[Q] Multiple Google Calendar Sync - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

I have 4 different google calendars... Birthdays, Class Schedule, Assignments, and my regular personal Calendar. I want to be able to sync all of the calendars with WP7 but everywhere i've looked says it can only be done by syncing the calendars to outlook, then syncing outlook to the phone.
Has anyone figured out a way to do this without syncing it to Outlook? I already have an Outlook calendar for work and merging the two and not being able to differentiate them would just be a big mess...

Setup a google mail account (for each account of course)
Go in those accounts to settings > sync settings > and tick the option "calendar" where you will also find the option for mail and contacts
All the calendar items will appear in the calendar of WP7. Or at least, this is how it works for me
Edit:
Somebody might put some additional notes to this, as i have no idea if the calendar that is used is automatically the outlook calendar?

depends on if u haave a google account for home and another for school like some colleges use the google apps domain to host their email and calendar ervvices you can set this up by going to settings email and accounts then add an account hit google and enter your full email and password even though it says username that threw me off the first time too so im just telling you now

2.1 we have which supports multi gmail accounts how about multi calendars?

Me and my wife work together and were wondering if it is possible to sync her gmail and my gmail account so we could view each others appointments inc.?
Add it in gmail
Setup your calendars in gmail and it will show up on your phone... at least with Sense. What ever calendars you have listed in Gmail calendar will be an option on your phone.
thanks didn't realize i could do that before the whole google "mail, cal, voice" is all new to me

Question about the calendar

Hi guys!
I just bought my SG and I have it setup with my exchange server at work.
I noticed when first used the calendar I had to setup a google account to use it? Why i gods name would I want a google calendar when I have exchange?
I also noticed when I create a new appointment on the phone I always have to choose which calendar I want to use.
The "my calendar" is always by default. Is there a way to change default calendar to my corporate calendar?
Or even better, delete or disable my calendar and google calendar and only use my corporate account?
Thanx in advance
I've got the same problem, however I am using Google Calendar with 2 calendars. "My Calendar" is always the default, there doesn't seem to be a way to delete it.
Anyone have any ideas?
bump, bump.....
Anyone any idea about how to change the default calendar ?
The "My Calendar" is the phones calendar, so u will not be able to delete it and I cant see a way how to change the default calendar. Cause when u make an appointment in the phone, firstly it needs to put it to the phones calendar and then sync with other calendars.
Just set a sync with exchange calendar and it will send the appointments from My calendar to your exchange calendar.

Hi Mikulec, nice to see you here in the galaxy fora
Thanks for the explanation. But... I use google calendar and I want all my local appointments sync with my google account. Unfortunately when I enter a appointment in the local "my calendar" it doesn't sync with google. I have save the appointment explicitely to the "google calendar". (which is a hassle)

Nice to see u here too.
Looks like u are right. The sync only works when u make appointment in google calendar via web, it then sync with google calendar on your mobile, but its not happing the other way (from mobile to web).
So u have to save the appointment to google calendar and not to my calendar. Which is as u said hassle but it is kind of obvious. Because when u make an appointment in mobile and save it to my calendar and then it will sync with google calendar, u will have double appointments, u will have to disable the showing of my calendar in the settings.
So that means we will have to live with this "functionality".
it works perfectly for me, Google Apps are my #1 office tools, i hate Outlook with passion!

Never put my Calendar items in the clouds, I'll like to keep them in my hands. Never use Google Calendar or similar.

But, do you save each calendar entry made on your sammy to your google sync then?
i sync my outlook to google calendar, this way i have both of my devices in sync
Android + PC + Windows Mobile
I've no secrets to keep, so i don't mind having my stuff on the clouds.
but anyone being paranoid about having stuff on the google servers, can always use their own home/office server for that kind of stuff.

I don't have a problem with that also. But the question remains: have you find a workaround for the problem described above

i only use 1 calendar account, so i don't have that problem the OP has
from the calendar program, click the menu button, then select settings, then Calendars. from here you should be able to select and deselect calendars.
try this. does this make whichever calendar is remaining the default one for new entries?

Sadly not, I only have my google calendar selected, the my calendar is unchecked, yet when I create a new entry the my calendar is still the default calendar, annoying to say the least.
Calendar sync
I've been able to get the exchange sync working except for one thing - the calendar appointments are a half hour early? The time zone/time is correct on the phone, and the appointment times appear OK on an iPhone. Any ideas? Other than that it was a dream to get the exchange account set up (gotta love staff that buy unsupported corporate phones then want support)!

Did you get the google calendar working from mobile to web ? If so, what's the resolution ?
I've been banging my head against the exchange-SGS for about 72hrs now.
Coming from an WM sony X1 I was gutted to find no 'perfect' exchange on SGS. I now have my exchange a/c, 1x pop3 a/c and a hotmail a/c just about sorted now. I've found that the stock SGS calendar can be a bit iffy on calendar appointments so I removed the account, then re-installed it but with out the calendar being sync'd. I've un sync'd the calendar from the 'must have' google a/c. I'm now running touchdown just to bring in the calendar from my exchange a/c. K9 mail looks after my other pop3 & hotmail a/c.
Although nice and big the SGS calendar is i've found pure calendar widgets best for my home page at present. Its a shame that I've had to cough up dosh just to do what a WM phone does best.

Only partly in sync with google cal

I have problems with my calendar. In my google calendar I have more than one calendar on my own, and a couple of shared calendars - but on my galaxy I can only get it to sync ONE of my own calendars, and ONE of my shared calendars.
Does this happen to anyone else.
what are you trying to sync?
i can sync all my calendars and contacts via the Samsung Community Apps
I'm trying to sync to the stock calendar app.
go to settings > accounts and sync
make sure all your accounts listed have a green circle and edit each of them to make sure the sync options are Checked in green
some times they go grey, if they failed too many times
The problem is that they are not all listed.
Apparently other calendars that I can download also use the built-in sync, so my extra calendars are also missing there.
all my addons calendars like holidays and stuff shows up in the sync-ed calendar on the phone
all i do is select whatever i want from google account, then it syncs everything in it

GMAIl accounts

If in the settings i go under ACCOUNTS & SYNC I can see I have two accounts for my gmail:
one named CORPORATE with a square symbol: this is used for pushmail settings and the options to sync calendar and contacts are not selected
one named GOOGLE with a "g" symbol: this has no pushmail settings but only options to sync calendar, contacts and picassa and they are all selected (but I have unselected picassa)
In practice I have a CORPORATE account for email and a GMAIL account for calendar and contacts, which is fine, but every time I try to add a contact it asks me if I want to add it to the CORPORATE or to the GMAIL account, which is annoying... Is there any way to set GOOGLE account as a default for contacts (like for email where if you have more than one account you can set one as default)
Please note that in case of calendar entries there is no prompt of which account to use
What if I remove the GOOGLE account and I use only the CORPORATE account for emails, contacts and calendar? Do I lose any feature?

[q] want to migrate to android, but want to keep hotmail (full html) please help!!!

I am tires of WINMO 6.5, and WP7 is not what I want. The only thing is that I can't give up my hotmail, and NO I don't want POP3 version, and the exchange trick won't show me attachments..... not html etc.
I want hotmail to behave like any an regular email client.
As of now this is how I am setup on winmo 6.5:
1. PH#s (contacts with PH#s) + Calendar = Gmail, synced via microsoft exchange (I do this because I use Google voice)
2. Email (Hotmail) + Email contacts - synced via windows live email client
Any advise will be greatly appreciated. Also... I would like to combine somehow all my contacts in one directory that will be synced somehow between gmail (for google voice texts and calls) and hotmail (since I use this all over my PC's and add contacts from different locations. Can I do all this and use ANDROID?? Please help!! Thank you!!! - Peter
lol you already have the right parts. Just finish adding your contacts to Gmail. Sign in to your Gmail account as your Google account on your Android phone and you can automatically sync your Google calendar and Google contacts. You can even auto sync your contacts so that as soon as they're in your phone they'll be added to your contacts. If you're worried about all your email only contacts showing up in your dialer, then you usually have the option to only show contacts with phone numbers.
Gmail (as with most e-mail clients) supports HTML.
You've just reminded me what a PITA WM6.5 was. It was workaround after workaround to get the last workaround to work. There's a reason Microsoft dumped the old "Windows Mobile" name and start fresh. 6.5 compared to ANY modern smartphone software is just dumb. Sorry for the rant, I think I was getting flashbacks @[email protected]
In Gmail you can add your hotmail, yahoo and others through an interface(PC only). When you have your gmail account open in a browser(PC) click the gear in the upper right corner and select mail settings. Then select accounts and imports tab and it's the second option. Super easy as I have done it. As for mail, there is a @mail app built into android. Just google hotmail android and you'll find pop3/imap/exchange settings everywhere. And I do believe that @email android app is HTML viewable.
There is no reason at this point to keep that old 6.5 phone, jump over to Android and you'll totally forget you ever had a lesser phone.
But.. still if I add Hotmail via exchange, it wont let me view attachments... Pop3 is not the way to go, since is not a complete sync with the server (I check Hotmail from different PC's and add/remove contacts constantly. Pop3 won't sync that)

So does this mean I will switch from Hotmail? And when I reply to an email received at hotmail will show my gmail as sender? Again, I don't want to switch from hotmail. All I want is an "email client" for android that fully suports hotmail with 2 way sync. I hope you understand.
P.S. looks like my post shows up twice. How do I delete the other one?
Thank you you guys for your help!!!
I believe "Enhanced Email" for Android does what you're looking for. It can use Exchange ActiveSync and has an option for HTML email.
Also, if you want to sync Gmail and Hotmail contacts, try Soocial.
