Hi im on stock 318 2.2 and i read that i can root with z4 1.3 or superoneclick
I tried z4 and it just force closes after about 5 minutes
Superoneclick freezes at the first waiting for device. (I did the enable and disable USB debug) and i get a not responding message and i have to end process.

Superoneclick should be work. Check your usb driver for the streak. Install also pc companion this should install the proper usb driver.

Hi there, I've searched a lot for an answer, but haven't found anything. I don't want to make a mistake and end up with an unusable device.
I bought a used Streak off eBay, which is already running Android 2.2 (Baseband GAUSB1A130900-EU build number 11548). I am having problems authorising Facebook widgets, which I believe is linked to a problem loading HTTPS sites (needed to authorise some Facebook widgets such as the LauncherPro one).
I would like to upgrade to this rom:
http://android.modaco.com/content/d...o-com/325595/dell-new-official-rom-8-12-2010/
Which apparently solves the above problem.
Could anyone talk me through what is required? The problem is I don't know what has been done to the handset before I bought it, is there any way to check? Does it need to be rooted to 'upgrade' from 2.2 to another 2.2 image? Do I just need to copy the new image to the SD card, rename it and boot into recovery mode? My desktop is running Ubuntu if that affects the procedure.
Any help is much appreciated.
You need to update your streak to build to 12332, the 315 package first. To do this just download it from xda-forums(I can't find which forum right now), rename it Update.pkg(should already have .pkg on end of it). Then boot into recovery by turning off Streak, then hold volume up & down & power button @ the same time. You should see 4 options, choose option 2(something about installl Update.pkg). Your phone will then ask you to press the camera button to begin update.

Thanks a lot for the reply. After I've installed the image you suggest is it then safe to install the one I originally linked to?
Is the rule to generally only upgrade one release at a time?
Thanks.

i just downloaded the 315 file from the dell website with the stock browser on the streak..then installed it by tapping the downloaded file in the top bar while my streak stayed connected to my pc with the usb cable....and did the same with the 318 file.
It has to reboot several times during the update but it works perfect.
no rooting, no recovery needed... i have also an unlocked euro version with 1.6 first.
-so 1.6 to 2.2 en now the latest 318 version.
Not necessary to update to 315 first. Just follow this link:
http://mobileupdate.dell.com/?version=GAUSB1A111800
Worked perfect for me!

This post is correct. I forgot that you have the image already if you are on Froyo. Just follow the link from your phone and you should be fine
Great, thanks a lot guys.

It just sits on waiting for device. ive tried reinstalling drivers, run as admin. and tried turning on and off debugging any other suggestions? please i hate having no root i miss SetCPU and the great battery life while using it. thanks for anyhelp i can get.
oh im on 318 official froyo 2.2 stage ui
Hey guys.
First of all, I am totally newb in rooting mobile devices. So maybe i've done something wrong.
Well... Yesterday i went to my sisters and her boyfriends house. He started messing around with my girlfriends HTC Wildfire, and he got it rooted in, practically, no time.
Then he started messing around with my X10. But we ran into some troubles.
He downloaded z4root and moved it to my SD card. Then he tried running it, just like he did on the wildfire, my sisters X10mini and his own Desire. We waited a little time and then z4root closed, and nothing more happend. We rebooted the phone and tried again. Same thing. Ok. We didn't go further there. Ofc he checked debugging and stay awake.
When we got home, i started looking for some guides myself, and i found a guide on xperiax10.net (can't link due to safety restrictions on this forum) But i needed to connect the phone to my pc, and download a exploid file. Then the rest happens in command promt from windows7.
It all went fine until i reached the step where I should text in "rootshell". Then i got the message: "Rootshell: Permission denied"...
Okay. I tried searching on for some other guides and programs. Then i got here. And now i have tried, if not all, then most of the guides here. Nothing in SuperOneClick works (tried 4 or 5 different versions), followed all the troubleshooting included in the guides (uncheck and check debugging and so on) and absolutely nothing seems to work
My x10 is running Android 2.1-update1, version 2.1.A.0.435
The phone is still running, but i can't figure out, why I can't root it. Want to get rid of all the pre installed apps and tweak it more.
Have i missed something, or is my phone just ****ed?
Any help is much appreciated. I'm lost here, and feels like i have tried anything.
/Kenneth
Hey, I actually went into the same problem. and from what i've read. other users running the same firmware has run into this problem. So my guess is that with z4root, your x10 is currently 'unrootable', try using that superoneclick one. Someone claims he got .435 rooted

So basically... If i downgrade the firmware, I should be able to root it?
And regarding the superoneclick. I've tried 4 or 5 different versions. And i CAN'T get it running. So unless i'm doing something wrong, i doubt that he has rooted it?
Try the latest flash tool (0.2.6). It worked for me. Im running .435. I hope this help. Cheers.

Hello, I'm kind of a noob here, although i've been following the forums for quite some time now. Now let's get straight to the point. I've rooted my defy and went from stock froyo 2.2.2 to wajkIUI ics 1.2.16. Now i would like to go back to stock. Kernel version is 2.6.32.9. No backup of the previous system has been made. My stock froyo didn't have motoblur so I would like you to recommend one and also explain the procedure of reverting back to stock. Thank you for yout help.

I had problems with 64bit Win7, RSD wont recognize my phone. You can try with Vista/Xp 32 bit is the best.
Just flash your region SBF, you can find one from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966537
