Finaly got it! What to do now?

Ok guys, finally have my s3, lovely. so, as im a flashing addict i need some advice now. what to install? what is the best rom out there? Any nice tweaks or what ever?
im at work and cant search whole xda so i ask you guys! help an adict

Omega is always a good starting point but don't just try roms. There are quite a few mods you can install regardless of rom just make sure the base matches .

Each ROM is a little bit different.. read the OPs.. the features, the tweaks.. see which one YOU like!

Go root it and flash CWM.
Once your done download my ROM and try it out and tell me how you like it.

Closed, I recommend reading some threads in the development section there is also a thread in the general section that lists available roms and mods/etc, "What's the best rom" or "What roms should I try threads" are OT and not needed.
Also post questions in the Q and A section in future.

GOATRIP 2.1 with Franco r.5 is the fastest and most stable ROM

I do not know the reason why this great rom GOATRIP 2.1 is not uploaded here.....but its super fast and has many not standart ROM features like
you can choose Lockscreen style and Custom app.......can change battery icons and many other tweaks......
Goatrip goes with r.3 kernel and when you install r.5 antutu score give 7624)))) and looks very smooth and fast ...... waiting to measure battery life.......
no lags, no SODs, no random restarts!!!! so happy!!!!!

How to add script that eliminate or moves most ADs?
Would be great to have different scripts to remove AD, tweaks, and so on)))
Carbon Tweaks do not work for me.... better separate sets of scripts for CWM)))

Well to each his own, I run Rocket ROM + speedmod. The best i have seen so far.

I'm using it for about a week and I must say that I totally agree with you... It's fast and customizable. AFAIK, it's Goatrip decision for not being put on XDA...
Btw, this is posted on wrong forum though. Should be on General Section...

how did you get the permisssion from them...they hate XDA for some reason..anyways but the developer of goa ROM is legend...yes as you said, the rom is really fast smooth an stable and i have been using this ROM for the last ten days on my other note..but one can download it from here

i have already posted a link...just read few lines back

it is one of the best Custom ROM. i dont really sure about the battery though but maybe it's my mistake but yeah it is nice to have GOA ROM installed on my device i use it for 2 - 3 weeks and flashed criskelo's due to battery life.

1)Link IS working, but you need to register!
2)Nobody did get any permissions!
3)We (as I speak for them) do not hate XDA, but as you saw - all Mods are in German...

[XXLQ5][4.0.4] CheckROM Revo HD v7

Since the main thread its closed, i decided to create this thread to say a couple of words of integrity and mutual respect.
Some simple steps.
Before you use ask if you can use, even if you dont ask just put some credits to other pepole work ...these are some base steps to respect others work, and win some respect.
Little things like this its not difficult to do...
Just to finish, thanks CheckROM for the V7, a great ROM that is my Stock ROM XXLQ5 De-Odexed by TugaPower... (CheckROM users they expected a lot more comming from you Guys)
Just to finish since my XXLQ5 its not more in XDA, i replaced by XWLPM...

What exactly did you think check rom was doing? They are just cooks add stuff from xda to their rom like themes and tweaks.
That's the same what they have done in your case.
They didn't have a kernel dev till now.
Real development is built from scratch like AOSP!!

S3 is their new toy, s2 is abandoned by them ... they didn't developed any ics rom for s2 just throwed some leak based rom to shut us all...

Not that I'm defending leo or gc as they put out a rom which was a huge disappointment apart from being a potential phone bricker as their stable v7 but could you back up your claims with some proof?
Both roms have a different checksum which means there are some differences between them....
Please provide some evidence before making accusations that they stole your rom

Just compare the files in zip ROM, the same date, time and minutes, even the efs backup script its from my ROM, its a little two coincindence. Dont you think so ?

Hmm, not good!
I have lost faith in CheckROM the last couple of weeks. People have been waiting for v7 ICS edition for months. Leomar said they were working on it, and people just couldn't wait! Time went by and people kept asking every day whats up with the progress. Well, we almost got no info at all. We were just told not to bee rude and let the developers do their thing.
-In my view a developer should keep his users close, and not tell lies and whatnot! The waiting-game was just BAD
Then, they release an leaked ROM without anything special!? It could even brick our phones! And no option to use Jkay's modification which was strange since people were told that the development of v7 was finished but wouldn't be released before Jkay ICS was ready. Jkay did his thing, but it took even more weeks before the leaked v7 rom came. What a disappointment!
I do have to say that I am very grateful of the work done with v4 and v6 though. Still using v6 as my daily rom and always come back to it. Have not found a single ROM that can compete with it yet...

I advise you guys to read some of the lasts posts on the closed thread. CheckROM was one of the best SamsungROMs, like on v6, but on v7, too much expectations, too much promisses, almost nothing done. We had waited a long time for v7, then one week after LQ5, they release it. They knew it was a very dangerous firmware, and they didn't care. Then why they closed the thread? I think it was because some people were finding the truth. I'm never flashing CheckROM on my phone again. I flashed v7, didn't like at all. Nothing special, nothing like XWLA4-CR v6. I see that like this: they just want to give a end to Galaxy S II CheckROM so they can move to GS III. It's like a freaking market competition, where some devs just want to move to a "updated" phone, just to build ROMs to be better than the others [or even the donation crap]. They aren't the same as they were on v6, stable maniacs. Very sad, I'm very disapointed.

If there was a single best rom, all other roms' threads would have been closed in the dev section. But has it been done? No! This is because every user has different views about different roms. The dev of a particular rom designed it with features and themes that he liked. So you gotta try different roms, and see which one you like the most. If you didn't like any one of 'em, use stock or make your own custom rom. Now i suppose you've understood why we don't encourage these kinds of threads here.

Every rom has it own pros and cons bro... It depend from which side did u see... Stability? Graphic / UI? Hard or smooth?? Every rom is different....

Since I'm a noob and have a noob question I'm going to hijack this thread instead of starting a new one since my question is related to this topic:
I see many of you are frequently switching roms on your devices. Testing out new ones regularly. Do you always have to re-download all your apps and tweak their settings after each time? Or is there some way to back up all the apps and their settings before flashing and restore everything on the new rom?
I just got this phone a couple of days ago and immediately decided to try a different rom (stock one drains battery) so I went for chobits digitalis and am very happy (only found one bug, maybe two), but I had to re-download everything I had and tweak all settings back the way the were manually after flashing... Unless there's a way?

Or u can try 2 apps from market like app backup and restore and super backup ( for contacts and msgs)..
They are easy to use..

i can be tester if you want but i am all noob at development. there are others devs who are willing to help you..wasim,stone.cold..
a warning for you ...you are posting too many threats all over the threats so beware your account can be disabled because of this. so don't post unnecessary threats here on xda and keep everything up to the mark.
