I personally feel that it's a good practice to to a task29 prior to flashing a new rom on the phone. Task 29 erases everything on the nand, including magldr. That's why you have to reinstall magldr after doing a task29.
As to which rom to use, that depends on you & on your phone. Do you prefer Sense or not? Do you want everything to work, or are you okay with some minor issues to get the latest and greatest? Do you need any special language capability built into the rom? Do you have a LEO512 or a LEO1024?
I personally prefer the DesireHD rom. The rom I'm using won't fit on the LEO512.

There is no need to perform a Task29 before reflashing. It does no harm though.
I agree with dipaolnv, it is a matter of choice. But, he is slighly mistaken, I have a LEO512 and am using a totally stock DesireHD ROM. That is where ext partitions come in to play
There is lots of information here to get to grips with, take your time and have some fun

Yes, there are a few roms that have the ext partition on the SD card to allow you to have a "stock" DesireHD on a LEO512... I was thinking that but never typed it . Thanks for mentioning.

Personally I'd say it's not a good idea to do task29's when you don't have to. Your NAND chips have a certain amount of read/writes i their usable lifetime. It's a very high number, granted, but there is a limit.

i prefer to have sense and that everything work i'have tried cyanogen gingerbread but i love making 720p videos and so i'm returned to mdj froyo version
anyway thank i understand some thing ... another question i didn't understand too much about the ext partition there a guide but it doesn't explain why i have to do it . if you can help me also on this point
and what about wp7?

Now i have got 2 htc hd2 in my hand. the mine is brended my friend's one is no brend .... why with the same android built his hd2 is faster to wake up and ecc ? Is a problem of brand ? How can i fix it ?

Best ROM to install on HD2

Hi
I will be getting an HTC HD2 in a few days and I am planning on loading the Android Froyo OS, and will be using it as my main system.
But looking through all those threads, I am stuck as to where to begin.
I need to find the latest and best NAND ROM for the HD2, since I intend to do all this hopefully just one time.
I would appreciate any guides that would get me rolling in the right direction.
thanks
Personal opinion
Hi,
I have tried many ROM till now, infact mostly all the ROMs. The best for my purpose ( since I am a heavy user ) is HyperDroidGingerbreadV1.2.
Benefits:-
1. Tweeked
2. Super Speed
3. Battery saver
4. Nice UI
5. Very responsive.
PS: Do give it a try.
I suggest you go to the forum and just read. You will find lots of tutorials on how to install and tweak the roms. You will find multiple roms and each has unique features. What I have done, and what I suggest for you, is just tried a bunch of different roms to see what works best for me. Try them all and see what you like the most. Part of the fun of having the HD2 is all the different things you can do with it.

This question/topic is frowned upon on XDA simply because its asked over and over again and there is no real answer as its subjective.
What is "best" for one person isnt always "best" for another and you may experience problems that another person didnt on his hardware.
There is no point in just asking what is the best one to install, The best thing you can do is to go read some guides etc, research as much info as you can and then try various roms until you find one that you like best or works best for YOU.
Do I need to still have windows on the phone to be able to install Android, or can it be done on its own?
Depends if you're installing a ROM or NAND.
ROMs install on your media card and require WinMo to boot the phone, NANDS replace WinMo.
Note that ROMs and NANDs are located in different sections of the forum.

You can install SD builds or NAND builds. SD builds are just copied to your SD card and you boot them from within Windows, but NAND builds replace Windows. Both types of build are ROMs.
I would prefer the NAND ROMS. I really don't like windows at all.
Can't find the guide to help me do the NAND install.

Nay, dear sir. A ROM refers to software flashed to internal memory, whilst a build refers to software installed on an SD card.
Unfortunately a lot of people ignore or are not aware of this convention, but it's a pretty important one to prevent confusion.

Thanks for the correction, but actually ROM is the chip that the build is flashed onto (in the case of NAND). They're all builds, regardless of location
We could be stuck in an endless debate here, because these terms have different kinds of meanings. ROM is also often used as an abbreviation of ROM image, i.e. a image of the firmware on a read-only memory chip (ROM chip). This means that it would be valid to call NAND firmware ROM, and invalid to call SD firmware ROM since it's not meant for read-only memory.
While strictly speaking it is indeed correct to call NAND firmware a build, there has been made a convention (I suppose this is HD2 specific) to keep them seperated.

Casemandan, did I miss something? I have been browsing the JDMS thread for a few days, but don't see how it is "T-Mobile ready." In particular, I'm looking for MMS that comes in the same quality as the sense T-Mobile ready builds. Read a few tips but quality is still sacrificed upon receiving for all gingerbread ROMs I've tried.

Hello and thanks to all.
According to title of this thread , I need a NAND ROM which has a file manger and support Persian language.
Any suggestion ?
Best regards.
To my opinion is it to wait for a stabe gingerbread or (maybe) Honeycomb NAND rom, isnt it?
Thank mate...
i think best rom for hd2 is cyanogen mod7 v2.6 that is android 2.3.2
I like the MIUI build. It has a few hiccups, but great. Love this than the other builds.

NAND ROM

What is the NAND that you guys thinking that is very fast and stable for daily use, and also working everything?
Instead of running Android as a dual boot off of the sd card as was the case up until 31 December, running Android off NAND (internal memory) overwrites winmo so you can run it as the only os on your phone. It's not perfect but I prefer it to winmo (IMHO ). You can read the rom threads where the devs tell you what works and what doesn't, but apart from 720p video recording pretty much all else works. Try a rom out and if you don't like it, flash back to winmo.

Tastes vary, but you can find the link to the rom I'm using in my signature. I'd wait a few hours though as Sergio is bringing out an update which the test team claims is going to be awesome.

The answer is easy, there no such thing as without a single issue. Even a real android phone have flaws. Hardware, software, and carrier, somewhere between them someone always messed up something. Now between those 4, if you like pure android with the latest update is tytung's ROM. With a little more style out of the box is HyperdroidGBX.

yes, but first, wipe/format, when in cwm you must wipe data to install new rom, and everything is the same.
so when in cwm i will
1. wipe data factory reset
2. wipe cache partitions
3. install zip from sd if I have all of my radio's and SPL's installed for the ROM
Correct me if im wrong.

Hi,
Once you get used to the process,it's very easy to change ROMS.
It all seems daunting to begin with, but if you read up well,it's fairly simple...
I never had a regular android phone,as I have come from WinMo.
But I've made my HD2 into an android phone and it's easy switching ROMS.
Read the thread I gave you and number 2 in my sig...
Enjoy
i have tried all the "fast" roms but i feel like HD2 CoreDroid DHD V1.6 EU&TMOUS[SKINNED&TWEAKED] is fast and a bit more stable and if you want a build without sense then i really like CME DHD2 Compact v1.6[Superlight][NoSense][RAFPIGNA 1.9OC]

You can try without wipe cache partitions. Only step 1. and 3. and reboot, and remmeber for unwritten rule, that always after complete FIRST boot, you POWER OFF and POWER ON your phone. IT will make things better. But not *reboot*
thanks

2.yes
2+. Nand is faster. But if you want to have dual boot, use SD Android.
3. Install SPL 2.08.HSPL, Do Task 29, Flash RADIO 2.15.XXX, install MAGLDR, Install WP7 or Nandroid. If you want to have Winmo 6.5, you dont need MAGLDR.
4. Yes. I think

Easiest upgrade from original HD2 Android?

I need a simple upgrade from the original HD2 Android 2.2 to a stable 2.3.x version.
Can anyone suggest one? (This is not a "which is the best ROM" request.)
I just want one that is the simplest and working out of the box to flash from the original MGLDR 2.2 Android on a TMOUS HD2. I'm flashing for an older friend for whom I installed the original some time ago, and he asked me to help him get Gingerbread, and I'm a little 'out of the loop' on the HD2 Android developments and particulars, so a simple flash is best. Is there a simple CWM flashable version for TMOUS that doesn't need to manually mess with partition prep, etc.?
Stability is more important than bleeding edge in this case, so any 2.3.x build is fine.
Thanks for any suggestions you might have.

If you're looking for a sense rom, I'd suggest going with one of the dhd roms (You'll have to use usb flasher to get the partition on), otherwise the simplest would be either:
This -> NexusHD2
This -> Typhoon CM7
or This -> HyperDroid CM7
These three roms need less system space than sense roms, so if you don't mind having a lot of empty space in your system partition, all you need to do is flash the zip using cwr.
My personal recommendation is the Typhoon Rom (2nd rom), it's very stable and up to date. Also, you can use either Titanium Backup/MyBackup apps to backup the phone's current apps.
I would recommend HyperDroidCM7v3.1. It's android 2.3.5 for both cwm and magldr. When I found it I stopped searching, and I am never gonna try anything else! (well, maybe. But you know what I mean hehe )
