Lately Ive been tryin to set up the sdk and I just cannot get it I wanna Root my MytouchSlide Can Someone Help me PLEASE!!!!!!
You need to be more specific with what you are having problems with.
Also pretty much every question about rooting this phone and flashing roms has been asked more than once. I suggest using the search function to find the information you are seeking. If you can't find an answer that way then feel free to ask a "specific" question regarding your issue and I'm sure someone here will be glad to help

That should solve any issues you're having.
bet your having the same issues as I did. Which is why i created a guide to help. It is in my sig on how to prepare root.
You only need SDK for the adb feature, you do not need to set up SDK other then moving the folder to the correct spot,(which my guide has directions on where to put it) adding tools from Eugenes post into the tools section of SDK.
Good luck on rooting your device.

Biggest issues while I was learning via this guide is the packages you install do not include the adb drivers for the slide which in my guide it shows how to do so.
Hey all!
As you can see in my signature, i'm a HD2 user and i'm currently porting android, it's now been 3 months since i last used winmo!!!
To cut down to the important; my brother recently bought HTC Magic!
Since i like modding a lot, and since i have felt the beauty of android 2.2 (Froyo) on my HD2, knowing that Magic is android 1.5 by default, i want to port the latest ROM/android to his cell phone!
It's a PVT32A i guess (its written on the box 288MB RAM)
Is there is any froyo ROM for magic now?!
Or eclair?!
Stock or custom?!
I prefer stock roms if possible with froyo or eclair!
If not, what is the latest/fastest/best ROM for magic right now?! Please point me to it!
In htc site i found this http://www.htc.com/europe/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=267&cat=2&dl_id=862;
did anyone tried it?! Is that android 1.5 or more?!
Please help me guys!
I know i should be reading but HD2 has got many bugs still in android to keep me completely busy in reading there besides that my brother doesn't like to read.
Thanks
Simple.... follow my guide to root and get custom recovery...(check my signature)... then apply stock magic 2.1 with sense found in development section... or the stock 2.2 without sense also found in development!
Good luck!

Excuse me mumilover but i have many concerns, if you or anyone can help me:
1-i've read that there is a "check for system update" in the settings/about phone but i don't have it!!! that is weird!!! I was thinking of updating the system first to see where that leads me!
2-in your root guide you use adb installing method; well i have never used it yet, is it that simple by only opening a command prompt in windows and writing "adb install C:\roottools\App\UniversalAndroot_1.6.1.apk" for example i can install this app if this is its location on pc?!?
Excuse my ignorance, but does this work simply by connecting the cell to the pc va usb (with debugging mode on) or it does need anything extra to make it work?!?
3-the biggest difficulty is that, by default, there are no file manager included and no market application!!!! which means one can not install any app!!! No way to download it and no way to install it if one can't access the SDcard!!!
Is that why we need adb?!?
4-How can i know my radio version and Hboot?! (in winmo it used to be displayed on booting)
5-Do you mean by "and get custom recovery" that i should do also steps 6, 7 and 8?! or only 7?! or maybe 7 and 8?! (coz 6 seems a bit freaky "Using this spl will cut your ram in half and make the 3.5mm jack useless!"... )
Thanks a lot
I can only say, that you have to read the guide 1-3 times more...
Many of your questions is answered there...
It very simple to follow, and i have written all the steps need.
Just do it and revert back if you get any problems.
Please, if you get problems, then write them in the guide thread and not here... to make things organized :0)

Guys I have Nexus S i9020T runnig Android version 2.3.4, Baseband version I9020XXKD1, Build number GRJ22. I have looked around a lot and am confused on how to root my phone, is there any simple way of rooting my phone with super user? I run a very old PC so installing the sdk is pretty hard, so could anyone give me a step by step simple tutorial? This is my first Android phone and am a complete noob at this
Did you read the sticky yet?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1007782
It's a step-by-step tutorial and exactly how you should do it.
The SDK shouldn't really be a strain for your PC.
Good luck,
Greetz
You don't need the entire SDK. Grab PDAnet USB divers and then choose to download just the 2.3.3 SDK and Google USB drivers from the SDK. Worked fine for me this way. You don't need all the stuff the SDK wants to install by default.

Is there any way to root without the SDK? I heard there was some problem with the fast boot oem? People were getting stuck at the Google screen?

Yes that guide works regardless of what Android version you're using because Android version is not a factor. It's the bootloader.
No, it is impossible to root without the SDK because you have to unlock the bootloader using the SDK. You won't get stuck at the Google screen. People are messing up because they're unable to follow instructions.

I've helped people in this topic many times.
The easiest way I can say is to first download the Android SDK listed in that step-by-step thread. It's not that difficult and you shouldn't be scared to do it. Unless you're flashing something for another model of the phone (such as NS4G) everything should be fixable.
Download http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html to your respective OS. If its for windows, I know it says recommended for exe but I prefer using the .zip version of it. So download that first if you haven't already.

If your internet is really slow and you have to download ROMs after rooting. It might be rough on your end because ROMs are at least ~80MB+

Don't know why you're downloading the JDK but okay. Extract it and rename the folder android-sdk-windows-r12 to /sdk/ and place it on the root of your C drive. So it'd be located in C:\sdk\
You need to put your phone into bootloader mode (while phone is off; VOL UP + Power) while plugged in. Do what the instructions say and set up the drivers.
The step-by-step guide is self-explanatory. I don't really want to paraphrase what the guide says because it's pretty simple. Follow the guide you linked earlier and tell me if you experience any problems or have problems understanding what is being asked.
Edit: In part 2, where it says:
switch to the directory where you downloaded & unzipped the ..\android-sdk-windows\tools

It'll be cd C:\sdk\tools\

Edit 2: In part 2 where it tells you to get clockwork 3.0.0.5, disregard that
download: http://www.mediafire.com/?y3is5c9n5fi1sd6 instead
when you finish downloading it, place it in C:\sdk\tools\
and type:
fastboot flash recovery 4002-orange.img

Hi,
I have just purchased a new HTC HD2 on T-Mobile (U.K.) and I am loving it !
I am a total novice and wish to change from Windows 6.5 to the better latest Android OS.
Can anyone please tell me how to do this? I have no idea what I am doing and do not want to do something which may jeopardise the phone (I do know that it does affect the warranty) The only thing I know about 'Flash' it flashing my mobile in public.
I would really like if someone can give me Step by Step instructions via a video so I can see what I am doing.
Any feedback would be really appreciated.
Many thanks

I think you are making this harder than it needs to be. Just follow the instructions given to you in your previously started thread about the same thing. The link to MSkip gives you detailed instructions on how to install Android on your HD2 and how to revert back to WM6.5 if you so desire.

Google is your friend. Haven't used it in a while. If you are that unsure of flashing Android to your HD2 just buy an Android powered phone. Sorry to be so brash but just follow the instructions.

I'll try to explain a bit. First off you've got to install the things that let you install Android in the first place (HSPL, MAGLDR, CWM etc) and after that you install a ROM. A ROM is the thing that will decide what version of Android you phone will have. If you don't like the ROM you have, or if you just want the newest version of Android, all you have to do is change it. You don't have to re-install everything again, just your ROM.
You might have to change your CWM partition size when you choose a new ROM, but the chef (person who made the ROM) will let you know what size you need in the thread. This is also easy and doesn't require you to re-install everything. Don't worry if you don't know what a CWM partition is because it'll make sense eventually.

The .exe of what? Have you read the thread? If you did, you'd know the RUU or the HTC sync exe is not a required step.
adb works on linux without drivers.
