XDA, I'm a convert from the iPhone. I used to spend most of my time over at MMi. But the iPhone got boring after a while (had one for 3 years).
After spending a few days learning the ins and outs of you fine peoples' work, I figured we could start a thread to showcase the different combinations that people are using, in order to get the best results out of Froyo 2.2 on the HTC HD2.
This type of thread would have helped me by saving me a few days worth of trial and error!
HTC HD2, TMous, 1024, Running:
*Reformatted, Stock 16gb Micro SD

Results:
*I finally have a daily functional, SMOOTH, operating version of Froyo 2.2!
*No SOD, no robot voice, etc.
*The only glitch I'll see is the touch screen (not often) being unresponsive, which a quick lock/unlock fixes.
*Not sure on battery life exactly, but it seems reasonable enough (if I wake up at 8, I'll have to charge approx 12 hrs. later).

I have a TMOUSA like you, running Elegancia V1 ROM, Class 4 8GB SD. I've never formatted the SD.....can't see a reason to since every Android build I've ran has functioned fine.
My Android of choice is mattc's Leo + Froyo w/Sense 1.5b. I using a live wallpaper with setcpu and Advanced Task Killer to assist with keeping battery drain under control.
I've been a BIG supporter of WinMo and had some initial reluctance about migrating to Android, but I've pretty much taken a big bite of the bullet. Android is very nice, fast with tons of applications free for the using.
Lot's of talented developers and (of course) the genius of Cotulla creating the images we all clamor for.
Final thoughts:
No robo voice
runs smooth (even with live wall paper)
I get about 18 hrs out of fully charged battery - average 45 min calls, a few texts, check mail every few hours and read FBreader about two hours a day
Wifi & BT working, except no phone transfer to BT headset
GPS works fine and google navigator is the ****z!
I tried almost all the builds, but matt's is the one for me (right now, anyhow)

For me absolutely the same! Touchscreen could be better AND the "unlock screen" could be fixed, my text is under the black line, maybe its because of the german text?
Its running perfectly now. No screen freezes, no robotic voice. Its running well. I have darkstone froyo v2.1. My radio is 2.12
To keep the battery running good, i use a app called greenpower , advance task killer and setcpu .. my battery cab last all day!!! I use android as my main os!!!

DarkStone Froyo Series V1 here - battery is my only concern stopping me from making Android OS my primary - I can go from morning til late night on one charge which is not that bad but still WinMo has better battery life on my hd2

Wow! Thats impressive! Perhaps a rom change is in order for me! I am big on texts though, which tends to take a beat stick to the battery and brutally dominate it to about 12 hrs anyway.
PS: i don't use any cpu or task manager programs and my battery life is good. every 15 minutes email check, listen to music for about 30 mins and browsing via internet.
70 - 80 % of battery life
sure winmo was better/higher, but androids battery/energy system isn't fixed yet :/

First off, to my surprise battery life is not bad at all, in fact about the same as winmo with sense. The main problems I have faced are touch screen going unresponsive at times and some apps not working like flashlight. But... gps signal seems even stronger than on winmo, and yes, Google navigation rocks, better than most paid gps apps on winmo. Android has revived my hd2 and kept me from selling it. Speed is very good, better than winmo, better than my espresso. WiFi works normally, as does data. I think some of my touch screen issues are SD card related, but I don't think it will be long before we have a Rom and a lot of issues are solved regarding this, as well as the sleep of death issue. I thought I was getting sod's on this build but actually just didn't realize the green button turns the screen back on. XD
But all in all, Android has been the best thing to happen to my hd2. Oh and while typing his message I just realized how much better keyboard is on this than on winmo. Not even using swype.
Yea I run the same as you no sod, no robot voice, able to send and receive text, etc.. runs smooth for everyday use I was about to buy a Samsung Galaxy S cause I was getting bored with my hd2 but now there is no need I fell back in love with it

Running the ChuckyDroid ROM, can't remember what radio!
Got DarkStoneFroyo v2.1 which is awesome.
Buttery smooth and get about 21 hours of battery on a single charge!
Using an 8GB Class 4 Kingston microSD card.
One thing that amazes me is how good Flash 10.1 is.
Soo....I'm new at this so here's my info:

And a simple 1GB Micro SD Card
Works good for me so far. Except, no WiFi tethering.

Only issues I have so far:
* Cannot send MMS
* Battery is pretty bad...not even 12hrs with average usage (few texts, some browsing, checking email once in a while)

ROM:Any of them - I flash a lot (sometimes twice a day) and I don't remember having any problems with any rom.
the Battery life is good without any third parties applications.
I use now Android as my primary OS.
However I noticed that the sound is a little low so I put the volume to the maximum.
Running quite nice. A bit slow, and draining battery like a maniac! If someone would post a "how-to-increase-battery-life-guide" and make it sticky. Would be AWESOME!

theres no way you can get 20hrs out of it and your a hard user. i use my web all day and my battery dies in about 6hrs of hard web usage

anybody tried Radio 2.15.50 with andriod?

i see that i get much better connections and smoother performance but horrible battery life...

I am running 2.15.50.14 and the device bricks within a few seconds of running HARET - I just get static horizontal white lines that look like they are made up of small text. I have to remove battery to get running again.
It just wont work.
Can I revert the radio back to one that will allow me to run Android?
I simply cannot stand Winmo any more - the HD2 is a beautiful device that is crippled by third rate software, I wish I had purchased an Android phone, I still have 12 months to run on my contract. ( Help!
well i got another problem using this Radio (i don't know if it's due to the Radio version or the android build itself); Haret and CLRCAD stopped working and give me an error message
and yup you can downgrade your Radio, just make sure you have HSPL

I got my HD2 back from HTC recently after a touchscreen replacement. They had flashed 2.15.50.14 to the phone. I stuck my SD card back in, booted android with no problems whatsoever. Still using the same radio and whatever stock rom they had flashed to it 3 weeks later and haven't used WM once

Using 2.15.50 radio with android and it's great, battery life is excellent and no problems for me.
what exactly is you issue you can get android to run? i run 2.15.50 and have no issues what so ever.
i jus switch to 2.12 1 hour ago. but sleep of death for android still occur. using shubcraft 2.0
Ive been using 2.15.50 for a little while now and have observed that it will charge up to the full 100% in android where it was only charging up to the high 90's before. I have had no trouble running either android or ubuntu with this radio on my tmous HD2

I've been using the 2.15 radio for awhile now. As mentioned earlier the charging actually reaches a full 100%, battery life seems to be more efficient now, and I've had little to no connection drops as compared to before. You may be having problems if you're not using HSPL3.

I am running with no drops, G-Sensor fix, etc. and the latest kernel with no problems, but on 2.12.
I could never get good battery from 2.15...even now.

I've been on 2.15 for a while now, never had any problem with it. Battery life is great, charges to 100% (with proper calibration I can get over 2 days moderate use out of my phone as well) very few data drops except when I switch to a roaming network, call quality is excellent as well.
Running 2.15.50.14 (The latest official T-Mobile update) with no modifications. Works fine with FroyoStone Sense V3.2. Terrible battery life.
On a side note - This update helped the battery life when running in Windows Mobile mode, I get significantly more time out of the device than with the ROM it came with originally.
I'm running 2.15.50, I'm having lots of issues.Random crashing when using GPS or 3G connection.Only 1 of 6 Android builds I have tried work without crashing or not loading plus robot voice on calls.Will try to load a custom ROM and downgrade the radio version.
No problems so far. Usimg it for a long time.
Everything works as it should!

i am running hyperdroid 1.7 on my hd2 now, but i have got some problems with it.
as i was looking for a solution for my problems, i saw there was an android os called SuperHD2_v14. and thought to flash it instead of hyperdroid.
can anybody tell me if that os is almost like hyperdroid? or is there much different. I have read that SuperHD2_v14 have a good battery life, compared to hyperdroid. is that true?

I haven't tried hyperdroid but I'm pretty satisfied with SuperHD2_v14. I checked current widget and sure enough it did eventually drop to 4 mA on idle. I got about 6 hours of heavy use or about 5 hours of 100% continuous use. I think for the most part the chef's claims are valid.
Note your radio... I had to back flash to an old radio, but I'm not certain it was required. I've heard that some with newer radio's are complaining.
Also on first boot be VERY patient. About 5-15 minutes at the "htc" screen. Subsequent boots are the normal 3-5 min.
BTW, I flashed WinMo to OzDROID 2.0 since it was recommended as a good pairing with SuperHD2. Also remember to light the keys before loading it. Being religious about that solved some of my issues.

Of all the ROMs from XDA I was tested on [26.JAN] [DFT / Cwm] NexusHD2-Froyo V1.9G [Android2.2.2] [Kernel: tytung_r2_oldcam]. The only that keeps me the most battery.

the best way to find out which rom gives out the best bat life is to experiment with the different ones out there. and a big factor also lies in your set up. i've already upgraded my hd2 rom and radio and i'm very pleased with my current set up as follows:
rom: chuckyrom lite
radio: 2.15
android: mdj froyo 4.6
by far it's given me the best power battery output ever. to give you an idea, i charge my phone in the evening. as soon as it's 100% i then unplug it. that'll be done at around 10pm when i go to sleep. i wake up at 6am and the battery shows 97%. not bad for 8 hours on standby. and i'm using live video wallpaper. on the way to work, i watch vids for like 40 minutes on the train. by the time i get to the office, my battery is at 80%.

Most Android phones have poor battery life, thats just how it is.
There is many, many different things you can do to improve it and its all documented here on forum.
really? however htc hd2 is initially not an android phone.. i am worried that it's battery life would be worse than true android devices?
I have push mail and weather updates and such running on an android Darkstone RAM froyo sense rom, and the battery life is as good as, or better than it was on windows.
It's more stable than windows, that is for sure.
I have dual boot, so I can still boot into windows too, so the android is extra.
another question: is the robot voice still an issue with some android roms? while reading threads of android on hd2 whether ram, sd or nand, i often see people complaining about robot voice issue!!! i hope it's no more there with the newest android roms... that sounds like a very bad issue for me!!

Go to the thread, and on the first page you will get full instructions, of course you need to read, understand and then follow them before it will work. But I'm a simple old man and I acheived it so get reading

last android rom im using lasts only 6 hours with the extended battery .... im looking for a rom with long battery life so it can last for at least a day ......
I think all nexus roms from tytung have a great battery life.

Yes every ROM from NEXUS bu tytung have great battery life. I think you should use jellybean 4.2.2
I used SlimKat (more than 2 days battery life), but it was very slow and I changed it to Nexus KitKat.
Unfortunately, Nexus has worse battery life than SlimKat.

I have been running SD Android builds for a couple of months, still a beginner. I'm happy with WinMo + Android SD build(s) ... however would we made any progress if we don't investigate further ...
Would NAND Android be any better than SD builds, specifically on Battery & speedness?
Would you recomend NAND vs SD?
MAGLDR OR CLK? What are the differences?
If I want to go back to WinMo ... would it be as easy as having the original stock rom (.nbh file) in a blank microSD and enter the boot loader?
If you still have energy after so many questions, one not as important (I can test myself) ... any ROM recommendation?

I would recommend using NAND, it's a great experience. a TON better than winmo 6.5. I have great battery life, and the speed is as if the HD2 is an android device natively.
MAG vs cLK: I've tried both. The differences are:
cLK boots faster, and doesn't have a cmd prompt screen during boot.
cLK uses PPP for your data connection (MAGLDR uses rmnet). Sometimes you'll have a data drop that can only be fixed by rebooting your phone with PPP. rmnet is completely stable.
For NAND, to get back to winmo, you'll have to flash the official winmo6.5 ROM just as if you'd flash cLK or MAGLDR.
As for ROMs, it's totally up to your preferences. I've used a few, and currently I'm using TyphooN 3.6.0 because it has all the customization that I want. There are other kinds, you'll just need to test with a bunch to find what you like.

It depends on your setup:
What accounts are syncing, What apps are using background data,... you probably know the drill.
I use an app that disables my data usage and periodically re-enables it to sync with everything. So far my battery hasn't lasted any less than 13 hours.

im used to flash the Boyppc's roms with cwr so on Nand after have handled a lot of builds on SD card. The battery life is great (2h of music, mail and internet 2-3h and others things with from a mobile so i use 60-70%) the speed is awesome and no problems if I need to remove the card from my phone.
I have tried many roms, I change every few months ... Until I find the "perfect" ROM...
I recommend NAND.
In my opinion it's faster, more stable and less problems.
Great battery life. With normal use you can enjoy almost a day of battery.(but if you use 3G the battery dies)
Right now I'm using the rom TyphooN_CM7_v3.6.0 MAGLDR, my favorite.

Yes definitely go for nand. Its so much smoother and faster than an SD build. I would imagine that android nand would conserve battery life vs. SD just because nand isn't going through so many processes to make your phone run.

I would also agree with the other posters that going with a NAND ROM gives you better battery life than an SD ROM. For me, my current NAND ROM has a standby battery drain of 2-5mA vs. my previous SD ROM with a standby battery drain of 7-9mA. I am currently using Tytung's Nexus HD2 v3.0 ROM. Very stable and fast. Everything is working very well. No force closes or drops in data. Market is very stable as well. Call quality is very clear and probably is one of the best that I have tried. I use MAGLDR since it is very easy to use, is very stable and compared to an SD ROM, is much faster to load from off. Try 45-50 seconds from off. If I remember, my SD ROM took almost 4-5 minutes to boot up from off.
As i have just readed the posts would say that your main problem is the BATTERY thing..right??
NAND is is the most stable , fast , battery saver , that you can offer to your phone..as all the people of xda writing above me ^^.
Now if you care about battery try finding a rom thats STABLE ...and not fancy with Effects and cool weather ,live wallpapers and many many other..try getting something stable - fast - and with no much bg programs to run....!

Dayly use, so:
phone + bt + wifi + good responsiveness/overall speed (actually Speed IS important)
gps (not frequent but must work)
battery life (*)
HTC Sense or SPB Shell ready ... any other fancy launcher?
Good to have: navigate through PC's internet connection when USB connected (though saving battery due to not use WIFI and not use my little 3G data plan). Maybe this can be added with an .apk ?

(*) By the way Panda_Face I followed your suggestion of flight mode to save battery, it did work and saved a lot of battery
There is a "patch" of sorts for GPS which makes it connect a lot faster. It usually takes a few minutes to get any sort of lock from the satellites without it. (Click here to read about it).
I'd recommend either the TyphooN Cyanogenmod or the Nexus HD2. They are both very stable, and have all the latest and greatest stuff for them. They are also well known. Their forum pages have been viewed millions (not joking) of times, so there is a lot of support. And as far as I know they both have everything working (phone + bt + wifi) are very responsive.
To help with responsiveness use just a plain old normal wallpaper. The live ones --from what I've seen--- tend to lag the scrolling and flipping home screens and such.
I use an app called "JuiceDefender". The free version turns off my data connection (3g) and periodically turns it back on to sync with email, etc. The other paid versions of this have more options such as managing your wifi and other connections. This alone has doubled my battery life.

i use a patriot class 10 SD card running AmeriCan Android, and it is uber fast.... has anyone ever compared the speed of a class 10 and NAND??? im really curious about this to decide if i want to use NAND or not... lol, i just dont know if it is worth it to redo everything for a little extra battery life... lols...

Battery life is a plus. NAND is nice because it makes your phone feel now like a native android phone. Also you get to dedicate more space on your card for things. finally, you'll be getting rid of winmo 6.5 (worst operating system ever) it killed my first hd2; wouldn't boot one day.

I would also agree with Panda_Face, Android NAND is the way to go. Very smooth and fast. Much less memory intensive. Gingerbread ROM that I am on used a zip file of slightly less than 90mB vs. my old HTC Sense ROM using 445mB of space. Both NAND ROMs were smooth and fast but going with the "lighter" Gingerbread ROM gave me a much faster boot up time. Less than half the time the HTC Sense ROM I used. Battery life is better on NAND vs. SD. Also, when I was using Android via SD, I never realized until I went NAND, how the SD ROM was not smooth when compared to the NAND ROM I am using now.
