A friend of mine has a new Vodafone 945 (seems to be ZTE Joe, very much like San Francisco), and while trying to delete some Vodafone junk with Titanium Backup, the googleapps.apk was deleted (probably some other apk, I'm not sure). Now Market opens and closes instantly and Gmail app does not work. Already copied googleapps.apk from another phone, but still no luck. No backup was made.
Is it possible to fix this issue?

probably need a dump of the system partition for that. did you not back up with titanium or create a dump yourself before modifying system files?(stupid question i know, otherwise you wouldn't be here but just to clarify please)
No backup was created before deleting files. I tried to flash the ClockworkMod recovery, it seems to flash but can not boot into the recovery. It seems the ZTE blade custom recovery does not work on Vodafone 945.
I have gapps for small resolution devices but how do I flash it without using recovery?

Here you have an Original Vodafone 945 Dump:

Just root the phone and Copy & Paste every apk file to the phone...
Or
Backup everything from the phone, and apply a Factory Reset!

I have a friend over on the east coast that isnt following direction as well as one would hope and is a little scared about rooting his phone and getting it to be as good as my X is. I finally got it rooted for him but he is freaking out about using a clean nandroid backup i sent him and dumping it in the correct directory for nandroid backup and restore giving him a clean image of my phone...
I had assumed that this would have been the easiest method but it got me thinking.
Could i rename my nandroid back up folder the ending tree folder that holds the .android_secure.img, cache.img, data.img, nandroid.md5 and system.img ... like clockworkmod/backup/2010-11-25.05.05.13 could i just pop all those files into a .zip named whatever and direct him to clockwork recovery and flash zip from sd card?
Or could someone point me into a direction on how to accomplish that? I think i would like to also do it for my self and upload it to my dropbox account for later access or to share with friends.
I noticed when i opened like the latest rubix rom that it didnt contain any files similar to that so im curious if its possible.
Also one last question, while i have your technicle mind at attention..
Could someone answer me, in Titanium backup it gives you the option to create a update.zip, then it gives you two radio buttons one says titanium backup will be installed as user application and then System application.
I know that the whole create update.zip thing is for flashing it to the rom from recovery. But what is the diffrence bewteen those two options. What is best and what is the diffrence..
Thanks for letting me pick your Brains!
One drawback of giving him your nandroid backup is that it contains YOUR gmail account with your contacts, facebook account (if applicable), among all other sorts of your personal stuff. In my past experience, you can ADD a gmail account to the phone, but you cannot get rid of the primary/original account so he will have both on there. Other than that, it actually does work though (at least it did on the Droid 1).
Wipe your data and make a nandroid before you reboot and sign in. that way your accounts won't be tied to it

Your friend - with all due respect if he's having that much trouble with something this simple I really don't think he should be screwing around with root access in the first place. If he has that little understanding of administrator-level access, why on earth does he even want root? He won't even know what to do with it.
Not trying to be harsh, just trying to understand.
Flash Nandroid - NO, don't do it! I'm sure it can be done, but not in the way you described.
Titanium Backup - system apps reside in /system/app as opposed to /data/app. The only real difference is that system apps will still be there after you do a factory reset.
If your going to let your friend flash a nandroid, then you need to remove your gmail and social applications. If you wipe data as mentioned above you'll lose all non-system apps...basically everything you've installed and set up, which is most likely what you're trying to give him. The only way I can think to make this work is to first create a backup for your use, then remove everything that requires you to log in with adb, then replace all of the apps you removed (extract the rom your running and look in system/app for them - data/app apps can be installed from the market). Reboot the phone to verify that all of your accounts are gone, create the new backup and send it to him. Then flash the backup you made for your use.
The easiest way to give him "your set up" would probably be to make a full backup with titanium (not an update.zip). Backup all user apps and system data. Go into the titanium folder on your sd card and delete all files except the .apk files that have anything to do with gmail or social apps. Have him flash the same rom, copy your titanium file to his sd card, and restore all apps and system data to his phone.

so i accidentally deleted my stock phone and/or contacts app.
does anyone have an .apk or knows where i can dl it?
or any other solution for the problem.
thanks.
If you used Root Explorer, you have trouble. Probably the best solution is to re-flash stock ROM with SEUS. You might also try using .sin files decryption from flashtool files, but it's a little difficult.
i used the wrong expression, i didn't delete them, i just uninstalled them. according to what you thought, i guess the .apks still exist on my phone. but i don't know where. :/
or don't they?
Check in system/app using Root Explorer. If you won't find them, they're probably deleted and hard to restore.
What ROM do you use? If it's cooked ROM, you can get the .apk simply by unziping the ROM archive, you've downloaded in system/app.
I have found the .apks.
I have installed them but nothing. I tried deleting the data and reinstalling but nothing. I believe they would show up in menu if i deleted them completely and installed them again. But in the app manager i can only stop the process and wipe the data, i can't uninstall..
I have uninstalled them with another app, fast uninstaller for root.
Flash the ROMĀ“s update.zip again.
or restore a backup of the same ROM with advanced restore, so that you only restore /system.
wow, that's clever. i flashed the whole ROM, never thought of only restoring the /system. :/
but it's solved.
Hi everyone, I've changed my rom because it was giving me some problems (WiFi doesn't work anymore even after the full wipe), so I've installed Kuyadroid. I remember there was an "hacked" apk of the Sony Ericsson Backup and Restore that worked with the roms. I had it in the previous rom and I did backup my sms, now I want to restore them and I don't find this apk. Any help?

unfortunately I have no access to my old data and the only thing I have is my latest backup with spf format.
any other suggestion?
always we keep a recovery backup..
The most important data is your contacts.. the other staff can you find manually
The only way is to flash again your previous custom rom install again backup and restore app and restore data with the app(maybe it will work on the rom you make the backup),and backup your data again but with other method..
Also look and this old thread
I think you can't restore the sbf file with other tool..but you can read it with a windows app(Google it)
The path of your sbf backup file is in: sd card/data/backup

Hi guys.
I was playing with my rooted device, but something went wrong after upgrading SuperUser from the market and
I wasn't unable to login as root anymore (neither through adb nor through terminal emulator).
The tremendous problem is that in the meanwhile I have got rid of all Lenovo useless apps, but also of Mobility Manager! Without this program I am not able to apply the rooting exploit again!!!
So, please, someone could send me the Mobility manager apk (I was in 0076_WE)? Is there a way I could restore the 0076_WE full image?
Thanks a lot!
UPDATE: I found the Mobility Manager apk, but even if I reinstalled it, the root exploit is still not working! I guess I have to try with a full image!
there aren't full roms as far as i know but you can download your version here:
http://download.lenovo.com/slates/think/tablet1/
Don't know if its flashable again but you can extract the zip files an get the mobility manager apk.

Unfortunately, even if I reinstall Lenovo mobility manager, it goes under the "data" folder not the system one. From there, the root exploit doesn't work!!!

I flashed a no bloatware zip file and it is now gone. I couldnt find watchon in the playstore so i downloaded the apk. I found 2 apk files. One of them does not showanywhere in the drawer nor i can open it when i install it. The other one is tv.peel.samsung.app , and when i install it and open it from the drawer , it closes after a second or two.
I also re-applied these 2 files that im trying to install into system/app and the other one as well , i also put them into system/priv-app.
What can i do to get this app back ? I really want it !
Thanks.
If putting them back in the system isn't working, you may have to bit the bullet and reflash your ROM again.. Or restore your backup, you made one right? -- if you didn't I guarantee you will next time lol -
