Hi there.
I have a 4GB sd card for my SGS SC-02b. Whenever i insert it into the phone the message at the notification area appears saying "sd blank or has unsupported file system". I tried formatting it and tried to mount it but its not working, i m not getting any error message while mounting or formatting, its just not working. I tried reinserting the sd card but still the same.
Looking for some kind suggestions

Is your sdcard locked by that little plastic knob on your card?
what files system are you formatting with recommend you use this app to format externally in your computer with a card reader

thanks for the tip, its working great now
Well, its not working again. It was working for a while, then i had to root my SGS so i removed SD card, rooted my SGS and then reinserted Sd card, now its saying Damaged SD card you have to format it, when i format it, no error message appears and nothing happens and notification area is still saying Damaged SD card.
Any suggestions??
What brand is it, dont tell me its a unbranded one, or a cheap ebay one, it could be a fake one, use you pc to format it fat or use the sd formatter, when you put it into the phone, unmount it then format again using the phone before use.
I have a 32gb adata class 2, 32gb lexar class 10, and many 8gb and 16gb from kingston, toshiba and sandisk in class 2 to class 6, all works.
Connect phone with USB cable in mass storage mode .
Format the SD card then run scandisk/error checking on the card .

Hi , all something strange happened to my XDA II SD Memory card!!! , i was installing an application on the SD Card and i went to the SD Card to explore it searching for something while the XDA while installing but i couldn't see all my old files , when i check the memory status i can see that i am using 70MB if the 256MB but i can't locate the files.
can any one help.
I had the same problem with a Sandisk 256mb card.
I've found that it works fine with a Lexar 128mb card though.
So it looks like the XDA2 has problems with SD cards as well as a completely duff bluetooth implementation.

Man thats bad news, have you tried doing a soft reset.
Also if you have a PC card SD reader try running Scandisk on the
card.
BTW as you can see it not a good idea to access your SD card while
programs/files are being installed / written to it.
HTH
Sandisk
ok interesting , i am also using Sandisk 256MB!!!
i tried soft reset and it didn't help.i will try to find a PC reader and see if i can get anything out of it or i might try to use it on my brother XDA 1 because most of the files were used on my old XDA with PPC2002 rom.
Hurray, its not just me then. I have a 128mb dane elec card and 70meg has disapeared. Im not sure if anything was on teh card previously and I dont have a card reader to check. Its most annoying!
Storage Card slot kaput
I bought a brand new generic 2GB SD card and had it working for a day. It just wasn't working anymore one morning I have left my XDA II overnight on the cradle. Now it wont accept any MMC or SD card I put on it. Any idea what could have gone wrong?
When it was still working I tried copying media files on it (in Microsoft knowledgebase they confirmed in order for media files to work in storage cards you have to create My Documents folder did this on the several cards I tested but to no avail)
The storage card I bought was 2 GB, O2 site says XDA II has been tested on 1GB storage cards--could I have burnt my SD card slot?
Maybe the card brand was too generic-- but then I tried other branded SD and MMC cards after the day my slot stopped recognizing and it still didn't recognize Sandisk (512) and Leica cards (64MB)
The SD card in question is still detected if you put it in a card reader then connect it to a PC
Help badly needed, I'm losing so much productivity with very small storage/ROM space

Well, I'm using Kingston 2GB SD card and it works perfect... and it's a high speed card.
You may have your SD slot broken. My slot for example from time to time gets the card disconnected (let's say, every few hours), and I have to pull it off and put back in.
in a sdcard reader undelete tools from pc can recover files from sd cards as they can with harddisk
like undelte plus
Hi Chaps
Got probs with my 16gb class 4 micro sd card.
Bought an htc hd2 off ebay last week which came with the above card and winmo 6.5.
I wanted to test out WM7 which I did, didn't enjoy it so tried to get Android working.
Now I came across the 199mb problem which I fixed no probs but now the sd card will just not play ball in CWM. It says it makes the partitions but this is instant and should take a few minutes being a 16GB sd card. When I come to mount the thing it just error's and says cannot mount sd card.
I've tried doing a full erase using the samsung sd tool and that took over 3 hours to complete which is strange. I've also used the tool to create partitions which it does without any problems.
If I put the SD card in my fiancee's HTC Desire and mount and format it it works fine but when I come to mount it on my hd2 it still can't mount it.
I also have a 4GB micro sd card which is class 2 and this works perfectly with CWM both with partitioning and mounting.
I'm on the verge of snapping this card in half and buying a new one so before I do I thought I'd ask on here for any advice.
Many Thanks
Use Panasonic SD Formatter and format using that. Should work then. No even need for a full erase, but if you want you can, but not needed. It should recover the rest of the SD card.

Cheers for that, done a quick format and it finished but now windows won't read it. Just comes up with the message disk is not formatted do you want to format it now.
Is this normal?
No problem. Erm well I've formatted my 8GB class 8 using that and I've never encountered that problem. When your formatted did it come up that it was restored to 14/15GB? You might aswell go ahead and format it.

Duh me, I had to remove it from the laptop and back in for windows to pick it up.
Just tried mounting the sd as USB storage and I get the following error
"E:Unable to write to ums lunfile (No such file or directory)"
Trying to mount the sd card I get this error:
"E:failed to mount /sdcard (No such file or directory) Error mounting /sdcard!"
As soon as I put my 4bg sd card in and try to mount it it works straight away
That's very odd. I don't know very much about SD cards/memory so I wouldn't know what's wrong with that.
I think you're best off getting a new card as I think that ones maybe worn out.
I recommend you don't use ebay for sd cards, they can easily be poor copies, just buy them from a recognised store, Amazon or Play
Cheers for the help guys. Think I'll just stick it in the digital camera as that seems to work fine and buy a new one from amazon or play.
yeah.. dont ever buy memory cards from ebay...
i tried buying one 32gb microsd before..
my comp doesnt even detect it..
Not happy...
Today I tried my SanDisk 64gb sdxc card in my note 10.1... I've been using it in my 5.3" galaxy note for months. It mounted and read just fine in the Note 10.1, so I copied all the data off it, planning to use a 32gb card in my other note.
After I copied the data, I put the card back in the Note 10.1, and it said "blank card or unsupported file system"
To cut a long story short, the card is now corrupted and can't be formatted in either windows or the original Note.
So, if you're using this card in your original Note, DON'T put it in the 10.1!

Format it with FAT 32.
Ditto: format with FAT32, most SDXC cards are formatted ExFAT and that's not compatible with the Note 10.1. Use the tablet or a third party utility to format if you're a Windows user since Win7 wants to format using ExFat rather than FAT32 (Mac OS X can format large cards in FAT32). Drawbacks? FAT32 only supports individual file sizes up to 4 gigs per file.
I've tried formatting it, it's toasted. Windows disk manager says it's 30.6gb, but won't format it because it says it's write protected... Neither of my notes will format it, they both say it's blank, and when I try to format they say it's currently being checked... I even tried SD Formatter from www.sdcard.org, and it says the card is write protected...

this may sound kind of dumb, but if you use an SD card adaptor for your micro SD, did you check the lock slider on your SD hard? i was not able to format my microSD card on my note and was having the same issues with the write protect on my computer but i realized later on that my lock slider kept being pushed into the lock position whenever i slide my card into my reader. so, i unlocked it and carefully slid my card into my reader to make sure it doesn't lock. i formatted my card to fat32 on my computer using EASEUS Partition Master (http://www.partition-tool.com/personal.htm). it's easy to use and free. works great

I did the same, don't forget to set the cluster size to 32 for a 64gb card. Works great.

Yes, I've tried it in 2 different card readers. I just tried EASEUS Partition Master and it can't do anything with the card either, the system reports the card as 30.6MB unallocated.

I used the microSD to SD converter which came with my Sandisk and plug it directly into the notebook's SD slot.
I would say try another computer (or notebook).
After the latest update, the Note 10.1 reads and formats exfat SD chips just fine.
Ooooooo! THX just ordered one..

Ahhhhh, sorry, didn't know that ........ Hope You can save the card somehow .......
Good Luck
There have been a number of reports of broken 64gb cards that will only format to 30.6gb, check this http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s2-international/550328-64gb-cards.htmldiscussion.
I think that 30.6gb is what you normally would get from a 32gb card.

I've had same problem with sdxc but after firmware update SD works ok.
i've not had a problem with my sandisk 64gb sdxc card
I tosted a mounth ago my first 64GB SDXC the same day because I was not aware of what I should use and do to make it compatible with most devices.
First of all, the card is SDXC with exFAT, for that you HAVE to use an adapter compatible for that card, like Mobilelite 3G.
I put that card in my old card reader and after try to copy into the card a file ISO of 6GB the card crashed.
After that the card was not recognized.
Second mistake, I used not appropriate Software to format the card, from CMD in W7, Gparted Live, to many other.
You HAVE to use specific tools like FAT32Format or MiniTool Partition because this tools are made to do not delete the "Protected Area" which is needed to let working the card.
so,
step 1; Open the Blister Package and put the card into compatible SDXC Card Reader.
step 2; Format with FAT32 Format.
After that the card will work fantastically with ANY device and no complain at all.
Now I got my second 64GB SDXC formatter in Fat32 and my OLD HTC Touch Diamond 2 see the card with full capacity of 60GB!
Amazing! Right?
If its a new card you should have a warranty get it replaced.
I had a similar proble with a 16 gb card on my optimux 2x and from Sandisk itself. When I inserted it recognized and then the card was fried fortunately it was replaced by the seller in couple of days I still have the old card as they did not bother to take it back.
That time i thought it was a fake

Ok, so in this case you can do this way;
step 1; Open the Blister Package and put the card into compatible SDXC Card Reader.
step 2; Use h2testw to test the card if it's fake.
step 3; when you know is good format with the right tool.
They do not bother you to take the card back? Strange? And the second one is good?
i am using ics 4.0 on my HD2 . my sd card is kinston 8G class6 . everything was fine until a sudden freeze . then i removed battery to reboot HD2. it said damanged sd card . i insert sd card into card reader to connect to PC . PC does not recognize with a pop up warnning of format sd.

silly question time, but when i go to storage on galaxy s5 and press the option to mount card, it makes the sd card unreadable and corrupt and i have to format it if i want to use it again losing all data. should os not recognise that the sd card is already mounted and not try and force a mount on it? tried this a few times just to see and every time and kills the sd card.
Tried a different card? Maybe it's a faulty SDcard

Maybe youre formatting it wrong, dont put it as ntfs or anything, your bwst option would be fat32 or exfat or similar.
