I recently got this as my first android phone. My friend convinced me to perma-root this phone and I did. I now have CyanogenMod 7. However, a few things are bothering me. My calender is not syncing up correctly for some reason, and my contacts book looks so much more dull without the facebook links and their statuses under their names, as it did with the original interface/operating system I was using (stock that was loaded with HTC stuff).
Are there any apps that compensate or do the same thing as that friend linker?

Assuming you mean linking you calendar with Gmail, this is a known issue. Go to settings, applications, all, Gmail, then clear data. You wont lose your emails as they're in the cloud and it should remedy your problem.

Link your Facebook account under accounts then go to contacts -> settings -> display options then click show the fb contacts.

I have my contacts synced along with pictures for those contacts, main ones are on linked to google and other pics are linked from facebook. I can see all of the pics in contacts, but none in the messaging app. It was working fine until I installed shapewriter, but I have since uninstalled that app and none of the pics are showing. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks.
Mine does that until I go to the contacts app. It seems like my contacts have to refresh before pics show up in the messaging app.

Notxel posted a fix for that in the Iced Glacier thread that worked for me. If you go into application management, click all, find contacts and contact storage, clear data in both, then after your phone really syncs, it should be fixed. Hope this helps...

worked for me too, except after i got my facebook account to finally link to my contact card, all the contacts in my messages decided to unlink themselves from their respective facebook accounts... Re-linked them and all is well... weird
I set up an account with Facebook for HTC Sense. The problem is, that neither the calendar is being synched with birthdays and events nor the "People".
But when I login to facebook through the normal app the "Facebook Contacts" folder is updated. (But not "People").
Also when I make a status through FriendStream it shows 'via HTC Sense' and while doing so on the normal app it shows 'via Android'.
Regarding the calendar I have changed the settings to show the FB calendar but nothing turns up. Same in the People when I go to 'Online Directories' it shows zero friends and does not refresh.
I have factory resetted the phone using two variations.
When the screen for setting up a social account comes , i ignore it and the other one is that i accept it (Thus creating a 'FB for HTC Sense' account)
But nothing works
I am rooted with 2.2 , latest build 3.15 on the ROM - 'Superuser, Keep it Simple' -

From what I heard, the geniuses at fb decided to block syncing that sorta info, not just for google. The app market just hasn't caught up yet..

Try asking a good friend to temporarily remove them (from both parties) and adding them again.
Now use the Sync All button (Sense widget) in Sense, or use Synker (make sure Facebook sync is checked).
Now see if that friend, that single, lone friend, is showing up in Online Directories, or whathaveyou.
If it works, it's probably some cache error, same with what I have, and it's super annoying.
Okay when I had my Dream which was rooted and flashed to FAT182, I was able to sync my facebook contacts to my contact list...
With the 2.2.1 mytouch 3g by HTC there isn't even an option in the facebook app to upload contact list... I tried to find a different version or type of facebook app, I can't figure it out, thank you much appreciated.

Once you have the Facebook app installed, you go to account management under the general phone settings and you can add your Facebook account there. Then you will get the option to sync contacts.

i purchased a mytouch 3g 3.5mm but when i click the facebook to add as a new account i goes back to the add account screen is there any reason why this is happening to me? thanks in advance
I am currently on cm7 rc3 and before I downloaded this I had all my contacts linked to facebook but now when I go to my contacts it shows notes next to there name something like <htc data><facebook>id and alot of numbers. I have tried photo unlocker even dialer one but still does not give me the option to link contacts I also do have the facebook app. In my phone and did the sync setting with facebook and still nothing. When I used photo unlocker it did unlock about 3 contacts pics and facebook info. I just liked seeing all my facebook pics in phone book has anyone else ran into this problem and been able to fix it.

Not sure how well this would work being CM7 doesn't have HTC Sence but you could try installing the "Facebook for mytouch 1.0" apk thats in the stock T-Mo ROM i know thats the APP for stock that updates the linked contacts. Just make your you backup your everything in case it screw up your rom
Thanks a lot but I downloaded Easy sync and it worked great for syncing my facebook contact's it's a paid app but it was well worth it.
Hi guys, first time poster, long time admirer (used to be stuck in the blackberry age). Anyway, I just rooted and installed gingerblur on my AT&T atrix 4g and I love it. However, I currently have a problem with it.
So the moto blur accounts are still present (intended i think?), and the facebook motoblur account I have active syncs the pictures to my contacts just fine, but when I open up the test messaging app, the picture for the contacts are blank? I tried deactivating the motoblur fb account, and just installing the fb app from the market to see if I could do it through that. But it seems like there is a whole list of options cut out of it, and there is no option to sync photos. It seems like the google contacts is not syncing with the motoblur fb account for some reason?
Has anyone run into/fixed this problem? Thanks for all the good work and help.
P.S.- I would have posted this in the Gingerblur post but I can't since I'm such a newb.

I never figured this out either. So I actually reactivated the old messaging that came with blur (it's in the GingerBlur thread somewhere), and that got it back. Kinda liked the speech bubbles anyway.
Ok so I guess I found a solution for all that are having this problem. I downloaded an app call syncmypix. Its free and pushes your Facebook freinds pictures to your Google account contacts, which in turn displays them on ur messaging app. Idk but something about the contacts is screwed up in this rom.

its the messaging.apk file on this rom you can pull the one from greyblur or just use an app to manage your SMS such as hancentSMS or i heard chompSMS also works
AFAIK google disallows facebook to intergrate with messaging and co. with gingerbread. As the gingerblur messaging apk is from gingerbread (as far as i know) it cant do its wizardry. Could be wrong though

Ohhh that makes so much sense now. I was so confused as to why the contacts would sync with the pictures and the messaging wouldn't. I'm glad I found that app then.
However I think on stock android gb devices, the fb app can sync the pictures, but since motoblur includes this in their accounts it screws everything up.
