match it if your lucky.
Profit. Cover costs like shipping. Marketing etc. Wouldn't be surprised if I see if for 450+ in stores.

Well hopefully it won't be too expensive... When I got the nexus 7 from best buy when it first came out, they charged the same as play store (259 CAD).
$403.20 after tax
dayum
btw, anybody here on wind/mobilicity?
As an employee of best buy in Canada I can tell you that the company won't be selling the phone outright. (Galaxy nexus wasn't sold either) Makes absolutely no profit (all profits come from activations not phone sales) so your best bet, and mine, is the Google play store.

I'm looking to buy the Nexus 4 for my sister who's in Mobilicity. There aren't many phones out there on AWS. :s

Not really. They get bulk discounts. You will be surprised on how much bestbuy/futureshop actually gets them for.

Are you talking about the nexus 4 specifically or (smartphones) in general? If in general I doubt they'll be able to get that much of a discount, especially off the 8gb version.
Wait a moment! So for Canadians (me) it's 359.99 + 20.00 Shipping + 13% Tax?
Are you forreal ._.

Oooooh noooooo. Super expensive. /sarcasm.
Really tho. Even at 400 that's cheap compared to a lot of somewhat comparable phones on the market.

I didn't make any profit from selling my S3 ;'(
UK buyer here. I was under the impression that the £279 for the 16 gig included tax.
After having another look on the "Devices on Google Play Terms of Sale (Great Britain)" page it states:
All prices include VAT.
All applicable taxes will be presented at checkout, even if they are not displayed on the product page.
So what is it, the price shown includes VAT, or it doesnt and an extra 80 quid will be thrown on top of the 279?
