Have you tried going out of the house? The reception is pretty bad, especially if you live in a badly covered area.
Try with other headphones too, they're the FM antenna.
Well, coverage in my area is fine. Radio worked fine in winmo. I dont mind too much giving it up but it was nice at the gym (they broadcast the tv audio over short range fm). Oh well...

Try another rom, it'll probably work. MIUI developed the (custom) radio framework, so I guess your best shot is a MIUI rom. I know my CM7 radio works fine too though.
switch stations and back again.
on mine (cyano mod) when i start the radio, and bluetooth enables (dont know why it should, id rather it didnt) the station comes on but static, switch to different preset and back again and it comes through clear. (Well as clear as can be expected with teh worlds worst fm radio)
My suspicion is the radio blast of interference as the bluetooth fires up.

hi all after plugging in headphones to my htc hd2 i find the default htc radio not get a very good signal at all, my older omnia1 got a great signal all the time but this ones iffy as hell, will installing another radio app work any better or is it juts a **** radio reciver built in
i live in Nottingham, uk and have tested the stock htc headphones, shure se310 and also the big sennheisers hd595
are there even other apps compatible with the FM hardware
emmm i tought all apps were compatible with all fm radios ?? am i wrong to think this
Hello, I am Italian. those of you who have problems with the FM radio?scanning stations, does not work, I have to do manual
im in uk and im lucky if i can even get a signal for any station, this is the worst device ive used for the fm radio, tobad as the rest of phone is great
understand, then it is not just a problem of my device, hopefully in an update radio
(sorry my english)
+1
The FM radio is really bad on the HD2 (whereas it was good on the HD). Many problems on my French ROM.
The best thing to do is to report this specific bug to the HTC support here:
http://www.htc.com/www/CS_Mail.aspx
same problem here......italian rom......
uk... no problem at all, get every single station
I had the same problem and I solved it.
The solution is to use the orginal headphones. I don't know exactly which is the difference but try it and you will see.....
gets better with the original headphones, but did not receive the same touch-pro2
Hi,
compared to my Xperia the HD2 has a very very bad FM radio. Xperia gets about 15-20 radiostations, HD2 only one!

with which headphones, ive tried senhz hd595 + shure se210 + shure se310
The radio on HD is fine, but on HD2 the radio sometimes receives very good signal, sometimes completely dead. And for me it does not matter what headphone I use.
Hello
am still have this problem with all cooked rom, and don't know if is there any update for FM Radio software, currently have version 2.5 build 1919.4027
I am at Portugal, and have WP7.
Not catching any stations, i had a stupid idea. First loaded Zune and listened to music for a few seconds, then changed it to radio. Worked!
Noticed that on both the hd2 and the hd the reception on the fm radio seems very weak compared with other devices I've had.
It struggles to receive most of the stations I listen to which are very strong for instance in the car, whereas when I had an Omnia that used to pick up most stations really well. Even my old XDA Orbit had a more sensitive radio than the HD/HD2!!
Is there any way to improve this? I don't mean things like using a longer headphone cable, but anything in terms of software/settings?
I had an app for the HD called powerradio but it doesn't work on the HD2
BsB tweaks have some option to improve radio. However I don't know what exactly it does and what it improves.
This is more of an FYI post than anything else; ifixit tore down the Atrix this morning and it was detemined that it contains the Broadcom BCM4329 wifi/bluetooth chipset; which DOES include FM radio with RDS.

So it is there, think it will be enabled with an update like I heard the Droid X did?
Man I really hope so. This is a no brainer.
Who cares? Radio Zzzzzz that's why Pandora etc. exists. FM is lame, crap quality and commercial bloated.
Any added feature is welcome and there are people who like to listen to radio DJs and talk shows.
yeah i love the local morning radio here and would like the fm app since its not listed on tunein
I care. Not necessarily for listening to Top 40 radio, but getting local traffic, weather, emergency information without having to rely on Internet access through ATT. Second, my local gym broadcasts TV sound over FM.
According to the Broadcom specs. this chip can also transmit over FM (perhaps to car FM for listening to stored music?). So why waste a bunch of $ for a clunky FM transmitter when it's built right in to the phone?
Somebody out there must have the technical prowess to figure it out.

Most people don't care about listening *TO* FM radio...it's about broadcasting *ON* FM radio. The ability to broadcast your music over FM means you could play music in your car without plugging it in or using bluetooth.
Looking at how at&t went far and beyond to cripple this phone, i doubt they will enable anything on it.
Disable more features with the upcoming update is more likely.
Install Tunein radio. Most stations stream over the internet and this app makes it nice and simple to grab these radio stations.

Thank you for your suggestion, but I already have Tunein Radio, however there are some stations which I like to listen to which are not available on that app. Also, where I live, Internet Access comes and goes so I cannot do my walk/run without constant interruption with Tunein Radio.
Hopefully there will be some sore of remedy soon like what they have done with other Motorola phones.
Ridiculous that FM isn't enabled. I bought mine a week ago and just assumed it had FM since my last 3 phones had it. Never thought it wouldn't so didn't check! I've got an awesome local station called The Current that I can't live without and really don't care to risk data overage charges just to listen to it on my phone. Silly ATT.
Well not everyone uses Atrix on AT&T. I use Simple Mobile, which is on T-Mobile, and can only use EDGE. So FM receiver are very welcome (also transmitter).
I'll use my example here: Also Atrix was just made available in Thailand where Internet radio is really unpopular. Although that there are several 3G providers in Thailand, the quality and consistency are on the low par. More than that, the 3G coverage is very limited. On the other hand, traditional FM radio is very very common and popular across the country so phones without FM capabilities are the first to be easily cut off from the customer's choices.
i should mention that the bcm4329 also has inbuilt fm TRANSMITTER ability which ive never seen enabled on any device as yet though
the atrix doesnt have an RF chip and an antenna for the FM radio, so it FM radio is quite surely not doable as such
the fm is part of the bcm4329 module, and the antenna is usually the headphones
it makes me angry that this phone has so many features that cant even be used
You can use TuneIn radio....

What else is there that can't be used?
The locked bootloader isn't really a disabled feature, it's just a locked gateway into the development of more efficient ROMS.
I assume he is talking about the hdmi webtop that is disabled unless you buy the expensive dock.
the tvs at my gym broadcast on fm, id appreciate this considering i still cant use netflix so im formatting and adding/deleting tv shows to watch on the treadmill every couple of days now
Has anyone got a working FM radio on the HTC HD2? I have tried the spirit radio but reception is terrible, now what I don't know is it a poor FM receiver ib the phone or is it just spirit that doesn't work with this phone.
