[Q] Carrier unlock andriod and wm 6.5 - HD2 General

hello I have been searching the web for a little while now and find it hard to believe there is NO possible way around carrier unlocking a tmobile hd2. Is the only possible way to get the code from tmobile? even if andriod is used?
just seems wierd maybe someone can explain it to me why its impossible if we control the radio versions, roms, totally different software like andriod ...im just stumped. I dont want to wait to use my phone.

Bumpppppppppppppppppppppppp

The only way to do it is with the unlock code.
As you said, you can either get this from your provider (possibly), or you can google it and use a paid online service. Be wary though, and look for customer reviews before shelling out. There's some dodgy ones.
Good luck

I had the same question i was looking to see if there was a software unlock. Since they said once you HardSPL would do it but people said it didnt work.

HSPL means you can flash any ROM onto the device. It unlocks it in that manner, not in the Network manner. You'll still need a code to do that (as well as a SIM chip from another provider).

For those with UNLOCKED WING

Ok. This is a request to everyone that has an unlocked t-mobile wing. I have a wing and I have been looking at attempting to find a free solution for sim-unlocking this device. Now the only other device I know about with a good unlock solution was the wizard, and that was a wonderful unlock solution. There are two ways currently I have been looking at for the unlock. First tear apart every part of the SPL/IPL until I can find the section related to the sim and its restrictions. The second which has to be possible but maybe more difficult would be to determine the relation between IMEI and sim restriction code. I have looked into this before on other devices and have found no matter how slight there is always some relation. While I go over the ROM I want to ask anyone who has unlocked their WING using an unlock code to send me a copy of your IMEI and the sim unlock code you used. I hope if I can get enough codes and IMEIs then I may be able to come up with a pattern for how they are generated and test it.
Last thing. I have heard which I have not yet tested since I want to keep my WING factory stock so I can have a good test environment for working with the device, that some people have unlocked their devices by flashing the stock HTC branded ROM to their device. If this has worked for you I would like to know which ROM you used and your current IPL/SPL versions and your previous IPL/SPL versions.
I know this is a lot to ask but here is to hoping for freedom for our Heralds.

Why not just call t-mobile and have it unlocked for free?
Because he wants to come up with a free solution.. I may call T-Mo and get a subsidy code and send it to ya.. look for my PM later this week.
Just Got the Code from T-Mobile
I called T-Mobile yesterday, asked them to unlock my Wing. They took my phone info (IMEI) and today I got an email with the unlock code. Just put in a Cingular Sim put the code and ready to go. the best way to do it. I also have a T-mobile MDA and because I was willing to do testing with this device I used the steps to unlocked in Wizards forums. It worked excellent...
Just call T-mobile...The best way to go.
Hi!
Can You help me with unlocking code?
I will appreciate very much!
Not everyone buys their wings from T-Mobile. I would assume that's why he's interested in creating a way to unlock them.
This is what you do. Pick someone you know who has service from T-Mobile. It does not matter what kind of phone he/she is using. Have them call T-Mobile and say that they are planning on going overseas and would like to unlock their phone. They will ask for the IMEI number and an email address. Give them the WING's IMEI number and in about 24-48 hours they will send the unlock info to the email address. Worked for me and I hope it works for you.

{Q} HTC HD2 unlock

I was wondering if there is a program or spl to unlock the phone so i can use it for at&t
No, buy a code or ask t mobile.
Where can we buy the code? I have tried like 3 different vendors (offline) but none of them have been able to get the unlock code. I read somewhere that the latest HD2s are coming with a new Series and it is hard to find the unlock codes for them. Is it true?

I did it twice with this guy. http://www.htccode.com/
First time when it was new $15, and second time with a new motherboard replacement. It had the new IMEI, but he was able to do it still. I think it cost an extra $10 because of new database, but it was worth it for me.
His site has you download a program. I was not able to get that working because I was paying with PayPal, but he walked me through it on the Live Chat window in about 5 mins. Both times, VERY quick, and very easy. Nice to deal with.
Hi. I have a problem. I have the unlock code from T-Mobile and I use it to unlock my phone (I had the shipping ROM 2.10.531.1) and after that I updated my ROM to 2.13.531.1 and now the phone is locked again and the code is not working. What can I do? Thanks
By flashing a new ROM your device should not have re-locked itself as far as I know. Try going back to 2.10 and see if it is indeed unlocked, or just slap your SIM in the phone as it is, cancel the SIM unlock and see if it can dial out without entering the code. If it can, just ignore the prompt and use the device as normal. This used to happen on the Wizard, phantom "relocks" but if you just ignored 'em all was like normal. I do not know if it works with the HD2 aswell but I suppose it is worth a try!
I myself SIM unlocked my US HD2 and have flashed several ROMs includeing stock ones and have never had my device re-lock on me.
Yea but the problem is that I don't have anymore the version 2.10 and beside that today I put an AT&T sim and the phone said that the sim is missing :-?

Try a hard reset.
Is the phone not asking you to enter any code?
I tried hard reset, but is not working and is not asking me for code. I just have in start menu a prog called SIM App. and there it ask the code but when I put the code it say that is wrong even if the first time with 2.10 ROM it worked. I spoke with T-Mobile and they don't know or don't want to tell me because I'm not their customer. Nobody have the original 2.10? the one that is shipped with the phone?

[Q] Are our phones carrier unlocked?

May seem like a silly question, but I was curious.. After our phones have been completely modded.. windows mobile is out the door, magldr good to go.. cwm loaded.. new fresh complete NAND rom..
are our phones still locked to a carrier?
Theoretically I wouldn't think they would be "locked", but I wanted to verify.

Yes, it is still locked. The carrier looks at your phone via the assigned IMEI number. If you want to unlock your phone, contact your carrier for the unlock code.
Understood.
What would be the method of unlocking? Generally if you were in windows mobile there would be some way of getting to the screen in order to put that unlock code in.
How do we achieve this on our Android HD2's?

I would think the easiest way to find out would be to put in a different carriers sim card and see what happens. Im not sure what the sim unlock procedure is on Android phones but I would think its pretty similar to Windows Mobile. Failing that just backup your Android Rom with CWM and flash WinMo to unlock, then reflash Magldr and CWM and restore your Android Rom again.
Mark.

Technically, yes the phone us unlocked to flash different OS's, but not unlocked/jail-broken to use with other carriers. The phones software/OS has nothing to do with the OEMI being locked.
I had to deal with getting my HD2 unlocked yesterday for AT&T. As soon as you insert the sim into the phone, a grey box appears asking for the, "Network OEMI number". It also gives you the choice of bypassing the password screen, but you won't be able to use the phone/data.
You have a couple of options to get the password. One is to call Tmobile, and they'll email you the password within 24 hours. No matter what, they won't give you this number over the phone. Tmobile has stipulations on who they will/won't give the password to.
Your second option is finding one of the many companies that sell OEMI numbers. The cheapest I've found is 15.oo, and the most expensive is 39.00. If you're in the states, you can probably find someone local on Craigslist that can supply you with the number.
Ah yea, they can purchase very expensive software that generates the numbers, which is why they charge.
I've gotten a number from AT&T before and it was done over the phone.. I simply said I was going away to college over sea's and would be returning later only to (lying of course), return to their company.. so they were more than happy to keep me a "satisfied customer"..
I will more than likely end up calling T-mobile for the number.
Thanks for all of the quick and informative replies, hopefully these help others curious as well.
I was able to find one off ebay that did it for 8 bucks.. so try searching there too....
Like the above poster said if you are a tmobile usa customer you can request the code free if your account is in good standing..

[Q] Looking for clarification - sim-unlock

So i was recently given an HTC surround to try my hands at, after years of working with blackberry and iphone, and im finding this to be just a tad confusing as far as the language is concerned. The surround is currently locked to ATT and i would like to be able to use my t-mobile with it, however when looking for "unlocking" or any similar term, all i see is mass use of the word unlock for several things that don't actually remove the sim/carrier lock.
I have looked at some of the threads about flashing roms, and it seems like this would take care of the unlock, but i am not able to find a clear "how-to" on flashing roms......
I have successfully unlocked the device for homebrew apps (using wp7chevron) however, that does not remove the sim lock (as im sure everyone else knew, lol). Any help or pointing me to a guide/page that would assisst me in doing this would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking forward to trying my hand at something new to tinker with...
you will need the IMEI code which you can get by going to the phone and dialing *#06#
then call ATT and tell them you want the unlock code, odds are they will have no clue as to what you are saying but keep talking to them and eventually they will get it and give you the code.
if they refuse you will have to pay some website to send you the code
I do not think there is any other way to unlock the surround right now.

[Q] ROM Update ended up with Error:294

I know that there are lots of similar topics here, but as far as I searched no one could solve my problem.
I have a HTC HD mini registered for Inidia but I wanna install a GCC (Arabic) Rom on it.
I already have tested "DFT_SSPL_MINI" with official and shipped Roms and also the method "Update from SD memory card" but after each one I ended up with the Error:294 invalid vendor ID.
Does anybody know the solution? I saw some guys with similar problem had successfully changed their Roms by "DFT_SSPL_MINI" but I don't know what is wrong with my phone.
Still no reply?
is your phone carrier locked?( I guess so...)
How can I find that? My phone carrier is MTN
Does it really a matter of phone carrier? I thought it should be due to a software issue of my phone.
If you bought the phone from a GSM provider and you enagaged in a monthly subscription that means your phone is carrier locked and you can update the ROM only from their site!
Yes,it does matter since the phones will have CID(Carrier ID) locked!
Example:
"CID: Carrier Id - commonly used in the form `CID-Unlocking`. If you purchase your phone (example) from Qtek (Qtek is the 'carrier'), your phone will only accept Qtek ROMs (the carrier's ROMs). If you want to flash ROMs from other carrier, you'll need to CID-unlock your phone, so that your phone will accept other ROMs. Note: In general, the phrase 'unlock your phone' usually refers to SIM-unlock, not CID unlock."
Thank you for the information
But how to CID unlock? as I said in my above post I've already used the DFT_SSPL but with no result and getting the same error. Some guys say that the sspl ignores CID check and thus you can flash a custom rom on your phone but for me it didn't have any benefits.
Do you have any other ideas for me?
then u better ask who says that,i don't buy phones from carriers so i don't know much
you know guys, in where i live, when you decide to buy a phone you should only go to a shopping center and choose something looking good and affordable and nobody cares about the carriers, cause there is no carrier in there, and after buying you'll be encountered it is merely a garbage. It's confusing for me, I paid a lot of money for a phone and there is no way to change the software, why? It's only a software, I have the hardware in my hand. why is it such a complicated problem for hackers who hack everything?

well..if you or nobody from your country doesn't care about the carriers then live with the consequences
Windows Mobile is an OS,not a software and no,it is not complicated for hackers or developers to unlock this, they are just not interested in this phone.
there are tools which unlocks CID,try www.google.com or xda search function for further references.

only solution is to make gold card and install completely rom (including radio), but to do an gold card you must to buy revskills software -> http://revskills.de
With dft sspl you are not able to install radio becouse that feature is disabled for possibly device brick but with gold card you are abble installing everything!
Curently I testing an s-off and super cid for htc hd2 and I have success in super ciding hd2 but some problems in s-offing (it go to s-off but I am lost in nand chip becouse flashing is not possible after s-off) but I think photon and hd2 have something similar about that feature and if I done it for hd2 I will try to explain how to do it for photon... I think I will done it after we have working android nand or maybe if you found jtag pins for photon (I will try to do it by jtag)
Thanks Munjeni, for your helpful answer. I hope you to be succeed. If you came up with any results please keep me informed.
I'll try some Gold Carding...

Can we find out, whether the device we've CID unlocked or not before we change the ROM?
