1. Do custom ringtones and notification sounds have to be of a certain quality? I'm dating myself here a bit but back in the cell phone days of modding there was a limit of kbps and size before a ringer would just choke a phone when ringing.
2. Where do custom ringtones and notifications go on the phone to show up in the settings? The notifications and ringtones are drawn from different folders I would imagine?

Hi everybody, does anyone know where i can download normal ringtones for my XDAII.
Not a fan of mp3 ringtones/music or the top 40 etc etc, just normal phone sounds that you would find on your normal mobile phones for either ringtone or sms tones.
Your replies are very very welcome
an mp3 or wav or wma can be anything a recording of a "normal" ring tone a guy yelling for you to pick up the phone
you can use any thing you like
midi is prob the media which comes closest to polyphonic ring tones
but there is no type which is used for the "normal" ringtones

Hello,
Is there a way of having a different tone for a new SMS and a different tone for a new Email recieved?
At the moment, all notifications sound the same, so you cannot distiguish between new email, sms etc, without looking at the phone.
Cheers,
Go to the relevant app e.g. gmail and then click menu and then change the notification sound to whatever you want...
You can set the sms sound in the sms settings, not for emails though so I guess emails use the default notification sound.
In Gmail menu > more > select ringtone
and you can change what appears in the list by creating folders for the notifications, then moving the sounds there
Problem with the phone is you can't have different tones for different people which is annoying.
You can have different ringtones for different contacts....
hello I'm in a little help on my wife's phone which is a my touch 3g 1.5mm i have put Cyg 6. stable it has been on the phone for almost a year now with no bugs or issues.
until now a few days ago it starting notification sounds when she got a text it will make 2 different sounds the sound of she's change to and the old sound. so I went and deleted all of her sound and ringtone music type apps. and thinking there was some kind of conflict. so now we try to change notification sound no matter what you select when she gets text there's no sound but notification sounds do play for voicemails and emails and such. any help.
try it in the settings of the sms application. there should be an option.
So after the latest update I now get audible notifications for everything... emails, text messages, facebook updates, you name it. Driving me mad! I just want text messages to have an audible alert. I looked under the settings for each account and under the audio piece and I can't figure how to change it. Someone please point me in the right direction
Go into the each of the apps that have notifications and change the ringtone for it to silent. Such as gmail or email or whatever Silent should be the second ringtone in the list after Default Ringtone.
What about the Low Battery warning ? How do I turn that off ?
I get my phone ringtone and it is a pain in the a*se. I was even on a call and all of a sudden I am listening to my phone ringtone going off at the same time.
It seems that this phone or motoblow is missing the defaut notification of "silent" anyone know how to enable this? It is a pia going into every app, to set it to silent. Thanks -Mike

You can dump mp3s to sdcard/notification folder, then change notification sound as usual.
My text app has a way to use a separate alert tone, other than what the system has set. Some apps allow a different tone for different contacts, but I don't go that far. If you don't have any you like, any MP3 will work or you can use Zedge from the playstore and search for text tones or SMS tones.
I installed this app which allows you to set custom wav/mp3 as notifications and ringtones. Really simplifies the process (has worked on S4/HTC M9 and now 6P.

How do you find the file folders to move it add the files? I'm kind of a tech dummy... Do I need to download a file manager app, or am II just to dumb to find one already on the phone? Lol!
