[Q] Proxy Trouble !!! - Galaxy 3 General

I'm behind a proxy in my college....in order to connect to internet I use transproxy 3.08b on my phone....all apps work fine excluding the Market and Gtalk.....
Market surfing works bt installing apps doesnt work cos it is stuck at the downloading part....
Similarly Gtalk shows an "unable to connect to server error"
Gmail works fine...then why do the former not work..
Is it a port forwarding problem?
I think the ports used for above might be blocked by my proxy....Is there a way to get around this?

anybody any idea??

Is there nobody here who is in a college or a university like me???

Got my answer but the problem still persists
I found that my college proxy is open only on the port 8080.
so google market downloads and Gtalk dont work which use the ports 5228 and
5223,5224 respectively.
I came to know that Google authentication also uses port 5228 and I'm able to sign
in with my google account using my phone [using transproxy...thanks to Daveba for
such a useful app] then why dont the market downloads work (using the same
port)
Pls share ur knowledge on this. thnx in advance

[HELP] All IM apps dont connect

pls i ve a problem with any instant messaging application, i cant connect to any of them, i tried windows live messenger, palringo, and fring, i think there is something wrong with the setting, i also tried to disable the proxy setting in the connection setup, can any one pls help me ??
thnx in advance
1: check your connection settings (along with proxy)
2: check your ports (maybe your isp/router has blocked im ports?)
palringo, fring both are jabber based I guess, so it'll be ports 5222 and 5223

3 Questions about andoid

I have a sprint vogue flashed to metropcs with working internet and mms. I am running Nfsfans v14 rom. I installed android 1.5 bundle off of the google code page. I have 3 questions about android.
1.I have internet working with all the proxy settings and everything. Is there any way i can get mms working also?
2.Marketplace, Google Maps, Downloads form the browser, and Google Sync do not work. I get a connection error in marketplace, Google Maps does not load anything, Google Sync tells me to try again later, and the Browser downloads just say waiting for connection. is there any way to get all this working ??
3. is there any way to calibrate the screen? My 1,2,a,s keys are a little off
Thanks in advance
As far as your Google account not syncing - I think its a problem with any proxy based access.
I have cricket and its the same story. They use a proxy and either A) have a terrible reverse DNS issue - or B) They are blocking port 25.
This led to me not being able to have outlook connect directly with Gmail and download - id have to use the web version.
To my knowledge there is no work around for it - its an issue with the provider. Of course this is also assuming that the syncing Google does is using the same port it would for simple email.

Cannot sign in to any IM clients?

I am facing an issue with my HTC HD2.
I am not able to sign in to any of the IM clients (IM+, Palringo, Nimbuzz etc.)
There is no error message about connectivity failure and all the programs fail to connect me to any of the services like yahoo, gtalk etc. Just keep reconnecting to the servers/client services.
Also, i am not able to configure yahoo mail on my handset. If someone has done it before pls guide me through on how to setup Port configurations for POP3/IMAP4!
The browser and weather updates are working normally and I am able to use the other programs using data connection.
Do i need to manually configure settings in each of the IM programs?
Pls suggest
Any pointers/help is appreciated!

[Q] Android Market / Google Play over wifi

I've a proxy authenticated LAN connection on my laptop. I have hosted a wifi hotspot using Intel virtual wifi driver. I was facing the problem that the browser will ask for authentication on my android ..and it would work however other apps like Market or Gmail wont work coz there was no way for me to give authentication details. I kind of solved this problem using CCProxy as a double proxy on my laptop. Now i'm broadcasting wifi network which doesnt require me to fill in authentication details. Even then i was facing same problem.. Little research told me that Market uses port 5228 .. so in ccproxy i added this port. Now my problem is that Market / Google Play.. searches the applications but it doesnot download the apps when i select install.. on the otherhand Gmail seems to be working perfectly fine.. i tried downloading attachments and stuff.. I am assuming Market uses a different port for downloading apps then it uses for browsing.. Can someone plz help me out over here ???
Thnx in advance.
