Hey XDA
maybe i'm a newb posting this thread and gets punched for it, but i searched around findin nothing worth it.
I am not alone with my question, cause many many others asking the same, they dont know anything about it and i just want to have some informations and sum them up in the first post here, so all can inform quickly about the nand kernels.
Beside MDJ S-series for Nand i didnt found anything else, Hastarin was really present in SD kernels, but i cant find a nand version.
I'm satisfied with MDJs kernel, cause i never had problems with it, they're smooth and fast so thanks at this point, but as MDJ never stated about EXTENDED BATTERY support, if he's about to inplementate or not, i'm looking for a up-to-date kernel as we're now in the Nand century, which supports extended batteries (htc official ones). It's too bad Hastarins kernel didnt get updated to Nand version, cause he released many versions of it (_eb _olcam _eb-olcam and normal).
anyone got further informations?
i'd really appreciate, as i'm about to buy such a battery the next few days if theres a working/supporting kernel.
thanks in advance.
*push*
anyone have an idea?
ive been having the same problems as ive just bought an official extended battery for mine. been using Mdj's cyanogen v2.6 until today as it doesn't support the EB. I'm now using NexusHD2-Froyo_V1.9a_NAND.7z with the Gscript kernel to get the EB to work. Hopefully the EB will be supported more widely as the HD2 really needs it!!

right, is there any way to get the EB supported by the Nand build by using such a Gscript? or will it just only work for your build? (NexusHD2-Froyo_V1.9a_NAND.7z)
come on there are so many NAND kernels in the custom roms built-in, as we can read in the thread title, but no stand-alone kernel update to use it with another build.. or they dont even say if EB is supported or not..
have to look for NexusHD2-Froyo_V1.9a_NAND.7z maybe I'll switch to this until EB is supported more widely
anyway thanks man, at least 1 reply
i found a kernel that supports EB battery, and it seems that it can be installed seperatly by CWM zip, my extended battery is ordered and should arrive the next 3 days, will report back

I try the kernel from tytung..
it seems not working..
keep restarting...
HD2ONE 6.1.1
I have tried tytung_r2_eb and it is working fine.
You can also try Crawling EB

Hello Mate,
For improved battery life, fast and stable ROM, I recommend you use Doc's Rom, you will get all of this, and no messing with your phone.
You can get Doc's ROM here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=817703
Note that you will find a Slim version and "normal" version, slim has been trimmed every app that is not absolutely indispensable, since you are new to custom ROMs, it is best to get the normal version.
And here you can find a nice tutorial on how to make a clean installation, I suggest you follow this guide when flashing any custom ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9728021&postcount=14527
This guide shows you how to instal Doc's Rom v4 based on JPU, the most recent version so far is v6.2 based on JPY, the installation process for both is the same anyways, you only need to follow the complete guide the first time you get a custom ROM, after this it is much easier to change ROMS
Good Luck!
Please ask any questions if you have doubts, we all here will be pleased to help you out.
There is no best ROM, it is up to you to find the ROM that you want.
You can use the latest stock ROMs or Custom Roms which are really just repackaged/optimized/improved/faster stock ROMs (Doc is most popular for these reasons).
These discussions are not beneficial to anyone at XDA. If you are too lazy to flash and find what you like, then you don't belong at XDA.
I'm afraid that "which ROM is best?" threads always end in disaster here at XDA, and there's no answers to be found here that can't be had by taking some time and doing some personal research on all the options that exist...the benefits and faults of each are already well-documented.

Hi all,
For everyone asking about custom roms ont 2.3.4 here is the situation :
For everyone who have upgraded the MS2 to the Official 2.3.4, no step back is possible to Froyo 2.2 or 2.2.2.
custom ROMs based on Froyo will not work (like CM7/9 from Tezet.)
=> Someone will have to build on based on the 2.3.4 kernel.
custom ROMs based on Chinese GB seems to work...
=> MS2Ginger for exemple.
custom ROMS based on Defy+ ROMs ?
So, who want that the CM or MIUI ROMs are ported to the newer Motorola kernel ? (So everyone could choose between BLUR, CM and others ?)
I say it on an other thread that the ms2ginger and the argen2stone roms are running on an ms2 with stock gb rom. Somebody must make an cm7 with the 2.3 kernel than wie can use customroms.
thanks for your thread.
But my question is, this official rom 2.3.4 does work better than froyo? or the custom rom 2.3.7 de CM7? It might be a dumb question or it's answered in another thread, if that case sorry.
Thanks
Yes i want Miui with the new kernel ! For a better touchsreen sensitivity for eg.
I try Argen2Stone 2.7 RE but i dont see adjust scrips and keep the old dialer from stock rom.
The 2.3.4 brings some bug fixes, and some upgrades.
From the kernel point of view, the same release is used (Linux Kernel 2.6.32.9). So no major bug fixes at kernel level for my point of view. Maybe some parameters changed.
The main point is for the "upgraders" to Gingerbread that can't go back to Froyo.

I tryed to flash MS2Ginger but the MS2 doesn't turn on.
I don't know.
could Anyone post how to flash step by step ?
tks
I think that the new kernel can improve MS2 performace so a rom based on the new kernel it's much better than the old modded rom.

I have the same idea...waiting for some MIUI or CM7 based on this new kernel.
I'd like someone who knows what they are doing to de-blur it. I have removed as much as I dare but still have too much moto... rubbish on the phone.
yeah agreed with u guys i wish a custom rom based on new gb 2.3.4

+1
or new FR
is true. I think it's time to leave the kernel of froyo that is old and start to compile with the new kernel brings improvements and is of GB!
GB kernel is in fact the same linux kernel version as froyo kernel, so there are not any improvements except for some minor patches.... So no reason to leave froyo.
I just don't get why you all guys updated to GB and then you all crying, you can't use custom roms and that froyo kernel is old and why gingerbread isn't used... GB kernel in custom roms isn't high priority in dev right now. Deal with it. GB kernel don't bring any valuable improvements, so only reason to leave froyo and get in GB are you all, who did that mistake and upgraded to official GB without even reading the forum here (because it was already written so many times there...).
No offense please, I'm just sayin' that GB kernel in custom roms don't have high priority, because of missing downgrade capability and because they don't bring nothing so exciting and big or valuable, nothing worth. So when dev update to GB, he can't go back to froyo - and this is quite big limitation...
Actually CM9 does work over Euro GB kernel. It is based on Chinese GB kernel. And I must say Tezet has made some really good progress with CM9.
And Defy ROMs based on Defy+ kernel have also been proved to work on Euro GB kernel.
These ROMs work if we remove devtree.img and boot.img from the update.zip and thus only flash system.
So I guess it is only a matter of time.

No crying here, just discussion, which is what the forum is for. What was your point?
may be it's better to find a way to downgrade.

I think I said my point clearly... But once again then:
I'm just sayin' that GB kernel in custom roms don't have high priority, because of missing downgrade capability and because they don't bring nothing so exciting and big or valuable, nothing worth. So when dev update to GB, he can't go back to froyo - and this is quite big limitation...
And don't take my words too personal. Easy man, easy...
Sometimes it's cool to have stock ROM. But,it will be much cooler if we can switch to custom ROM's. Stock ROMs are slower and less free RAM than CM7 or MIUI. Now,I'm getting bored with MS2Ginger2.1.
All we have to do is just wait..
hi, did anyone manage to overclock after updated to stock 2.3?
android overclock doesn't work anymore after i updated
Hey guys!
I am running CM7 Typhoon atm.. but I want to try ICS. Wondering if the builds are good/stable enough to be a daily driver? Is it worth upgrading now or wait till later?
Cheers
I think yes, but just for try it. ICS right now for HD2 is very unstable.
Yersterday we had got new version of Typhoon. I've been using it since I bought my HD2.
IMHO
i too am running the newest typhoon and am slightly interested in the new ICS builds. besides it being currently unstable, what other issues are there with ICS? I'M under the assumption that not all apps are compatible with it, or they dont fully function.
i'm all for waiting until everything is a little smoother, and i do follow the progress to an extent. i was just wondering about the current status of where is it now before i'd update.
Already on ICS
There are a few good options...
My requirement was a working camera. This took a little while but the Devs are great and I now have a good camera and working ICS CM9
I decided to try it with the SD build for TyTungs port of CM9.
Is it perfect, not yet, but I have not booted back to CM7 since I booted up CM9.
I am going to wait for one or two updated before going in with the NAND build but the SD build is great if you are using MAGLDR and can run the dual boot options.
Check out this forum for NAND details:

and this one for SD details:

Big Thanks to CyanogenMod and TyTung for all their work
Note: TyTung also was working on a AOSP version of ICS. I am note sure but it looks like he may have droped the AOSP in favour of CM9.
I relly like the CMx OS's and like CM7, CM9 has added CM functionality and options. You can see that CM9 is still being worked on in the menus in that there are a number of place holders in the menu, that do not yet have functionality, but the core ICS4.0.3 is working.
Good luck All,
To my mind there is no good enough ics rom(for today) for everyday's using.
Best was miui 4 works smooth, battery life is good but in my region rom doesn't see sim card...
Dev's have much work to do.
I would definitely suggest trying a SD rom first to get an idea of what it's like.
Dorimanx v7.3 is the best GB Kernel for HD2~^^
HD2 using GB and this Kernel is most appropriate.
Although we are using NativeSD now, Dorimanx Kernel also Faster, low Battery and Stable.
Unfortunately Wifi (original browser ) and BT wont work in NativeSD.
Some body said can't support haret?
We love Dorimanx v7.3, we love GB.
Would any brother mind help us to fix these issue ?
Let us can enjoy it until ours HD2 die......~haha ^.^
Grateful for your pay always been.
Some body said Dorimanx 7.2 can work in NSD,
can we replace one or a few files from 7.2 (or you gress)?
At less we can as close as possible from 7.3?
So far , I've tried out tytung's NexusHD2 ICS Rom (incredibly bad experience) and a few others , but I haven't seen any completely functional 4.x ROMs for the HD2.Most of them have a lot of bugs and I can't use Viber with them because the phone application crashes when I pick up the phone. So my question is this - is there any ROM based on 4.x that can match a 2.3 ROM in terms of performance and stability ?
I've been searching the forums for an answer but so far I haven't found one.I would be very grateful if someone could just point it out for me.
As far as I know, almost all HD2 ICS ROMs are fully functional (except for viber, it's a known issue).
And if you're having so many problems with tytung's ROMs, I don't know what else to recommend. (Not that this is the best, this is just the least buggy)
I have been using the SlimRom 8.0 on my HD2 since it came out and I have had the smoothest post-GingerBread experience with my phone.
Try it, I don't know about Viber because I don't use it.
I'm running it NativeSD on CLK with Extended TWRP.
