Help again. - Droid X General

I was just on liberty rom and now im back on stock rom and I've noticed that when I turn my phone on I have liberty instead of the Motorola. I still have the red eye and and everything. So how can I fix this. I have root explorer and terminal emulator if I can use one of those that would be great.

Are you sure it is not just the background image that may have been restored by Google's backup service. Check the system info to see what rom you are running.

I read my post and I think its not what im trying to say. I don't have Motorola when I boot up my phone it now says liberty. Then from there it goes into the droid x boot screen with the red eye. So the moto has been replaced with liberty.

I forget exactly where it is...but its probably somewhere like /data/local/logo.something... Like I said, don't remember the exact location, but its just the location that is overwritten when you switched back to stock.

Search the mkt for an app like boot logo changer. You can customize your own as well.

[Q] Stock droid 2 ROM

My friend kind of went a little crazy and got too ambitious with his newly found root powers, and deleted some important stuff, so I need to know where I can get a stock droid 2 rom so he can just start over from scratch. And no, he didn't make a backup before he started messing with it, unfortunately. Any help in directing me to a stock rom would be much appreciated =)
Didn't wanna start a new thread. This was the original question for this thread, just so the two replies make sense:
"So I just bought my droid 2, rooted it using the one click method, didn't have any complications, but then I tried installing clockwork recovery, and while it said it installed successfully, but when I try rebooting into recovery, it just reboots normally.
I tried booting straight into recovery using the power button and x, but all it does is display the android with an exclaimation point next to it, and I have to pull the battery to get it to reboot.
WTF is going on?! I've looked through the forums and googled it, but I can't figure out what the problem is, anyone know?"

If you are on GB the stock recovery button pattern is different. I had the same problem on my dx. You should Google it and try that. I don't remember the button pattern. Pm me if you need more help.

Flashing a new is sbf is very easy I just done mine yesterday ( bricked mine trying to change rom too.) Now I'm back up and running without an issue. Pm me for the link to the sbf if you still need it

your ol' lady's gonna be pissed.....
Ok..sbfd...was really easy compared to using nvflash on tegra2. The longest part of the whole thing was dling the sbf file over a ****ty mi-fi connection.
Z4 root, liberty toolbox nightly, bam - running liberty gb.
Not so bad... hopefully wont bar my gf from allowing me to **** around with her phone in the future.

Rooted gingerbread that took ota and still rooted but no recovery

Ok peeps. Here is the deal. I switched over from an evo to Verizon Droid x waiting on the galaxy s2. So kind of new, kind of not.
Here is my issue. I sbf'ed to froyo so I can gain root. Then back to a 596(?) Gingerbread and it worked great. Now... it took an ota and installed it. Not sure how, but it did. I kept the root (su permissions) but now it will not boot into clockwork recovery. I've used the ROM manager and dx boot logger program (sorry can't remember the exact name) and all it does is reboot, get the Motorola logo then blank screen. It sits for a while then I get impatient and pull the battery.
Any help would please be helpful.

Are you sure you're still rooted?
Have you had an app ask for superuser permissions?
If you have a terminal emulator, open it and type su to see if you get the #.
If you don't, you are no longer rooted.
Yes, I have had apps ask for permission. Like titanium, wireless tether, etc.

Milestone X root

Hi everyone I have a rooted evo and I've rooted and unrooted a couple times and I am very compfortable with flashing roms because I do it all the time. My boss has a milestone x and she wants me to root it for her. I was wondering if someone could give me a list of roms that are stable and work well on milestone x also hotspot working! Also is there an amonra recovery I can put on. If anyone has the files I will need to root that would be great. On my Evo I just unrevoke then flash amonra and a Rom and its in business. Is there a big change on how to root this? Thanks a lot Droidxers I really appreciate it!

I recently purchased a milestone x the gingerbreak app worked for me

I rooted mine using SuperOneClick root and it worked easily!
As for a working ROM I have read that it is a long process to make Droid X ROM's work with our APN's and it is possible to get stuck with Verizon's network so I haven't even tried it.
What I have done that has made the experience much different is install some apps and script's that 180'ed the stock ROM and make it feel like a completely different device.
Well this is what I did, I searched gingerbreak on 4shared . Com website, downloaded, open it, then press root. The root is successful when it turns off, if it doesn't work redownload another apk..
For the CMW recovory..I searched droid x bootstrapper, again on 4 shared..pressed bootstrap recovery, then reboot recovery.
Far as custom roms go its not many that work on Milestone X, Liberty 2.0.1 does with no tweakin..
Miui and Cm7 works with a script kernel tweak seen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?nomobile=1&v=vxZ7cBt2K-Q you just have to delete the Verizon kernel script with notepad and save the changes..the exact tutorial is under "show more" under the video..that should work

Flashed wrong rom

So I recently bought a droid x, I currently own an evo shift.. so I rooted the droid and installed boostrap x.. now I nandroided and proceeded to flash miui.us 1.10.21, so upon completion phone is stuck at the M screen... now I go into recovery via "home and "power" but I can't flash any rom besides and update.zip... I was on stock 2.2.1 which is my problem since its GB rom... my question what can I do to boot my phone up?? Any insight would be great..

You have to SBF.
Google for instructions on how to do so, it's really easy and returns your phone to stock.

Thanks I will def try that...
Update: sbf work flawless... now my question is... if I want to flash miui.us do I use boostrap X or 2?

Use Droid 2 Bootstrapper.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Are you on froyo stock or gingerbread stock? Because if you are using a newer version of MIUI and on the froyo kernel then youll get stuck on the bootlogo. One good way to tell if youre on froyo or gingerbread is by the boot logo, red moto=gingerbread; white moto=froyo
if ur on froyo u use dx bootloader, if ur on gb u use d2 bootstrap

I find that Droid 2 Bootstrapper works just as well on Froyo.
