Auto White Balance on Camera worse after replacement - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hello All,
I just got my replacement Bell I9000M pre-loaded with Froyo after my original died. I'm really happy with the new phone except for one thing. The Auto white balance on the camera, which used to be quite good, now doesn't seem to work at all. For ex in a couple rooms in my apartment with rather yellow fluorescent lights it used to correct them to a more natural looking white, now it does not change them at all.
I made sure the auto was enabled in the camera settings. Anyone else noticed this, or have any suggestions to fix it?
Thanks

Did you update the camera firmware? I got mine back with fresh JL2 yesterday and in Samsung Apps there was an 'app' there to update camera firmware. In my office right now the auto white balance looks OK.

I don't believe I have that option, do you remember what it was called in the Samsung App Market? I only Have Build your trip, star chart lite, snap n go, Kobo ebooks, Social hub push email, vlingo, robert parker, movies, and krazy kart racing.
According to Titantium backup, my camera fw is version 1.0

fed up of standard camera?... try camera360 pro

I like many on here was very disappointed with the quality of the camera, but thanks to the excellent guide posted on here it improved it 10 fold, but i decided to give a camera app a try anyway and looking through "htc likes" apps on My phone stumbled onto an app called "camera360".. I thought i'd give it a try as it gives you a free trial version (limited to just the basics).. and after a while (getting used to the many many options) decided to buy it, this is the first app ive bought for my dhd.. only costs $3.99 (around £2.69).. it had a handy paypal link so no messing about with my credit card etc.. if you pay with paypal it instantly becomes the pro version (it did for me anyway). They also send you an email with the file and instructions to make it the full (pro) version in case you have to do it manually or reinstall it (after a factory reset etc).It also says it gives you free updates when they're released. It has anti shake, effects, HDR, and loads more options i haven't got a clue what they all do yet! lol. The only "problems" ive had with it is although i can take 8mp pics it doesnt like me trying to take 8mp widescreen ones, and the zoom is slightly less than the htc standard camera, these may be able to be fixed by someone with more knowledge on the camera side of things. I havent got round to posting any samples but hopefully with starting this thread other people using the app will be able to post images on here (as i am a total newbie)..There are sites that gives a brief review of it (including sample pictures of the various effects available) I am unable to post the link to the review sites (as its only my third or so post). just type "camera360" in your search engine and read up on it .Like i said it works great on my phone, give it a try.. if ya dont like it just uninstall it (you have nothing to lose after all)
I have also installed the free version of cam360 and its got a ton more options than the standard camera, I will ave to try and take some comparisons - although someone with some more advanced knowledge of cameras would be better. The annoyances with 360 is the dodgey English throughout and a quite complicated interface, still use the stock one for now, just because its faster to start up, and with the guide on xda its not too bad.
I might upgrade if I can tell there is a solid advantage over stock app.

I've tried this a few days ago but I don't like the way this app returns non-accurate colors.
Cheers from my DHD.
Camera360 is really good.
Can you guys enlighten me how bad the camera is. I thought it is clear enough.

I just tried several versions including the latest 1.3 version of Camera 360 Pro and there is NO ghost setting/effect, how or where do you get it from as it is not in the list...
Hi..the ghosting effect needs to be downloaded (free)..its an add on, i think its on the apps store.. it puts images of ghosts on the pic (they look like the girl from "the ring" series).. you really have to look to see her though, its quite good how they put it in the pic..it randomly places the image on the photo.

I have Camera360 on my DX, and the app doesn't seem to focus in either of the focal modes I choose. Anyone else have this problem? Is there another way to focus?
In manual focus mode, I'll press the button halfway for focus, like in the regular stock camera, and a message appears informing me that the shot is now in focus and to take the picture. Only, it didn't focus. When I load the stock camera, and hold halfway, I notice how it takes about a second or two to focus, and the shot is much clearer than the Camera360 app.
It's really frustrating since I paid money for this, and I like all the features, but it doesn't focus!
I must be doing something wrong.

Okay, I fixed my issue. All I needed to do was uninstall and reinstall the app. Once I did that, the camera focuses like it should.
I tried it but it keeps force closing, i think i will remove and download again. Just to try it.

[Q] Camera and SD Card

Sup, ppl?
Hey, I have a new X8 phone (3 weeks old) and I have a major issue with my camera from day 1!!! It's all glitchy and blurry, with wrong lighting and i can't take pictures at all. Sometimes when I repair the update with PC Companion or SEUS it gets to work again, but after using the phone for some time, it bugs again, especially after playing Angry Birds (even for just once!!!). I have never rooted my phone, it's all original.
I had it repaired by the service center, they said they just ran a software update (and I had the latest version) and I don't know how all my apps were still on the phone (I never manage to do this, everytime I repair the update I lose all my apps, how can I keep them?). I searched the web for several hours and haven't found anyone with my problem. I have posted question on SE support forums and on their Facebook page, but no one seems to help me. I think I'm having this unit replaced.
Another thing is that I formatted my SD card, and I thought I could get the original content again, but I was wrong. I had the "music" folder backed up, but I don't have the "media" folder. I lost some of the alarms (like the "multi alarm" one) and the notifications. Can someone upload the media folder for me please?
Thanks for all the help.

What did u mean blurry? Maybe this phone does no come with an auto focus camera that why when you take picture will blur. Correct me if i'm wrong.
It's not exactly blurry, but it look horrible. For example if you edit a picture and you start messing with hue, saturation or color balance. The more you mess, the worse it gets. The display shows an bad colored looking picture and taking pictures does not work. Tried searching everywhere but can't find anyone with similar problem.
Can you post some photos? The best would be if you could put the phone fg on a table and take a photo without moving it at all. Cause to me it looks like either the camera itself is the issue or something wrong with software, if you're saying that when you mess with settings it gets even worse.

It's not that I can mess with the settings, the camera app doesn't have ANY settings to mess. The messing with settings exampled I used was about using a photo editor and try messing with the color levels or hue/saturation of any picture. My camera is displaying a screwed up image as if there was some color filter applied to it, someting that would react really poorly to lighting. Just like if you picked up a 16 million color picture with many gray colors (variant colors) and you converted it to like 256 colors, it would look really poor. That's the image my camera shows.
And did you try others apps for camera? Maybe there's something wrong with it. If not - go for warranty

It happens to any camera app.
I'm an IT guy and I know sometimes unexplainable things happen with hardware/software. Today when I woke up, when I was going to put the phone in the pocket for leaving home, it slipped and fell to the ground scattering parts all over (cover and battery). After rassembling it i thought: "Wtf? I'll try the camera!". And believe or not: it was working PERFECTLY. And is perfect to this very moment. Some problems just don't have a reasonable explanation.
Original SD Content
Now the only missing piece is the original SD content, which I happened to wipe out unadvertedly. I tried some undelete tools, but none found the data, and I probably already overwrote all the data with many backups that I made.
So, if anyone could be very kind to post me the media folder contents (with the alarms and everything) and also the pictures that came in the images folder I guess?
Thanks, ppl.

Camera setting keep changing?

Hello, I bought the AT&T S4 today and it's pretty great. I've been disappointed by the performance, but that is obviously a software issue that will be more than fixed with roms.
Anyway, one of my favorite features is the amazing camera; however, every time I exit the app, the camera settings change. This includes: Picture size (megapixels), flash, video stabilization, and others.
Is there any fix, (or change), for this? It is driving me insane xP

Help needed to fix camera and display brightness

Dear fellow xda members, I recently bought a OnePlus 6T as was tired of the Samsung's. I wanted something with more room to play so to speak. So I got myself the 6T. But I ran into 2 very annoying problems. The first one is that I cannot take video's and play them back. I am on OS 9.0.5. When I take a video of my kids and after that go to the gallery, there is a black square and when I want to play it, I get the error message "couldn't play video" . I can take pictures and view them. I installed Open Camera from the playstore and that app couldn't do anything. It only shows a black screen and won't take a picture or video.
The 2nd problem is that the screen is too dark a lot of the time when on adaptive brightness, is there a way to tweak this?
I really hope someone can help me with especially the video problem.
Just reporting that videos from both stock camera and Open Camera work great for me. Maybe you need to do a factory reset as it sounds like you have multiple issues with the camera.
As for the adaptive brightness I feel it is way too bright personally but do not know of a way to adjust it any. I have searched for any way to change it with no luck.

No blue light filter on Oreo

So me and my wife are pretty disappointed that there's still no blue light filter on the G4, she does a lot of night reading on it before bed so having the blue filter on Nougat (via night mode enabler by Mike Evans) was a big deal.
I was under the impression that Oreo was the first Android release that "officially" had a blue light filter feature, so I'm pretty confused about why it's not there other then the fact motorola probably doesn't genuinely care enough to add it.
But anyway, does anyone know of a way to enable it simular to Nougat? I can't find anything about it or I'm just missing it. I did see I'm not the only one looking for a way, so hopefully someone has an idea.

I'm having the same issue after updating yesterday to 8.1. No nite mode anywhere. So I googled and found what seemed like a reasonable workaround.... add the UI Tuner category to Settings by long pressing the Settings cog in the quick menu. However, I then found that did nothing. No UI Tuner, unlike when I had it on 7.0. The idea was to install the UI Tuner, then download Nite Mode from the Play Store.
So, I downloaded the UI Tuner from the Play Store, only to find it was weird. It didn't place an icon on my homepage or in Apps or the App Drawer. It was supposed to put the UI Tuner category in Settings under System, but it didn't. It did place a sort of icon on my homepage so I pressed it and got the UI Tuner list. However when I tested out a couple functions on it, they didn't seem to do anything. So, another feature Motorola decided to leave off the Moto G4 (I have a G4 Plus), the UI Tuner.
You might try these things and see if they work for you. Unfortunately they were of no help to me. I called Motorola, spoke to a 2nd Level Tech. He knew nothing about it and kept repeating my issue back to me as they like to do. So we scheduled a 3rd level tech to call tomorrow, who will no doubt tell me to factory reset the phone, which of course won't help and would be a lot of work for nothing.
I tried one of the 3rd party filter apps, but didn't like it. Guess I'll try a couple others.
