Strange problem here. My keys used to remain locked when the device turned off after 3 mins. I liked it that way cause if I had my 9100 in a bag or pocket there wasn't any danger of pressing keys on the screen after a call I didn't take or a message I received but didn't read.
After my device hang once and I rebooted (soft reset), the keys are unlocking after I turn it on (or if it turns on by some kind of event). This is frustrating because things might be pressed on the screen... But I don't want to do a hard-reset.
Is there a registery setting it might have been altered? Did anyone have the same problem? Where should I look?
Thanks in advance,
Constantine.
Hi folks
I'm back again with some more dumb questions (bear with me - I'm Irish).
On my old Nokia, I could lock the phone by pressing 2 keys and hey presto, phone now safe!
With the HD, things seem a bit complex. Firstly, there's power managenent that controls how long the back light stays on for and how long the phone stays on for before going into stand by.
Q1. Is standby not another form of locking ? If so why not just press th epower button whenever you want to lock the phone and be done with it ?
Then there is the built in locking software that comes with the app.
Q2. Whats the problem with this? (i.e. long pressing the end key and choosing 'Lock the device'; Why do we even need S2U2 ?
Then there's S2U2 itself. The settings page is long and complex.
Q3. Is there a S2U2 manual anywhere ? (to explain some of those ambiguous settings)
Finally, and here is my most important question...
Q4. Can I use my HD like I used to use my Noika - i.e. press a key or 2 to lock the goddam phone an just be done with it ?
As it is, when I want to use my phone, I have to press the power button to take it out of standby, and then I have to slide the S2U2 unlock switch. Its a lot of hassle just to make a phone call.
Is it me? Am I that stupid? What am I doing wrong ? What am I missing ?
Doesn't pressing the "End call" button for 2-3 seconds also lock the phone?
Regards!
I do understand what you're saying. I figured out something really basic just the other day, that is if your phone is locked or in sleep mode just pull out your stylus and it'll unlock and wake up.
Just 1 movement.
Sorry if this is really common knowledge and you already know this but sometimes we overlook the more basic functions on such a complex device!!
Cheers

Power button into standby is a fine lock for me. Nearly impossible to accidently knock the power button to turn it back on.

Yep i do this too.
Press the power button mate, and it will lock the phone
I like how the phone unlocks when you take the stylus out but i didnt like how it locks the phone when you put the stylus back in, so i removed that function using the options in gyrator
I have got TOUCH HD since 1week.
I haven't problem with touch hd like touch diamond.
it is in my pocket but the new phone canvas and the sensitive key prenve nt missing call.
for me no need s2u2 or pocket shield like diamond.
is there a registry option for disabling the unlock when the stylus is removed/falls out ????

I searched a long time for this, but I didnĀ“t find a solution
Standby locking
I also "lock" my phone by sending it to standby with the power button. This seems to work realy good for me. The only problem is that the HD wakes up if someone is calling. So i often answer a call by accident. Does anyone know a way to deactivate the automatic wake up?
I tried the registry hack with autolocking but this doesn't work for calls either.

Should the device lock when I put the stylus in? I get the impression from this thread that it should but mine doesn't?
Hey all i installed BSB tweaks on my phone and i think i have disabled the lock feature on the phone when pushing the hangup button (hard button). To lock the phone i need to click start---then lock on the touch screen. bit of a pain as i would like to do it with the hard hangup button. when i push it instead the screen turns off, then if i push a button it wakes. can anybody help please. i tried searching the forums but couldnt find anything on it. cheers.
This happened to me too, but it seems like (at least that's how I recall it) the last thing I did before this happened is setting an alarm, turn off the phone (or maybe not, I am not sure) and when I dismissed the alarm, the "off" button started to just turn off the display isntead of locking the device

Hey i also had this problem afer installing BSB Tweaks, it hink all you have to do is when the phone it on hold the power key stil it comes up with the options to power off or lock and that....then simply select lock device and it should go back to normal!
how to lock all buttons exept the power button in wm6.5 ?
In wm6.1 it was possible to change that in settings/keys menu. But in wm6.5 this is gone for some stupid reason!
I dont want to use ext. app like pocketshield for such a basic and simple feature.
Reason: when phone is screenlocked - any hardwarekey wake up phone from standby. And of course the screen pops up and drain battery. HD2 keys are recessed and in the pocked can easyly accidentialy get pressed. When screen weaks up for some reasons (incoming call or other notification event) the buttons are not locked and i dont need to describe what funny things can happen then (just imagine on your own). Even accidentialy changes to my settings happened in my pocket without recognising.
HTC: this is ridiculous.
Pls help. Is there maybe a easy reghack to activate this basic feature again, like it was implemented in previous Rom versions?
the button lock in WM6.5 is the same as WM6.1 (got X1 before)
but in HD2 it's different.. and I don't think anyone solved this problem yet...
No known solution indeed, apart from using S2U2, and if you want to save more battery adding proximitylock.
what if you locked the keys while you are making a call with bluetooth and you want to look in your phone? You'd have to press the "end call/power" button..
Also since the power button turns the screen off, I automaticly press the same button to turn the screen on when I'm not making a call.. I can't count the times I've ended a call by accident like this.. another great design flaw of this phone
I still hope someone will find a solution for a working hardwarebuttonlock
no one found a solution yet?
i'm having the same problem and strangely i am irritating myself to death on this,
Not a good job HTC!
Hi all,
I'm using Energy ROM with Cookie Home Tab, currently this one: Energy.BLACKSTONE.21916.Sense2.5.Cookie.Classic.DinikGlass.Oct.08. I have tried several versions, but lock screen behavior is still the same...
When I put my device into standby mode, it goes locked automatically, that's what I want. But when I turn it on I want the unlock button to respond promptly, without any delay. It is working correctly after flashing my device, but after first restart I'm not able to use unlock button immediately and I need to wait a little bit (1 or 2 seconds) and then slide the button to unlock the device.
Has anybody discovered the same behavior? How to fix this and use unlock button immediately after the display goes on?
Thanks,
Vladino
Edit: I'm sorry, I just woke up and missed the thread where it is solved: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=587931
