They are all right underneath that weird search button.

I believe all you have to do is reflash nero 5 and that brings back the original kernel.

Reflashing nero5 is a huge waste of time just to flash back the stock kernel. Let me see what I can find

I took the nero 4.1 kernel image zip ttabble provided(when I asked if he had one around) and replaced the kernel in the zip with the kernel from nero5 rom, and I just tested it myself, it works fine.
Hope this helps.

Beginner help with Kernels

My first root, eng-off and all that I did through a guide on the internet that included kernel and rom for Leedroid.
Now I've installed AR3.6 and I'm wondering if I need to manually instal a new kernel or if the roms contain the appropriate kernels themselves.
a ROM always includes a kernel, but you can flash another one if you want to.
Yeah can't wait till theres a kernel for ARHD 4B4
here you got your oc kernel rolando88 click me

I wouldn't recommend that for daily use though.. apparently it's buggy as.
i'm using this kernel since an hour now and haven't found any problems yet. battery life seems quite good also but i'll report back after a while

Kernels

Ok, another on of my idiotic questions. Lmao. Which kernel for CM7 latest stable, offers the best functionality. Best wimax and 3G speeds and GPS settings. I want to oc up to 1.2 ghz kinda how stock cm7 does it. What kernels fit that criteria and r the best in ur opinions?

I'm using x99 clocked at 1.2max/460min and it runs amazing. Got 30 hours out of my phone the other day before I turned it off at 2%

I used x99 with CM 7.0.3.1 and WiFi wasn't working so I went back to 7.0.2.1 but I want to upgrade back up. Which kernel works best with the 7.0.3.1 build?
If you're on the latest nightlies, stick with stock for now, a it's 2.6.35 kernel that toast compiled himself, and the other kernels are 2.6.32.

yeah, i would stick with the stock kernel if you're running nightlies. hopefully we can get some of the custom kernels updated to 2.6.35 soon.
I'm running x99's kernal on CM 7.0.3.1 and it's running awesome

Good to hear. Just flashed back up to 7.0.3.1, restoring my apps, and WiFi works now. I might use this stock kernel for a bit but may use x99's again. DL'd the one he posted for CM 7.0.3.1
Also, after I flash the ROM, I reboot, flash the kernel, reboot and then flash Gapps or do I flash gapps, reboot then flash the kernel? I get confused
It goes ROM -> GApps -> Kernel -> Theme
I have had the most success with the x99 kernels.
Great news!
CM 7.0.3.1 and x99 work flawlessly, better than before actually, and LPP works better now too (i.e., hitting home now actually drops down the notification bar rather than just flashing the date for a split second)
If I use the Google apps from the market using the installer in cm7 do I still need to flash the GApps? Just curious?
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App
Gapps have to be flashed to get the market at the very least. Updating the nightlies though, it automatically backs up the gapps, so no need to reflash

No need for all the rebooting, flash rom, gapps, kernel..... ALWAYS flash kernel last.

I'm using the stock CM-7 but I want to add some more stable elements - wifi, 4g and insane battery power - from the nightlies, without flashing a whole new rom. any suggestions?

Kernal for jvp

Which kernal are you guys using for jvp.
Could you answer the following:
1.quadrant score on third run with and without ext4
2.extra support eg.sharpness fix bln etc?
3.does everything work with it, no bugs?stable?
4.custom rom or stock?
Thanks, need some help making my mind up.
First (everytime such a thread comes up)! Its your decision!!
I recommend Semaphore Kernel which is based on Chainfire's initram.ds and has voodoo sound v9, OC/UV (up to 1.2Ghz) and runs flawlessly on JVH,JVO and JVP (on every ROM/Stock FW)
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I also recommed semaphore kernel.
I also recommend semaphore kernel...
my quadrank score on third run with OC to 1.2 Ghz and Ext 4 is 2756
even without any custom kernel, 2.3.4 rocks the quadrant!!
alng with this, u get Voodoo V9

Now I´m going to try semaphore kernel, all the people said this kernel it´s awesome.
I always prefer the stock roms
dark core is pretty nice too, has lagfix, voodoo 9 and everything.
Thanks guys think I will give semaphore a go, so many recommendations. Jvp is a great leap forward in rom development for our galaxy.not sure about overclocking at the moment, feel like I dont need it. btw currently on ramads deodexed jvp with cfroot and juwes ram script.

for now semaphore kernel
Actually stock and supercurio's kernel are the only ones with fixed autobrightness but you have to leave overclock, sharpness fix, voodoo sound etc. With supercurio's you get ext4 lagfix + hacks, this is my choice, waiting for a fixed dark core 2.x.

Choosing the right kernel

Hi all,
My Galaxy S i9000 will arrive tomorrow and I'd like to be prepared how to and which kernel to flash.
I'll probably just flash JVQ, the latest official Gingerbread 2.3.4 ROM. But I can't decide which kernel to use. My main priority is the performance and safety (by this I mean recovery options).
I have found two kernels which might fit my needs.
First of all SpeedMod Gingerbread. It has EXT4 lagfix and sound improvements etc. It seems good to me.
There are no instructions for this one, but my guess is to just flash the .tar with ODIN as PDA?
Second I have found CF-Root. There are clear instructions so I don't need help how to, but is this a good option as a kernel?
What kernel do you think is the best for the Gingerbread ROM JVQ?
Also, what about CWM? How do I boot into this recovery? Does it replace the default recovery?
Sorry for the noob questions, but as you see I'm quiet uncertain about these things, though I've read alot.
Thanks
Stock JVQ ?
Why won't you flash a custom ROM ? For example you could install Insanity's, Darky's, etc... which are sort of "packages" containing everything you are looking for.
Each one of them have a specific forum in Dev, with flashing explanations.
As for kernels, if I ever needed to change, I'd go for Glitch.
I would wait and use cf root when its released and if your not happy with the speed then use an oc kernal.there are many packages that will be available for all the mods you want in the themes section.this way you will be as close to stock as possible avoiding any unwanted issues
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I've considered Darky's 10.1, but I dunno, I don't like the green colors and everything.
Insanity and glitch look cool. I must have overlooked this ROM, I might consider it. Thanks for the tip
Stock with CF-Root seems to be the fastest in Quadrant. I'm in doubt.
bro i think u have to keep Cf-root i install jvq and put Speedmod in it but u cant image it doesnot contain Superuser and cmw after that i install Cf-root it really better then speedmod this time not always.........i hope u can go with cf root
Have you considered other kernels like Semaphore, Galaxian or Talon?
All of these have OC/UV capabilities, EXT 4 and more performance tweaks than CF-Root itself.
Speedmod is currently undergoing major developments (less stable versions being tested). You can wait until it has a stable version before flashing.
And you can buy Voodoo control plus if you want great sound.
I know Talon has Voodoo sound v9 built in. So, take your pick
For stock JVQ I recommend to use stock kernel until the custom kernels have updated JVQ initframs.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I'll look intro Talon. I won't overclock my device as I want it too last as long as possible The Voodoo stuff seems interesting. Would it work if I just flashed it over CF-Root? Guess not. I would have to flash the stock kernel and then Talon again?
With the latest stock JVQ I'm getting 1400 score in Quadrant, kinda low. I'm now attempting to convert to ext4, but the system folder has too less space, trying to move some apps.
Edit:
With everything converted to ext4 I now have 2300, that's better I'll leave it like this I think. I'm fine. Thanks for the tips
In that case i would recommend to use Talon 0.3.1 without OC.

yep, use Stock JVQ 2.3.4 (not deodexed! many errors: phone and browser fcs) and galaxian kernel.
My SGS is flying with that combination
damian kernel flies with jvq and has what you want scores of 3500 to 3700

I flashed it, It's booting up for the first time. How long does it take for 1st boot? LOL
First boot can take a couple minutes with a new ROM
Sent from your mothers house.
It took awhile. He isn't very clear in his directions, do the wipe steps 1-5, flash V2 then V3.2 to bring you up to date on his theme. It seemed to take a longgg time. If it goes past ten minutes booting, rewipe and reflash. Also if you flashed the pershoot kernel as well that seemed to add some extra time for some reason. I'd let the rom boot up, then go back into recovery and flash the pershoot kernel.
2749, stock ROM OC'd to 1.4
I got 3016 with taskv5 n pershoot kernel oc to 1.4
Twelve inches, baby.
