Hello all
Is anyone running their vega without a version of pauls Rom?
If so, why?
And how have you gone about making it useable? Ie any tweaks and apps that makes life beareable with the stock os.
I know some folks have had trouble with drivers and so cant/wont upgrade.
Love to know
Rgds

I had mine stock for about 24 hours, but you could install stuff like marketplace etc from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=910105. The modaco rom add-on just makes in a one run proceeder. Cant fault paul at modaco's work its great, just the means.
Hopefully a way to install the performance pack, without adding to the modaco rom add-on can be hammered out.

Hey all, just posting my experience upgrading from JF 1.51 US to the new OfficialCRC1 US (Fully loaded, see sig for link). Since JF has left us, its time to move on, like many of others here who worry about upgrading, wiping etc, wanted to let you know that the officialcrc1 is perfect to goto. (Cyans build is also great for those pioneers who keep up with his updates and always want the hottest items etc) Those of you who just want a clean upgrade with good performance I will recommend this one.
I upgraded perfectly! I was using Lucids script for apps2sd and the conversion to the new rom went flawless, no wipe, no force close issues nothing. My notes is as followed:
- Fixed my terminal issue where it was always in # even tho it wasnt in su mode. (Now the $ is back yeaaa)
- Emulators run ALOT smoother! (Yeaaa GBA doesnt skip as much)
- Speed has increased overall.
- Couple nice extras built in, Office and Wireless tether.
- Marketplace cache and everything else there has stayed perfectly. (Only thing that may change is various system settings)
- Compcache working perfectly and smooth, great expert setup mode to alter between that and linux-swap.
Now then notes to take care of before upgrading and notes for after:
- Turn off auto start on Swapper and/or SetCPU if you use them, as the rom handles that now.
- ODEX files, if you made odex files, this rom will remove them and on each boot, it will remove them. Lucids script is not able (As of the moment) able to recreate them. Upgrade to both the script and the ROM for handling/creating odex files are in the works for a update. So this fixed my tmobile visual voicemail.
Anyways, I am very happy with this rom build and wanted to make a post for anyone else who hesitates or worries like alot of us do when switching over rom builds. I will be posting benchmark results soon on my other thread.
So goodluck on your upgrades and thanks to JF for his work in the past. =)
Wait I thought if you went back to official than you would lose root, so how do you still have apps2sd, wi-fi tether, and compchace or linux swap since they are all root level access, are you sure that is an official rom and if so it might have something to do with the non wiping. Most likely you will lose root for sure with any ota updates. I am confuddle
Click OfficialCRC1 in my sig. =) Its what the dev calls it, Its a upgraded version of JF in a sense, Where JF kept it true to a Tmobile build, so is eno. =)
Yeah, that's not official since it is moddified, to give users the same feel as the stock roms but with su permissions and a couple other tweaks, so you might want to change it so people don't get confuddle, maybe stocklike crc1 build because this won't update with new ota s
Why change it? The dev himself on this thread has called it this. Anyone who knows the rom builds knows the name already. But Ill add Enos in it.
Great post, thanks for sharing
Hi Mysticales,
I read this post and am glad you're sharing your upgrade experiences with others. I'm also glad all went well for you when you when upgrading from a JF build to my newer CRC1-based-US ROM. There are also EU and ADP equivalents available.
I trust most users would have the same ease in upgrading.
So again, thanks for sharing your experiences, much appreciated!
To be clear, the ROM she speaks of is fully rooted and more info can be found here ...

Hi!
I have the strangest question
My phone is reaaallly slow, so I figured I'd do a hard reset and reinstall everything.
My question is, what should I do
Basically I just want the latest version of windows mobile and HD2 updates. To get it really up to date
So can you give me any recommendations on what exactly I should update?
Thanks
The easiest way is probably to flash a custom rom..... one of the newer ones.
Should contain all the freshest updatey goodness and give the speed your looking for.......
Best thing to do is work out which apps you liked and what worked and do a hard reset back to factory spec and only install the apps you like...
After getting the phone most of us install every app that comes along, settling for a few that are essential... Hard resetting and fresh installs will help greatly...
Only go a custom rom if you really know what you are doing and only if you are dedicated to try several to find one that suits you...

I know I used to do so with my old telephone (TYTN II), but recently I spoke with a friend of mine (he has a HD2 too). He's really into computers etc, and he has the latest roms and everything. He told me that his phone is A LOT faster now.
The only thing is: I have no idea where to start. Just download the latest windows mobile? or should I download the latest HTC HD2 rom? Or both? In what order? Any other updates?

Before i went down the custom rom route i did modify a stock 1.66 rom so i can make a comparison here between as shipped stock, modded stock and custom 6.5.5. I can tell you that 6.5.5 is miles better, faster and if you get a custom rom with a newer version of sense that's even better.
Flashing custom roms has been covered so many times many people are bored of replying but i'll see what i can do in one post.
First you need a copy of HSPL3. Search for it, it will turn up. Don't ask how to install it. All you need to do is run the exe in the file you download.
Then you have a choice. You can either install and updated radio rom (will possibly improve signal and battery life but to find the best one for you and your area may take a couple of flashes and some testing) or just skip straight to the main event. I recommend that all new rom flashers use Energy 23569 standard sense 2.5 because it's fast, pretty lightweight and very close to a HTC stock rom in looks which makes it pretty easy to use. To install follow the instructions in the first couple of posts of the energy rom thread.
I also recommend that you have a look at leocpuspeed V4 and chainfire's 3D driver patch v2 (search for those). Once configured they will greatly improve the performance of the device running any rom you install and it's well worth it.
if you dont wanna go custom rom, i guess you could check see if you have all the latest updates from the HTC site, take it from there, only install apps to the device that need to be on the device such as tweaking apps and install everything else on the sd card, and get your self clean ram or bsb ram sweeper, will reclaim the ram for you from the programs you thought you may have closed but didnt really close.
New official rom OS_Acer_1.100.39.EMEA.GEN1_A21E_A
Download:
OS_Acer_1.100.39.EMEA.GEN1
Does not work for everyone
Link to Mirror with fast DL
I found it also in the Acer official Driver Download page...
I'm from Italy, but i notice that if you visit the page from USA you can't see it.
I'm newbie... so, I can't insert url
If you go to the Italian site, you have to select "Android 2.1 Eclair" where there is "Sistema Operativo"
P.S.
Sorry for my bad english
anyone tried this? how is it? is it worth the update from the .05 w/lain-suxsem (that is really fast and stable)

ill wait for an LCR customized version of this bin
I rooted my Liquid from firmware 2.000.16.EMEA.CUS1 to Acer_LiquidE_1.100.05_EMEA_GEN1 and now installing this but whats the difference between this and LCR_1.7 by:malez2000?
this is a official stock rom, the official upgrade for acer liquid by acer.
yeah i know its the official one. So i guess i am asking if the LCR1.7 is based off a older leaked rom. does it have benifits to install that version instead of this offical.
However, I have sinced installed the official so i am running that now. I would still like to know if the LCR is better.
additionally dont want to start a new thread, can you hide the apps in the menu? I know you cant uninstalled stock apps as they are built into the rom but remove them from the menu. Out of sight out of mind type thing.
After installing and using the new 2.1 ROM during a few days, I'm out of internal memory space.
I've uninstalled most of the applications, but I'm unable to recover more than a few Mo
So I'm not actually completely happy with the new room.
IF you are willing to root your device, you can use malez recovery to move apps to sdcard. It creates a partition (generally 500 megs+) onto your sdcard allowing you to place your apps there. If that runs low, you can go back into recovery and move davlik cache onto sdcard.
If you do this, I think you need a custom rom which is compatible with apps2sd.
I would wait until one of the many cooks in this community make one based on this newest bin.
I downoladed this one and installed it today on my Acer Liquid. Strangely enough, I couldn't find it on acer support page. Tried different countries and languages - nothing. They might have removed it because it has bugs?
Anyway, tried this download - 2.1 is much better looking than my old 1.6.
If I get any problems I'll post them here.
So, I installed the Energy Cookie ROM yesterday. I really like all the icons and whatnot, but for me, it seems to run a little slower than the stock ROM + Tweaks, and the animations are slightly laggy. So, I'm going to change.
I am thinking that since the stock ROM ran so well, maybe that's my best bet. So, if I am possibly switching back anyway, I am wondering if there is a stock'ish ROM that is slightly cooked to remove some bloatware, and I can add my own stock apps back if needed? Anyone know of a good ROM that fits the bill? I'd be open to a chef ROM if it will run faster than stock and has the bugs (at least the vast majority of them) worked out. Any thoughts/suggestions?
Also, and I will search in a sec, but I'm already posting this so I might as well ask (if I find an answer, I'll edit this), since I installed the HSPL, and I flashed the ROM via USB (not the SD Card), am I right in thinking I can just flash a new (TMOUS compatible) ROM without any other mods or processes (I'll hard reset after)?
Thanks. I'll flash something as soon as I get some replies, so bring on the suggestions! Again, Thanks!

Best one I've found, right here.
Mine is as stock as you can get for the TMOUS HD2, same layout as EURO HD2...runs fast,stable....and is completely null of TMOUS bloatware....

yes, it's called Miri's Rom i belive. i've been using it since may and oh my, everything is smooth and it even has e reader tab and there are like 10 books included! that is the only customized thing in that rom. trust me, you will like it! Unforunately, the version i have has been discontinued, but if you can give me your email address, i can email the rom to you. But the newer one has 4 shortcuts, instead of regular 3 on homepage, and has rssfeed ready. You can see it for your self http://htcpedia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1786 but i like the one that got discontinued because it looks like stock rom rather than custom rom.
I have been on a hunt for the cleanest and fastest stock version, I was about to switch to Wild Child's but I realize this one is a bit more cleaner:

Hi folks.
I've just been given this phone by a friend who has just upgraded to a Galaxy S2. I'm running a HTC Sensation myself but the handset looks like it should still be a useful upgrade for my daughter if I could get a custom ROM on it.
Almost all the DL links from the DEV sub-section seem down though. I did get Jazzman's ROM eventually but can anyone still playing with this device tell me if this is a good, bad or indifferent ROM to try. I don't want to waste time installing a bad'un.
I see from reading other threads that all custom ROMs seemed to have inherited a camera bug which could be partially fixed by reinstalling the default camera app (but no settings are ever saved). Did anyone ever get beyond that or did folks simply get newer phones and move on?
Lastly, if anyone still has a few of the old ROMS DL'd on their computer (Artos' anyone??) and could upload them somewhere for me and others to get access again, then that would be great.
Hoping someone can help. It's definitely too good to be binning it without trying something.....

Hey Crommy, did you upgrade to the latest stock rom? That really soves most of the issues with the device and is quite decent by itself.

there is no latest stock rom for me, i was using a EN-AR Rom B, the latest one is C with no Arabic support , so i downloaded brain master Manila , its Great !, it hangs 80 % less than the old one, Plus its faster, only issue found is the twitter tab when i login it says you are forbidden to use these account, at desktop and mobile browser the account logins normally.
do you have any idea how to install Arabic lang support for reading massages and contacts names?
