Enjoyed my time, but... - Android Software Development

I haven't been on this forum too long or posted that much, but I have certainly come to respect it and all the people here. Very classy group of folks.
However, I'm switching my attention to iOS. Why? Good question. I'm unemployed and really need to get a job. My 13 year career at a university was limited to mostly COBOL mainframe work and PeopleSoft SQR. As such, I pretty much shoe-horned myself into a limited skill set; and there just aren't jobs out there for me. Trust me, I've been looking for a year and really don't want to relocate just yet.
I'm taking a gamble, but I have seen a few job postings for mobile developers and they seem to be leaning towards iPhone/iPad. So that's the direction I'm heading.
Now, I won't lose my skills as a Android developer and I won't abandon my Android development, but I'll probably devote 85% to iOS and 15% to Android.
Thanks to all here that have helped me and thanks to all for a great forum. I'll be watching you guys and check-in every so often. It's been fun

[Concept] Echo IM

(If this is posted in the wrong section, please move to the correct section for me :-(, Sorry and Thanks!)
(& I'm aware they're talking phones! 0 )
I made this concept because I was intrigued by how I would want a IM application to look like. It's not exactly finished but it's somewhat how I'd like my IM to feel. (It might be too dark) I love designing and well this is the result!
NOTICE:- Image heavy and must require a desktop browser, and it's very DARK!

I posted this over at Phandroid, but I wanted to share this design with the XDA community, since it's more developer orientated. I design purely in my free time and haven't took any classes for designing, but rather all self taught.
I'm very much loving the GUI there, beautiful.

Haha, thanks! The UI is sleek yet I wanted to make it seem house-styled, so everything wasn't out of place. I think I'll work on more of this concept since I thought it was very fun
If anyone has any ideas, than please shoot them, I'd love feedback and more things to design.
Here's the next preview!
This was purely just to mess around with animation.

A huge thank you to all the Dev's and anyone who helps educate newbies in here...

Hey there,
If you helped at all with helping the rest of us learn how to mod our Epic4g's. I just want to say...

!!!!!!!
I would have no IDEA how to do this without the awesome youtube walkthroughs, the great ROM chefs and everyone who takes time out of their day to help others like me figure this stuff out!
We (newbies) love you guys!!!!!
I have to 2nd this.... very noob person here. But from lurking for a while I have figured out a lot of stuff.
qbking77 how-to videos are a very good resource whenever you have trouble following written info in OPs and in the threads
Thanks
I also will drop a thanks in this thread. I appreciate it. I sometimes find that I am like alot of the people in here stuck with a phone for a couple years here and there and these Roms help me make the best out of it. Thanks.
Qbking77 is a solid guy. I've chatted with him in my extreme noob days and he just enjoys sharing info and spreading android cheer. Infact, I haven't had a bad experience here with any of our devs. They need to push sprint off the chair and take over because they rule!!
Sent from my MIUI Epicaladocious.
Same here, a huge thanks to all on this site and the ACS site!!!

Goodbye TRM, hello new Mod

I wanted to leave a final note to all of you wonderful G2/DZ owners (and those that are not so wonderful as well). I have been promoted to Senior Moderator and will no longer be in charge of the G2/DZ forum.
Don't worry though, since I do have a G2, you will still see me around here once in while, so no torturing the new mod or you will have me to deal with!
I do not think a new mod has been assigned yet so I will still be lurking, but once one does, I hope you all behave like adults and continue to keep the G2/DZ forums as clean as you have kept them for me.

congrats on your promotion and thanks for your services!
WOOHOO! A promotion! Congratulations!
Congratulations! Just don't bring over any banhappy mods.
senior moderator?! GZ
Congratulations! I don't say very much, but I have been extremely pleased with the quality you maintained on the G2 forums. Every once in a while I would get bored and check out G2 boards elsewhere and was always amazed by how cluttered and laze fair they were. It's mods like you that make XDA the force it has become. Thanks for all your time and effort.
Congrats trim
congratulations~
Thank You for all you have done!
Goodbye TRM
I can't bring myself to delete this thread, i mean it's TRM, so i think an unsticky and close will do.

[WIP][Announcement] Operation: Overkill

Well, time to announce this I guess.
Operation: Overkill
What:
A 3-D game based off of modern jet warfare. Objective is to bomb as many buildings and targets as possible without being shot down by the enemies arsenal of missiles, homing missiles, guns, and bombs.
Why:
Now maybe I am wrong, Ill be honest I didnt search very hard, but I have heard nothing of this type of game for android out there yet. iOS has some, so why not Andy?!
Other Info:
This has been a work in progress for around 5 months now and I have made some great leaps in the games progress, so much so that I am planning on releasing a public beta to XDA members only to help me work out some kinks and make the game perfect for the general public. ETA on the beta is unknown as of now. I am working hard to bring it ASAP though.

Article - Making an app survive in Android’s ocean

"As apps’ visibility becomes more and more difficult, app developers are working hard to make their apps stand out among thousands of new apps appearing every day. There is a big variety of articles out there on how to increase an app’s discoverability through ASO techniques, marketing campaigns and others. What is most important, though? Spend on ad marketing campaigns? Creating press releases, or dive into Google Play mechanisms to understand and position better an app on store? Anyone could argue that app developers should be doing all of that anyway…this is so true, but where should be their main focus?"

You may spend some money, if you have enough.
ASO is very important but you don't need too much time for writing text and improving it sometimes.
What you have to work hard with is your audience beyond Google Play. Demonstrate the app anywhere you can. Use social networks, SMM. People should notice you.
Well, that's what I think
