I had bricked my Dell streak today for the first time after many successful flashing occasions (how! I am not too sure). Anyway, if after flashing, your device can't be put into Fast-boot and Recovery mode but Window detected device then download and use QDLTool (repairtool) to un-brick your Dell Streak. This work for me and I was able to re-install Steve Froyo again. Also ensure to check your device manger for correct Qualcomm CDMA driver (I have to download qualcomm cdma technologies msm driver for my system to recognize the Dell Streak).
Hope this will help those with the same problem. Sorry if this was posted B4.
Maybe you could write up steps and then get it stickied to the forum to help those that may have bricked their phone and then dont have have to go through so many post to find a fix

x2 yes that would be great.
I can assure you (those with same problem) that there is a very good chance your device is not fully bricked, took me awhile and going through much posts to able me to resolved this issue. Steps are already written for us by experts, I suggest head over to h***://streakdroid.com/?page_id=92 and read the guides (simple). I take no credit for this solution, only that I wish to help other in needs and point in the right direction.
Oh, I did have problem with finding 'Qualcomm cdma technologies msm' driver but found it at 4shared.c*m.
Thanks .... it returned my streak 5 out of dell logo loop

Hello
I am new here and was wondering if someone could tell me what to do or what I did wrong.
I rooted my phone and put a custom rom on my phone by modaco. When I reboot the phone it will not go pass the dell logo. I followed all the instuctions at the unlockr.com. Followed all the videos.
Can someone tell me if I need to take something off or redo it. I am able to get into the fastboot mode and into the clockwork mod recovery v1.8.1.7 and see all the files and upload files to my sd card if I need to take them out and add through my card on my pc.
I am wondering if I did a step wrong. I also tried to go back to the stock rom and cannot get there because my phone won't boot.
I don't think it is bricked. I think I just made a mistake by skipping a step.
Thank you for your help.

The phone was working and I started to get some errors so I turned my phone back off and have not been able to get passed this dell logo when I turned it back on.
You could try reflashing it I suppose, if if that doesn't work and it's very new you might be able to convince Dell to exchange it as faulty
This is NOT a hardware fault!
Please have a look at this forum:

where you will find answers to ALL your questions.
Success.
Why isn't this a sticky, it's not irrelevant as people still keep doing things they shouldn't

Thank you. I just called Dell Yesterday and I am getting a new one sent. The phone wouldn't even do a factory reset. She said that they have been having problems with them.

Thank you for your help. Getting a new one from Dell.
Hey guys,
Im not new to flashing roms etc,
but this is the first time i have so much trouble with it.
I read the streak how to PDF and followed the instructions on installing superboot.
when i installed superboot, the phone reset itself, and when it turns on, the dell logo shows up and the "home and menu" led starts flashing on and off and the restarts again.
I tried following the instuctions on how to restore the phone, but none of it worked. i specifically followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=805112
and when i try to flash the update.pkg, i get an error at the end about the boot bin or something like that.
anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!
I heard something about a QDL tool i could use...not sure what that is and i couldnt find an exact answer searching the forums.
any help would be greatly appreciated!
EDIT: found a guide on using the QDL tool, im going to try it now wish me luck lol
If u got yours from best buy u need to use QDL. Read carefully and just do as it says
thanks for the tip, it is indeed the best buy exclusive white one....running qdl as we speak
ok everything is good now!
i just need to figure out why when i try to install dj steves rom it gives me
"failed to verify signature"
ok so now i am having a hard time rooting the phone.
I am using the android 2.2 provided from QDL and am trying to root via universal androot which isnt working for me.
any other ways i can root?
note: im using a best buy dell streak
If you are updating to his 1.6 then you dont need to root it.
It it pre-rooted
thanks, I figured it out.
It turns out that the "how to pdf" (while an amazing guide) linked me to outdated versions of the the recovery which is why it would not work.
everything is working now,
running steves 1.6 and loving life. Thanks every one for your help!!!!!

Not Android Development
Please Post in the Correct Forums
Moving to General
ok so I try to load a Update.pkg file and i get the following error message.
FOTA model name mismatched
what is the FOTA?
i can still get it to fastboot but it stop at dell logo please help me. I hate using my old phone is qdl easy to use or my other option is this place called 10,000 cell phone and he says he gonna send it to dell!
Please SEARCH!!!
I will only tell you to do a Factory Reset from the DELL recovery.
If you don't know what that means then you have to search. It's answered in here a million times
First of all, what did you do to your streak prior to this? Did you flash anything? Make sure you flashed the correct amss.mbn for your baseband. If they are not in tunewith each other you will get stuck on dell logo.

There is no Cyanogen for the Dell Streak so why would you try to flash with it
i thought it ws when i read it and thats what cost me!!! (((((((((((
Ok well then flash again with something made for your Streak like StreakDroid 1.9.0, but befor you do that read this thread I leave you here
http://forum.pocketables.net/showthread.php?t=9694
i have read it several times and still cant understand it completely! on how to put on root of memory card.. is there anybody i can pay thru paypal that can fix it im that desparate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! even by phone walking me thru it
That means...put it on the memory card,do not put it inside any of its folders.
i have streak droid 1.9.0 on sd card but cant get it to wor. when i try to update pkg. from sd card i get this " android sytem recovery utility gausb1a135331 to perform an emergency software recovery you will need to in microsd containing an update file (/sdcard/update.pkg) to download an update file."
you might be better off using QDL Tool and start again, I have found that it is always better to start from a working devise, there is also a video walk through to help you as well
You have to have StreakMod or Clockwork flashed to phone to use one of the custom ROMs. If you're getting that message that means our phone still is using the factory recovery image (all this is in the guide I posted for you that you claim to have read but obviously haven't).
Your best bet since you still have the custom recovery intact is to download a stock ROM update.pkg from the DELL Streak WiKi page and flash that.
I'd be more than happy to walk you through doing any of this over the phone but I live in Costa Rica and I don't think you wanna call hear, but that's up to you. I wouldn't charge you anything of course, mainly because the call wouldn't be cheap.
oddbubble when i click on QDL tool link that page says "error 404 page not found" ive looked every where for QDL tool and no luck!!! @cdzo72 $3.00 a minute to costa rica WOOWW
streakflash will do the same thing, its just meant to be used for bricked devises
Pre-requisites to flashing ROM:
1. Have small amount of technical ability, not much really.
2. Be able to read and follow instructions, lots of this ability is required.
3. Know how to use Google Search.
4. Tie your own shoes. Really says a lot about you if you can do this.
5. Walk and chew gum.
If you do not posess any of the above, a brick is usually what you get. Again try searching. The answer to your question is out there, because a thousand other fools have asked the exact same questions. Plus side to searching is keeps the forums free of clutter.

To install StreakDroid you should use StreakMod Recovery. It sounds like you still have the stock recovery installed.
.pkg files install with stock recovery
.zip files install with custom recobery
fix it i dl 353 pkg and recovery and it works NOW that for all your input fellas
Hey man happy for you... NOW that you know how to revive it then do A LOT more reading and in a few days you can try to flash the good stuff again (StreakMod and StreakDroid)
Hello, my DVP suddenly went bonkers and all i get is the DELL boot logo. I tried going into recovery to restore but pc wont detect. I cant do anything. i cant install anything using cab sender since cant detect and i cant unbrick due to same reason....anyone know how to fix this? Thank you in advance.
It sounds like the internal SD card crapped out. You could try my unbrick method but it sounds like it isnt being detected. Check in device manager to see if the USB device is being detected.
no detection at all. my friend told me he installed something on it using cab sender. Don't know what files were used but if need ill ask him. If only connection still worked i can restore stupid phone.
Anyone has any idea what to do? phone is just being paper weight now would like to use it again

i had the same problem with other DVP, and i think that the processor is dead, because the snapdragon QSD8250 have this issue, i know but some month´s ago, i buyed two non working hd2, thinking that have problems of software and after research many days, i find this problem ,this proccesor dies for overheating , to solve this i buyed two hd2 with broken display and change the board, for this reason, buyed a broken dvp to do the same, ...sorry for the bad news,
Im pretty sure its not a cpu issue, i mentioned my friend force install something using cab sender and the issue happened because of that. Im trying to figure out how to recovery from this issue. thanks for help anyways

I agree with you. I have the same problem because of skipped upgrading of ROM, form 7004 to 7720. I have tried some steps on the device,
and find JTAG pins on board, now I'm seeking a riffbox to fix the problem, maybe Nosker can answer if this is feasible. I had followed his thread here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1207805
Just for your reference...
seems very interesting. I hope you guys are able to proceed with what you guys are doing. I read the thread, so if i were to fix it i would need a riftbox? im very noobie in the stuff mentioned in the thread but if you guys are able to give a guide then i can follow it . best of luck to you guys!
did you guys ever got this resolved? i'm having the same problem.
ok... anyone tell me, what's happen, when we re-write sd card from another device?

Has anyone come up with a fix for this issue? my DVP will come on and the DELL logo will appear for a few seconds then the connect to pc screen
comes up and thats all it will do. when this first started happening I could take the battery out and put it back in like 50 times and it would finally start working and it would stay working until the battery went dead now I can't get it to boot at all. any info would be great thanks
A while back i hard bricked my N4, and got it replaced, but i kept the broken one, hoping to get it working again. It shows up as "qhsusb_dload" on my computer and says i need the drivers for it. But i cant seem to find the drivers for qhsusb_dload, so if anyone could give me a link for those drivers, it would be a great help.

No fastboot, no recovery, no anything. /:
I know its a hard brick, but there are drivers for this for other models of android, and ive read of people having success with some phones once they get the drivers for it.

Give him a break. The least you can do is not be an asshole.
OP: Linux might help you, you don't need drivers on Linux.
I've tried some Linux recovery tool for my old galaxy player 5.0, however i wasn't successful. I'm not sure is there any recovery tool based on Linux for the Nexus 4

qhsusb_dload is what is used to initially load firmware onto the phone. (From what ive read so far) so i cant imagine the company that does this are the ONLY people that the software to do so, unless theres some hardware stuff they do, (which i havent found any proof of this). Still worth a shot to me, and like i said, im just trying to give it a SHOT. Not looking for people to just say, "oh its not possible" unless they have experience with this sort of thing. Thanks.
