Which SD card works best? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

So I just washed my iTouch on accident, and I don't feel like dropping a few hundred ok another. I feel like buying a massive SD card to put tons of music on.
What is the largest functioning SD card that works on an HD2 running Android?

32GB HC's are the best. At least for me.

Cut the BS!! You know your getting it!!!!!

Im getting this phone!
Wow no 720p recording.....I want to know the person thats going to hook up their phone to an HD tv and watch captured videos(unless your a stalker thats a diffrent story)
No micro SD slot.......stop putting porn on your phone!!! Thats why google put a real browser with flash on it!! Oh and man 16 gigs isn't good enough on a phone?
No Dual Core!!!!!....Its a phone OS on a 4 inch screen!! are you trying to run a port of PC Crysis on the thing!!(when if honeycomb comes to phones maybe. but thats about a year from now in which I bet another Nexus will be out)
Im getting It and I bet a bunch of nay-sayers will too come Dec. 16.
Who else is cuttin the bull and getting it??
enjoy your nexus emo banana phone
i think youre a little outta control...but im getting it. its an upgrade for me from N1. i never have a phone as long as ive had the N1, im due to get a new toy.
my company pays my bill so i can buy it, and if something drops in a few months that much better, ill buy that then too. its not a big deal.
Sorry as soon as I read the complaints I thought of all the funny things of why people would want those things on their phone =D

Why take **** out when it was already their in the first place
All these missing features were already on galaxy S phones and shouldn't have been removed
BTW i have 16GB on phone and 16GB on my external SD and its combination on nandroid, titanium, ROM back-ups/ custom config files/ Themes /720p MKV/AVI movies/ Gameloftgames/MP3s/PICS/PS2, SNES..ect roms/Sub directories for programs all this crap adds up
....Sorry no porn
Sure you dont need all that stuff on hand but its quite covenant not to have to hook up to PC all the time to move **** back and fourth to make space
But yea i could probably manage fine with 16 GB thats why im still debating on getting it
I for one will buy a Nexus S on the 16th! I can't wait! I can live with all the other "shortfalls" that everyone is complaining about.

You got a good point but I have noticed lately that they have been giving alot of props to apple.
Do you think that they are trying to steer the phone makers in adopting these decisions LIKE taking the sd slot out?
Plus maybe these decisions where in the favor of the google devs. Which means since a dev phone it will be sold the same way.
ORRR even better the budget constraints....all these extra things cost money and Samsung thinking this device is going to be sold to a small market share they pulled all the things that make it a multimedia device out of it...
We may never know but you can explain if you have a better idea.Im open minded i'd like to hear some speculation =D

I would for sure, but I have Sprint
Stop making excuses for Samsung and Google.
This is a Vibrant with a curved screen running on Gingerbread. Nothing more.
I fail to see this as a worthwhile "upgrade".
Im standing up for my self I dont care about making excuses...Ive owned a Vibrant and wish to get stock on it.
Plus SGS phones have faulty GPS and before you even say that they fixed it or even bash me for the excuse. Know that the maps application is a huge part of the Android OS and I would gladly say that I would fork over 550 for one that works and not 500 for one that dosent.

At first when I saw the lack of HSPA+ i thought about not getting it, but after comparing the speed of my G2 (temporary until Thursday) to my just SOLD nexus one, there was no difference (same 3mb down). It is going to take some good time untill tmobile goes over 7mb ( at least in my area).
I will be second in line after you buddy..
Yeah I live in a HSPA+ area and my friend was comparing his speed to my sisters MT4G and he was laughing at her when his HD2 pulled the same 4megs a sec so im good since its as fast is it will be here...

All true, but i'm still waiting to see the power of the battery and it's internal storage. The only major things i like about this phone is that it's pure android and that it will release with ICS. If the battery is weak and the internal storage is low, i'm either get the SGSII or wait til something else comes out, cause i got a feeling the Galaxy Nexus is gonna be waaaaaay overpriced for pretty much the same specs as the SGSII, but with ICS(which is nice, but i can wait for the release on the atrix or SGSII) plus it's goin to Verizon first and i'm with At&T soooo........

i don't have a problem with the camera being 5mp, now with the processor stratax cleared that up for me, but no sd card slot, and a 1750mAh battery is gonna disappoint a lot of people just like the nexus s, which is a great phone but could've been better with an sd card slot for people like me that store a lot of music, videos, etc on their phone. My atrix replaced every other device i had(ipod, digital cam, psp) with the 48gbs it holds. But i do believe the Galaxy Nexus will be a great device, just missing a few things

as for the camera that is true, mp are marketing pretty much. software can make it look better than 99% of 8-12mp cameras out there. hahaha there is no sdcard slot? so many people didnt get the nexus s because of that. you'd think they would learn.. that is the same reason i didnt get the sensation because of low storage. i use my atrix as the same. most of it is music and games lol. which takes up a ton. how can a company make a entertainment device with low storage -_- unless it has like 64gb of storage i wont be happy with it. maybe 32 would be fine but still, im sure it will be expensive.
Am I wasting my time thinking AT&T will subsidize the version with their bands?

[Q] SDXC support

Has anyone tried to put a 64gb card in the focus? With so many Android devices supporting those and me running you of space on my phone I was wondering if I couldn't use one of those. But I don't want to waste $100+ if it not going to work. So, what say you?

whether Asus Transformer prime (on ICS) will support SDHC or SDXC ?
Same here, I just picked up Asus Transformer Prime (32G). Upgraded it to ICS 4.0.3 successfully.
I wanted to buy a micro sd card for expanding my storage, but then got baffled by the various models/variants available..
I found one SDHC and another one SDXC. Reading about them enlightened me a bit, but I didnt find any references to which one of these my tablet will support.
So, asking out loud here, has anyone tried either of these ? and whats the experience ? anyone who has tried sdxc, is it worth the extra money ??
please share experience.
regards
I'm also very interested in this.
From SanDisk's website, they have Ultra microSDHC (class 6) and Ultra microSDXC.
Looking through the XDA wiki, many of the cards listed are older generation.
From Wikipedia
SDHC host devices will accept SDXC cards that follow Version 3.0, since the interface is identical

I would suggest a lower class (2-4) if possible, as higher class (6-10) are oriented usually around burst speed not fast seek times (as lower class cards are). In any case, thank you!

So I'm expecting to see everyone there, except for the suckers that bought an EVO LTE.
Also I might just hold on a little longer until they get LTE here:
Sprint has been rolling out its 4G LTE network, beginning in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Atlanta, Kansas City, and Waco, Texas. More cities are expected to get the release soon. Next up, Sprint plans to bring its 4G service to Baltimore, Gainesville, Ga., Manhattan/Junction City, Kan., and Sherman-Denison, Texas, before Labor Day.
The service provider expects to complete its 4G LTE network rollout by the end of 2013.
Depending how much it cost off contact I might buy one to play with. I should have a job by then. If I don't then... Idk what I'm doing with my life lol

It looks good. I like the Specs. But it's the whole thing of it being a Motorola Device that kills it for me. Plus the Locked Down Bootloader BS. Not something I think I want to get into if I can avoid it. Holding out for an HTC QWERTY KB Device :fingers-crossed: . To all those that say it's not going to happen I say look around. A whole lot of people were saying there would be no more QWERTY KB Devices released by manufacturers. But here we are with about 6-8 Devices that have been released across the various carriers, and manufacturers . So I'm going to try and hold out.

Locked down bootloader? We are lucky to even have s-off on HTC. I was trying to get us a working copy of CM9/CM10 but it's more trouble than it's even worth unless sparksco comes through at this point. NewSense is king on this phone. HTC should send dread7us, onelove420, and drob311 a zillion dollars for fixing their broken out of the box phone.
You know I just got a TF300T and I Don't even care about root anymore because it just works.

True enough NewSense is BA, so are all the other Roms that Team has dropped for that matter :good: . They are all Extremely talented Devs . I'm sure I can speak for everyone when I say that we are very lucky to have had them on the Shift. Yes we are fortunate enough to have S-Off on the Shift. IDK about better Dev support. If anything I'd say it's about even.
Oh and BTW as if to re-iterate my point about manufacturers still making QWERTY KB Devices. Found THIS on the Android Police website.
Just stumbled across THIS , apparently they want a good launch. They're offering it for $150 if you Pre-Order.
Oh and yet another QWERTY KB Device from Sprint announced HERE.
The 3 keyboard phones that are going to launch are:
Kyocera - Low
LG - Medium
Motorola - Top
Considering that is 3 keyboard phones I somehow doubt sprint is going to release another one for at least a year unfortunately
To add to that, an HTC keyboard phone is unlikely because HTC has been pretty much anti keyboard for a while. The only keyboard phones they made were ones they were contracted in advanced to make.
Also notice a coincidence in HTC heavily dropping in profit ever since they stopped making keyboard phones >.>

Sad to see HTC moving away from KB phones. I owned a TP2 and an Evo Shift and loved them both.
I really like the Photon and will PROBABLY order it but have two concerns:
1. Battery. Says "embedded" and it's only 1780mAH. A little small and not replaceable??? Galaxy SIII has 2000mAH and it's swappable.
2. Memory. Didn't see an SD card slot and internal memory is 8GB. Is that correct? Hope not...
From what I've read 8gb is correct on the internal memory but it does have a micro sd slot. I didn't see what that can be expanded to but 32gb is pretty standard. As for the 8gb internal memory, I have a 2gb partition on my micro sd card and I've never come close to using even 1gb. Just sayin'.

Edit: according to this it does expand to 32g.

Thanks for the clarification. The Sprint site did not show an SD slot so that's good news! Still concerned about the "embedded" battery. I like the option of battery swapping when I need to and most android phones support this capability.

Well if it will handle a 32GB SD Card according to them. Then it should handle a 64GB SD Card with no issues. Reason I say this is because I've already run a 64GB SDHC Micro SD Card on the Shift for over a month with Zero Issues. Same goes for the OG EVO 4G. The card wasn't mine, so I had to give it back :crying: . But it's nice to know that it works on the Shift, and EVO :cyclops: .

The Embedded Battery shouldn't be to much of a concern. Not at all Happy about manufacturers moving to that type of BS. But as was already proven on the EVO LTE, it can be removed. Just not something that's simple anymore. Seems like just another excuse for you to have to take the Device to them . Which is total BS .
