App Inventor and Twitter - Android Software Development

I thought i'd give app inventor a shot, and play around using its twitter functionality.
I have the authorize block in, and as far as i know thats supposed to pop up a twitter authorization page to all the app to access twitter. My probem: It doesnt.
I have both codes in (consumer and secret) and to be frank dont know what i;m doing wrong. Anyone have any pointers?

Just found out since implementing oauth the twitter functionality no longer works. Hmmmm

Myspace App

Does anyone know or can make an official myspace app. Something similar 2 the facebook and twitter apps would be great
This has been answered a million times. Take a look at here
hahahaha, know what's funny about that article,
that was a week after I finally got through to myspace asking if they have a windows mobile app and one that will allow syncing of the pictures like facebook,
I kept dissing myspace saying they're being left behind in facebook's dust and they just kept saying no there isn't an app,but then i asked if they would allow me to create one,
or if they could point me to the person that could give me such permission,
and then they go and decide to make one. hahahahahaha.

VZW TP2 Facebook App

So i just got my TP2 today and it says on Verizon's site, "Fast access to Youtube and Facebook", however I see no facebook app on the phone. I guess I could install the app on my own, but I would have thought it would have already been on the phone being it's listed as a feature included on the phone according to there site. Anyone else on Verizon not have the FB app or am I missing something?
if you go to the People tab & select All People there will be an Updates & Events tab where you can link your FB account to the phone. That's what they're talking about

So it will just sync peoples contact info like phone numbers and stuff and import them to my contacts on my phone? Sounds like I will still need to install the actual facebook app then.
MS Free Facebook App
Microsoft has a free one on their mobile site. Just put as a link on your start page and you're good to go.

Facebook opens mobile site instead of touch

I had this issue on my myTouch as well but when I get an email from facebook saying someone has commented on a post I made or something similar and I click it I get sent to the ugly mobile site and it just loads the live feed not the actual post. I just wanted to know if there was any fix for this or if it could load the touch site instead (or even better the app) so I don't have to wait to go to my desktop or look though posts in the app since the notifications don't work on the Nexus One yet.
Yeah mine does it sporadically. I haven't used it for a couple of days but maybe it has to be in the current processes list/ list of current applications for it to recognise it, else it opens the browser. Just a suggestion.
The whole notification thing really irritates me. You'd think since it comes with the phone, they would at least check that it works ¬¬
Well the web address sent to you in your email is from facebook.com and it is a http link to the full web site, facebook doesn't know that you're viewing this from your phone. gmail/email on the phone is going to treat these links the same, there's nothing built into the formatting or platform to make these 'special'.
I would recommend you disable email notifications on facebook, and configure notifications within the facebook app. This should get you the behavior you desire.
Ok so since i've fixed my facebook notification issue I actually hate the facebook app. Seriously, what app shows a notification which you have to open via an external link? I thought that was the point of the app? The facebook mobile website is atrocious, and i'd actually prefer to open it in web view rather than mobile view, since that's the point of a smartphone.
I hate to bring it up but even the iPhone did a better job. Almost everything could be done through the app. Almost.
that aint the phones fault its the app developers lol

To anyone having some problems, the best workaround I can find is using Dolphin Browser and changing the User Agent to iPhone. This will automatically pull up touch.facebook.com

Twitter dead on Timescape?

My Twitter died on Timescape after Oauth change... anybody else with the same problem?
Over the coming weeks, we will be making two important updates that will impact how you interact with Twitter applications. We are sending this notice to all Twitter users to make sure you are aware of these changes.
What are applications?
There are over 250,000 applications built using the Twitter API. To use most applications, you first authorize the application to access your Twitter account, after which you can use it to read and post Tweets, discover new users and more. Applications come in many varieties, including desktop applications like TweetDeck, Seesmic, or EchoFon, websites such as TweetMeme, fflick, or Topsy, or mobile applications such as Twitter for iPhone, Twitter for Blackberry, or Foursquare.
Update 1: New authorization rules for applications
Starting August 31, all applications will be required to use “OAuth” to access your Twitter account.
What's OAuth?
OAuth is a technology that enables applications to access Twitter on your behalf with your approval without asking you directly for your password.
Desktop and mobile applications may still ask for your password once, but after that request, they are required to use OAuth in order to access your timeline or allow you to tweet.
What does this mean for me?
Applications are no longer allowed to store your password.
If you change your password, the applications will continue to work.
Some applications you have been using may require you to reauthorize them or may stop functioning at the time of this change.
All applications you have authorized will be listed at http://twitter.com/settings/connections.
You can revoke access to any application at any time from the list.

Wait for update from se. It will take some time.

I bet SE has already taken care of this in recent updates which they have been releasing but your carrier has not. They should have one updates for all the regions.
SE: lets make things complicated.
Recently I changed my username and password on Twitter and my TimeScape can't login to Twitter anymore. It keeps giving the message invalid username/password which is not right. The Twitter app I downloaded works fine with my new information.
I tried logging from TimeScape both with username and email id and get the same problem. Any help?
How well does timescape work for you guys?
I only ask because it has never done a single thing for me, and I have tried to get it to do something many times.

It doesn't automatically update for me, even though I had it set to fetch every hour, so stopped using it.

Not sure what you mean by broken. I have it loaded and can browse around without issue although it is clearly not designed for tablets. I have also not posted anything using the app but can verify that it does install and can browse without a problem.
Won't Sync
I cannot get Facebook to sync. Anyone else have this problem? Application seems to work otherwise.

What do you mean by sync? Like the phone, add it to Accounts and Sync in the tablet settings? It is not showing for me here as it does on my phone. I do not think that will work until we get a Honeycomb version.
EDIT: Actually it does show when trying to "add account" but does nothing.
I can't use the FB widget. It's FCs on me when I drag it over to a screen.
As for FB/Google integration... there appears to be a fight between Facebook and Google. I guess Google patched up some type of exploit that FB was using to merge/link contacts. It's fine for HTC, TouchWiz, MotoBlur... but not with a direct Google experience device.
Just search Google for more info on this. I read only a paragraph or so and got bored of the politics behind it.
If I remember correctly, facebook is now blocking google from exporting numbers/pictures status's.
This was on the news somewhere

It still works on my Samsung Captivate though.
Same as others.. Can load the app and use it however trying to add an account to sych friends, as I've done on my D1 Droid, it blinks then does nothing. After doing this I've found occasionally the actual app then crashes, even with reboot, and must be re-installed to get it back.
I'm sure a native Honeycomb version will arrive in due time.. For now I'm just using TweetDeck which works great for various accounts including: Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, etc.
