No matter what spl/radio/rom i use it resets the after trying to turn on wifi in Settings. But also, sometimes works for days. It already happened 4 times, so i sought to get help. Here is a logcat of the event.
http://pastebin.com/rnxj34Ee
Just after the end of the logcat it reboots without warning. I'm hopping some android guru can help. I've tried to disable compcache and lower vmheap to 12 but no luck.
Oh, and another thing. This command "getprop ro.cid" doesn't show anything. Not related to above, but still a problem.

You need to take this to your ROM dev they aren't going to stumble across it here. Post it in the appropriate section for the ROM you are using there the dev will see it.
Like i said it's not rom related. It happens with all the roms i've tried. I've changed many radio/spls and roms.

EDIT - Are you on 32A or 32B hardware?
Have you SAPPIMG'd back to Cupcake, then manually applied the OTA updates to 1.6 and then 2.2? You need to completely unroot this thing all the way and get it back to bone stock before you continue to troubleshoot.
It's possible you have bad hardware and need warranty replacement from T-mobile.
The links for everything you need are in my sig. If any of the links are dead, pm me. I have the files in my DropBox.
Very nice and thanks. But i can't sync it with HTC Sync, doesn't see it. And it was originaly on Vodafone Spain, so is your sappimg going to work on it? It's a 32b board, btw. Further help is appreciated, because i wanted to return to stock rom but i could not.

I'm glad you asked! I did a little research and it appears that this file is for the mt3g on t-mobile ONLY. This thread is a fairly complete list of original RUU files, so the one you want should be in there.

Hey Guys
New to the forums and happy to be here
Girlfriend bought a HTC Magic on ebay from an Aussie seller. Its second hand of course.
In great condition but noticed that it does not have the standard ROM on it. It has CyanogenMod 3.937 on it. My gf wants exactly what i have on my phone and that is the standard ROM. How do i do this?
For some reason also in the current rom i cant get into the market? it does not load up?
My gf just wants it on the standard ROM and how it would and should be factory defaulted when you first get it.
I have posted on another site that directed me here, one said i would be crazy to go back to stock and i should update it to a stable version and market and that should fine then.
What are peoples suggestions here?
If that makes sense?
Really would appreciate you guys help on this!!!!
Thanks guys
Mmmm if you have the same Magic (both has the 32A or 32B for example) I think you can try to root your phone, make a wipe and then a nandroid backup, after that, copy the nandroid backup to the SD card of your girlfriend, and in her Magic do a Wipe and then a nandroid Restore... That should leave you both with the same rom I think...
Remember that you need to have the same magic (32A the both or 32B)... Do not try to do it with a 32A and a 32B (different magics)...
Very simple, go to www.htc.com, create an account for e-support, register the Magic (serial number is used).
Then download a ROM image from the HTC site, using the serial of the phone.
Instructions are included when running the .exe file from HTC.
This will restore to the ROM originally shipped with that phone.
Alternatively, you can enter YOUR serial, download the ROM from HTC for your phone, and install that one.
Just make sure if you do the seconf one that your gf phone is exactly the same (32A/32B) as yours.

when you're not sure what's going on, asap is probably not going to happen.
give her your phone instead and then you can take your time to learn what's what with customising these phones.
to work out which phone you have (32A or 32B) power off the phone and turn it back on by holding down the power button and the back arrow key.
you'll get a screen showing three androids on skateboards.
at the top will be a bunch of info beginning with something like sapphire pvt 32b eng s-off g and finishing with a time stamp.
write down all of the info for both phones and post it in here.
then people can advise you on which phones you have.
EDIT: you can read up on some more info here...
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Sapphire
I see you are on Vodafone.
This is for some reason not downloadbale from HTC site.
So I suggest you read this thread to restore the original ROM.
It is tricky, since you will need to use Nandroid backup/restore.
Note, you can also backup your ROM this way and restore to you GF phone, but that involves modding your phone aswell.
So, if you are from AU, this is the thread to read:

Hey,
My missus just bought a HTC Hero from feabay and it doesn't have android market on it!
I've been trolling the threads on here and I gather the only way to get it on there is to root the phone and flash a new ROM onto it.
Now, I'm really not very confident in attempting this so I just want to clarify what I am planning on doing is correct.
First, I need to root the phone using the tutorial on Unlockr:
How To: Root Your HTC Hero in One Click! (Updated 03.07.10!)
Then, I need to Load a custom ROM using the tutorial on Unlockr:
How To: Load a Custom ROM on Your HTC
Is that all I need to do?
Also, where can I download a good ROM to use?
I know that this has probably been covered but I've noticed the process changes depending which phone firmware is already installed.
I checked my gf's phone and this is what is said:
HERO CVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-1.76.0007 (HERO10000)
MICROP-010f
TOUCH PANEL-SYN0104
RADIO-6.35.07.08
Aug 4 2009, 19:43:30
Once again, sorry for asking a stupid question that everyone probably knows the answer to, but I really don't want to screw up her phone.
Any advice, opinion or links would be greatly appreciated.

Hi again Poorboy,
Please stop taunting people and making smartass remarks, try to be helpful instead.
Jesterarts,
Try flashing one of the RUU images if you want the stock rom, sounds like someone flashed an AOSP rom on it.
Kr,
-Kevin
I see,
I downloaded one of the RUU Image .exe files for the unbranded Hero (i'm assuming mine is unbranded... well... since there is no branding on it )
So all I have to do is install sync, run the RUU .exe and I'll be sweet??
Cool, I will give that a bash when I get home.
Thanks for that info, should save me ALOT of screwing about if it works!
*Fingers crossed*
PS, Poorboy1 you are a douche. That is all.
Didn't work... it said Customer ID invalid. I tried a number of RUU's.
Sigh.
If you are getting a CID error, you need to create a Goldcard.
Regards,
Dave
Yeah, managed it with a gold-card... once I found the right RUU anyway.
Needed one that started in 273.xxx.etc, etc
Anyway, thanks for your help guys.
Now that it's working, gf is stoked with the phone...
Cheers!
i love it how your "missus" turned into a "gf"

I would recommend reading everything in this thread. yes you can revert back to stock after flashing new ROMs. I highly recommend doing research before you start...that means searching. All the answers you will need are contained within existing threads.
Yes, you can restore the original ROM. In the guides to root it tell you to make a nandroid backup. That'll let you restore the original ROM.

Thanks to all and that is exactly what I was looking for. I have done some mods with a Tilt in the past but nothing with my Hero. Now to choose a ROM that still lets the Sprint Navigation work - don't care about most of the other apps that came with it.

just about any of the roms out there have a working sprint nav.
Since the merger we now have stock RUUs and ROM images in the same forum.
I don't know for sure what happens if you try and flash one on the "wrong" phone, e.g. the G2 RUU on a DZ, or a DZ ROM on a G2. Given they have different stock hboots and hence different stock partitioning, it's not a good idea. Anyone know what happens though (I'm not asking someone to try it for me right now, just wondering if anyone tried in the past) ?
I was just wondering if we should perhaps get some warnings put up in the posts on the stock ROMs to make it clear not to flash these on the "wrong" phone.
Any thoughts ?
P.S. Flashing custom ROMs on either phone is fine, just in case I've confused anyone here. It's just a complete stock image including hboot etc that I'm talking about.
I will be working on getting the forums back in order this weekend. I can add warnings to the OP's I just need to know which ones and what type of warning. Any helps on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
@Mikey & @TDC If you read this, I know you guys have the phones so if you want to help me out on this also I would love you forever!

Unless I've missed one, all other ROMs are custom ones which should be fine on either phone.
Ok all threads now contain a warning. I will post an announcement later in hopes that ppl will make this a standard. Thanks for your help!
Surely it shouldn't matter.
They are the same phone, and the ruu flashes everything, so surely it will just re-partition the phone to its own requirements??
Edit: only prob I foresee, would be flashing a sense ruu to a g2. Because if the ruu doesn't re-partition the phone, the sense ruu won't fit.
Correct me if I'm wrong?

It would be good to know this for sure. There's an hboot in the ROM image and I'm not sure that anyone has tried flashing the "wrong" hboot to their phone. It might works as you say, but then again it might end up with a brick.
The hboot contains references to the partitioning but I'm not sure a ROM flash actually repartitions the storage. I would love to know for certain.
Right now, I think it's best to stay on the safe side
Im sure when i rooted my first dz .. i used visionary.. and then flashed a g2 engineering hboot.
Im sure at the time that was the only one available.

Okay this thread is for the My Touch 1.2/Fender OTA to be released 1/12/11. If you have any insight as to what we need to do to "catch" this update please post here. I know a lot of people are going to say the Magic OTA has already been released but this is a different phone that was not included in the first update and I'm sure the Magic forum Moderator knows this better than most. Does anyone know for sure if we can just be on the stock Fender ROM with root and still receive the OTA? Any information regarding this topic is welcome please post for the rest of us!

Use logcat (search this forum) to capture the download link(s).
Expecting three separate zip files we collectively need links for. First should be new hboot/radio package. Second will be the ROM package for each device (one for for 1.2 and one for Fender.)
Edit: No more than two files, we already have hboot and a radio update (if any) would be packaged with the ROM itself. - K
Now what I want to know is will this keep my phone from rebooting when I get a Gmail or SMS notification while using Google Nav and Pandora radio at the same time?
Kind Regards,
Kevin

I unrooted the wifes phone to make sure it catches the update. I'll be sticking with CM 6.1. I'm going to have her not do the updates when she gets prompted so I can pull the links. I don't imagine we'll see an SPL update, but I'm thinking we might get the new radio. We'll see, unless its in that announcement from T-Mobile already.

I found a nice one in the market and the best thing about is after testing the logcat won't start when I start the app it will have information from long before the app starting point so this should work nicely.- See the update message start the logcat and it should go back far enough to include when the message was sent and any temporary cache download links (lets hope) This should get me the first one till I get home and hook to my computer-will running the ddms during the update process get any subsequent links?

If you are just using the stock just for the Swype keyboard you can look into SlideIT. Can't remember how much it costs but it's pretty much the same thing. Really. Some may even argue that it's better.
Regarding the update for the rooted stock roms... you should be able to get the update still. My theory is that the rom, spl and radio would be the only thing to get the update. Rom (stock), SPL, (1.33.0013), radio (2.22.23.02) possibly kernel. If any of these are different then you may not get the update. Another theory of mine is that it may require a certain build.prop file. It's been a while but I'm pretty sure that I used the same build.prop file in my rooted stock rom. So either way I don't see why you wouldn't still get the update.
Looks like I need to find a flashable 2.23.XX radio I switched to the 2708 radio when it came out.
