Apk Files

I was just clearing out my SD card when I noticed in a folder called "download" on the root of the card there was a lot of apk files called "downloadfile-1.apk" with different numbers in place of the 1. Does anyone know where these come from and if I'm ok to delete them? Thanks.

These are Android packages for the apps you have downloaded probably through some application.
These are safe to delete as your actual apps installed will live elsewhere. It is safe to say if your not noticing anything not installed and you don't know what they are, these can be deleted. If you need them again and you have paid for them, the market should have these information stored with your google account and can be downloaded again if needed.
If you really want to, you can transfer them to your home pc for backup. You can find out what they are using the android software development kit if you so wish, using a program called aapt.
Thanks for the advice. Very helpful.

[Q] Where are the files I copied?

I am new to the Xoom but not that new to Android. I have copied over a few files to my Xoom but have no idea how to find them. On my phone I could always find them under My Files but I do not see anywhere to look at these files on my Xoom. Please help!!!
You need a file manager.
I made one called columnar, specifically for honeycomb devices
Look under the sdcard folder.

Apps in otg

Has anybody figured out a way to store data from app to a flash drive? I've tried multiple things like moving files on es files and even tried the directory bind app to no avail... Any other ideas?

Do a search for Directory Bind on this site. It does what you want. Caveat: I can't get it to work with 4.2, so I reverted to 4.1.2 until the emulated directory structure issue is solved.
I actually got the app from the page on xda... I just tried four times with two apps and can't get it to work... I know the two files have to match perfectly... I do have a question though... Did u rename the storage file extsdcard or did I just rename the file in the app to usbStorage?

I figured out why it wasn't working...I'm on job 4.2.

I use usbStorage because Stickmount mounts my flash drive there. 4.2 uses /storage/shell/emulated/0/usbStorage/sdn1/* for its source, and /sdcard/* for its target. I can bind them (especially on a second mount, when n=b), but apps don't find the real target. More correctly, Directory Bind doesn't allow me to specify the real target.
It works great in 4.1.2, so I am running 4.1.2.
I'm not the lowest of the low, but I am the slowest of the slow.

Google drive

Hi. Is my first time using Drive and after trying to download a ROM from "x" googledrive.com site . the only way to get that file is using google drive ( go figure ). The problem started when my only option was saying : open file using es file explorer . no saving file option anywhere. So I opened it...waited for the big file to download to drive then opens ( extract ) the ROM zip file with es file explorer but there is no option to save the zip. So now I opened my google drive app and I found the ROM zip file in "recent". Since I don't see the word Save or something like that. I used download and the file started downloading ( I thought it was like saving from drive to my sdcard ). So OK I waited again for the big file to download just in case I clicked also on Keep on my device. Now I did a search and I can't find it anywhere in my device storage or sdcard. I tries the move option and it only let me move within the folders inside drive or create a new one.
What happened to the easy way of click on download...save...done?.
How can I do something as easy and fast like that when I download something using google drive?

There should be a little i icon on the file. Press it then "save a copy". I think that's what the process is like now. It used to say download a copy or something similar.
