[Q] Two different APNs on WP7 - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

Has anyone figured out how to get two different APNs working on WP7?
My service provider uses one APN for data and another one for MMS. I can get the data working fine but MMS is a different story.
Anyone do that?

Welcome to the limitations of windows 7. I don't think it's possible, but I could be wrong.

Windows Mobile 6.5 - Install to Touch Without Cell Service?

I have a Sprint HTC Touch and am thinking about installing the latest Winmo Pro 6.5.
The phone is new with nothing on it and isn't set up on the network yet.
Can I install the new operating system even though the phone doesn't work as a phone yet? I want to see how it works before I have Sprint set it up on the network.
Yes, as long as it's unlocked/HardSPLed
Well..... I can understand the word unlocked, but I have no idea what HardSPLed means.
Perhaps you can enlighten me?

HTC HD2 T-Mobile -- ROM Question

Hi
I'd like to know if it is possible to load the original HD2 (EU) ROM on the TMo version?
I also like to know from someone with a TMo HD2, the factory ROM that is on the phone, is it preinstalled with TMo settings and what not, what I'm getting to, does the built in browser only use TMo settings like Att's ROMs use their settings only.
I'm buying this phone, and wanting to use a different carrier.
Thanks!

If you load the Original EU ROM, YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE.
You just have to set up the settings manually, it isn't set to one specific connection.

Hi
Thanks for your reply,
One more thing, it doesn't seem from a Google search this phone has a Wifi router?
Is this true, and is there a cab to enable the wifi router app?

The T-Mobile one doesn't come with one, but yeah, there's a cab available that will let you use it.

If you can't see the router, just stop it and change the space to an underscore.

no need to manually set it up, you can install the connectionsetup.cab from the regular hd2 which will set everything up for you.

[Q] Rogers SMS Timestamp Issue

so I switch from an iPhone3G to the Focus and I have a timestamp issue. I know it has plagued Android units in the past and recently. I do have the correct timezone set (Central) but all txts I receive stamp of 1 hour behind me? Is there a DST setting I am missing? I have tried setting the time manually as I did with my iPhone but no luck with that - has anyone else confirmed this issue with a Focus? Thanks.
No issues here...and no issues through 3 Android phones either.
Where do you live? Arizona? Maybe the towers there are just wonky since parts of Arizona don't always change.
Dammit. My device (also from rogers) doesn't arrive until tomorrow...... I'll post back once I get mine to let you know if I have the same problem.

SMS Time Fix for Android
I have the Samsung Captivate from Rogers running Android 2.1. I am running SMS Time Fix from the Android market. My time was off by 4 hours and I had to set the utility to correct the time by 5 hours. Works like a charm.
Is this just a Rogers thing then? That seems really weird.
All my phones have a setting somewhere that let's you set the time based on your location, which is roughly estimated based on the towers you're accessing for your signal. I find it odd that such a large subset of phones from a particular place would...ignore that.
I have had no such issue with my device. All the timestamps are correct for me.

yep seems to be a Rogers thing - Android users have a fix but I cannot find one for WP7. Yes I know about the automatic time setting and it doesnt matter which way I set it - its always incorrect.

OK well thats good to hear
So what settings are you using? Auto?
A CSR told me the other day that it has been escalated beyond tier-2 support. Who knows what that means or when it will be fixed for you.

Sadly, nope. Nothing.
WinMo has had this problem with Rogers for a while... there's a simple registry setting in CE (likely still in the CE behind WP7) that changes whether or not the phone should accept the sms timestamps from the carrier or substitute its own based on arrival time on the physical device.
Some sites are reporting that sideloaded apps can access the registry as well as undocumented APIs. If you're willing to wait, I'm betting there will be a way to tweak the WP7 registry by the end of this year.

its not a huge issue as the txts are threaded anyways...just be nice to have the correct time on them - I will await the OS update (jan 2011 is what I have read)...
im located in winnipeg too and i have the issue with my new Focus.
oh and i wanted to note that i had the timestamp issue with my HD LEO and i had to modify the registery so i dont think that Rogers will do anything about this issue.
i guess we have to wait for microsoft or our geniuses here

How to set up 3g??

I've tried 3 different builds and I can't seem to get the 3g working at all. I'm using a t-mobile 1024 mb version if it matters. Everything seems to be running perfectly except the data. When I search for networks T-Mobile comes up and I select it but no data connection. I can make calls etc. Do I have to set this up manually? If so how?
PS: I've used the search button like a million times.
Edit: I am using Coredroid and the windows mobile version from the same creator.

Make sure you are using the correct APN for your service provider.

[Q] Requesting help with HTC HD2 WinMo7 on TMO network

I have looked but I haven't found what I'm looking for. I was able to successfully install WinMo7 on my HD2, but I didn't have the data capabilities outside of a WIFI hotspot. Is there APN info that I have to input into the phone? Do I have to change my data package? I liked WinMo7, but I had to downgrade back to 6.5 just to get my data package working. Can anyone either help or point me in the right direction?

Firstly, its not Windows Mobile, Its Windows Phone.
Second, You didnt downgrade to 6.5, You just installed a different OS. Windows Mobile and Windows Phone 7 are 2 completley different OS's from ground up.
Third, Sorry cant help. It just works out of box for me. Your carrier should automatically give the phone its APN settings.

I had that problem initially as well. Then I found the HTC Connection Setup tool in the apps list (it was already preinstalled/cooked-in). Just run that tool and it will make the changes needed for data to work.

Oh cool!!! Where did you go to get your ROM? Can you get me the link? I would really appreciate it.
no data for me too on t-mobile network
I am also having the same problem, that is I have installed at least 4 different WP7 roms and with all of them I get no data or mms messages to work. I have used the HTC connection on all of the roms and still no success. I have ICS on the sd card and I get data and mms messages with ICS, so it has to be something in the roms or radios (software or hardware) or something else that I am missing. If someone knows the answer please help us. I have been working on this for about 2 weeks now. Thanks in adance.
I am using the HTC HD2 Leo, euro, not HTC Tmous.

any of the wp7 roms work out of the box. apparently you found a rom to flash to begin with. htc connection setup is on the htc marketplace.
i suggest reading up on windows phone so you know what you're asking and doing.
