Hello,
Unfortunately, I synced my X8 with my Google Contacts. And it were a total mess. But I can't seem to find an easy way to batch remove contacts. Also, if I set the local contacts to not show, they still do. And the other way around as well.
Is there an easy way to actually do this? I'm using a Mac.
All is appreciated.

Hi
Sorry if this has been asked before. Searched for it but didn't find it...
I would like to manage my PHOTO Contacts from the PC (much in the same manner I manage normal Contacts with Outlook. Is there any software for this?
I thank you in advance.
Thanks
Not that Im aware of but how about remote controlling ? Something like Pocket Controller will allow you to use your PC keyboard / mouse and have your phones display on-screen.
Just a thought
Yes, that's as far as I got trying to solve the problem, too. I was hoping there was a way around it. Maybe importing the phone contacts database or something....
Hello everyone,

As far as I know, that only syncs the phone contacts. I think you need third-party SIM manager software.
For example this. Do google search to find more programs. I've never dealt with this, and maybe there is some registry hack or setting on the HD that will allow it. Maybe someone else knows for sure.
EDIT: What you could do is transfer the sim contact to your phone. Then it will sync along with all the other contacts. To do that, just go to your contacts and tap on a sim contact to select it. Press Menu--Save Contact
You can edit information and when your done, it will create a copy and save it as a phone contact. The sim contact will still be there.
Through Dashwire which is a free online back up programme which does work with HTC HD you can sync the contacts onto a webpage, delete, edit do whatever you like with them and sync them back plus you have a permanent back up of them online - may be of some use?
Hello,
I am currently using a stock-based ROM and want to switch to Azure. My problem is that I spent a lot of time to collect profile pictures, link contacts to their FB accounts etc.
Is there a way to backup my contacts to include everything as it is now? The in-built export does not save every information.
My Legend is rooted, so I thought there could be a way to backup the contacts app including it's data as it is stored on my phone now but I have no clue how to do that.
Every idea or solution is highly appreciated! Thanks for you help!
I have the same query ... maybe someone with some expertise can help ??

Ok I just tried it risking to go through everything again (especially manually linking contacts to their FB Accounts with different names and merging FB-only accounts with my phone contacts took a long time).
I just found out about Titanium Backup and am pretty sure that it gets the job done easily, just in case you want to spend the money for it, which I can't
What I did:
- Copied "/data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/contacts2.db" to my SD-Card using Root Explorer.
- Installed Azure
- Installed Root Explorer again
- Moved contacts2.db back overwriting the new empty one.
- Installed Facebook
- Synced my contacts again.
- Restarted my phone
Worked great. My contacts are back, everything is linked correctly even the ones with different names, FB-only accounts are merged with phone contacs again.
Maybe someone with more experience knows an easier method or a good app for this to save some time.

I always use the phone one.
Phone means that the contact will be saved in your phone's internal memory. It won't be affected if you change sims or delete your google acct.
Google means that the contact will be saved in your google acct, you can access it from anywhere.
SIM means that the contact will be saved in your SIM directory. That way, if you insert your sim in another phone, you would still have the contact's details.
By the way, i don't think it's related to android OS at all or galaxy y....please use the general forum (in General Discussion) for these...

I recommend saving to your google account.
This way all your contacts will be intact, in case you lose the SIM or brick your phone.
Also I have found that making changes to a contact using your browser interface (firefox, chrome etc) is much easier than trying to make changes on screen.
Turning on sync will ensure that your contacts are synced with your phone. If you own more than one android device, you'll get the contacts synched to all of them.
I can't find a way to create and work with contacts locally on CM 10.1. I didn't have this problem with CM7.
I can't imagine they would take this out - but if they did, is there any good way to make this work?
For example, if contacts have to be associated with an Account Type, is it feasable to set up a fake account so that all data is effectively local anyway?
To clarify, I would prefer to not just turn off Sync and use all Google contacts. I'll do it if I have to, but it seems too risky to me.
Okay, I found the solution. I'll post it here in case anyone else is searching for an answer to this problem:
1. Go to "Apps Manager \ All"
2. Disable "Google Contacts Synchronisation".
After that, it works like a charm. All created contacts are local, phone only, unsynced.
