just got my htc hero

what should i do first anyone wanna help me here??? what are good apps, or roms to try and stuff. new to android just looking for some help.
my idiot friends did it i signed in on his comp

start by looking in the guide wiki page read everything you cn in there so that you completely understand what you are doing. then the first thing to do is root.

use the pre-kitchen. it's the easiest way to get root on your phone.
find it in the ROMS sticky wiki.
ROMs are also in the sticky wiki. i'd say go with fresh 1.1 or gumbo 1.5c for now, and when you get a better knowledge of what's going on then maybe test on like 2.1 and stuff.

hey friends i'm a huge htc fan...i had the fuze,then the tilt 2 and now the hd2 yay well i need some help i read alot of info for the phone and now so i'm confuused..i have the unbranded hd2..i think its has the 521 flash memory...well i wanted to use Nrg rom on my phone...so what should i do exactly to avoid bricking my phone cuz i've read alot of ppl bricking their phone...so pls bear with me and help me friends

hey sorry i am new this is my first post
i am on the nand android on my htc hd2 and i cant seem to find swype or a rom with swype if someone could point me in the correct direction i would b greatly thankful

go there with your phone, and register with them. they will e-mail you a link to the new beta for android.

Ok, well since it's your first post, I'll help ya out. Google swype since it's in beta and follow the link to their website. It's in Open Beta right now and you can sign up and download it to your phone for free and legit.
Also you might want to post in the general forum since this is a development thread.
Just letting you know before someone flames you and your post gets moved by a mod. Don't get offended, we've all had our first post and got flamed. Good luck and see ya around.

You're not going to find a ROM with Swype in it, it's against the rules.

I did this process and now they said my phone is not Android phone and the swype instalation can not continue..
mine htc hd2 is with CoreDroidv1.12 and it seems to be fine, but why it's not Android yet..

Unrevoked 3.22

I and several others have been looking for Unrevoked V3.22 (reflash_package.exe), but is imposible to find since the gov shut all the file servers down. If anyone has a copy of this on their pc and could upload it to mediafire or dev-host, i and others would be eternialy gratefull, and im sure your thanks button would get hit several times too.
EDIT: I ment to post this in Q&A section. Not sure how i put it in General, must have hit the wrong button on the XDA app.

Only thing i can find is 3.21 for the evo4G

Thats awesome man, thanks a ton. I saw the two links in scottys op but one was dead and the other said it was out of bandwith, i totally missed that post.

Thanks for the links. I tried something...not sure what..now not able to move from the white screen. I can go to ACE HACK KIT menu but not able to see my main window. Scared already due to my silly work...phone gone? Can anyone advice? Thank you so much.

Already rooted? Go to the link I posted, post#7. Try and boot into recovery.
Give more details next time. Knowing what you did helps fixing your issue.

I'm having DHD with Android 2.3.5 and Sense 3.0, i've bought it a year and a half ago, and I never touched it, so it is unrooted and has it's original (stock) room.
Now I'd like to flash a custom rom to it, I've done a lot of research and found out I need to downgrade my device to be able to root it. Now, I've spent hours looking for a proper guide of how to downgrade the device and root it, but found nothing really.
Can you help me? I've almost given it up :S

I am not sure how bootloaded would be..? I tried to re-root again I am getting this error. Could you able to find my mistake from here?

I kept getting that on my first ever root attempt. Turns out it was my lead. Make sure it's the original lead. (mine was actually the original but it was faulty, did charge still though) hope this helps.

You need to use AAHK (Advanced Ace Hack Kit). You can no longer find it on XDA.
But if you search google for AAHK you will find their support page, and you can download it from there.
Also mae ksure to read the manual (called the effin' manual). Don't skip a word!!
Also, since you are on 2.3.5 you need to downgrade. Instructions are on the effin manual.

The guide was written by glevitan, thus, he deserves the thanks. All I did was point you in the right direction (and proof-reading that guide about 5 times before it was uploaded ).
