skydrive? - Focus General

does anyone have problems uploading to skydrive.i keep getting an error we cant upload pictures right now.try again later.some people have done a hard reset and said it worked but i dont want to lose my apps that i purchased.i wish their was a program to backup up everything including text and other stuff like i was able to do on my rhodium.

Mine does it too. I haven't tried anything to fix it except re-sync my MS Live account, which did not work. When it happens to me I just email myself the pictures.
You are right it is kind of annoying and I can't explain what is going on.

hard resetting your phone will not get rid of your paid apps.... all you do when you reset the phone back up is set the phone up with your windows live account again and go redownload them. It will say "buy" click it and it will say you've already paid for it.
on a side note. My wife and BOTH have the focus and we use our family account as the primary windows live account on the phone. She bought a whole bunch of apps and I had to hard reset my phone... when I did it went ahead and installed all the apps she had purchased onto my phone.... I dont know if it would work with stuff she has downloaded after I initially set up the phone again that second time. I dont want to be dinged buying an app I wouldn't use anyway but, it was pretty surprising to see her paid apps on my phone working fully.

Phone asked for google pass then kinda crapped out. Can I get my contacts back?

I'm using whatever the latest version is of JF's rom. I'm not exactly sure what happened. My phone said it couldn't log into google, and some box came up asking for my password (it wasn't a pop-up from the browser). It wouldn't send so I restarted the phone. It then went to the initial startup screen you see when you first get the phone, so I put in my name and pass and it started up. Everything seems to be alright, but my contacts are gone. I tried the import from sim option but there's only the defaults in that.
I've been using the JF rom for at least a month now with no problems and haven't done anything that I don't normally do that would cause the phone to crap out.
Every now and then I go into applications and clear out the junk the phone stores up for things I don't even use (any way to remove "myfaves" by any chance? I don't have any "faves" and don't want any "faves"). If I clear the contacts option, does that delete my contacts? I might have done that by accident, although this was way earlier when I first woke up. Either way my phone just crapped out so I'm hoping it's not on its way to becoming a paper weight.
Help, please?
Log into your GMail account and you can check to see if your contacts are still present there.
Oh wait I got it!
I selected all in gmail, move to my contacts, and turned on auto sync on my phone. I thought there was a way to manually sync like with gmail in case you don't want to run your battery down for no reason. Now I just have to sort through all the auto-added emails and delete them and I'm set, at least until the phone has another near-brick experience.

Will I lose my apps?

I have the option of returning my hero due to a 'dead' pixel. What happens to my apps? When I setup the new phone with my google account, will it know what apps I've downloaded? Not worried about 90% of them, I can just make a list and download them again, but I put CoPilot on earlier in the week thinking they wouldn't agree to replace the phone. Don't want to lose that, a £25 app!
yes, it will know.
Your apps are linked to your account, NOT to the phone.
This has been discussed before and you will be fine.
You may have to contact Co-pilot to tell them you have replaced the phone, so ask for an email from whoever is replacing it just to back that fact up.
but no, you'll be fine.

Co-Pilot you need to deactivate it from your phone before you send it off, then you can re-activate it.
Am I right in thinking the market place only remembers your paid apps? I signed into a second phone and thats all it remembered, all the free apps i previously downloaded I had to do again.
it remembers the paid apps across phones, but not the free apps.
free apps are linked to your account, but only seem to re-appear on the same phone. they also disappear if not re-installed when market is force stopped or has it's cache cleared.
Thanks for the replies, you were right.
I sent my phone back to mobiles.co.uk on friday, this morning I collected it's replacement from the post office. I emailed copilot last thursday explaining the issue, I didn't receive a response but copilot stopped working on friday morning.
I am in the process of setting up the new phone now, I've added my google account, when I went to market and my downloads, copilot is there, its currently downloading again. Very slick.
I made a list of all my other apps, I will now add them back on and I should be back to where I was last thursday. Excellent, no dead pixels either, bonus.
you also can use ATRO File Manager with the build-in app-manger (or download the app-manager itself) to backup evervy app (the .apk files) to your SD Card. If you reset your device, or change it, you can afterwards just reinstall all the apps fromt the sd-card!

How can I unsynchronize my gmail with my G1?

I'm going to guess it is with a hard reset, but I don't want to mess with all the apps I downloaded. I was able to delete all my contacts so it is fine, but I'm thinking it might automatically sync up with my gmail and download my contacts or erase my contacts online after I sell the phone. What are my options?
or maybe I can set it to a different gmail, but how do I do that? Or maybe it is really simple, just change the password on my gmail account, that should work right?
Ok, changing my password worked, but now it seems to be stuck on asking for my password, but not giving the next person the option to change accounts, or how can I manually change it to a different gmail?
if you want to remove your details before selling the phone, try a factory reset. or you can go into the google app data in the applications management and clear the data there.
Yeah, I was able to clear all data, but was just concerned the phone would have my gmail password and access my data again so changing the password worked. It just got stuck asking for my password when I pretended to want to add phone number by syncing. I'm rebooting now too see what it asks for now.
But I guess there is no way to connect it to another gmail account without doing a factory reset? Doesn't a factory reset eliminate all the programs I installed that are non market? I can reinstall, but if I sell it to a noob they might have a problem.
Are you rooted? If so, there should be a setting in the development app to unsync with google. (I might be wrong though, deleted the app, lol).

AFAIK, that's a deliberate feature so that you can't pay for an app on one account and sign in with it on multiple phones, then unsync and keep the apps (thereby stopping people from getting apps from their friends for free).
Dude wtf? Just do a hard reset and it will ask you to log back into google. As long as you DON'T log back in, what on earth makes you think it's going to sync your contacts back up?

WTF r3s-rt!! wanna make something out of it, hehe jk. I guess you weren't reading the posts. It was already taken care of with changing my password in the edit. Also, I'm guessing you're a noob and don't realize a hard reset will put it into it's factory settings and I specifically said when selling it, I didn't want to give them a phone with nothing on it. It's all set up with wifi tether and a bunch of other cool things. I'll let the new buy purchase and decide what they want to do. Also, yes if just deleting all the info and not changing my password, but leaving it linked to my google it would indeed sync to my gmail if the new user so chose. I killed to birds by simply changing my gmail password. Of course it wouldn't sync after doing a hard reset, wtf!! geez

Most Rom's let you skip the signing google part, but it wont let you download anything from the market so you can install via adb

Will the new user not therefore be able to use their own Gmail without losing the apps you installed?

Gmail wont sync after root?

So I successfully rooted my phone, removed abunch of bloatware, like verizonbackup, friendstream, tweeter, flickr, and a few others. but now my gmail wont sync automatically, i have to manually refresh my inbox, it doesnt seem to be "pushing" new messages to me and its getting very annoying. Is anyone else having this problem?
I think we will start seeing more and more of these issues as people root the phone and/or remove apps that they think are "bloatware".
Did you try removing and re-adding your gmail account?
I just completed rooting my phone this morning, but only removed City ID. My gmail is working normally, including giving me new mail notifications as soon as emails come in. Maybe you deleted something you shouldn't have deleted.
As an aside, why did people hate City ID so much? I deleted it because everyone else was, and because I wasn't using it, but not really sure what it does.

If you removed the verizon backup assistant you have to do a factory reset, meaning wipe all your data, this could be your issue. I seen somewhere else saying you have to do a factory reset once you remove that.

It nags every 15 days and wants $2.99 a month fee. It is useless since all it does it tell you what the city and state is associated with the caller's area code and exchange. Most everyone knows the local area code and exchanges. if it was a one time $2.99 maybe, but $2.99 a month they are crazy.

I agree. That would be irritating as hell. I have only had my phone for 3 or 4 days, so I hadn't seen any nag screens yet. Now hopefully I won't!

Oh, you will I think the cost is outrageous too, especially since all the program is doing is checking the XXX-YYY-0000 against a data base, where X is state and Y is town.
As for the OP, just go into Applications menu and clear your Gmail and Gmail Storage cache. We used to have a similar problem way back in the dark ages of 2008 G1, when rooted owners would immediately uninstall the Fave 5 application Tmo so kindly put on there, which would immediately erase all Cloud contacts AND break sync
I performed a factory reset after removing everything I didnt want, but I think I read in another post that it might have something to do with friendstream.apk, does anyone happen to have this and can host it somewhere? I'll try removing and readding the email account.

Same here.....looking for the friendstream.apk. On a side note, don't install the friendstream.apk for the evo, as it put me in a nasty reboot loop.
I too am having this issue, but it is only happening to one of my two gmail accounts, one pushes fine but the secondary account I have to manually refresh to get my email. I haven't removed any bloatware from my phone.
Count me in... Neither HTC Mail nor gmail are auto syncing on their own. If I turn OFF then back ON the auto sync (via the power widget) they sync, but any futher emails are not working.
This is on the leaked 2.2 for me

Can't send or recieve pics through text...

For some reason I can't receive or send pics through my text messages anymore on my EVO Shift. It used to do it just fine but for the past month or so it wont do it. I went to Sprint and the CSR tried to update a few things and even tried to send a pic to me from her phone and it wouldn't do it. She said I need to take it to a repair store... but my phone isn't broken!! I have never dropped it, never scratched it and have never had it near water.
I run Lookout (free), JuiceDefender (free), Launcher Pro (free), FW (free) clock widget, Apps2SD, Some icons I downloaded from this site, and that's pretty much it. Everything else with this phone is working flawlessly and I have no problem getting pics through my mail on the phone. The Micro SD card was upgraded a while back from 2gig to an 8gig. Any experts out there that might know what's going on? Do I need to remove some apps?
I don't know why juice defender?? The Shift has a great battery as it is.
No need for such apps.
I got the feeling that it is juice defender what is causing your troubles since usually those apps shut down your data services to save battery.
Try resetting everything to default on juice defender and get rid of it.
I have only had Juicedefender for like 3 days, the issue has been ongoing for a month or more sadly

What about a data reset??
I had the same problem bro. A factory reset fixed the issue.
I think I will do the reset tonight... I need to back up all of my phone numbers though and sprint said this phone wont do it. This was an odd statement to me because when I upgraded from my Samsung Instinct S30, all of my contacts were in this new phone and all they did was activate it... no sync or hooking it up to anything.
Ugh... Well the Data Reset worked... I can now send pics through MMS. However I have lost all of my contacts. Oh well... time to start fresh lol.
UPDATE!!
Accounts and Sync... Sync your google account and BAM!! All contacts are back!
That's why I always export my contacts to my SD card. Keep that in mind
Sent from my PG06100 using Tapatalk
Same issue here. Has been ongoing for some time. I've heard turning off WiFi while sending pictures works and it seems to be hit and miss.
This happened on both CM as well currently on MikShift. Also with GoSMS and default messaging app

At the time I was unaware that Gmail and my phone was linked like that... I am glad though, now I won't hesitate to do a factory reset if something messes up again. Also, I talked my girlfriend into an HTC phone... she got the EVO 4G in white. She loves it.
