txt notifications - Fascinate General

It seems that whenever I receive a txt message, my fascinate actually triggers 2 notifications. One being the normal green New Message notification, the other appears to be a white envelope, which I can only assume is also a New Message notification.

I was wondering if there was any way I can get the phone setup to only see/receive one or the other and not both. My reason for concern of this is that I have notification sounds enabled, however due to the amount of txt messages I get I have disabled the notifications within the messaging client. With both of these notifications being displayed, one of the sounds is still coming through. It may be something within the ROM/Theme I'm using but I can't recall if I had the problem before or not. I've been on Super Dark for a while now, originally the full DJ05 ROM and now the DJ05 Theme on DL09 (as shown in my sig).
I'm hoping someone can help me with this. Thanks in advance.

What apps are you running for sms popups or just sms related in general ????

I have the same problem with Handcent, tried everything the only thing that worked was turning off notifications for the stock MMS.

I'm not running any special sms apps or anything, just what was built into adrynalyne's DL09 release, which appears to be the stock samsung sms stuff cause I really don't like the bubble stuff.

Could you have restored an app that you forgot about like missed call? That's not built into samsung ROM.

I just went through all of my apps and the only thing I have installed related to SMS/MMS is SMS Backup & Restore. I really don't see anything else that may pertain to this issue, unless somehow TouchDown may be picking up the messages too, but it's only configured for my Exchange server.

Weird Text Message format with WM6.1

I recently upgraded to WM6.1 with the Bepe 0.55 ROM. Everything seems to work fine after the update, definitely some speed improvements which is great.
But now I noticed a strange thing is going on with my text messaging inbox. It doesn't show a 'normal text' message anymore, but instead it shows some weird 'Conversation With' screen. Anyone knows how to get back the 'normal view'.
Another thing I noticed was that it nolonger confirms a text message that was send. Quite annoying. I'd like to see a more 'friendly' interface. For instance when you send a text is would display 'Sending text' and when it actually finished sending it would display 'Text send'.
Below are the pictures that clarify my problem.

Use schap's advanced config tool. there's an option for enabling or disabling sms sent confirmation

Well I like the idea, its just not mature enough yet to be implemented in an OS. There should have been an option to turn it off.
Thanks alot for your cab. This allows me to go back to WM6.1!

Is there any software that sent messages in the future or as you scheduled it? I find it very useful especially when checking my employees if they are working...

You may try RJV SMS Scheduler or PowerSMS

(REQ) Delivery information SMS showing as popup window and deleting then?

Hi,
is it SOMEHOW possible to improve the sms delivery notification? I had that activated on all my previous phones, but its bugging me that it comes simply as a new sms in your inbox, not like the message sent-information that pops up as a small window.
So is it possible to, like, recognize the sender of the delivery notification as it may be the same everytime and show a little popup windows when this sms arrives saying "message delivered" and then disappearing and deleting that sms from my inbox?
Hm... want to push this.
To clarify, I am thinking about something like this, just like the Message Sent Notification but for Message Delivery.

same app here
http://www.jgui.net/smsreportseraser/index.html
was easy to find with the search
Yeah but this only erases reports as I notice. But it would be neat to have it also show a little message like the one I created and maybe even delete when I press OK

Yeah, I noticed that too... First time I installed it now...
I will keep an eye out for another app...
It would be nice to have a small visual notification also...
please let me know if u find anything else
I mean this program you showed me is exactly what I need, and I mean if it recognizes notifications in the inbox, it can't be that hard to create a little pop up everytime a notification comes in. click it away, delete the notification, bam that rocks
Hi,
thats the programm to do this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=258130
The report pops up and you can delete it with one click.
Additionaly you can configure an own ringtone or only vibrate for it.
oh well thats exactly what I want. Works only for WM5 it says, well let's try that on the Diamond.
works perfect on diamond

doesn't work on mine
Guess it's back to 'sms reports eraser' for me ...
yeah doesnt work for me also.
Well I can live with that sms eraser here, gave it a try. It's okay - my notification is an sms sound and then it erases after a minute.
Do you guys get a delivery receipt per popupbubble
AND
a sms report (real sms)??
Is there a way to only have the popup bubble?

Message Notification screenshots [Why are these appearing?]

So I've uninstalled Handcent, uninstalled ChompSMS, just using the default messaging application. I receive a new sms message, I get double notifications, one smiley face one and a normal sms looking envelope one. I check my messages, review my newly received sms but the envelope icon stays in my tray, sometimes it even says you have 0 new message(s). Anyone have a clue what's going on here? Screenshots!
Using latest CM5 beta5 w/ google apps.

very easy.
from the icon i see that you use Handcent SMS
at the same time however, you didn't disable the notification of the in-build Messenger app - so the phone gives you double notification 1. from Handcent, 2. from the in-build app
if the inbuild messenger app gives you a notification, but Handcent SMS doesn't it means that in Handcent you have probably blacklisted a sender, so Handcent doesn't give you a notification, but the in-build app doesn't have a black list, so it still gives you a notification (= disable the in-build app's notification and no problems thereafter).
p.s. for some reason Handcent's recent release regularly moves people "automagically" into the blacklist (it doesn't seem to like my wife very much.....), therefore I currently have the option "Show Blacklist" enabled... a bit annoying
I don't have handcent installed anymore, it's uninstalled. Thanks for your fast reply. I'm having this problem while only using the default messaging app. No case of double notifications here, when I tap the envelope notifications it doesn't really clear, unless I manually clear all notifications.
Hmm, Have you tried to reinstall handcent and then turn off notifications within handcent, then uninstall? Looks like the options are carrying over.
Do you have beautiful widgets pack 2? the sms in that will automatically notify you even if you never set it up. Made me incredibly mad trying to figure out where the second notification was coming from. finally hooked it up and logcatted it while I sent myself a message. Figured out what it was from that.

Help with 'Do Not Disturb' Mode

Okay. Maybe I'm crazy. Maybe my phone's just not honoring my settings. But my DND mode isn't working. I have it set on a schedule to kick in everyday around 10pm and disable at 7am. I have custom exceptions for favorite contacts, alarms on, repeat callers on, but events/reminders off. I don't have any apps set for priority notifications. But I still get sound notifications for just about everything. On top of that, I still get reminders from the apps I set it on for (messaging apps, mainly SMS). Am I doing something wrong?
Mine force closes every time I attempt to go into the settings. The only way I can get it to work is by manually turning it on and off via the quick settings bar. It does work because I received e-mails, texts etc. while it was turned on and it never made a peep. I googled it, and other people are having the issue also.

Maybe it's your font settings? No problems with mine and no problems having it block stuff when activated. I use it daily when sleeping because I work nights.

Nope went back to default theme and font still does it even after a reboot
I had the same problem and it miraculously started working again
I had the same problem. Started playing around with notification settings for individual apps tonight. I believe I have the settings right to avoid getting notifications when I don't want them. Here's a screen shot of one of the apps. You have to go into each app you DON'T want notifications for and set them as they are in the screen shot. Hope this helps.

UPDATE from previous post - it would appear that my advise above is garbage. I continued to get notifications even after I made changes to individual application notification settings. I'm stumped at this point. Samsung needs to address this.

And while they are at it, add the damn LED to the do not disturb mode!!! I don't want to have a bright green LED shining in my face overnight, much less a blinking one.

Disable test message preview

Is there any way to turn off the preview of text message content on home screen and notification pull down? I don't want to see the content until i choose to open it? I would still like be notified that received a message. I just want to get rid of the preview.
I have the default messaging app installed and when I follow: Messaging App > Menu > Settings > Notifications, the only options are Block, Silent, and Priority. There are no additional options and I don't see anything related to the preview.
This would be a setting in the texting app itself, not a system setting. You can disable the "preview" in the texting app and just get the notification only.

Don't ya just love dumb noob posters. Nearly always with a whinge too.
Had to Google whinge! You must be one our neighbors across the pond? Condolences on the recent tragedy to our British compadres.
No silly questions. Never know how tech familiar someone is.

Google indeed. A pity more didn't do that before expecting to be spoon-fed.
And yes, I'm in Liverpool, 30 miles from Manchester.

How to hide msg content of all apps on the notification bar
Hi
I want to hide all previews for any notification I get on on my notification bar, be it text, email or whatsapp etc. I just want to see which apps have a new notification and how many new notifications. Many of the apps on the LG G6 do not have a 'PREVIEW' setting so I can't disable that within the apps themselves.
Thank you

Have you tried "partially" swiping to expose the settings for the notification?

Still doesn't help
Thanks skyfox99 for the response. Unfortunately, that doesn't help because that controls the notifications in its entirety. So changing the settings that way controls if I get the notification and what sorts of notification settings I get it with. I just want to hide the content that comes with each notification. So that it just says for e.g.. Whatsapp 3 new msgs from xyz
If anyone can help with this, it would be greatly appreciated!
