Right now this is just for with Kies and odin. When I find a flashable stock version I will post it, when I find a flashable version rooted I will post it, when I find a bloatware free flashable version of it I will post it. Just give me a few to track down all the links, I have other things I'm doing. (or feel free to post them to help this out.)
ODIN Official 2.2 thanks to Chainfire
Click HERE for a link to a thread with a download to ODIN files that will do the same thing as the kies way would.
Thanks to Whitehawkx for these FroYo flashables.

Your efforts to help out those of us who are less skilled are greatly appreciated. People like myself are who you intend to help. We understand how valuable your time is, and we recognize how kind you are to help us out with these kinds of posts.
Tools who make unappreciative posts, or worse, are not your audience, so I would recommend that you let their nonsense roll off your back like water off a muskrat's ass.
I for one am eagerly anticipating a rooted bloatware-free flashable KA6/7 that I can simply place on the SD card, fire up CMR, and update the device. If you are able to put that kind of an item together, as you mentioned, individuals like myself will truly benefit.
Many Thanks,
2 questions about ODIN
are we using the same pit file for all rom?
Can I flash this KA6 rom later to restore my phone,
or I still need to flash JFD to completely restore it?
Between the section on installing mini kies and the section on preparing the Vibrant I found that sometimes one has to insert an extra step.
Enable USB on the development option off the applications section (see pic for #3 under the prepare the Vibrant). Then connect to the PC and the PC will install drivers suitable for the phone. After windows tells you driver installation is complete, unplug, turn off USB development and proceed on exactly as given above.
Might not be required for everyone, but was for me on one machine (Acer dual core, windows 7, 32 bit).
Cleaned Thread!
Deleted off topic.
Please keep this thread clean!
What exact issues can be seen when using update over jfd vs ji6, the only issues I noticed were after successful update, screen sensitivity was poor, web pages were jumpy and laggy, I am back on jfd with root and mcr scripts lagfix and it performs 100% better than this froyo, is this merely coincidental or the way it is?
I had the regular galaxy S boot screen prior to the KA6 upgrade. Now I have the vibrant screen, the t-mobile boot and the galaxy s screen. Is this normal? I can't remember as I changed it a long time ago.
I've done what this thread has told me to do. When I plug my phone in I do not get any driver/hardware notifications. Kies updates when I first open it, and when I finally have everything to the point (besides the things I just mentioned) to plug it in push kies on the phone, and have it update... It never says my phone is plugged in. It just says "please connect phone".
Am I forgetting something? Am I supposed to be rooted to do this? True n00b here looking for some help.
thanks in advance!
i got new way flashing roms i put it on floppy drive i put foppy disk on top of my phone and hammer it down in to it wualla foryo it is , and dont get me started how to flash ginger on my toaster

Firmware version: unregistered Device
Firmware upgrade: this is blank

this was true for me too. i also had to try 3 different usb ports on my laptop before kies mini liked my vibrant lol. but i had learned that from updating to JI6, so this update was issue free

it should not wipe anything at all except your home screen configuration (number of homescreens, widgets, shortcuts etc). i had backed up my home screen config with Mybackup Pro and it only restore shortcuts, and number of screens, not any of my widgets, oh well.

This is what I found to be true as well. Alarms, contacts, app data all was fine. Only home screens were back to default.
Good luck
Help please, I am a little nervous about what's going on with my phone and PC.
Followed instructions here, everything went swimmingly. Update started downloading to the phone and I had to get up top go to the door to answer it. I was away for maybe 3-5 minutes. When I got back, the phone has android sign with robot and shovel and says "Downloading... Do not turn off Target!!!" There is a blue progress bar that looks like it is about 90% across but has been stuck there for about 20 minutes. My PC is acting like it has gone to sleep or something. Screen is off, kb and mouse are unresponsive (both are USB), but the PC is still on. I turned off the monitor and turned it back on and it gives me the "No signal" message.
Please tell me I have not ruined my phone! I don't know what to do! I don't understand why it got this far and then hosed.
PC is Windows 7 64 bit. Any other info needed to help troubleshoot? I am starting to freak out a little bit.
Ok crisis averted. Out of desperation I unplugged my mouse from the back of my PC and plugged it back in and that seemed to bring my PC out of its slumber. The update said it had failed and I had to go through the Emergency Recovery procedure. After going through that, I am now updated to 2.2!!
This doesn't work for me. The KIES app says "Please connect your mobile phone." And when I connect the phone, it doesn't do anything. It still just says "Please connect your mobile phone."
This is one of those instances in which nothing I do seems to work. No matter what people suggest - things that work for everyone else - don't work for me. I'm ready to scream, or throw something, or cry... I'm not sure which.

This doesn't make sense to me because when USB debugging is enabled then you don't have the option to select KIES/Mass Storage/Media Player/etc.
With USB debugging off, my PC recognizes the device... I connect, select Kies, then Autoplay comes up and calls the device SGH-T959. However, the Kies software on my computer still just says "Please connect your mobile phone."
I just don't get it.

After successfully;
researching, upgrading to the official build of my choosing, getting it to work and typing this tutorial out (for those that like me weren't knowledged in this),
I stumbled across this thread. I thought I should also share it here aswell.
Here's a N00b's (Dummy's) Guide to how to update your device from the stock software to the Official Samsung Froyo ROM (software/operating system) OF YOUR CHOICE!!
Why do this?
You get Froyo. So you get the latest version of Android to support more Apps.
It comes with some UI-tweeks, JIT-compiler, and FLASH 10.1 PLAYER!!!
Also you get a newer (better) kernel on your phone with some of Samsung's fixes for the lag and for the GPS.
You can get features/Apps not available in your native rom build and/or remove the bloatware.
This method (not incl E) can also be used to install custom ROMs (I personally can't wait for the Official English MIUI ROM).
** Denotes steps which I skipped, or was unable/unwilling to follow, or didn't quite understand
Here's the comprehensive, step-by-step, easy-to-follow breakdown/walkthrough (Section E only works on Windows Computers):
A) Remove your microSD card (this will prevent some weid issues later on)
A2) Make sure you have Kies downloaded and installed on your computer
A3) Make sure you have an extractor installed (for Windows 7, winRAR is a great free solution)
B) We need to root your device, for this goto "One Click Root/Unroot" by TGA_Gunnman at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=742403
B1) Download (2.5MB) the software (depending on your computer, mine is Win7 Home Premium 64-bit) into your computer not phone
B2) Make a folder somewhere in your computer labelled "OneClickRoot" (or anything) and drag the .rar file (the one you just downloaded) into it
B3) Extract the contents of the files by Right-Click then "Extract Here" (If you don't have this option install WinRAR)
B4) Set your phone to USB Debug mode (on your phone goto MENU > Settings > Applications > Developement > USB debugging = Checked) and then connect the phone to the computer via USB cable.
B5) Open the "Galaxy S I9000 One-Click Root" application. (This step didn't work for me, so I instead opened "rootme" batchfile which started the command prompt).
B6) Your phone will shut itself off, and then turn on in a "recovery mode". DO NOT REMOVE THE CABLE. Use the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons to get to "install from " and then hit the Home button.
B7) Now your device should be restarting again but this time it will actually go to your lockscreen.
B8) Now, you have ROOT, Congratulations.
B9) Not sure? We can test to see if you have root. Goto Market on your phone and download two Apps (Superuser and Titanium Backup, use the search to find them fast).
B10) Install both and launch Titanium Backup. As soon as you turn it on it will come up with a pop up and say something like "Your device is not rooted" or "Root is not accessible" ... if you didn't get Root.
B11) If you have root it will say something like "Titanium Backup needs to gain permission from Superuser" here click Apply. If you get to the App, well done you have indeed Rooted your phone
C) Now if you want to Backup your device before the update (recommended) you can follow steps C, otherwise skip straight to Step D.
C1) On Titanium Backup if a pop up notification comes with something like "Download an updated BusyBox" allow it to do so.
C2) Now first thing you will want to backup your Apps (all paid and free and the levels/hiscores) make sure you don't have any emulator ROMs on there (they consume too much space) and delete all those unwanted Apps
C3) On Titanium Backup, hit the Menu button > More > Create "update.zip" ...
C4) On this screen select "User application" and "TitaniumBackup-3.6.2.zip" and UN-TICK the "Sign the ZIP file (with ZipSigner)"
C5) Hit the Create "update.zip"... on the bottom and Please wait
C6) Once it finishes it, exit Titanium Backup, go back to settings and disable USB debugging (as posted on B4).
C7) Connect your phone to your computer (through Kies or PC link) and then browse your My Computer until you find Galaxy S I9000.
C8) Open that folder and then open phone. Find "TitaniumBackup-3.6.2.zip" and copy that to somewhere on your computer.
C9) Now that we have backed up your applications, lets backup your ROM.
C10) According to TGA_Gunnman you can use Clockwork MOD Recovery to do this, but this is for a different (Galaxy S) device ie "Samsung Vibrant"
**C11) Follow the steps on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734164 to do so, personally I skipped doing so out of fear of bricking the device (there may be subtle differences between the devices that can make your phone a paperweight/brick)
C12) Now if you did follow the Clockwork MOD, be sure to copy the "update.zip" file somewhere into your computer (better be safe than sorry)
D1) Now we need to apply the 3-Button-Combo Fix (this is the only reason for steps A-C because it is highly recommended to have this before flashing ANY rom)
D2) I recommend the Fix by RazvanG http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=821698 because it seems to be the *safest*
**D3) Firstly check if your device is compatible. I wasn't successful to dump my BML1 block, so I couldn't test if the block reads "[email protected]"
**D3) RazvanG has provided some instructions on this method see his post for more information http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9595936#post9595936
D4) So I took a leap of faith and continued anyways with the risk of bricking my device. I have it on contract/plan so if it fails I would just return it and say Kies was updating and it failed
D5) I followed the steps on the thread but I'll reitterate it here for your convnieance
D6) Download both files (RAZ-FiX-SGS and adbRecovery) from the thread.
D7) Make a new folder (adbRecovery) on your computer and extract the adb .zip file into there
D8) Connect your phone to the computer and copy the RAZ-FiX-SGS.zip into your phone's memory
D9) Delete the old Update.zip file AND rename the RAZ-FiX-SGS.zip to Update.zip
D10) Again, turn on USB debugging (you know how) and open "Recovery" batch file from your computer
D11) This will initiate a command prompt (on Win7) and restart your phone
D12) Your phone will go into recovery mode (like we've seen before)
D13) You need to navigate (Volume buttons) to "apply sdcard; update.zip" and hit the Home button
D14) Your phone will turn off and restart and should get to your lockscreen
D15) So you're at the lockscreen? SUCCESS! (mine didn't brick *pheww*)
D16) Now let's test to see if the 3-Button-Fix worked
D17) *IMPORTANT* Firstly browse into your phone's internal memory and delete update.zip (the one we put there from RazvanG)
D18) Now that you have done so, you can safely just turn off the device
D19) Hold the Volume Down + Home button ... then hold the power button, as soon as the device begins to turn on release the power button (keep holding Volume Down + Home)
D20) If you get a Yellow triangle with the Android robot and "Do not turn off Target", well done, you have the 3BF so you have a means to ensure that you can always recover your phone if you do brick, well done!
D21) You can *safely* remove the battery and restart your phone ONLY if you don't have a Update.zip in the root of your phone
D22) If you don't want to take a leap of faith try this method (safest method but doesn't work for some people): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=860773
E1) Now is the fun part (we've just past the difficult parts)
E2) You need to hunt down the version of (official Samsung)software you wish to install ... just go through member's reviews and recommendations
E3) You need to find the product code of that build, you can do this navigating through this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846913
OR by asking members (they can find out with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=787163)
E4) For me this was the Virgin mobile Australia build (XSA - an unbadged, no-bloatware, unlocked Froyo build with a free copy of Navigon Navigation)
E5) Make sure you update your Kies to "ver 1.5.3.10103_102" (latest as of the time I'm writing)
E6) Go visit this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835628 for information (the software may have been upgraded)
E7) Download (300KBs) the Kies Registry patcher 1.6.0.0 (latest as of writing) <<This only works on Windows computers, sorry Mac'ners>>
E8) Launch the Kies Registry Patcher WHEN KIES IS OPENED
E9) Click on File > Backup (and save this somewhere in your computer - this is your original product code - better safe than sorry)
E10) Make Enable Spoof to True
E11) Now where it says "Spoof Product Code as" type in the product code of your desire (mine is XSA)
E12) Hit Write Registry and it should say "Registry pathed successfully"
E13) Connect your phone via USB cable to the computer
E14) On your phone select "Samsung Kies" when the pop up comes ... it should be at the "Connected" screen (DO NOT HIT HOME BUTTON)
E15) On Kies it should find your phone, and a pop up on the corner will say "There is a firmware update available for your phone" hit that pop up
E16) Now you will see another pop up and it's asking if you want to "Back up contacts before upgrading firmware" ... seems like a good idea, tick the box and hit Upgrade
E17) If the screen on the phone shuts (ie standby) don't be alerted. Hit the power button to wake it up. DO NOT HIT THE HOME BUTTON!
E18) Another pop up will come to name the contacts file - I just hit save so its the original filename in original (Samsung)folder
E19) Another Pop up will come to say "Save to PC completed" - hit OK, its just letting you know the contacts saved properly
E20) Now you get another Pop up to start the Firmware Upgrade - This is an important area, note down the: Model Name, Current Version and Latest Version (if something goes wrong this info maybe valuable for developers)
E21) Mine is (model)GT-I9000, (current)PDA:JG4 / Phone:JG3 / CSC:JG2 and (latest) PDA:JP5 / Phone:JP3 / CSC:JP4 ......... notice they are diffirent, this is what I was looking for
E22) Hit Upgrade! (Allow Kies to function when Windows 7 or Windows Vista prompts you)
E23) Tick the "All information has been verified" and Click Next
**E24) Let Samsung record your phone number in their database? I don't care (I'm on insurance/contract/plan) and I hit "Allow saving" ad Clicked Next
E25) Wait patiently, its downloading the rom from the server, DO NOT UNPLUG THE DEVICE
E26) A progress bar will appear, your USB will get disconnected, reconnected several times, the phone will be stuck on the yellow triangle screen - these are normal
E27) The progress bar will slowly be filled from grey to blue and a progress bar will appear on your phone - almost there!
E28) The progress bar on the computer will finish and the pop up will read "GT-I9000 Upgrade completed" - Click Close
E29) Your phone will restart and will enter "recovery mode" some yellow texts will appear and scroll forward
E30) The phone will reboot again and you will see the boot image with the Galaxy S logo
E31) The phone will be stuck on that logo for awhile - be patient
E32) The phone will now get to your lockscreen, unlock it
E33) You will have to go through your initial setup firstly its the Swype tutorial, then data settings, and finally the account settings emerges
E34) If the Kies connection screen comes up: hit the home button
E35) Now you should have come to your Homescreen go and test everything (all your passwords, all your bookmarks, all your contacts, all your images/music/videos and all your apps (except bloatware) should be there but the order of all the widgets/apps in TouchWizz will be reset to abc-order)
E36) Goto Settings > About Phone Does it say Android 2.2?
E37) Well done you have passed Android Hacking 101, you are officially smarter than 50% of iPhone and Blackberry users
E38) Donate me a beer, nah just kidding, enjoy everything for free but feel free to donate to the developers that help make this possible

Wow.
I don't think anybody that don't now much would read that.

I did read about half of it and then i just stop and shake my head.
I hope this tread is a joke.....

Can you elaborate?
Joke? No it's no joke but I should disclose (as always) this is a tried-and-true way of getting you to update your software but in no way can I be held responsible for damages.
Things may vary slightly in between different phones which is why the links for each source/thread is up there.
I found myself knowing what to do, but always guessing how to do it.
This is a step-by-step process of how and what I did to upgrade my phone to any ROM I want.
If this was posted up before I attempted my upgrade, I would've been so happy that someone really simplified it for me
This is a noobs guide??!!! Simplified??!! I think that everyone will appreciate the time you have spent typing this up and trying to help, but I'm with DamianGto, dude this guide is scary and just explains how YOU got YOUR particular phone running froyo and lets face it, you certainly didn't go about it the easy way!
Once again I think the time you have spent and the willingness to help is admirable, but there are much simpler and noob friendly guides out there

Well you need root + busybox to get the 3 button fix.
If anything a n00b did, they can recover with 3 button trick otherwise they will have a brick.
This is why this guide is long, to ensure things are a-ok.
If you found a friendlier guide can you post the link, much apprecated ;D
How do I exit downloading mode if I forgot to erase update.zip ?
What is it ? Kies
A2) Make sure you have Kies downloaded and installed on your computer
Thanks
Well I think this is an excellent guide that has great potential!
However, a couple of crucial mistakes, which if fixed could help make the guides less confusing...
At beginning of (D) you talk about (A-C) being solely so you could fix your 3 button download (which I don't think is actually true!)
.... But, you should mention 3 button download at the very start of the guide anyway!!
Also, you should include a quick test at the very start to check for 3 button download, because mine is already fine, so a newbie might run all those extra steps when they already had working 3 button download anyway! (The more sections that can be skipped the better!). You can then steer people to the sections they uniquely will need.
However, titanium backup isn't needed for 3 button download fix, but is a wise step before running a rom update. And this works best with root anyway. Hence I don't think your opener for (D) is very accurate. You didn't just complete those steps JUST to get download mode. The backup was important anyway!
Do others think there should be a stage added for backing up contacts etc?
A stage for backing up efi?
Anything else wise that should be in here?

I have a regular Samsung Galaxy S. Well I did have until today, and I ventured through the installation of the insanity ROM. By regular, I mean very, very, very, ordinary.. I’ve not even root’ed by Galaxy. So to get to a nice stable working insanity Galaxy S, I performed the following steps :
What is insanity?
insanity ROM is a basic, small, light-weight ROM that focuses on core functionality and speed. It is <70 Mb of installation if your phone is already root’ed. It also supports tweaking the DPI so that you can have almost any resolution you like (depending on the screensize of your phone).
Safety Copy
As I’m fairly cautious I wanted to make sure I had a copy of my data, and had the ability to “go back” to the stock phone.
To get a copy of the data, I installed the Samsung USB drivers (my other machine uses Kies, but it’s not powered up right now). You can get the drivers part way down this page :
EZBase Downloads or the direct link:
Samsung USB Drivers (x64)
Samsung USB Drivers (x86)
After installing the driver (no reboot required) I then go in to the phone settings and turn on USB debugging, and plug the phone in. It then appears as a Windows device. After that I copied all of the files from my device to a temporary place on TWO of my desktop computers!
Going back to the beginning .. well I hope I never have to, but if I do, I already downloaded the original ROM from : Stock Firmwares for Samsung Galaxy S I9000 Thread - This is my base release : I9000BUJG2|2.1|2010 July
EZBase
This is the forum page for EZBase
Basically I followed in the instructions in the PDF which is located off that page. You download EZOdin, EZBase.pit, and the three files ending in MD5. One of those is 250Mb+ so it takes a bit of time. You then have to restart your phone in download mode… to do that power off the device, press the volume down button, the home button, and the power button.. then wait a few seconds for the splash screen to appear and let go of the buttons. The phone should go in to Download mode.
Once you’re there, run EZOdin, per the guide in the above link, and maybe 5 minutes later all will be rebooted. Your phone will already probably look considerably different! At this point you can plug the phone back in, and copy the insanity zip file to the /sd folder… ready for the next step.
During the installation of EZBase it might do a few quirky half reboots, that’s all fine, it’s installing a new kernel and mode, and it’s meant to behave a bit oddly whilst doing that !
Recovery mode to get the insanity ROM installed
You then have to restart your phone in Recovery Mode. This time it’s volume up, home, and the power on button.. for a few seconds, then when the logo appears, let go of the buttons. Once in recovery mode follow the screenshots on the insanity forum page for the steps to follow, and in a few minutes you’ll have a rebooted phone with insanity installed.
Tweaks / Post Installation
Unlike many ROMs out there the insanity ROM is very small – less than 70 Mb. So there are quite a few apps which aren’t installed any longer, but, you can get them back with nitrality. Here is a run down of the things that I’ve done so far :
I checked my gallery and my music – it’s all still there ?
Open nitrality (you might get warned about it taking super user access, just accept that). Go to UI Tweaks and then tick the box saying “Application scaling”. Old applications will now hopefully behave nicely.
Whilst still in the UI Tweaks section I changed Popup Animations and Transition Animations to fast, and checked the box next to Fancy Input Animations
Now in nitrality, open Applications (and wait a little bit if it is the first time you have run it). Scroll down to near the bottom and install the Voice Recorder. It’ll record all your incoming and outgoing phone calls by default !
Tweak what gets recorded.. because you might not be quite as paranoid as peoples say! Swipe the home screen downwards, and the phone will appear (or open Applications). Click Recording Settings, and then tick the boxes next to either incoming or outgoing, or whatever you prefer.
Whilst in the Recording Setting page consider turning off the “Disable increasing ringtone” by ticking the box at the top.
Customise swipe bindings by going into Preferences from the home screen, and click on Action Bindings. By default Swipe Down is set to “Open Dialer” as an example.
Install the Gmail addon if required, from the insanity page.. you have to restart (one more time) into Recovery Mode to do that … but you don’t have to do some complicated finger pressing any more. Hold the power button down as though you are going to switch it off, and choose Recovery in the list.
I then dragged and dropped the following to the home screen :
- Phone
- Gallery
- Camera
- Gmail (On launching Gmail I had to set up my account again but that’s fine.)
Next up for me, is to install :
My To Do List manager
My Flickr Uploader
And I want to test GPS, when I go outside (but it’s cold today)
Maybe now will be the time when I investigate some other apps that do those jobs!
I have to say there was a bit of a hairy moment or 5, when it appears that I was touched by the 50% on Cell Standby "bug".. I got that sorted thanks to Nitr8 and TrOjAnUK. I think it was a mixture of turning off HSPDA, and the new XXJVK modem suggested by TrOjAnUK, and, the in-and-out-of-air-plane-mode. Have a look at the battery post for more details.

Great thanks for adding to the main trail on the insanity thread, I know there was lots of discussion on that thread about noobs and stuff (I'm not even as advanced as a noob yet!).

I think it's important to "write down" what I did... otherwise by tomorrow I'll have forgotten almost completely.
The only fault I see with this is the fact you should really have added [HOWTO:] in the thread topic..
Might be worth asking a mod to do it if you are unable to edit it now.. apart from that, well done great work.. now go and enjoy your phone thats an order
TrOjAn
D'oh.. Okay, I've done it (Advanced Edit FTW)
That's an amazing way to enter and present oneself to a forum.
Many many thanks, I as many come from nitr8's thread, and I'm using your post to help me help my friends (so I don't have to carry on all the work and they also learn a bit).
Naturally you had to be friends with nitr8! Keep up the good work!
Thanks Mumps, much appreciated. If you use the thread, let me know if there are any adjustments that can/should be made, and I'll update it gladly.
Well done guy. Maybe you should hang out in the insanity thread and abuse people that claim to be new and are just being lazy
Nice; If I'd read through things here and on the main thread properly yesterday (now THERE's a tip!!!), I would have not worn a hole in my screen trying to sync my contacts!
About updating Insanity ROM
I am Sorry if my question is stupid but I didn't find answer from the forum...
I got a SGS with Insanity 0.6.5 version installed in it (previous owner did this). I would like to install the newest version. Since this already is rooted phone can I just follow the following instructions?:
1.Backup all your data, a CWM backup is nice to have
2.Copy Insanity ROM to internal SD Card
3.Reboot into Recovery Mode
4.Flash insanity via CWM ALL data will be wiped
5.Full Reboot - Wait for phone to start up
6.Reboot into Recovery Mode
7.Install Customizations via CWM - Battery Icon Mods & Apps
8.Reboot
Or do I need the install the EZBase etc?
Thanks for the help in advance!

Kinda makes one wonder... we're getting daisy-chain posts now...

What do you mean, if you want the recovery version, look at the original thread in the developer forum. Also, this thread is pointless as 1. The main topic is in the developer forum 2. there are around 2 or 3 guides (including mine) that explain all of this anyway.

What to do you mean by that? You need to have command prompt set to the directory or the ROM along with the fastboot files.

At first let's begin with the ROM - download itself. There are different versions of those tablets, so choose wisely
I'll post only the Android 4.2.2 versions of the rooms, if you want, you can update them by yourself with the OTA. It is because at the moment you can root the JB - version more easily. (FRAMAROOT for 4.2.2 Jelly Bean versions only!!)
You have to register on this forum for download - permissions!!

for download click on the green button on the top right side:
1. Drivers
Click to collapse
Now, whyle you are downloading the ROM, lets look at the drivers you'll need.
At first you need Lenovo USB Driver [from this site] version 1.00.11. 9,28mb
Next step youl need some other drivers and tools:
Driver for USB "download mode" [download it, unzip and place it on your desktop.
SP Flash Tool Driver Auto Installer [9,49mb] - works only with Windows ХР SP2, Windows Vista, Windows 7.
for installing unsigned drives on Windows 8, follow the guide below:
Get access to Startup Options: HOWTO - Method 2 is the easiest way for me
Once you are there (After a restart) you have to choose number 7 (Disable driver signature enforcement)
When you install unsigned driver after it, windows is allways asking you this:
- install this driver anyway
2. Install the ROM
Click to collapse
What do you need:
At least 30% of battery
All Driver from above and unzipped driwer for "Download mode"
time
Now let's begin.
Install the USB driver.
Unzip The ROM and put it on your desktop.
Turn off your device and unplug it from USB (if its pluged in).
for Windows 7/Windows Vista/Windows XP: Install the SP Flash Tool Driver Auto Installer from above and jump to step 7.
go to "Device Manager (link for short guide)
now when you are in your device manager it'll be a little bit tricky. When you NOW plug in your device (it have to be turned off), a new "unknown" device will appear. It will be there only for a few seconds, so you habe to be quick. RIGHT-Click on this unknown device and then go to "Update driver" in preferences. Then choose the driver you had downloaded and unzippt on your desktop. Thats it!
Now start the FlashTool.exe, (I think which you'll find in your unzipped ROM in the "Upgrade tool" folder. And plug in your device (micro USB)).
Click on "Scatter loading" (like on the image above). Then go to your ROM (you know, on your desktop) and in folder "target_bin" choose this file: "MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc.txt" (I am nbot shure if its the same name on all ROMs, but it has to be something with "scatter" in its name.
Click on "DA DL ALL WITH Cheksum" (without it, the device wont start after flashing and you have to flash all again) you'll see it on the pictures below:
The "FAC" - file will be propably not checked.
Just choose it in your ROM folder by yourself in target_bin folder:
Click on "Firmware -> Upgrade"
Then you'll see some pink lines loading. When the lines bekame yellow, you can skip the next step.
It can be, that after the pink lines the Flash Tool will stop and nothing will happen then. If it keeps for one minute you have to unplug your device for 30 seconds and than just plug in again. NOTHING ELSE!!!
When the green lines appears, just wait till its finished. You'll see it, when the green circle appears:
Unplug your device and restart. Don't panik, its multilingual and your language will be there (for shure), just click on the rigt chinese words in the first window which appears and scroll up.
After that you can easiely update your tablet to 4.4.2 with the OTA
Happy flashing =)
Easy Root your 4.4.2 KitKat ROM
HOWTO Root your 4.4.2 ROM:
At first you have to know, whats behind all the followigng steps.
It is not that easy to root this device with KitKat (at least at the moment).
At first you have to install an app, which uses a hack and pushs a file in /system.
next you start the installed app (which is in /system now) and with this app (Kinguser) you'll have Root rights
most users dont believe in chinese root apps. So you have to install an another Rootapp, the best is SuperSU (link ist below)
After you allow SuperSU the root rights, you can just uninstall the other two apps and enjoy the happiness of beeing rooted
Click to collapse
Now let's beginn:
1. Just download and install this file: Root_genious_General.apk
2. It will install a small tool, which can root your tablet. And it installs "Kinguser"
. It will ask you, to update your ROOT(1.0.23) to ROOT (1.1.33). It will be in chinese, just chose the right button and allow to update this tool.
3. A circle will appear with "ROOT" in it. "Push" the button and magic will happen (a progress bar) An yellow window will appear, in chinese, but you'll see, if it was a success then you'll see Kinguser installed on your device. (if it don't works for the first time, just try it again)
4. After that you need to reboot your device and download and install "SuperSU" from PlayStore.
5. Install SuperSU and then Kinguser will aks you, if you will allow SuperSU root rights. Chose "Yes" and now you have the rootrights. IF IT DOESN'T you have to reboot your device several times (don't know why, I needed several reboots and then it worked)
NOTE: I don't really know why, but it seems, like Kinguser do not recognize, that it has root permissions at the first time. I had to turn off the permission in Kinguser options, restart and give Kinguser the root permissions again, than restart again. Just play a little arround with whis option of Kinguser. Somehow it will work than. I had to do the game twice, and it worked both times. But really don't know why.
6. After that you need to update your binaries in SuperSU and reboot your device.
7. Then you can uninstall both chinese APPs (Kanguser can just be uninstalled with Titanium Backup) and you are rooted then

I am not really shure, but I think its the step 6, what caused the problem. The drivers have to be installed manually, when you are plug in your device. it's not enough to "put" them somewhere. try to do this step by step, like i tried to translate
You open your device manager, turn your device OFF, plug it then on USB and than watch, when they appears a new device. very quick (you have 1-3 seconds I think), rightclick on it and than go to "Propperties", or "options" (dont really know what there is in your language ). then "Update your drivers" and then choose the drivers manually. I hope it will help.

Good evening.
as far as i know it is always a good idea to take the same build number,as you have. it can brick your device, because it could always be, that there are differences in the hardwre and also the drivers, between the builds.

The buildnumer is B6000, and the only other important thing is the "wifi" at the end. So take just this one:
[ROM] Yoga 8 B6000_A422_000_059_131219_WW_WIFI
All the numbers between, are just patch-versions of your b6000 wifi Tablet

Hello,
I am really sorry but I jujst can answer questions for my own device but i looked arround. as far as i can see, there is no stock rom to flash. I dont know if thats you, who postet this request in russian forum, but have a look there. The site admin will look, if he can find something [LINK]. Maybe he can find some help in chinese forums. Don't know, how he handle such requests.
You have a very special device number, build just without 3g for Ukraine, as I can see there. Hope, you'll find help there.
I've successfully installed the LiquidSmooth ROM on my Kindle Fire HD, so now I'm keen to update my Samsung Galaxy Y GT-S5360.
I've read this tutorial, which seems to be written for my level (newbie). However, when I switch my S5360 into USB Debugging Mode, Windows 7 64-bit can't find the drivers; Device Manager shows this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
It needs drivers for BCM21553-Thunderbird, CDC Abstract Control Model (ACM), and CDC ACM Data
Any suggestions?
Also, any comments on the above tutorial?
I'm doing it on a spare phone first, but I will need to backup my real one.
You need to install the USB drivers
You can find them on my firmware thread or type in Google Samsung USB drivers
Remember if on Windows 8.1 to install the driver setup in compatibility mode
Right click the setup
Select properties
Compatibility tab
Select run this programme in compatibility mode for
Select windows xp sp3 from the drop down box
Select apply
Run the setup
Also note there is no official KitKat for the galaxy y - only an unofficial cm11
Also I wouldn't follow those instructions
See the actual rom thread for instructions
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2766229
Please note it's a Dev only thread - for support see the support thread in the general section for cm11

Thanks for that. I'm a bit worried about "You must ensure that your phone is running the latest baseband available for your region, or else your device will not operate correctly when a SIM card is inserted..."
I got the drivers from http://developer.samsung.com/android/tools-sdks/Samsung-Andorid-USB-Driver-for-Windows as linked in "... @marcussmith2626's stock ROM thread". I hope this is correct.

That is correct - Install those USB drivers - you will need them to flash the latest baseband (modem file) in download mode via odin
You can download just the modem file or the entire stock rom firmware from my firmware thread
You only need to update the baseband so you just need modem files but if you want to revert to stock rom at a later date you will need the entire firmware

Through the power of Google
Search odin version 3.07
Modem files on the first post of my firmware thread - links to all my threads are below by clicking on the link in my signature or go direct to the top of the dev section where you will find the firmware thread

I had searched for Odin, but found various versions, including version 3.10. I worry about such things, so prefer a link from someone I trust.
Thanks, I found your firmware thread. I assume I should use the "Modem Only" files. I downloaded from the link, it contains four md5 files. Is this correct? I use my phone in the UK and in Spain, I think I should use MODEM_S5360_XXMK1.tar.md5 - yes?
BTW, the drivers worked, but I was expecting to see my phone appear as a drive?

Haven't got a link to Odin as such as I downloaded my version few years ago
I would assume this version would work fine
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1168421&d=1341114315
Yes just place one of the modem files in the phone section of Odin & flash it - Just follow the instructions on the thread but in this case you are only flashing the modem file
I suggest that as you are in Europe you use a modem file that begins XX (like the one you quoted)
Note that you can match the modem file to the firmware - in the firmware name it's the last lot of characters
Eg pda_csc_modem

Thank you. However, I still don't understand how to get the various files (CWM, new ROM, Gapps etc) onto the phone in the first place. I expected a new disk to appear in My Computer.

Start phone normally
Connect USB cable to pc
A notification will appear in phones status bar about USB storage
Select this notification
A window appears on phone
Depending on rom do one of the following
Press the button that says connect to pc
Or
Touch the logo of the droid to connect to pc
You will then see the drive in (my) computer on pc
Put the files like rom zip cwm & so on in the root of the sd card (this means not in any folder)
Note if using Windows 8.1 and you don't get the notification in the status bar when you plug in the USB cable & the phone only shows as charging see my thread about to connect to mass storage for Windows 8.1 (link in my signature)
Please note questions like this can easily be answered by the power of Google - please search next time

Nope.
PC makes USB chime, SAMSUNG Android Phone (SAMSUNG Android ADB Interface) appears in Device Manager.
Brand new phone, although I think it was previously rooted.

It should look like this (note I got these images from Google and it may look different on your phone)
Notification USB connected
When you click on notification
If you are using Windows 8.1 and you don't get the notification plug your phone into pc so it shows its charging then plug any other USB device you already have installed in (like a USB mouse) The notification should then appear on the phone
If not try different cable - use rear USB port if on pc & not front ones or hubs - reflash latest stock firmware via odin & test - try a different pc if possible

Thanks, but I don't get any of that on my spare phone, however my identical real phone works; I really want to test this on the spare. This isn't something to do with the spare phone not having a SIM is it?

Haha yes not having an sd card inserted would be a major problem if you are trying to copy something to it lol
You can either use the auto Google backup if you are signed in via a Google account & then restore them when you sign in again
Or use an app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.idea.backup.smscontacts
Pictures copy to pc
Apps use titanium backup (playstore)
Remember if you want to do something there is always (android version permitting) an app for it

I seem to have another problem now: Cyanogenmod boots, but hangs at the Welcome screen, asking for a language.
I think I'm going to give up, my only reason for doing all this was to clear some space in the phone memory, and delete some stock apps.

This can happen if you flash gapps before booting the phone for the first time after flashing the rom
Boot the rom first then go back into recovery & flash gapps
