Hey guys,
Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere, but I've searched around without any luck. Looks like I didn't do a nandroid backup of my stock ROM with Rogers, and now I'm experiencing the hardware problem with the primary speaker not working. Tried reflashing the current ROM on the phone without any luck, and now Rogers is replacing it, but I'd rather not dish out more money when the see it's been changed.
Anyone have any suggestions, or perhaps a stock rom image from a nandroid backup they did with rogers?
Everything you need is in post #11 of this MoDaCo thread- http://android.modaco.com/content/acer-liquid-liquid-modaco-com/317403/acer-lquid-e-rom-upgrade/
Best of luck in getting your device replaced.
That's awesome. Thanks for the link. I'll try this out later tonight.
Ok...so I have been reading and have been quite disappointed...As most of you are aware Rogers and Fido now have the new 2.2 OS out for the Acer liquid e however I am running a leaked version with Malez...and from what I can tell acer did something and because of what I did and from what I can tell I will now not be able to update to the stock rom. From what I can tell it somehow recognizes that the phone is rooted and because of that it cannot be updated..Will this work around help with this problem?

Go to Modaco and search for "fido rogers any phone", something like that.
I did however for some reason I keep getting an error when flashing with the acer tool...I just gave up after a while..tried for over 2 days...I am not sure if it is my computer or some kind of issue with the software

You did what? If you went to Modaco and got the rom by alan009 then you need to flash it with Malez, not acer tools. Acer tools is only meant to flash .bin files. Plus if you read that thread there are a ton of people doing it and asking questions, so no need to get stuck.
Good Luck.
Oh...maybe I did get the info from that post..I was using a set of instructions that I downloaded...It was how to put back your acer to stock rogers rom...It had all the instructions and instructed me to use the acer tool and flash something...It was a while back...I will have to go back and check it out then...I bought the new dell streak and a galaxy s so I kind of put the acer on the back burner...When i get some time i will check it out...thanks man
Looking for stock Recovery.img
Hey guys ^^
I'm looking for the stock recovery.img that comes with Liquid E. The link mentioning where I can find what I need in the above posts has expired but It has lead me to what I believe I need. All except the original recovery.img
I need to send my phone in for repairs. I accidently blew my speakers(both front speaker and back) Its pretty much my fault. Im a welder and I got metal shards in the speakers and I used a magnet to get them out. A big no no lol. Im hoping to pull a fast one on Acer considering I've had the speaker problems where I cant hear the person calling me.
Anywho, I believe I have my old nandriod back up. Im just hoping it not my nandriod back up from my G1. =s Any tips on what I can do to find the stock recovery.img from rogers would be cool and maybe some advice what to check befor I send in my Liquid E? Much Appreciated ^^
PS! My nandroid back up Is rooted I thinks. Do I need to un-root befor I send it in?
If all goes well Ill make sure to put up a link to help the next person in my position. Including my nandroid back up
Ciao - Terry

I flashed the bin and it replaced Malez, Im assuming this is the stock recovery.img. but now I need to install Malez to restore my nandroid back up. Im not quite sure how to pull out the recovery.img and then put it back in when I'm done. help?!

Same problem. My vibrant does not boot Tried the battery method, removing battery, holding volume buttons while putting it back in. Does not work Any other ideas I could try ?
DEAD Vibrant after OTA
Yesterday I borked my Vibrant. Spent alllll night using Odin to get it back to factory and then allowed the Tmobile ota update figuring that it worked fine before. Well it went to reboot and never came back. BLACK screen. Left it plugged in while I ate breakfast with tears dripping in my pancakes (I went to bed at 6am!) and I noticed the top of the phone was very hot. Not the battery the top.
Sometimes I hate technology but technology always hates me!
Would it be worth building a DIY plug?

First of all, what the HECK were you trying to flash onto your device? The only thing you should be using ODIN for is JFD or JI6. Those are the only official T-Mobile firmware you should be flashing to restore from a brick besides Eugene's Froyo, but that's for like emergencies.
Second of all, If you have the Bell Vibrant, this is the wrong forum.
Finally, there is no ODIN 3.1. You must be using Odin3 1.0 which is VERY unstable. Please do more research before you attempt to do things to your phone.
Address these concerns and we can proceed.

Listen here little guy, I was talking to him not you. I asked him three questions to verify what he did because if he doesn't even have the right model phone then this is the INCORRECT forum. The firmware he was trying to flash is incorrect and not stock. T959UVJE8 looks to be firmware for the Vibrant but stock firmware is T959UVJFD and the OTA update is T959UVJI6.
Posting in "our" forum Mr. 3 posts? You are telling me to do more research? That's funny.
Everything I mentioned can be found by simply going to the development section and looking in the Bible. I already mentioned that you need JFD and JI6. The latest version of ODIN is 1.7. All of this can be found in less than 2 minutes.

Honestly, you need to start by looking through there. It seems you both have a lot to learn and spoon feeding you isn't going to solve the bigger problem. Hope you get it resolved. Look through there, find the files you need (you need to get use to looking in the Bible) and come back. If you still have problems after READING, I will walk you through it. Good day.

TMobile Vibrant. It does not even start. So, Odin is not even in the picture. I was flashing the 3 button fix for vibrant using update.zip method. It flashed successfully, but after flashing, it never came back on.
I managed to get my Vibrant into DL mode the other day when it was just a black screen by...
-take out battery, sim, and sd card
-plug phone into wall charger (not computer)
-hold volume buttons while popping the battery back in
it took me a couple times, but i guess the wall charger gets a better jolt?
fyi: my vibrant is not hardware locked
hope this works for you

im going to guess that the answer is probably no but, it never hurts to ask. heres the situation: im a noob when it comes to flashing roms and rooting and hacking android and what not.
so, my intention was just to stay stock and get the updates from sprint. well when dk28 came out, everyone was saying that this IS the official 2.2 update and all you have to do is download the update.zip and install. that sounded easy enough so thats what i did. i now have 2.2 dk28 on my phone. now , everything runs perfect and faster than 2.1 did with the exception of gps. gps is dead. but heres the question. can i go back to stock 2.1 di18 without rooting, using odin, or any other complicated way? like is there a di18.zip i could just download and install? im in no hurry to go back to 2.1 but when the real official 2.2 comes out i want to get it and ill need to be on 2.1 to do so.
This thread might help
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861259
but I think you might still need to root. I didn't read to far into it since i have no problems with Odin myself
i was brave.. i went ahead and installed and used odin. im back to 2.1 and gps fired right up. i think im gonna sit on 2.1 for the rest of the year. if official 2.2 isnt out by dec 31st ill try everything to get gps running on dk28. if i succeed then ill just leave it at that.
Had my Fascinate since launch date. Waited and saw the DI01 come through/ tried to update my phone...install failed miserably..no matter how many times I tried, even did full restore.
I was going to try to get a full DL09 and flash it to my phone, I have Odin, downloaded the .tar file. But got frustrated. I'm pretty computer literate, but for some reason this stuff just escapes me. Anyway went to VZW today and ordered a warranty replacement, should be here Friday. Hopefully this one works and I will either wait for the rumored 22nd release date of Froyo or I will try and download it and flash it...if I can do it.
What hardware version?
Why didn't u post here before u ordered a replacement. It really seem s like the problem was not the phone but what u did.

So don't come at me sideways about it. I did nothing to my phone...yet
Sorry to hear about your issues, but we probably could have helped you out with getting updated. There was a phone in a local VZW store that is stuck on DH12 as well cause the DI01 update kept failing.

It's all good man. Getting a brand new phone as opposed to a refurbished one. I understand what to do, I get the general idea as to how, I can read the steps but I am more of a visual learner, so pictures to go along with these install steps would help someone out like me.
I also work for a VZW Premium Retailer. Corporate stores don't like us much, so kinda shocked the Sales Rep that I had as much knowledge about the phone as I did. It's actually a known software problem with the phones. As well as the issue that if you use the unlock pattern on the phone and fail at it 19 times or more it will lock the phone out...it will ask you for the gmail information that you provided but even that will not work, resetting the phone to stock will not work...I was told this by a Samsung Tech Agent that it was a known software issue with their devices.
Got my new phone today.DL09 on the Baseband....now on to root, and Froyo...hopefully
Godspeed, good sir...

First you should disable voodoo.
Then follow this post. It should wipe your phone and put a completely stock version of DL09 on it.
Just make sure to use the PDA button in Odin only.

You don't even have to disable voodoo. Just flash that and you're done.
Personally I've learn once you do an OTA update, it will not allow you to do it again. It has happened to me when I've tried to do every offical update more than once
thank you for the quick information, I will try it now and report back.

(sorry... guess Stampede is getting to me...)
I am looking for a Bell Vibrant (Samsung Galaxy S i9000M) expert in the Calgary AB area.
I have successfully rooted, installed custom ROMs and then "bricked" two (yes, 2) i9000M phones. Both times, I "bricked" when using ODIN.
Yes, I had researched how to use ODIN before using it... trading weeks of my "life" for the said pearls of ODIN wisodm . I've obviously missed something important, have very bad karma, or I am just an idiot...
After "ODINing", both phones ended-up looping at the SGS Logo. I have tried re-flashing via ODIN many times, always with the same result. I can get both phones into "download" mode (i.e. the yellow triangle screen).
Anyways, I am hoping to find a local expert who is willing to meet me somewhere (library???), look at my phones and confirm:
1. My SD cards have crashed; OR
2. I am a uber noob idiot;
I am also hoping that if #2 is proven the case whether the charitable expert individual might suggest a way and/or help me to fix these expensive plastic paper weights.
So, any charitable local experts willing to help-out an unlucky moron?
t.
What version are you flashing via odin?
you'll most likely have to take them in for warranty repair
@ BottleB:
I tried flashing JH2 (Stock Bell Vibrant ROM???) and 512.pit.
I had original installed CM 7.1 RC1 (via CM wiki method). Everything work awesome.
I decided to try some OC'ing, and flashed the Glitch v10 kernel... with spectacular speed results! Unfortunately, post Glitch flashing, SMS would receive but not send. Researched possible causes and cures for this, could not find any, and decided to revert to stock and try again...
... and here I am.
@graison:
I bought these i9000M's "used" off Kijiji (HATE contracts!). Both worked fine until ODINing.
As such, Bell won't "warranty" these devices (tried with the first one).
I have no problems paying for repairs... if the cost is reasonable. Any ideas/suggestions on the "how's and where's" I can go about trying this?
They most probably had lagfix installed which was not disabled when reflashed to stock. You need to flash the rfs...bin file (i'll upload it later tonight for faster accessing). I found the fix here on xda under a thread on bricked phone.
The lagfix change the filesystem used by the phone. Stock firmware is only compatible with the RFS filesystem. Also, i recommend that you flash KC1 instead oh JH2. Froyo is way better than eclair.

Pretty sure thats the problem. You flashed stock kernel on a EXT4'ed filesystem.
@urself25,
Ah-ha... I have a feeling that you are right, and that I did miss something CRAP!
I await your upload on bated breath... in the mean time, I will search the million posts for the fix you mentioned.
ooops... you beat me to my response.
Tell us how it went when you'll try the RFS fix.
Tried the RFS fix as per the instructions in the link.
After rebooting, both phones go into a SGS start-up screen loop.
Downloading ODIN files right now (JVE - Gingerbread???). I will try and reflash and let you know how it goes.
I'm in Airdrie, don't flash gingerbread! Sell me both phones for $100. Or search for the "trick to unbricking my sgs" thread. It worked for me. Though I am worried that because they were on Eclair firmware, they may be dead if they never got the bootloader update. I repeat, DO NOT FLASH GINGERBREAD!

try a deodexed KC1 (current firmware for Bell Canada) firmware from [Ramad]
Using ODIN -- use a 512.pit file, re-partition ticked, Bootloader Update (just in case), and put PDA -> PDA, PHONE -> PHONE, etc.

IF it takes you to android recovery 2e or 3e (i cant remember), do a factory reset/cache wipe, and even format sd if you want. it SHOULD work (i just did this too and it worked mint.
Holy crap! It's near 4:30 a.m., and I FINALLY restored/recovered my two phones! Truth be told, I spent half the night screwing up my phones WAY worse than they were ... and the second half of the night cleaning up my mess
@urself25 & @BottleB - I can't say definitively whether or not your link really helped me any... but it definitely put me on the right path. Thanks a lot boys!
@xWarMachine04 - Thanks for the directions and link! I *kinda* went that route in a round-about-way... I just wished I would have check my post and found your reply 4 hours ago! Regardless, my gratitude.
@hansonator - Thanks but no thanks; for $100, I'd use my bricked phones as door stops. REGARDLESS, I do thank you for your gingerbread warning. I did have problems with gingerbread, and (successfully) shifted to froyo on your recommendation. Thanks dude!
All's well that ends well...
- t.
Most probably the firmware didn't install properly because fo the problem RFS problem. A fresh reinstall of the firmware with bootlader finally fix the problem. Glad everything worked out for you.
I'm in Calgary. But I'm hardly an expert. I think you've gotten further than I have.
So I have nothing to contribute to this thread. I'll see my way out.

Learned a lot? No kidding...
Why is it that the biggest/best lessons always have to be soooo painful???
I must admit that my opinion of ODIN has sure changed; it's a pretty slick piece of software when it works right (i.e. when you have half a clue about what you are doing)!
@urself25 - It wasn't so much a firmware installation problem, as much as the SD card file format (like you suggested in the first place). I kept getting a message along the lines of "can't mount sd; storage not ready... blah blah blah... file format blah blah blah...". I did have to do a complete reinstall (PDA, Phone/Modem, CSC) WITH repartition... and on the second phone, a Bootloader update. Didn't do the repartition in the first place because 95% of the threads out there advise against it. Anyways, my solution was pretty much @xWarMachine04's approach/solution.
Unfortunately, I have developed the "randomly self-invoking" back button problem on the second phone. Fortunately, there seems to be an easy fix for that... but that's what I thought at the beginning of this journey!
Again, thanks everyone!
- t.
Now if you want to flash gingerbread it should be OK. I only advised against it because the phones were bricked. Good to hear you got it sorted out.

i'm in Calgary too, but i am no expert either... however i have been able to upgrade my phone from froyo (after taking my i9000m to market mall due to the internal card dying back in December), to gingerbread.
First went with Darky's 9.5... then upgraded to 10 and had NO issues with GB. I'm on GB still using the F1 Rom V9 now and love this.
For the OP: Glad to see you were able to fix both of your phones! Congrats... definitely no easy feat!
