Well, I thanked you for your post, but what is it about? My 16GB μSD works perfectly (apart from a few reboots post-flash which I don't get anymore). Is there a problem with the card?

Many people can't use it,it's total failure for WP7 no reason why,i had big problems with it and now i got it sorted with no reboots or unlock stuck which was problem with most people using this card!

Any Success?

I am new to this, so please bear with me. I have a few questions regarding this process before I do it:
1.) Do I still need to do steps 1 through 9 if I have already flashed it and installed Windows 7 on it?
2.) If so, do I need to keep my SD card in my phone while I do this process?
3.) After completing this process, will the phone be able to read and "play" the files on the card? The reason I ask this question, is because I have pictures that I would like to have viewed, and music/videos that I would like to play, whenever I desire.
4.) Speaking of which, right now there is no option on my phone in which Zune can identify any other media besides what is offerered through Zune. Will this process change that option, or will another media player be downloaded to take care of this issue?
5.) In doing this process, will anything change in my already-installed, recently-updated Windows 7? I just updated my phone last week, and have tried to resolve several bugs since then so I've barely been able to enjoy it. I wouldn't want to do all these steps, and then have the same connectivity and speed problems that I have just resolved.
I know I could just go ahead and do the steps, but I just want to have some peace of mind before I start messing around with the flash process again. Plus, not to mention, you're one out of a few who seems to know that an issue with the SD card exists, so I just want to be sure.
Thanks ahead of time for your help in answering these questions.

i bought a tmo hd2 and use the stock sandisk 16gb card. all three win7 roms i have used have worked well.
only thing i'd reccomend is doing a format from mgldr and/or a factory reset

Personally I don't see why this process would help anything. I haven't had any issues with the sandisk 16gb card that came with my hd2, and sandisk class 2 is one of the most reliable cards to use with wp7 from everything I've read and personally tested.... but I have heard that some of the 16gb cards included with the hd2 are defective, that's why htc will replace the card if you call them and send the card back. But most sandisk class 2 cards work great... I've tested 6 or 7 sandisk class 2, and only one had problems with wp7. In general, wp7 is very picky with sd cards and you need a card with good random access speed, which is not rated or kept consistent by the card manufacturers. Some batches work great, while some batches of the exact same card but made a different day may not work.

Random Reset/Reboot/Reflash Problems causde by SD Cards??
After a whole 12 hours with no problems my HD2/7 re-set itself again.
Normally (at least 5 times yesterday) I'd reflash and start again, but after this mornings efforts (see post in SD Card Thread) I thought I'd see what else I could do.
>Settings >Region & Language >Display Language
The settings after the phone had reset itself were English U.S. This meant no apps, no accounts, no contacts, no memory card and no hope!!
I changed these back to English U.K. (selected during initial set up) and hit the restart link.
All apps up and running, all settings as they were before the random reset.
If you try this instead of reflashing, obviously change the language setting to what you set it to during initial set up i.e. your home country.
Anyone else having this problem might try and fix with this, let us know if it works for you.
The general consensus is that the reboot/reset/reflash issue is caused by slow or incompatible storage cards, I'm going to get a new one right now so I dont have this problem anymore.

All I had to do was flash to the radio version you provided and WP7 stopped rebooting randomly! You're incredible. Thanks.

Dude, you're a god. I had random restarts, until I did your method. Love you!

Hi, thanks for these tips, I'll try them, but first of all I use radio 2.12, because I can't manage to get the 2.15, the link provided on many threads of this forum is broken ...
Do some of you guys have another d/l source to get this radio ?
Thanks

Hi. New here. Done this magldr 1.12 and leo70 rom but my phone playing up badly after a lot of droid and 6 and other flashes. I can't install hardly any rom any more without it - ie: stock, wm6, android, wp7 rebooting constantly for no reason etc.
Done mtty and have bad blocks - about 16 and 16 reversed. done task 28 and task 28 55aa, and task 29 as read in other threads. tried everything with different radios, different nand droid. multiple wp7-hd2 installs. but still reboots.
Any thoughts? If go back to stock+spl1.66 and send back under warranty anyone know/think if they will fix it and/or replace it? they still have old sealed replacement hd2 stock or boards much? do they do diagnostics and look at bad blocks properly on warranty return? Even on stock-rom and stock-spl still does this reboot although not as much. Worried that stock-rom wm6 will "work" too well and they won't check blocks. What about task2a? etc? Any way to install wp7/magldr and partition right so no bad blocks counted in?
Thanks very much.

They will replace just flash stock rom and downgrade back to spl by using the hspl flasher, just select the spl. Call tech support and tell them it keeps rebooting and you reflashed stock rom 5 times. They will send you another hd2 and you'll be back in business.

Step by Step
First I am assuming you are an T-Mobile USA HD2 user.
Disclaimer: THIS WILL RESET YOUR HD2 DEVICE TO STOCK. NO HSPL
If not correct me.
1. www.tmobile.com/wmupgrade (Download the official rom from T-Mobile USA)
2. Once you have downloaded the file, extract the exe using 7z or WinRar. ( Right click on the file and click on Extract to ....) Downlaod Link Attached.
3. Reaname the Ruu_signed.nbh to LEOIMG.nbh
4. Copy the LEOIMG.nbh to your micro sd card, put the file in the root directory. (If the phone sits at the bootloader screen, try a smaller size sd card ex. 2GB)
5. With the phone off , hold the Volume Down while turning the phone on. Once you see the Bootloader sceen you can stop holding the buttons. ( Usually it will recognize there is a Flashable Image on the card, If not try again only this time let go when you see a Loading Message .........)
6. The phone will then prompt you to press Press power or some other button to flash.
7. Once your phone restarts go through the prompts if you want to click finish.
8. Put your device back in Bootloader Mode and Download HSPL3 (Attached Below) Next Put your device back in Bootloader Mode and Flash Magldr 1.12 & Windows Phone 7 ( Sure you know these steps, If not readme file included in the file)
9. Make sure the SD card you plan to use is in the device before you flash Magldr and Windows Phone 7. (Most are claiming a 16gb Sandsik Class 2 is working fine)
10. If you having restarts still, post what micro sd card you are using.
11. The problem lies with the Micro SD if you continue to have issues. ( Commong Windows Phone 7 issue)

tried all this, but to no avail. (on a europe htc hd2 512. 2.14.50.04 576 enabled. didnt do exactly as you stated but i did do the hd2 eur. equivalent of the steps) tried 2 microsd cards, the standard 2gb sd card that was in my phone package and a new Integral 8gb class 4 micro sdhc card. as soon as wp7 is flashed the phone reboots, magldr goes into 123456 gogogo! mode and shows dft splash screen. next, screen goes black and phone reboots. phone only loads wp7 1 out of 50 tries (avarage, went through the whole process of flashing, formatting, reflashing, etc. 6 times now) and suffers from random reboots (in sleep mode).
if you want to know how i flash leo70:
either from custom wm6.5 rom or stock wm6.5 rom:
boot in hspl2.08
run task29
flash magldr1.12
usb flasher mode
dwi.exe
>reboot<
magldr > 123456 gogogo!
dft splash screen
screen goes black
htc logo > magldr1.12 > 123456 gogogo!
and again and again until i get lucky and wp7 boots. i go through all settings, phone chevrons easily, phone installs everything easily.
phone battery goes empty/phone random reboots. and goes back into bootloop. when phone finally boots back into wp7 i might either have lost all settings (like a HR) or the phone has actually rebooted correctly and i can continue until the next random reboot. yay me.
any options? is it the microsd card? is it the flashing process? is it anything else i am missing? if it's the microsd card, i am getting an 8gb class 10 sandisk by wednesday so i can then try again. thanks in advance, i really like wp7 so i would love to be able to use it on my hd2.

This happened to me... I am on T-Mo US... i tried everyhting... all roms... hspl... stock... android... bla bla bla... but nothing worked...
and they replaced the phone for me... its your CUP i think... mine was doing it everytime i would turn on GPS or a location based service... If its been less then a year since you bought the phone it should be a free replacement... well for me it was... and if you have insurance... i dont know how its in EU...
My phone keep restarting all the time ....before i flashed new roms and didnt work. Then i took my battery out my phone and put it back and realized that the little hinges on the right side of the sim card was bended and face out so i pushed it back and place the battery correct and phone works perfect make sure you didn't bend the little golden hinges where you set your batter at
phone in wm6.5 (custom rom dutty's ml v12 dutch) > usb mass storage mode
format drive H: (8gb integral microsdhc card) standard settings. fat32 quick format. successful
task 29
successful
magldr1.12
successful
boot into magldr1.12
option 5: USB flasher
LEO70 dfi.exe
successful
reboot into magldr
12456 gogogo!
dft splash screen
screen goes black and phone goes into bootloop. wp7 boots after 6 retries
just in case this time the bootloop is an anomaly i change some settings in wp7 and reboot
once again bootloop. stop after 10 retries without getting into wp7. reverting to wm6.5 and keep searching for fix.
note: during full process 8gb microSD card was plugged into phone.
note2: phone did see 7.23gb of free storage space in settings>about
sadly this too did not work. figure it has to be the micro sd card?
edit: @nemo0405 do not have insurance, phone has always worked properly on wm6.5 never had random reboots nor did it have bootloops. phone was bought december 5th of 2009.
@that nicca it's not a power issue. in wm6.5 i do not have any problem with random reboots or bootloops.
edit2: have yet to try 2.15 radio in stead of my current 2.14. trying now.
result: sadly no changes in bootloop.
^^^ try it bend the 1 golden hing and sit the battery on it where it dont touch and put your phone on you gonna see your phone restarting every min .....i had that problem try it see if it works
Try to charge your phone straight 24hrs.that fixes the issue for me.

Go back and put the original stock rom back in, Then start again. You only need a 2gb micro SD. Dont know why everbody is using 16g? Its only used at booting in the Leo70 ROM. Use HSPL2 and change 2.08 to HSPL 2.08. Now put in the radio. I used 2.15.50.14. Now while still in bootloader mode, put in mgldr, and then when you see the menu, tab down to 5 and enter. once you have the gogogo and then Usb..Usb now flash in LEO70 rom. Now do you still have the loopy booty? If so, remove battery and re-insert. Looping stopped? If so go and set up the phone. If still loopy, remove battery again, now take out the sd card, put batt back in. Loopy stopped? If so set up phone. and if it sets up fully, then shut it down and put sd back in. If it goes loopy, then its the sd card. Make sure sd is formatted (FAT) before hand.
Let me know

After a task 29, flash first MAGLDR 1.11 then 1.12 ...or flash directly a stock rom. I remind that i read somewhere that MAGLDR 1.12 is an update of 1.11.
Remember too, that some sd cards seem to be incompatible with WP7. I have used a 16gb Kingston class 4 micro sd and an Adata 32gb class 2 sd card. These both seem to work. Check the thread about sd card compatibility, you might find your answers there.
Cheers...
If you phone keeps restarting AFTER you have installed NAND WP7 then your micro sd card is incompatable with Windows Phone 7. Most kingston and sandisk cards seem to work but generic and other brands can have problems which match yours. Reformatting the card wont really help, you need to get a sandisk card (you can pick up a 16GB card for about £18 on ebay) and it should work fine.
Remember though that if you use a new micro sd card that you will need to reinstall WP7 via Magldr as once WP7 has been flashed it sets up the card you have in your phone in a special way and therefore you CANNOT hotswap cards after that.

HI all. I am the OP and doing wp7 'hspl'/flasher/kitchen with other devs too; sorta know what I am doing (to a degree anyway, otherwise I pretend I know ).
Anyway THAT is what I am doing: it is being fixed at factory now: WARRANTY. No - they dont give out free phones - but 5 flashes story makes sense! I did this before even reading that post (told them did stock RUU many times). and yes, they should REPLACE your phone under warranty. also: no, not tmous and no, Sd card fine. Thanks for all response but tried everything mentioned here guys except 24 hours charge constantly. That I shouldve given a GO at least before sending in maybe. ???. Battery gets very HOT. (magldr!). battery pins are fine; done everything possible; incl task 28, 28 55aa, 29.
I even tried flashing with dwi.exe with 0kb partxx.bin files to 'clean' it as suggested here and even did task2a and recovered it with stock rom+spl (there are ALWAYS ways if you keep trying and never give up) and even done own JTAG!
Couldnt figure it out in the end as it just freezes/loops on DFT screen or ANY droid screen. Sometimes even reboots on SPL screen! dangerous hey!!!!!!!!!! (omg). even when watching cpu direct. ROM doesnt matter. multiple sd cards tried. either is BadBlocks, CPU, or contacts somewhere shorting maybe.
Ideas still appreciated PLEASE but they should replace it with new or at least new motherboard(+processor+ram) under oem warranty- thanks all. .

This works, but I didn't bother extracting the t-mos rom, I just installed it using the tmobile application that came with it.
I had 16gb sandisk (the one that came with the hd2) and I had no problems for 3 days. Before this I major problems pop up shortly after the first day.
Anyway, I just received my sandisk 32gb class 2, and I'm redoing all this hoping that it would work with this card as well.
Again Thank You!
Update: My 32gb class 2 Sandisk is running great!
Cheers!

[Q] hd2 does nost work at all

Hi i have a big problem. I tried to upgrade my Leo be flashing the new WP7. My previous ROM was NRG. After executing the RomUpdateUtility exe, however the phone rebooted, and NRG logo showed on the screen, and then nothing on. Hard reset also didn't help.
Did you check you have correct hspl and radio? Magldr wont start without 2.08.hspl and 2.07.50.x or higher radio.
and a task 29 followed by a stock rom flash should sort you out
The radio is exactly 2.07.50, i flashed it when i flahed the NRG rom few months ago. The HSPL version however is 1.42. as far as i could see it. Can i install a newer version of HSPL now when the phone is already dead.

The phone isnt "dead" , only your ability to read information before modifying your device.
All you need to do is put your phone into bootloader mode and then flash what ever you want, WM, HSPL, etc etc
a) Power dow phone.
b) Hold Volume down button (just "down", not "up" aswell)
c) Press power button once.
d) Wait till you get Tri-color screen and release Volume down button.
e) Plug in USB and flash rom.
Yea, as above.
Use hspl2 or hspl3 or hspl4, it makes absolutely no difference which, just be sure and only choose 2.08.hspl, nothing else will work.
wrong HSPL, wrong radio, i assume you dont have MAGLDR working given the first two points not correct, overall the post 2 above me is spot on, read, an if in doubt ask, you must have had some thoughts on what you were doing might not work given that you have not carried out any of the steps to install it, so read, ask then install or you will end up killing it one day!
Thanks a lot guys, especially to TheATHEiST. Everything is cool now, well not everything but... WP7 is already running on my LEO and as a matter of fact i am very nicely surprised. Still there are two problems: 1. WP7 cannot conect to the 3G network of my mobile operator in my country and the system does not recognize my 2gb SD card.

You have to set your APN manually. Check your carrier/mobile operator.
Yes, WP7 doesnt recognize your sd card. This is not a problem. This is how it works in WP7. That is why in the beginning (and maybe up to now), people complains of having difficulty to transfer file. You need zune to transfer your file.
Cheers..

The APN settings need setup, use HTC connection manager or manually add them in the settings>phone/cellular>add apn
as for you SD, im not sure what the above poster is talking about, his right in the sence that there is no SD file transfer ( there is but it takes a bit of fiddleing and only works on you PC) but i assume you are actually meaning your Windows phone doesnt have any storage available at all, i mean, windows phone doesnt see the card in itsself?
if thats the case then you have an incompatible SD card.
Right, before you believe all the fud on this forum about "confirmed compatible cards" let me tell you there isnt any confirmed cards. unless you can find one of these at&t WP7 branded cards.
anyhow, that is unlikely, so its luck, class 2 and class 4 are about is good as the advice is going to get, your just as likely to have issues with Sandisk as you are a supermarket own brand, so buy what you can afford but dont expect it to work, even if it is detected you may have issues with it, random reboots, wifi not working, lagging, etc, but once you get a woring card it absolutely flys!

Mate,
What I was trying to say is that when you flash and boot wp7 with your micro sd card inside, it will format and create a partition such that you cannot see it via windows explorer or any other file explorer apps. You cannot transfer the file from your PC to your HD2 (with WP7 installed) via copy and paste. You need Zune to transfer the files.
You still can see the partition created by WP7 in your micro SD card, using partition manager/tools in your PC. You can search in the WP7 subforums
Cheers

[Q] Last Try ! I'm sick and tired...

I've got a HD2 just to try wp7. After some careful reading manages to install, and it was booting and used the basic features for couple of hours without any issues, until i wanted to try out maps,,,, The HD2 got stuck and went to a boot loop.
After checking so much for the one and a half day (I'm so tired and sleepy) i'm sick of this phone. I ve seen many posts regarding this issue, but no one seem to post a clear answer that rectifies the issue. Yes i've tried task 29 and gone back to wm 6.5 as well. Anything else i'm missing here.
If i keep the battery off for about 10 mins or so then it boots up properly, but not all the time. I cannot use any most of the features, only texting and calling. If anything else is launched (IE, People, A/C config...) goes back to the boot loop. WTF
Pls guys help me. well i'm a complete nOOb for this and sorry for the long post.
I am by no means an expert here, but have you tried a different SD card? When I first flashed my HD2, when WP7 was first available for it, my SD card was incompatible and it was constantly rebooting. Some SD cards are incompatible with WP7, even the ones that originally shipped with the HD2.
I know how you feel... that's exactly what happened to me. OMCA1A's right, Try a new SD Card and you should be good to go.
Which method you use ? Zune or 1 shot install
Did you have wp7 on hd2 before trying to install This rom? Was the sd card working?
Did you unlock/ reformat sd card or install straight over?
as already mentioned it can be the SD card and is most likely the SD card in your case, how you install it, cabs or zune or whatever doesnt make the slightest difference, anyone using any card that is not certified to work with WP7 stands the risk of running in to the restart issue.
it might not happen today, it might not be next month or even year, but potentially the restart issue can rear its head when xx% of storage space free is hit
i say xx because it could be anything from 1 -100.
Peronally i find that dumping a few hundred meg of music on gets past these dodgy areas, like just now, if i remove 12MB of data from my device it will start restarting, i can replicate this, if i do a reflash i have to install at least 200MB of music before doing anything, 600MB on top of that i get more restarts so dumped another 200MB of music, installed navigon, restart issues, install 50MB of music all fine again, that its a pain in the arse but its workable, it just means i have a lot of music i will never listen too on my device
Sorry I seriously gave up on my HD2 and was using my sisters old LG phone (Sucked big time ) Yes OMAC1A I have tried 4 different SD cards, so I doubt it’s the SD card.
Moschino02 What do u mean by Zune or one shot install ? I installed the normal way here are the steps I did.
Did task29
Installed latest radio
Installed MAGLDR
Then the wp7 ROM bu running a DWI.exe
Well after I got tired I did install it over and over and over. Yes the cards were working fine on my x10i
dazza9075 The SD I used was empty.
Also guys like I mentioned I only cannot use any of the smart phone features, if I get in to maps or IE or any other task which consumes a lot of CPU, it happens.
I will try one more SD card cos u guys insist and if it doesn’t I’m seriously gonna sell it off for scrap if u want let me know it’s gonna be dirt cheap I can’t tolerate this anymore.
Also one more thing guys, i've tried android as well, a 2.2 desire ROM and a MIUI ROM. Some times it gets stuck on start up it self or on the initial setup. That to me doesn't sound like a SD card issue.
Also it overheats
You tried with Sandisk class 4\6 SD cards, right? Cuz those are the only ones that have a decent chance of working.
Overheating of the HD2 is a common problem, saw many of these phones being sold on ebay with that problem...
I have the same problem... Still trying to fix it... But I know the problem comes when the phone tries to access the SD card (sandisk).

So after you install wp7 rom by running dwi.exe ( you mean v2native rom, right?)
What did you do? Did zune find updates to mango? Or did you install mango by sending cabs? What version are you on?
Moschino02 - Yes it says,
Name: HTC HD7 T9292
OS Version: 7.0.7392.0
Also i have tried other ROM as well, did not have any luck. Even at this very moment it goes through a boot loop. Just tried accessing HTC hub and it went off.
After installing sometimes it reboots or i have to manually do it by removing the battery or a by a soft reset. Yes zune finds updates but i cant update. When the rebooting point comes it never reboots to the OS just goes to a boot loop. *@#^&%$
I have used the following,
Verbatim 2GB micro SD
Unbranded 8 GB Micro SDHC
Kingmax 2GB Micro SD
Sandisk 4GB Micro SD
and none of them worked.
jinge - I dont think so. Initially i thought the same. And i removed my SD card to see but the problems kept continuing.
IF its a SD card incompatibility issue the HD2 should work fine with android. It boots only up to the initial start up screen doesn't go beyond that. MIUI is the closest i got but that too gave problems.
I'm seriously sick of the hd2 guys and i hate it i wish i could show it to you'll.
This has to be a hardware fault. IS IT ????????

[Q] HD2 and replacing SD, what must be done

Earlier this month took the leap from my original WM6.5 to WP7 Ultrafruit rom. And I love it. However my SD is kind of slow and it makes my phone reboot on occasion. I have bought myself a new SD card to replace it. I am a complete noob when it comes to these things so I have no idea what I need to do to avoid problems? I am humbly asking for a step by step guide telling me the things I need to do. I am also wondering if I can use my Live activation code again within the same month, or do I have to wait? ... or is it required at all? Thanks in advance....

Well i have struggled with this too. Simply formatting the new card to FAT 32 and inserting it doesn't work.... I've tried.
I also believe that as of rom 7403 ( if i remember correctly) an SD card has to be installed during the flash/ install process which kind of suggest the OS grabs what it needs and relies on it!
There may be a way to format it so it is accepted but there are all manner of issues with brand /type/ speed of micro SD cards around, so my best advice would be to back up your data and re flash to the latest rom with the new card installed. If you are happy with the ROM you currently have you can also insert the card and do a hard reset ..but all of your data and apps will be lost.
I have used my activation code on 4 separate occasions ( while i was trying out different roms) and haven't had a problem so far.
Reading many posts on the subject has led me to believe that the code is usable on up to 5 devices but to be honest i've never tried this out.
Good luck
Some sd cards are simply incompatible and/or cause problems in wp7. There is a thread that lists all known usable/problematic/unusable sd cards. From what you have described you have a card that falls into the problematic category. (edit) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=912904
After you get a card that is proven to work you will need to reset phone (settings, about phone, reset) your activation code will work FOR YOU as many times as needed. If someone else on different hardware uses your code that's when you/they will have to wait the required time.
Cheers
just make an image file of your Old card to the new one & it will work fine, the problem is the size.
One time I managed to image my 8gig to a 16gig card leaving an unpartitioned 8gig BUT somehow I managed to move it using easeus to merge with the android partition & now i'm trying to replicate it but somehow I cant

[Q] SD card Not Showing - Ultra Noob Here :S

Received my first HTC through the post yesterday and joined the site in an attempt to run android. I know nothing and there's an overwhelming amount of information on this site so just need someone to point me in the right direction.
Used this and followed instructions carefully: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957652
My problem is after running clrcad.exe and haret.exe, the phone reset after a grey screen. Looked like it went well but now the SD card has disappeared from the file explorer and windows when connected through USB.
Any help appreciated, just want to get the SD card back up so I can format it and so on. Thanks.
I take it by the lack of replies that this isn't a common problem. It's kind of put me off trying any new ROM's as a simple procedure like this can't even go straight. Will have to stick with Winmo then
Im not quite sure anymore, but i dont think you are able to mount your sd as long as you use sd builds. I dont know if this is changing with an ext partition on your sd.
Just check out the NAND section. Its installed on your internal memory and not running from sd. WinMob will be fully deleted and replaced with Android, so first do a backup of contacts etc!!!
If you do not need WinMob for any kind of apps for work etc which arent ported to Android yet (which i dont think there are much NAND is the best solution for you.
Started like you with sd build 2years ago, too. But switched to NAND as soon as it was stable.
Now it is almost perfect.

How did you get the card to show again? Or did you buy a new one?
Just a thought, have you tried a soft reset? Switch phone off Take back cover of and press little red button for a few seconds, put cover back on reboot into android
Also make sure your SD card is formatted to 32kb (slow format)
