Hello French users ;-)
MMS is finally working for me, after trying to apply various fixes from around the world i was able to find what was missing.
MMs is working send & receive, although when sending there will be a report the message is 1ko (but it's just wrong)
>Problem was from the authentication protocol that was set to default CHAP where it should be PAP, and the setting wasn't even implemented in the Android config.
File is attached, copy it in /system/etc, then reboot, then go to Settings, Wireless settings, APN settings, press menu then reset to defaults. Reboot again jsut to be sure ;-)
Warning :
This is a STRIPPED VERSION. If your phone is unlocked and you happen to share it with SFR or BT, they won't have data or MMS.
>If this is needed, copy the lines from your old apns.conf and just add it.
PLEASE DON'T ASK FOR SFR OR BOUYGUES SETTINGS THANKS
BTW if anybody knows who is in charge for the APN database, i'll be happy to help him fix some glitches for Orange France (there are WAY too many APN for a single provider ^^)

I used to use SUFBS to push files with android wut it didn t seems to work how to push it nand rome without adb ?
Hi asphaltkiller,
I have tried your xml file, and the result is : still no data.
I don't know if the only problem for data is the APN.
Just yeasterday, one of my friend bring me his HD2 with the ROM : MDJ Froyo HD v4.6 which hasn't data. I change his APN [SFR], and miracle : the data works !
And for me with the ROM Meedjay Froyo Sense v2.4 clean, the data works, but with the new one I try [DezireZ v3.5 final SD], the data doesn't work.
Here my APN for the Sens v2.4 Clean :

So is the APN the only guilty ?

IMHO? Yes.
Check YOUR own APNS-CONF.XML and see the difference.
>Orange world : apn type need to be "default" and "supl", port doesn't need to be 8080 for Orange World
>MMS : Authentification shouldn't be blank, etc
Just do a copy and paste.
AND.
Go to parameters, wireless settings, APN, and make SURE the APN is correctly SELECTED!!!!!!!

The thing which is weird, is that if the APN is the guilty, why does the data NOT work even if I configure the APN with the same parameters on a ROM which the data works flawlessly !
My working APN is different from yours, but it works. And my APN is the same on different ROM and it's only stable on one.
IMO, the APN isn't the only thing that we have to look on.

On another topic [which subject is something else], we just found out TODAY how to set MMS without losing data.

In the main SMS client [not Go SMS or Handcent], set your User-agent to : Android-mms/2.0.
And in Go SMS [I don't know what to do for Handcent], limit the size of the MMS under 1M.
Normally, with those two APN & these settings, you will be able to have both data and MMS.
Seems like you don't have to reboot to take this in account, but you'd better to.
Feed back if it work…or not. ^^'
EDIT : all this is thanks to Kerya and pringaguardias !!

Thanks for the answer
I changed the APN settings as you said, but now I have another problem : I don't know how to change the "user-agent" ...
I have to go in the original sms application, then press the "windows" button to reach settings ?
Because if I'm right, I don't have any option called "user-agent" or something similar
EDIT : the maximum mms size is already at 500k. But even if the mms is only about 40k it doesn't work ...
EDIT2 : if you speak french, I think it will be easier
Ok, ok. En effet, je parle français.
Je continue donc en français pour toi.
Pourtant, il est dans les paramètres du SMS-MMS, c'est le "User-Agent personnalisé".
Je sais pas quoi te dire d'autre.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Ok I've found the problem...
On SuperRam Rom from Darkstone, the mms.apk isn't set to allow user-agent modifications ...
I think I'm going to use another rom, but I'm looking for a fast one

I have just upgraded to 2.3.3 and lost my APN settings. I have tried vodafone to no avail. Please could someone post there's for me to copy - thanks
u can search apn vodafone UK for the android and see how you go
good luck mate
I have tried the ones on the vodafone site and they still dont work? Any other ideas as I cant use the web on my phone?
When this has happened to me I've recovered the settings by using the "Set to Default" menu item.
Anyway as follows:
wap.vodafone.co.uk
user name: wap
password: wap
mms
http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms
MMS Proxy: 212.183.137.12
Port 8799
MCC: 234
MNC: 15
APN Type: internet + MMS
All other settings none or default
HTH
Which ROM did you update to ?
Official UK release - or one from forums here ?
If you used the XXJVK version from Ramad's thread, it has multiple CSC's inside. CPW and XEU seem to both have settings for UK and Ireland
NOTE - IT WILL RESET YOUR PHONE SO YOUR APPLICATIONS AND EMAIL ACCOUNTS, ETC WILL DISAPPEAR
CSC: OXAJVK (MultiCSC: CPW, DBT, KOR, XEO, XEU)
On phone dial *#06# to get your IMEI
Then Dial *#272*IMEI# to bring up the CSC selection menu. Pick one of the two I mentioned, and select.
