Hi,
I'm currently using a Samsung Galaxy S and because of the nice picture and video quality I've been using it a lot for quick shots.
However, what I do miss is an application that when started, will automatically start recording. So you press the widget and the recording starts (with some pre-defined settings in a config file for example).
For pictures it would constantly take pictures until some sort of pauze button is pressed.
Do you know of any applications that allow this or something that perhaps does almost the thing?

I'm really interested in this as well.

is there an app which allows the camera shutter to take rapid shots? this is almost related to the "camera timer" topic posted recently. that app has a function to dictate the number of loops within a certain number of seconds delay.
in this case would it be possible to have an app that allows the camera to take successive shots? say; when you press the camera button...unless you release it the camera would continuously take pictures.
just curious...food for thought.
cheers
very few have access to the camara api
so there is yet to come many applications which work with it
You don't need the camera api for this. I'm a bit busy at the moment, but I can convert my timer app to do this. I might get it done tomorrow if I have 5 mins spare.
Copy this file into your \Windows\Start Menu\(where you like) folder. Then goto Settings->Personal->BUttons and select "Rapid Shot" for Button 3 (Camera).
Now when you hold down the Camera button it will keep taking pictures until you release it (upto 100)
It's a bit of a hack for now but if I get a chance I'll tidy it up and put it into the camera timer app.
Cheers
Jamie
hey it works! cool!
regarding "It's a bit of a hack for now but if I get a chance I'll tidy it up and put it into the camera timer app."; you may need to change the name of your program to accomodate the enhancements for the camera
thanks! cheers then
Wow. This is pretty cool.
I have a couple of comments. I don't want this sound like I am hassling you for updates to the proggy, its more of a "I have noticed the following behaviour" and if you find you wanna get around to looking at it good for you.
1 - The program relies on you being in still camera mode for it to work. If you are in video or that crappy other template mode, it just records or takes the two shots.
2 - Any chance of speeding it up?
3 - If after you have released the camera button and you are shown the preview screen if you press the camera icon the program starts to take happy snaps.
The way I think it would be cool and again, please take this as postive feedback, is if you can press the camera button to launch the camera app and then if you subsequently press and hold the camera button again, the burt mode is activates for the still shots, regardless of what capture mode you were in previously. I.e. pressing and holding will change from video to camera mode and start the burft captures.
Again, great work!! I really like the option to have burst mode. I could never press buttons that fast
wowww it is really amazing app!
thanks!
little note: when I start it manually and clik on "Go" only, it never stops taking pictures. Bug??
i was thinking, say i see something interesting, by the time i start camera etc etc it will be gone..
is there or can someone do a quick snap program?
a click will
go to camera
focus and snap
based on pre determined settings
that will be good
Not that I've found - the camera app is what it is, and you can't get past the cutesy animated GUI.
With HD Tweak you can assign "camera" to one of the TF3D home screen soft buttons, which will launch direct into the "take picture" screen, saving you a flip and a press, but you still have to hit the shutter button.
hope someone does it
Try MortScripts. I have no personal experience though..
how can mortscript help for this?
I thought may be possible to reduce clicks required by using automation. May be wrong though
Any way camera start up time is still long even with the Rhodium ported camera app on cooked ROMs (slightly better though).
Use Dutty's rom, it has the Diamond 2 camera app in it.
The screen doesn not lag, and it is very fast!
am hoping for a see it snap it kind of program... is there no way to interface with the cam directly? any developers here pls
hmm no one knows?
Is there a way to remove the "lag" time when taking photos?? it just sucks cause when i use my friends android or iphone.. the camera instantly takes the photo.. whereas my "HD2" with a crapdragon processor takes like 5 seconds... its a little embarrasing...
and is there a way to get my old album back?? i hate how there is just random ass facebook pictures and other crap in my album... is there a reg edit or something which will ultimately prevent that??
Noy sure about the lag - i get that as well, but nowhere near as long a period as you mention.
You can set a particular album as your default in the Photos & Vides tab (camera shots you've taken?) by > Albums > More > (select the one you want) > Menu > Set album as favorite.
the camera in the HD2 is no where lag compared to the HD1.
you have to understand that the HD2 camera had auto focus function and it need time to properly focus. if you want a camera with no lag, get a proper camera.
n
i HATE the camera lag after* i take a picture
i am trying to figuire out if it was always like this...
i think i remember it being really speedy...
tap on the screen first to focus and then your photos will take instantly when you press the button, i used an iphone for the first time yesterday and the HD2 out weighted the speed of it by far on the camera.
Also, you can't compare the quality at all, the 5mp is much better as is the screen size
I've been using the camera a lot lately and have always had a problem with the picture quality, mainly indoor pics. I would hold the phone steady, press the shutter button down halfway, wait for it to focus, then take a picture, but it would still end up a little blurry. Anyone getting problems like this? If not, what settings are you using?
Also, my biggest gripe is the fact that camera settings can't be saved. I would set it up so a friend could take a picture of me, but they somehow always press that search button, which then erases all my camera settings when they go back to the camera app. Did anyone find a hack or some sort of method to keep the settings permanent?
The main reason I have to bring all this up was biggest after taking blurry pictures last night, my friend's just bust out their iphones and with one simple click, they took an almost instantaneous photo with no settings to mess with and no blur at all.
I would also like to add that one of my friends was trying to take photos with his lg quantum as well, and he has the same problem. Is this a problem with windows phone 7 in general?
you could check out shcamera. It's a sideloaded app that was developed for the hd2 crowd, so it doesn't use the camera button, it's all screen rouc, and it doesn't have all the various settings/adjustments, but it saves settings and works pretty good. Tap screen to focus, press onscreen shutter button to take picture.

Same here. I owned an HD7 that didn't have this blurry issue. It seems the Focus camera is super sensitive to movement.
Thanks, at least I know i'm not the only one with this problem. I try to turn on anti shake everytime i use the app, which actually helps a lot. The problem is when I give the phone to someone so they can take the picture. They somehow accidently press the search button and I have to play with the settings again. Kind of a bummer, but I'll try to get used to it.

You might consider having them take more than one picture. I've noticed that when I take another picture after the blurry one, the results tend to be more normal. Maybe have them take a preliminary picture and then a real one. This seems preferable to messing with settings all the time.
Nice. The new NoDo update made the anti-shake option on by default. That will help a lot!

the nodo update didnt default the anti shake on by default on my focus .
The official nodo update for att focus includes a Samsung update that defaults the antishake on, helps lessen accidental capacitive button presses, includes an att hotspot sniffer/whisper that auto logins, and has a provision for transferring att phonebook contacts onto the phone

Anti-shake is on by default for me after the official ATT NoDo update.

Me, too. Still have blurry pics, though.
in low light indoors you might want to try the setting photo quality on medium instead of the default hi setting.
I thought that this was in the presentation at the announcement. It's similar to what the iPhone does. Is it coming in a later update? Honestly it's not useful and more of a novelty but it's still kind of cool. And no I won't just go get an iPhone to have it. Never an option

I wasn't sure if this worked either, so i just did a test of it right now. Make sure burst mode is enabled on your camera. then in the camera app, when taking a photo, press and hold the shutter button... when i did it i had the camera focused on my spare hand, and when i pressed the shutter button (and hold it), i made hand movements while the camera shutter was pressed... i just kind of quickly counted to 5 in my mind. and released shutter button. I was pleased to find an animation that was created in the photos app, an animation of me moving my hand/fingers. pretty neat...
you can share this GIF inside of google hangouts, and the recipient will receive the gif and see the animation. pretty neat.
Well that's very cool!
As a note, if you had auto-upload enabled via Google Photos, it always did this. Now though, it's offloaded that to the phone, so you can have them immediately. Only downside is that these gifs aren't compatible with Facebooks new video upload profile pic. That'd be too easy. :-\
