Anyone have bluetooth issue? - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Bluetooth for me has been disconnecting and stereo bluetooth is broken. I think there's a death grip around the top part of the device. This is my 2nd mytouch 4g I replaced the old one because of this issue ? Has anybody ever checked their bluetooth performance before? I can't find this topic anywhere on here and Google hasn't been helping.

I've found that to connect my stereo headset reliably each time, I must turn on the headset first before turning bluetooth on at the phone. If I do it phone first, at least half the time media output doesn't connect, only the phone audio will connect.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App

Can you try covering the top part of the phone and see if the audio is broken or not. I'm just curious if its only because the death grip or its just the design flaw.. it happens to both of my bluetooth stereo systems though.

Bluetooth signals cannot pass through your body. Covering the radio with your hand will definitely kill the signal. Some devices have better overall range than others but all will be greatly affected by obstructing the antenna with any part of the body.
Swyped on my rooted MyTouch4G

My bluetooth HAD been working flawlessly with two different types of headphones and two different car systems every day up until today. Now I’m getting the same thing I did with my HTC Evo after HTC sent out some updates. The headphones are in the bluetooth list but can’t connect. At least one car connects until you try to do anything with the phone and it disconnects.
I restored factory settings and headphones are working once again. Hopefully that will stay the case. Looking to see if there is a way to prevent updates from reaching my phone.

bluetooth audio stutter

is it just me??
there aren't that many reports of this issue on the net. it was briefly mentioned on one of the reviews and that was it.
anyway, on higher bitrate mp3 playback, bluetooth headset audio stutters and skips a lot, even if the device is held very very close.
wifi was not running, 3g data was not on.
if you guys think the issue I posted on google Android's bug site is relevant, then please vote.

Desire as well?? wow..
i think perhaps ill try disabling the HTC Sense or something
just dont understand why no one's been complaining
whats the x10 like by the way...it looks really nice but someone somewhere said SE's skin is slow?
how much battery life do you get out of it?
I do have trouble using just a plain headset. I only get about 30cm range before the audio begin to stutter.
I've tried with two different Sony Ericsson headsets (HBH-PV710, HBH-610a) and a TomTom Go930.
Is it a software issue or hardware related? Repair?

am guessing it's hardware...
but perhaps it can still be helped by modifications in software
basically im still getting the same issues with a custom ROM
Got the phone replaced with a brand new, still the same problem.
Audio in headset is really bad, but in the other end they can hear me loud and clear.
Could it be poor output power from the Bluetooth transmitter in the phone,
while reception is good?
I've restored it to factory settings, and had WiFi disabled.
I've got the same problems on my Legend.
Both A2D2-profile and standard audio for talking.
No more than 80-90 cm before the static and noice occurs.
My colleague here at the mobile-store had the same problems on Hero, and now on his currently X10..
So to me this seems as an Android problem overall, but I can't tell for sure..
My Legend is my first Android handset, and I like it..
I only wish these blutoothproblems hadn't been here.. Should have been just the same as on my beloved Sony Ericsson handsets..
Got a new headset a Nokia BH-602 and the audio is a lot better, not perfect but at least I can hear every word said.
It's quite strange that SE HBH-PV710 and HBH-610a including TomTom Go930 just didn't work.
I'm just curious what qualification Android or Bluez did meet to certify for the Bluetooth standard.
Sorry to bump an old thread...
But just wanted to add I have the exact same issue, the bluetooth range is not very far at all, however it is a lot better then 30-60cm.. i'm able to go for about 2-4 meters with line of sight.
So i guess its usable as long as the phone is in my pocket which is fine.. just wish it was a little better like my previous phones where I can just leave it charging and walk around the house.
Bluetooth support is pretty atrocious on this HTC Legend.
Never had any problems streaming audio or using any of my previous devices with my car stereo for handsfree.
But this Legend is pants! - It won't work with Bluetooth Audio streaming at all - I just get static and some wierd clicking noises (using 2.03 latest official ROM) and handsfree connects ok - but then drops half way through a call causing me to lose my call at the time.
Any resolves for these bluetooth woes?
thanks in advance.
PS - Using it with my Pioneer FH-P80BT
I use my Legend with a pair of Sennheiser MM400 headphones. I have no stutter with bluetooth stereo (except minor cuts when browsing some intensive websites or typing fast in landscape mode). My headset works well even with the phone in my pocket (although it skips momentarily if I turn my head right or if my hand touches the bluetooth transmitter near the camera lens).
Perhaps some of the reported problems are caused by some background process using CPU cycles with high priority?
Incidentally, I highly recommend these headphones - bluetooth playback is of identical quality to wired playback. I don't know how Sennhesier have acomplished this feat but every other brand of bluetooth headphones I have used before have had intolerable reproduction of high frequency sounds.
I am having this problem as well...streaming music from my T-Mobile Vibrant to my radio via bluetooth. The radio is bluetooth 2.1 compatible and the Vibrant is supposedly Bluetooth 3.0.
I used to have a Mytouch 3G running Android 1.6 and I do not remember having this problem.
Same problem here !
am using Legend, and "Jwin Stereo bluetooth" headphones that needs "A2DP" to work, and its working clear but there is some silly cuts while listening mp3's and its disturbing me, i cant ignore these cuts coz are alot !
Please tell us if there is any way to solve it ...
Thanks..

Bluetooth Range

Anyone else having issues with bluetooth devices on the atrix? I use a Liquidaux bluetooth adapter in my car with the Atrix docked in the car dock mounted to the windshield. It plays for a few minutes then the sounds starts cutting out, if I pull the phone out of the dock and move it to within a few inches of the adaptor it clears up. If I dissconect and pe pair, it fixes it for a few minutes then starts cutting out again. I tested with a pair of southwing headphones to see what kind of range i could get and was only able to get around 5 feet.
I have had bluetooth cut out a few times in my car. Music keeps playing with no working audio then a few minutes later it disconnects
My jawbone headset goes as far at 100 ft or more
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
The Bluetooth on the Atrix seems to be very on demand as compared to other devices. We have an HTC EVO and an HTC Aria in the household as well and they both stay connected to our Benz, but the Atrix seems only to connect when I'm about to make a call (which is all it's used for).

Completely agree with this. Whenever I turn on my bluetooth headset, it does NOT automatically connect to the Atrix. I have to manually connect every single time (Wireless Networks > Bluetooth Settings > Click Headset to Connect)/ Is there anyway to fix this?
Does anyone know if the Atrix BT is compatible with any BT keyboard, or only the one that comes with the Media Dock? I was thinking it would be convenient to use the Atrix with a Generic BT Keyboard and Mouse (which I already have), and not pay extra to get a Media Dock. (I realize I could use the Media Dock and plug in a USB BT adapter to use something like the Logitech BT Keyboard/Mouse set.)
I also wonder if the Moto Keyboard has decent keying? I have found it harder and harder to find ANY BT keyboards with decent keys lately. I really dislike the chicklet keyboards. Unpleasent to type on!
Thanks in advance.

Bluetooth car connection: works, but no sound

Hi everyone,
I picked up my GSIII yesterday (SGH-I747, Bell version from Canada). The phone is a champ, but so far I found fairly serious problem. My car has bluetooth phone functions built in. I paired the phone with it, and it pairs just fine. I can receive and make calls from the car just fine as well, but there is no incoming or outgoing audio. When connected to my car's bluetooth, there is no audio going through my car's speakers or through the phone. It is only when I grab the phone and unclick the "bluetooth headset" button that I can talk on the phone. If I turn "bluetooth headset" back on, there is no sound again. My car worked with my old Blackberry 8330, so the car is fine. It's a 2009 Mercedes-Benz B200, fully loaded, Canadian spec. It has the AUDIO 20 system built in.
My phone specs are as follows:
-stock ROM, not rooted or anything (do we have root yet?)
-Baseband: I747MVLLE8
-Build: IMM76D-I747MVLLE8
The GSII seemed to have the same problem when it came out and it was fixed with a firmware update (http://samsunggalaxysforums.com/showthread.php/5212-Speaker-and-mic-problem-when-calling-someone.)
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
Did u by any chance turned down the volume on the phone?

after pairing did you go into the bluetooth setting for the paired device (car) and check the "call audio" box?

Yep. It's checked. Moreover, if I uncheck it, the car doesn't connect to the phone.
I'll check my calling this morning, but yesterday I had streaming audio via bluetooth (audible playing a book). The only thing I noticed was that, unlike my old myTouch 4g running CM7, the book didn't stop playing when I turned the car off. That's something I'll have to work out.
EDIT - it's only audible that gives me a problem - looks like a specific app issue.
I'll l have to check if my calls work. All my music and podcast work good. They stop when the car turns off and starts up again when I start the car the next day.
Edit: Just tried it out and incoming and outgoing call sounds work great. No issues here.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
I have absolutely no issues with incoming and outgoing calls through Bluetooth in my car. Also, I have no issues playing music through Bluetooth. Possibly try a factory reset on your phone and try again...
It sounds like all your cars support A2DP for playing music. Mine doesn't, it just acts as an old-school bluetooth headset. Can that make a difference?
Mine plays perfectly using Googles Play Music streaming service, also calls work fine, too. This is on my Dodge's U-Connect.
Update: I tried with an old jawbone headset to see if it's a general Bluetooth problem or just specific to my car. The jawbone works like a charm, so it's not a problem with Bluetooth versions or anything like that. But I did notice something interesting: in the Bluetooth options in the gs3 the jawbone comes up with a picture of a phone handset beside it whereas the car has a picture of headphones. I think that's the problem: the phone recognized the wrong Bluetooth profile. I can't seem to delete th car off the list of Bluetooth devices. This is rreally irritating. Any suggestions (short of a total reset)? Thanks!
You might see if there's an update for your car's Bluetooth... if so that might fix your issue.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
No go so far. I'll have to try a reset, otherwise wait for an update or some custom ROMs.
Update: I still haven't done the reset, but I went to the Mercedes dealer today. They told me (after almost a day of investigating) that Germany said that the GSIII is forever incompatible with the B200. I think that's pretty dumb because the problem is clearly software, but the dealer seems to be washing its hands of this matter.

WiFi not working while on call with Bluetooth headset

Has anyone had this issue? Anytime I'm on a call with my Bluetooth headset I can't use WiFi it won't scan or connect. When I switch to phone speaker or earpiece it connects. Also when I'm listening to music with Bluetooth it connects just not when calling.
Thanks for any reply.

I have a different issue with Bluetooth. Whenever I turn on Bluetooth and am done with it I turn it off. The next time I want to use it I try to turn it on and the on toggle switch toggles to the off position. It won't turn on until I reboot the phone. Then it's on as soon as I reboot. When I'm done with Bluetooth I turn it back off. Rinse, repeat. Any body got any ideas? Hopefully the op doesn't feel I'm highjacking his thread. I just haven't seen any other post relating to Bluetooth troubles on the Nexus 4.

Yup having this issue. WiFi connectivity does when on a call using Bluetooth. Connect to a 5ghz WiFi network so both can work together at the same time or hope Google will fix it.

Having done a small amount of digging around trying to figure out why I can't use my 2.4GHz WiFi at the same time as a Bluetooth headset, it looks like it's most likely due to the change of Bluetooth stack in 4.2.x.
Bluetooth has a feature called Adaptive Frequency Hopping that is supposed to automatically detect which frequencies in the 2.4GHz range are being used by other services, such as WiFi, and then avoid them. My wild and uninformed guess is that this is not working correctly and hence the Bluetooth and WiFi signals are interfering with one another to the point that neither can operate reliably. Fundamentally this is likely to be the same for headsets used for voice calls as well as basic audio playback.
If I switch the N4 to the 5GHz radio on my AP then everything co-exists happily and fluffy bunnies hop around peacefully in flowery fields.
In my case it certainly doesn't just affect streaming audio. If I play a local music track via my Bluetooth headset or speakers, the WiFi connection will usually drop; though even if it doesn't, it's not possible to download any files for example.
I have also tested on a Nexus 7 running 4.2.1 and, whilst it seems this can just manage streaming audio, as soon as I start to download a file the BT audio stutters very badly. That could also be down to the poor I/O bandwidth, though, and I'm not in any hurry to downgrade to 4.1 to prove the point at the moment.
Final test was on an ASUS TF300 with 4.1.1. This happily streamed audio over BT and downloaded a file at the same time. Also no problems playing a local track over BT whilst downloading a large file using WiFi.
There are a few related bugs open on the Android bug-tracker, for what that's worth. There are a massive number of Bluetooth issues overall, but a few WiFi/Bluetooth ones are:

It also happens when using a Bluetooth game controller, the WiFi stops functioning properly!

[Q] Bluetooth Headsets

I haven't been able to get either of my Bluetooth headsets to work with my N7. But before anyone asks, yes, I have searched the forum for answers but there doesn't seem to be any consensus on how to solve the problems.
I have the stock 4.2.2 ROM, unlocked and rooted. Bluetooth sees and connects with both of my headsets, each of which work with my Mint 14 desktop, but the only sound I get is an occasional clicking noise. Pretty much as if all of the audio is being clipped. Also, once a headset connects, I do lose sound from the internal speakers, as expected. But disconnecting the Bluetooth doesn't get it back. I have to reboot to get sound back.
My question is this: Is my problem due to the N7 having compatibility problems with some headsets or is this a universal problem. IOW, does anyone have a Bluetooth headset connected where both the mic and earphone work? And with all or most apps? I'm primarily concerned with having something to work with MagicJack.
I use my bluetooth headphones to listen to music. I just tried using Google Now with it (I put my finger on the normal mic so I would know which mic it was using) and It seems to work okay. Idk if it is the headphone or the connection but it took me two tried to get it to play music.

I just oredered a new headset off eBay that claims to work with the N7. We shall see.:fingers-crossed:
I'd like to know which Bluetooth headsets are known to work and on what models of N7 (grouper or tilapia).
If I understand correctly, an N7 wifi-only (grouper), will only respond to Bluetooth headset button presses and voice input if you modify the bool.xml file in framework-res.apk? Can anyone confirm that any Bluetooth headset will work (button presses and voice input) on grouper without that mod?
I've used my Bluetooth headset with my tablet without any tinkering, i didn't do much with it but it easily played/paused and changed tracks in Google Music. I've got Kinivo BTH220 headphones (yes they're cheap and are probably knockoffs. These had more details than the Artics or any other lookalikes and they work well enough for my needs) and a rooted stock N7. Oh and if your headsets giving you trouble check the pairing type under bluetooth settings. My phone has a habit of sometimes only pairing phone audio not media audio.

My Sony DR-BT22 headset has always worked great with the Nexus 7 providing I do not use the Wi-Fi at the same time. I am using a custom ROM but they worked fine with the std one.
All the headset controls work as well, pause. volume, rewind, skip etc.
But I have never needed to use the mic.
There is an issue when using both BT and Wi-Fi together. Either popping and stuttering BT or greatly reduced Wi-Fi speeds and erratic connection.
I posted about it here, but got no response....

I'm using a set of Motorola s10 Bluetooth headphones on my nexus 7.
I'm currently on the paranoid android Rom.
They work great out of the box.
All buttons work, I haven't tried voice commands though.
One thing to look for is some headsets will only pair to one device at a time.
In order to pair them with another device you have to factory reset them.
My particular headphones allow you to pair with one device for phone calls and a second device for music only.
But beyond that they require a factory reset to pair with anything else.
So if you already have them paired to your desktop you may need to reset them before pairing to your nexus.

I have the same and they work. There was an issue with WiFi and Bluetooth at the same time. Try disabling WiFi and see if you have any better luck.
If you do, the only way I've found that corrects this is to go back to stock 4.1, relock, update to 4.2 normally, then unlock, flash cwm, and go back to your 4.2 custom rom. Nothing else worked.
I had troubles with Bluetooth headphones and controllers when using WiFi yet they paired and worked perfectly on my sons stock 4.2 N7.
After going back to stock and reflashing the same rom/kernel combo, it magically started working. Try that.
